A question about making ressies?????

I called last week to inquire about the Fall Getaway Package. While I was talking to the CM she informed me that if I found a better deal after making this ressie, I would have to pay $50 to change to the better deal. Then said I had to have my balance paid approx. a month before we would arrive.
Now, I have never went with a package before. Always did room only and I have never been told that before.
I was just wondering if this is package only stuff or if it's Disney's new policy. I don't care about having it paid before I arrive, but that would stink if you found a better deal then either couldn't have it or had to pay extra to get it.
Has anyone had this on room only ressies??

That is only on packages not room only. I booked the YC for 11/8 thru 11/13 at a AAA rate of $272.61, including tax. She told me to call back closer to our arrival date with codes or AP rates and they will change it to the new rate. No fee. Packages are never the way to go from what I have found. I get my own room rate and Seasonal Pass from AAA at a discount. But, I do pay off my room totally before we arrive. That way all I have to do is come up the the cash for food and whatever else we need. I have a feeling you called the Disney Club or Travel Club number right? Call 1-800-WDISNEY for room only. I called 1-407-WDISNEY. I assume I had CRO, but you never know. I have never gone with a package before. We need to change our dates, so I will go with room only again. I have done that route before so I know what to expect.
