Ok ladies! I need some opinions. I am doing a VR at the Swan and Dolphin in Dec. O9. I want to do a Cinderella, fairytale theme. I am having a really hard time deciding on what style dress to have. I originally thought like a blue ball gown - like a prom dress, with no train.
But I am have a MK bridal portrait session, which leaves me wanting a train. My 1st wedding, I had a huge, poofy dress with a 12 foot train and the whole works. So I definately don't want that again.
Should I go for a train? Ballgown? Blue or Ivory?
Any thought are greatly appreciated.:cutie:

i would go for a train!
We were on a cruise, so I went with a destination type dress, but if I had been on land, I would have loved a train!

I would choose what you will feel comfortable in..... the whole VR dress thing was a big decision for me but I found one I liked , tried it on and then did purchase it on sale in the end. Mine does have a small train. I don't plan on wearing a veil, maybe a tiara. Good luck with all your plans.:goodvibes

DisneyDMBNut, I love your dress!! I originally thought of doing a beach or cruise wedding, and I had picked that one out as one of my possibilities! I still love it! :thumbsup2
I am a photographer, which means I get to see a lot of weddings, and I found this website from several of my brides. I'm new, so it won't let me post it, but the company is Peridress.
It's a company from China that will custom make a dress to fit you, and it can be a knock off of what ever you want. Normally, I would be scared to try something like this, but I have seen their gowns in person, and they are GORGEOUS!! So I can pick out what ever I want and have it in whatever color I want, plus have it fit my short, plus size body for around $200!!!!
When I am back at work on my DSL, I'll post some pics of styles I like. (I have dial up out here in the woods.:sad2: )

It looks like a princess dress! I love it! I really like the sleeves on it. I think a tiara would be perfect. I don't think I am going to do a veil either. Although, if I get a dress without a train, I may go for a really long veil to make up for it. Hmmmm....

It's great to see another person doing a VR! I didn't have the big wedding or even a wedding dress when DH and I got married. So this time I am wearing a wedding dress but no veil, or tiara. I am on the fence about a train. Some days I want it cause I love how it looks. Other days I don't want it cause I feel like it isn't my first wedding and I feel a little foolish wearing a big dress with a train. I don't know. I guess I'll decide once I start trying the dresses on. Our VR is a month before yours, Nov. 2009. If you go to this site www.palomablanca.com and type in 3807 in the box that says style you will see the dress I really love. I know I want the dress in Ivory. If you are going for the Cinderella theme, I think a blue ball gown would be really nice and different.
Even though you said you will get a dress from a company in China, I would still go try on dresses of the styles you like. Sometimes what you like looks totally different in person and on. That's what I'm worried about, the dress I love not looking good on me even though I love it in the picture!LOL

after I had lost all my weight and went to order my dress, I saw this dress in the dressing area. I knew this was too much for what we were doing, but I wanted to try it on..I felt just like Cinderella!! It was the most GORGEOUS dress and if I was in the parks or WP, I would have had a serious decision to make..I was amazing, and the pictures don't even do the color justice
I love my dress and still look at it and know that it was perfect..but maybe if I win the lottery and have my 10th VR at the castle...this will be my dress!!

ETA - I forgot..when I tried it on, my mother almost freaked (well, she freaked a little) thinking I was going away from our beachy laid back VR

it is by Alfred Angelo..it was so amazing..I cried when I tried it on and it wasn't even what I was looking for.
It is Diamond white and has a metallic gold thread and crystals. I tried on the 16 and it made me look so tiny in the waist!!
Really, if we had had a different theme..I would have gotten this
(I think AA site is down..I can't access it right now..when I can, I will tell you the collection and #)

I think you should get whatever makes you happy. We are planning to do a 10 year VR in Vegas. For our wedding I didn't want a traditional gown but when I tried mine on I knew it was IT and I loved it. But, for the VR I'm going completely over-the-top! I want something extraordinary and BIG - something like this:

Or:
http://kleinfeldbridal.com/pics/items/large/Pnina-Tornai-10708-large.jpg
But I'm not planning to spend a fortune. I'm sure I can find a dressmaker or someone on e-bay who can make something like that.
DH just laughs :rotfl:

Thanks for all the ideas. I need to do some more posts so I can show links and pics for the dresses I really love. I think I definitely want something over the top, but I want it to be different from my 1st wedding and my 1st wedding dress. I did not get any of the things that I wanted the 1st time around as both myself and my husband paid for it all while we were in college. It was really meaningful, but small. I made everything myself, except for my dress and the invitations. So now, I want the whole fairytale that I didn't get the 1st time around.
I was worried about splurging on a VR. I don't think that my family will be so supportive about it. They are really old-fashioned. My DH's family is all for it!
So, I am glad to read about other people's VRs!!!
Thanks! I'll get some pics up soon.:thumbsup2
I decided I was going all out with this wedding - my first was great but I was so limited by budget with my dress.
It didn't even cross my mind that I should be wearing (or not wearing) a certain type of dress or colour and as it was Disney, I was going for the fairytale!
Here is mine:

The train does bug me a bit but I'm having it bustled so I can tuck it away after the photos. I love trains on dresses and think they look fantastic on photos
