I had my second marathon anxiety dream last night.

I was running the marathon and got to the halfway point, which was a beautiful garden. There was a big water fountain and benches situated among beautiful flowers. The other runners and I were sitting on the benches, taking a rest...or so I thought. After a few minutes of resting, I got up to start running again and no one else got up. It turned out that they were all running a half marathon, not a full, so they were done! I thought it was weird that there was no finish line for them to cross, they just stopped at the 13.1 mile mark and were done. I was so jealous of them because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do another 13.1 miles - especially alone. I was the only one doing the full. :scared1:

So I guess I'm afraid I won't be able to finish and that I'll be running alone. I don't think DH will dessert me, so at least I know I won't be running alone. NoW I just have to work on finishing.

My first marathon anxiety dream was back in Feb when I signed up for the marathon. Here it is:
Had my 1st marathon anxiety dream!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real life: DH has convinced me to run the marathon in '09. I've only been running for a month, and although I'm nervous, I'm also looking forward to achieving this goal. A couple of nights ago, we printed out the marathon application for DVC members, filled it out, and mailed it.

That night, I had a crazy dream: I was running along my regular route. A van drove up beside me and a bunch of guys in orange jumpsuits ran over to me an grabbed me. I tried to scream, but couldn't. Then I realized that they weren't going to harm me, they were holding my arms and running with me. I then noticed that the letters stenciled on their jumpsuits did not spell out a prison name. The letters were D.V.C.

I guess my subconscious was feeling that committing to the marathon is a little like being in prison!

Linda, we have a lot in common. I'm also scared to death and this is my first full marathon too! I've done one half marathon, but that's it.

Will you be at the Pop meet on the Fri before the marathon?

I have not thought about it because my DH,kids, parents and brother are with me. Friday what time? At the food court?I know we are at the Magic Kingdom on Friday night.I wish this wasn't such a short trip.I have 2 DDs that are in high school and they are missing 2 full days- when they were younger we took them out all the time, now it is way too much to make up.

I think people are meeting at the Pop food court at 4:30 on Fri.

We have a short trip too (Fri-Mon), but we're leaving our kiddos home. They're 9, 7, & 2, so we'd have to bring someone to babysit if we had the kids with us. We're doing a family vacation to WDW in April with the kids and my parents.

I love these! It is sharing your excitement that is part of the fun! This roller coaster of emotion is all part of it and doing your first at WDW is amost memorable experience. You will LOVE it!

Find the WISH Team before you start. There will be lots of support at the start/finish line.

I'm sure I'll have many more anxiety dreams in the weeks to come. I'll be sure to post them here so everyone can have a laugh.

Thanks for the tip to find the WISH team before I start. I'm sure it will be very reassuring to be surrounded by such great, supportive people. I know I'm going to be so nervous!

The weekend after Thanksgiving we went to WDW for the week. On Sunday were were powerwalking around the BW and I tripped and fell. I had road rash on my knee but as the day wore on my rib started to hurt. I had a hard time breathing and couldn't think about doing any jarring rides. What a way to start a vacation.

When we got back, my ribs still hurt and I"m now going to PT as it really isnt my ribs but a muscle in my shoulder and under my arm that's causing the pain.

Soooo a couple of weeks ago I dreamed I was doing the 1/2 and was carring a baby the whole way under my arm. I must have been sleeping on that side and the pressure on my ribs and under arm was like carrying a baby for 13.1 miles!

When I woke up, I felt like, well that wasn't so bad. After 26 years it's not a real big deal to be carrying a baby for hours. Not sure I'd want to do it but I guess I still can.

Too funny about the dreams - I had my first last night.

I dreamt that I woke up on Marathon morning at 6AM but still went to the starting line anyway. For some reason I must not have picked up my packet and I was trying to find where I could get my number and my chip. Right after the last person went over the start line I finally found the place to get my number and my chip but they said I was too late. I got mad and started yelling at the lady saying "are you kidding me, I signed up for this thing a year ago." I think I might have stomped my feet and threw a little hissy fit.

I think it means I am afraid I am going to sleep in and miss the marathon and I have been planning for this for over a year. Also because I don't plan on doing a full again so I wasn't looking forward to training for it next year.

Well, it seems at least a few of us are having crazy race-related dreams. Thanks for sharing - and please continue to share if you have any more!

I'm sure I'll have more crazy dreams to share in the weeks to come. :upsidedow

Just yesterday as I was reading this post I never thought I would have dreams about it and here I ended up having a dream about it last night. Strange the way our minds work. I am sure I won't get much sleep the night before the race but that is to be expected.

I'll be glad to be there and get going. It's been a long year of training and I want to incorporate some other forms of exercise too.

Having already done a 1/2 I know what to expect so this year will have less stress than last.

Training - mmmmmmmmm we had 18 inches of snow - minimum over the weekend that just about threw all training out the window.
