New York Dec 2008 day 4

Well our last day in nyc didn't go as planned, we had hoped to visit Central Park but we woke to torrential rain :sad2:

We had a quick change of plan and headed off towards bloomingdales via the many stores on 5th avenue, my mum was wanting to look at the shop window displays and she wasn't dissapointed, they are brilliant

We had a good wander round bloomingdales before heading back down 5th avnue and visits to the disney store and FAO Schwarz

We were absoloutly soaked and mum was most amused that the stores gave you a brolly bag when you entered the store ;)

We headed back to Times square around lunchtime and had a nice meal at the hard rock cafe before heading back to the hotel.

Our transport back to JFK was booked for 3pm and they arrived at 2.50pm, we anticipated that would mean a long wait at the airport however it took 2hrs to get there....the traffic was literally bumper to bumper :eek: i was beginning to wonder if we would make it, new york cabbies must have nerves of seel !

We had a voucher to give to the driver but as it was printed on the back of our e-ticket i was relucant to hand it over and that took ages to negotiate as well :scared:

im surprised we made the flight at all but we checked in smoothly ( the virgin staff here were really lovely and very friendly) The flight was late taking off but managed to make up time en-route and we landed back in heathrow on the friday morning on time.

I had a great time in NYC and i would love to go back and see some more of the city one day :thumbsup2

We have talked about that already ! but we are all hoping to visit my cousin in Australia in 2010 so we are going to save up for that instead :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the rain, Natalie. Looks like Ellie and Matthew enjoyed FAO though! I remember the last time I went they had the most massive Mr Potato head display - very impressive.

Shame about Central Park, we didn't see much of it when we went. My sister & BIL wanted to just go the Strawberry Fields monument.

We ate in Hard Rock too when we went, great meal.

There is so much I never got to do when I went as you say good excuse to go back.
