Living 500 feet from Lake Erie is NOO pleasure in winter. Got back on wednesday, and when the plane broke the clouds, and I saw white roofs and driveways (and realized it WASNT sand) I KNEW our pilot had made a WRONG TURN!!!
Snow is a four letter word for a reason!:grouphug:

I live 1/4 mile from the ocean and we almost never get snow accumulation. Looking at my backyard blows that theory right out the water (pun intended).

I'm being a goof....but I'm listening to the weather report (John has the news on in the other room) and I would be miserable in that weather.
I did that for 35 years and that was ENOUGH!
Housing in FL has not been cheaper in many, many years so the DIS family should all head on down.
We took over TSM, I'm pretty sure we could take over Orlando.....apparently all you need is a light saber and vodka slushies.

I'm checking the real estate listings. How does the area northwest of WDW sound? Easy access to WDW without being over-run by tourists?

You can head in virtually any direction and find some great polaces to live.
Most of the suburban areas see no tourist activity and once you live here....you figure out how to avoid the tourist corridors (I-Drive, 192, Apopka Vineland Road) during busy times of the year.

I can handle the snow, because it is pretty. I can handle the cold, because you can always bundle up. I can't stand the dangerous driving conditions, and the fear that I have every time myself, or someone I love, has to drive in this stuff. We are experiencing blizzard conditions in mid-michigan today. My parents were supposed to come visit, but the driving conditions are keeping them at home.

My DD just did a 360 going 20...and my DS18 is still out there, coming home in an hour. He's an "adult", so won't let me pick him up. I told him that if he's so "adult", he can call AAA and wait for 4 hours for them to pull his sorry butt outta a snowbank.
It's only 2 miles to drive, but there are lots of hills on these roads. Days like these, I hate being the mommy.

snowing, raining, sleeting, snowing again, hailing, and now back to rain. then shovel for an hour or to. go to the store for a few essentials and come back to my lazy, no shoveling neigbor park in my nice clean spot. a little leaning on the horn and some polite yelling gets my spot back. i just love massachusettes.
p.s. finally my 100th post. takes us lurkers a lil time.

Glad to see a thread where we can complain about the snow! I feel like it's been snowing here in NY for 3 days straight...although I guess we did get a few hours off yesterday. It's finally stopped here.
I don't mind looking at snow, it's pretty and all that, but I HATE to drive in it, and it doesn't seem that they're doing a bang up job of cleaning the roads. From where I'm sitting in my house I have a great view of my neighbors all out there cleaning off their driveways...our neighbor had been nice enough to plow ours with his 4 wheel/snowmobile type thingy (yeah, that's the technical name for it!) but it now appears to be stuck! That's not good, considering we only have one snow shovel (just moved here in September.) So I guess my poor DH is on his own!

It has snowed here near Buffalo all day. School was closed last Friday because of the snow. I think we had a high of maybe 20 degrees earlier today. The winds are now gusting to 40 mph and I can't see my outside Christmas lights from my window. All I want to do is finish my Christmas shopping but I can't get out of my driveway.
