On Friday night, Dec. 19th, my family rode the boat from the WL to the Contemporary, with plans to walk to the bus stop at MK to catch the bus back to our resort. As we exited the front of the CR and began walking toward the MK, there was a crowd gathered and a lot of commotion. There was somone screaming, and at first, I thought it was some type of altercation. Then, we see a person lying on the ground in front of, and partially under, a Disney bus! There was also a car up on the curb and glass everywhere. We heard that 911 had been called. Since there was already a large crowd and help had been summoned, we walked around the accident site and continued to the bus stop. On our way, we saw 2 fire trucks and 2 ambulances.
I just wondered if anyone knew what exactly happened and if the person who was hit is ok.

Wow I hope they are okay!
Only details I know about were posted here, and I don't know how accurate they are:
An SUV was sitting in the DISNEY BUSES ONLY lanes at the CR.
A bus pulled in and hit the SUV.
Don't know if injured guests (if any) were inside or outside of the vehicles.

Hopefully everyone is ok, however I think we will never know since this never made the news.

I hope everyone is okay....I think they should at least fine the driver of the SUV if he was parked somewhere he shouldn't have been.

I almost got myself hit by a Magical Express bus when walking up to the WL. I was crossing in a place that I shouldn't have been crossing and it was probably going a little faster than it should have been. But I wasn't hit and all's well that ends well.
I decided that if I had to die early, that would have been a great way to go. All the Disney fans in heaven would have been so jealous of me. They'd all have died from common stuff like heart attacks and strokes and I'd be like, "Hit by the ME bus!!! Bwhahahaha!" :dance3:
I hope that if someone was hit that they're okay.

There wasn't anything on the news here about an accident at Disney today. Maybe they will have it on tonight. I hope everybody it OK with what ever happened.

Hope they are alright.
It stinks to hear about stuff happening like that anyplace, but to hear that it happened at WDW...makes you think even though you are the most magical place on earth bad things can still strike.

That would definitely be a new twist on the meaning of "Magical Express." :rotfl:
Hopefully the people are OK, but we're not likely to ever know. Some folks go on vacation and just quit paying attention (or are overwhelmed by everything) and end up being on the receiving end of some hurt. Everybody keep your eyes open and be careful out there.

We just got back a couple of hours ago from our trip Dec. 18-22nd. We were on the seventh floor with a MK view. As we returned to our room after seeing Fantasmic and the Osborne Spectacle of Lights, we heard a lot of sirens. We looked out the balcony and saw the ambulances and police everywhere. We never saw anybody loaded onto the ambulance. We could see glass on the pavement and witnessed at least two small children walking/running around inside the Disney bus that was involved in the incident. The area was blocked off for a long time and police were on the scene quite a while.

I like how you think! I know it might sound awful, but one day my husband and I were discussing the poor soul who died on Expedition Everest. I said, "Well, it sounds like he was going to go soon anyway. If it has to happen, what better place than a ride at Disney World? At the very least, I know I would die happy!"

What a terrible way to start your vacation...being hit by a bus! I thought it was bad last year when my 80yr mom tripped on a curb leaving the MK during MVMCP. She was ok-swollen ankle, but not a good way to start a week long WALKING vacation!!! I agree w/ a few of the other posters about dying on a ride-at least you were having fun. (What a weird thing to be chatting about here! )

Since this does involve the themeparks and minimally involves a resort, I'll be moving this to the Rumors & News Board.
Thanks,

There has been absolutely nothing about this story on the local news stations. If the person had been badly hurt, it would have been reported. We always here about serious accidents involving Disney. Hopefully, the person is home with her family celebrating the holidays!

I heard that it was a van that was involved, not an SUV. The person I heard it from thought that the van may be some sort of transportation for hire.
