oh, and i also broke my left pinky toe today, just adding to the excitement of my day! as i was walking past my dining room i clipped it on the pillar that sort of divides my living room and dining room. i knew it was broken as soon as i felt it happen. after rolling around on the floor and saying a few choice words, i took off my sock and it was already swelling. right now it's starting to bruise. i've got it propped up on pillows and i have an ice pack bandaged around it. i had to go to court this afternoon and, after setting up my equipment, take out an ice pack and bandage it around my foot while the attorneys watched me do this. it was quite embarassing!
I just got my left-hand middle finger out of a splint after breaking it 6 weeks ago. What a great one to pick, huh? Typing has been difficult -- it's a good thing I don't have your job.

Sorry to hear about your toe! Cool about the baby. I hope you have all week off. I have a pinky toe story too. One day I was stepping out of the shower, I stepped down with my left foot, and instead of the floor, my pinky toe caught the edge of the bathtub, and I stepped down pretty hard. I thought I broke it too, for how bad it felt. And this was FIVE DAYS before going to Disney World. lol luckily it was ok by the time I got ready to go. :thumbsup2

update on the baby/toe situation! :rotfl2:
talked to jordan about 2 hours ago and her contractions are about 9 minutes apart and she's 1 centimeter dilated, but they sent her home :eek: to rest. she says they don't think it's going to happen until at least friday. i have to work tomorrow but my boss is willing to cover for me if something happens tonight. i'm off on friday. so if she has the baby before sunday night, i can be there. next week is CRAZY busy at work so i'm hoping that's what happens.
about my toe....i got up this morning to find the entire top of the left side of my foot bruised. i've had broken toes before and i've never had one look that way, so i got a doctor appt for 11:00, they took X-rays and she said that i did break the little toe and only the little toe, but that it's broken completey IN HALF. :sad2: there's nothing they can do for it but let it heal. i have to keep it taped to my other toe and keep ice on for it for two days on and off, and only wear hard-soled shoes for the next couple of weeks. i had my alice crocs on today and she told me those were bad for it because it lets my foot bend too much.
anyway, that's that. it doesn't hurt too bad but it's no fun either. the walking part is what's hard because i'm putting all my weight on the inside of my foot and it's starting to hurt a little. i'm glad i don't drive a stick shift any more!
for your viewing pleasure. it's not too gross but you can see the bruise on the left side of my foot. i took this for my mom to e-mail to her because she wanted to see how bad it was. please excuse the botched toenail-painting job - i was in a hurry before i went to the doctor this morning - gotta have pretty toes for the doctor! :lmao:

Yea!!!!!! I can't wait to finally see your Tink pictures!!!!! She is the best!!!!!!
I love the pics with Scrooge McDuck!! I just love him!!!
we loved scrooge mcduck too. he was a great character. our meeting with him will be coming up later!
Great update! I didn't even notice it was short!:goodvibes I love Luke's excitement as he's walking up with Chris! The decoration and castle pics you got are great, and how fun the ducks were there all dressed for the holidays!
the characters in their holiday clothes were just so cute!
I can't believe I'll see this in 5 DAYS!!!:cool1:
i do believe that countdown is down to 2 now???? LUCKY DUCK!!! :banana:
Yay, another update!! Good job on finishing your work early!! :thumbsup2
Luke's pyjamas are very cute!!
The MK Christmas decorations are just so pretty. You're really making me want to visit WDW at Christmas-time now. I showed Conan some photos too, and he said, "Maybe Christmas, 2012!" Woohoooo!! 2012 it is!! :lmao:
Can't wait to hear about your Tink meet!! :)
oh, i'm far from finished. i had just finished typing that PAINFUL 250-page hearing. and now i've just finished proofing it - it's printing right now. i still have LOADS of work to do. i don't think i've ever had so much typing backlogged! but i'm not complaining because it's money!
luke always has cute PJs! you guys would really love it at christmas. we're going in december 2010...HINT, HINT. ;)
Great update Dawn:thumbsup2 It's funny, when they announced about the meet and greet with the fairies FIRST I got excited for Lauren (who is a huge Tink fan) and then you instantly popped into my head, I knew you would be thrilled and couldn't wait to read about your first encounter with them:goodvibes Loved the Scrooge pics, another character I just didn't think of that you can only see at Christmas time, ANOTHER reason to convince Tim to go at Christmas. Can't wait for more, thanks for the update, great way to start my day today :woohoo:
Lesley
awwww.....i can't believe you thought of me! :laughing: let me know when you guys book that christmas trip. ;)
It is an excellent and exciting thread.. You have given a great re production of your experience. We can see all the excitements you have had from your eyes.. Every post you posted here speaks volume about the entertainment you have had..
thanks so much for your sweet compliments! such nice things to say. :goodvibes
Little by little I am catching up. Love all the new pics! I can't wait to see those OL again. That was my favorite Holiday thing at Disney! I'm going earlier this time though to avoid the crowds. Not that it was bad the week I went but that last night...OMG, never again!
The snow pics are GREAT! Looks like ya'll had a lot of fun! Maybe next year we can get to the Mtns and play in some snow. I'd prefer not to get it here at home. It's bad for my palms. They all look so bad right now.
I can't wait to hear your Tink story! I am SO GLAD they brought her out for a meet and greet! They should have done it years ago!
take your time - the dis isn't going anywhere! i've been so busy lately that i've only been able to get on here every few days. i agree about the lights - so cool! definitely my favorite part. and i agree about tink too! i can't believe it's taken so long to make her available.
I really wish we didn't have to go during the summer. I hate the humidity and heat also. But we can't afford to go this winter and next summer is the only chance we have. My sister graduates from college, my other sister from HS, and I leave for Navy boot camp in June. So my parents really want a vacation before we are all gone. At this point I will go whenever!!!
I can't wait to see the Fairies!!! There is always a benefit to waking up early at Disney:) Hope you are feeling better.
oh, i undestand! you gotta do what you gotta do. and disney is disney - no matter when you go! congrats on the navy! :thumbsup2
I'll be riding under it tomorrow morning on the good old Magical Express bus.
Five days from now, when you're driving in, we'll be going out on the other side. You know the one - the crying side.
Nice update, Dawn. The pictures of the Christmas tree lot are cute.
Main Street, as always, is beautiful.
you rode under these signs TODAY!!!!! hope you're having a blast and the spring break crowds aren't too bad.
Can't wait for the Fairy update!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes
it's coming as soon as all this baby madness calms down!
I can't wait for the fairies!!! You take the best pictures! They are so detailed.
thanks! i will update with the fairies when my life gets a little less crazy, if that ever happens! :laughing:
Hope you are feeling better! :goodvibes
thanks, jenny! i'm still kinda stuffy but the pain in my foot has been distracting from my congestion problems. :rotfl:

I'm so happy that you get to see the fairies and I can't wait to hear all about it! Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to see them when I go next month but if theres a line thats out of the question because BF would never wait for it :laughing:
Anna and family are just so cute with Scrooge Donald and I'm glad Ray got to see him later in the day since he was so excited :goodvibes
the best way to see them is to get there early! i've also heard that spectromagic is a good time to go.
AWwwwww cool!!!! That sweet, baby girl will be here soon!!!!!!:thumbsup2
i hope so!
good luck with the new arrival:goodvibes
take it easy with your toe;)
thanks! i'm icing it right now.
Thanks for updating!! I know that you are super busy. So sorry to hear about your toe. It makes it hard to wear heels to work when your pinky toe is throbbing!
Here's to hoping for a safe and healthy arrival of your niece!!!
yeah, no heels for me for a few weeks! thanks for the good wishes!
Dawn...congrats on your niece. Hope she arrives safe and sound and healthy! And don't be embarrased how you broke your toe. My mom broke hers tripping over her own shoe (which I almost did today but caught myself!) And she always used to yell at us for having our shoes in the middle of the walkway---you know somebody could trip on them!:rotfl: She was pretty embarrased!
thanks! i hope she arrives SOON! that's so funny about your mom. :laughing:
Great update, I love all the pics!
Sooo sorry about your toe... ahh that must have hurt! I hope it heals soon. And keep us updated on your niece, how exciting! :goodvibes:
thanks! yep, it was quite painful. it's not hurting too bad now though. i will try to keep you updated as best i can!
I just got my left-hand middle finger out of a splint after breaking it 6 weeks ago. What a great one to pick, huh? Typing has been difficult -- it's a good thing I don't have your job.
ouch! yeah, i don't know what i'll ever do if i heart one of my hands or fingers. i depend on them for income! anna does a yoga move in one of her classes where you put all your body weight on your wrists and i never do it because i'm always afraid i'll break something!
Sorry to hear about your toe! Cool about the baby. I hope you have all week off. I have a pinky toe story too. One day I was stepping out of the shower, I stepped down with my left foot, and instead of the floor, my pinky toe caught the edge of the bathtub, and I stepped down pretty hard. thanks! ouch about your toe! glad it got better before disney world. unfortunately mine is going to take quite awhile to heal. she said probably about a month.
Hope your toe feels better!!!!!
Good luck with the arrival of your niece! Your going to be a great aunt!
thanks! i hope i'm a good aunt....even if i'm 300 miles away!
Get ready for baby fever to hit you hard! After you hold that sweet little baby, you won't be able to get pregnant fast enough!:lovestruc :love:
seriously! i fully expect that to happen! :rotfl:
sorry about your toe, i slammed my finger in my car door yesterday
:headache:
ouch! i did that once and my finger actually JAMMED the car door SHUT!!!! luckily i was in a parking lot and there was an ambulance going by and they saw me flailing my arms and got out and helped me get the door open. it actually didn't break my finger, just squished it really good. told you i was a klutz. :rolleyes:
ouch--it did bruise nicely:hug:

Good luck with everything, the baby and your toe! I think your nailpolish looks good and you have nice feet too! :rotfl: :)
thanks! so funny that you think i have nice feet because i hate them! :lmao:
Gosh! It did bruise a lot! I hope you get a new neice soon!! Do you know what her name is going to be? I can't remember if you told us.

me too! i hope it happens before sunday because if so i'm good! i know - i'm such a dork about my toes! i really did paint them just because i knew someone was going to be handling my feet. i haven't painted my toenails since like christmas! :upsidedow

update!
well, really there's nothing to update. :rolleyes:
last time i talked to jordan, which was about 10:00 last night, she was the same. just having contractions about every 9-10 minutes. the only thing is they're not constant. she'll have them for like 4 hours and then they'll stop for an hour. she says she's really tired but she can't sit still. she's nesting and getting everything ready for the baby but she knows she needs to rest. anyway, that's the update. i'm keeping my fingers and all unbroken toes and anything else i can manage crossed that she will go into full-fledged labor today or tonight so that i can go up there for the weekend. next week at work my schedule is horrible. the only day i don't have a job right now is next friday. monday and tuesday it's possible that i could get someone to fill in for me. but wednesday and thursday we have like 8 jobs on the books and there's only 5 of us! :eek: so they will definitely need me those days.
as far as the toe, here are some updated pics. i took these for my mom because she's worried about her little girl's toe. :lmao:
these were taken yesterday afternoon.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00625.jpg
as you can see, the light bruise has spread down the top of my foot. i have no idea why i bruised in such a large area. this morning that bruise has faded but the little toe is more purple, which i expected. it's not too painful - just when i step on it wrong mainly. but i am getting really tired of walking on the inside of my foot. i can't wait until i can put some weight on it. you don't realize how much you use your pinky toe until it's unusable! :laughing:
i will try to keep you guys updated! keep your fingers crossed for me that i get a phone call sometime today to start heading to tennessee!

it's now 11:32 p.m. in georgia (no matter what time the disboards says it is) and still no phone call. i'm not worried yet. the good news is next week has calmed down a bit. the deposition i was supposed to do on monday cancelled so i'm off. tuesday i will probably have a juvenile court hearing but i'm in the process of trying to get someone on standby to fill in for me if needed. wednesday and thursday are still crazy but not as bad as they were because some stuff has cancelled. so only time will tell!
in other news, i received a package from amazon.com today that contained my copies of pinnochio, twilight and a new workout DVD. i watched/listened to pinnochio while i cleaned my house. yes, i cleaned my house with a broken toe - just call me super domestic goddess. :rotfl: and i watched about 3/4 of twilight later tonight and i had to turn it off. i hated it. there were a few scenes that i liked but it strayed so far from the book on some key points that i just got disgusted and turned it off. i hope the new director does better with "new moon."
oh, and my toe is now stinging. i guess that means it's healing? :confused: :headache:

Good news that next week is calming down a bit! Hopefully you'll get to go meet your new little niece!! :thumbsup2
You go, Dawn! Cleaning the house with a broken toe! What a whizz! :woohoo:
I didn't mind Twilight, but I hadn't read the books, so that's probably why. I really, really don't like Robert Pattinson though. I think Tina Fey described him the best. She saw a clip of him at the Oscars and said, "Who is THAT?! Is that the devil!?" :lmao:
Luckily you got to watch Pinocchio too. That's always good!! :goodvibes

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who hated Twilight! I loved the first three books and thought the last one was ridiculous, but I'm a fan. I HATED the movie! It was so stupid - Bella and Edward are seriously two of the most boring characters of all time. Ever. They stared at each other for 2 hours... that's all that happened throughout the entire movie! And when Edward "tinkled" in the sunlight... :lmao::lmao::lmao: Just the face he made when he smelt Bella was hilarious! Plus he shook Charlie's hand and Charlie didn't even flinch... wouldn't he have noticed something was off?!!! Crazy movie! :laughing:
Here's to the baby arriving soon! :goodvibes:

no news yet. i talked to jordan about 3 hours ago and she was still waiting. she said she's just really tired and still having contractions pretty regularly. they get random every now and then but for the most part they are regular. she was thinking about going to the mall to walk around and swinging by CVS to get some mineral oil to drink. the next full moon isn't until april 9th. i hope we don't have to wait that long! i know some women do have contractions for weeks before actual labor but i hope she's not one of them!
the good news is i found a court reporter that is looking for work and said she'd love to fill in for me next week if i needed her to. :thumbsup2
we went fishing today and i froze my tooshie off. it was supposed to be warm but it was really cloudy and windy and i ended up sitting in the car reading for 3 hours while ray and his nephew fished. i HATE being cold! and so does my toe. :rotfl:
Ouch! It looks like that would have really hurt. I hope it feels better soon. I am also hoping that your niece arrives this weekend. I know you are excited.
I enjoyed your update. I wanted to see Scrooge but we didn't make time for that.
thanks! i was hoping so but so far nothing!
scrooge was awesome! we met him later that day and you will see that eventually. maybe next time you guys can meet him.
Ahhhhh :headache: :headache: :headache: That would freak me out! I'm the world's biggest hypochondriac and would get dizzy every time I looked at it :laughing: Did you have a doctor check it out??
you may have missed my prior update. yep, i went to the doctor. i normally wouldn't have because i've broken toes before and there's nothing you can do but let it heal. but the day after i did it i woke up to a purple foot. so i thought i better get it checked out in case i broke something more than my toe. she took X-rays and it's just my pinky toe that's broken, but it's broken completely in half. she said that's why i was bruising so bad. i just have to keep it taped to the toe next to it and wear hard soled shoes for 3 weeks. no high heels, which is gonna KILL my wardrobe choices! :lmao:
I hope your phone starts ringing soon!!!
me too!!!! i told her to call me in the middle of the night if needed.
Your poor toe :guilty:
It doesn't look as bad as I had invisioned, but from seeing that crazy bruise from the first picture I was thinking your whole toe would be black (that's actually what happend to mine when I broke it :headache:) That bruise will prob stretch down your foot and turn all nice colors....blue, green....yellow :upsidedow
I'm sorry I really thought I had responded to this, but I think I had sent you a text message instead :laughing:....my brain is fried :rotfl:
I hope the baby comes soon....or holds off to a good time for you to be down here. I know how badly you want to come :goodvibes
it's more bruised on the inside of my toe but i'm not about to pull it back to get a picture. ouch! :eek: right now it's fading but starting to become a little more yellowish. thanks about the baby vibes. keep your fingers crossed for me! i will call you when i'm on my way so you can come here and let everyone know (if you don't mind)!

Come on out baby!!!
listen to tammy, baby margot!!!!!!
Okay Dawn, you are awesome! Cleaning with that foot?! :worship: So you didn't like Twilight? I haven't seen it yet...I'm still debating on whether or not I want to watch it.
i can't stand my house being dirty and it was FILTHY because i've been so busy with work. twilight wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. there were just some cheesy parts in it. there was SO MUCH potential for that movie to be awesome and i just think the director dropped the ball. if you haven't read the book you probably wouldn't even notice the things i'm noticing, though, except for kristin stewart's horrible acting.
:goodvibes
i hope so! yeah, i'm a cleaning freak. i'm not like kate gosselin or anything (sweeping after every meal) but i just feel at peace when my house is clean.
yeah, i think because i loved the book so much that i just really hated that they changed so much and left out so much. just a couple of small examples - bella cooks for charlie in the book. it's part of their relationship - she takes care of him. in the movie they always go to that diner and there's not even a diner mentioned in the book. another thing is she and alice really bond on the trip down to arizona when they're hiding from james. in the movie they barely talk during all that. and i LOVE alice's character so that was disappointing.
you know what's funny - robert pattinson reminds me of my brother! :lmao: not in the movie but when he looks kinda scruffy he just reminds me of him. and my brother is satan so that makes sense. :rotfl2: now robert pattison as edward i think is HOT - but that's just because after reading the books i'm in love with edward. shhhhhh.....don't tell ray. :rolleyes1
:goodvibes:
see what i wrote above to aussie angel about how they left some key stuff out. and kristin stewart was killing me with looking like she's in pain all the time. what is with that? it looks like she's always confused. like when she says, "are you really going to ask me about the weather now?" it's just painful to watch. i will admit that the scene where edward saves the van from hitting her i loved. i love how he's looking at her during that. but other than that i really just don't get the whole movie. the sparkle scene - HILARIOUS!!! why did they change that? they completely changed the whole situation of how bella guesses what he is while they're in his car having a conversation on the way back from port angeles. and then the next day he purposely takes her to the meadow. not RIGHT AFTER she guesses he's a vampire. and then what's with the "hold on spider monkey" thing? i don't know - i guess i just love the book too much. i feel like the director read the cliffs notes version of the book or something!

Dawn,
I'm usually a TR lurker, but I broke my little tow on my left foot two summers ago stepping into my bath tub/shower. Not fun at 4:30 in the morning. But I wanted to let you know that my foot bruised just like yours. And now, the only problem I have is that some of my heels do not fit anymore. Too tight on my toes. Good luck!

ouch! oh, no.....i REALLY hope that doesn't happen! i wear heels A LOT for work and i'm only 5'3" so i like to wear them anyway! that will seriously be a disaster for me. i know that sounds silly but almost all my dress shoes are heels. i have one pair of black mary jane like flats and one pair of brown loafers and the rest of the dressy ones are heels - even my boots. let's just hope this doesn't happen! thanks for the warning though.

So should I *read* Twilight? I have resisted up until last night. Then we saw a few of my girlfriends who love it. I was the one who wouldn't watch the movie so we played Wii instead! However, they all said I should read it! Do you agree? I'll give it a shot over the summer if I should!

YES! i didn't want to read it either but my best friend convinced me to and i finally gave in and i love all the books. can't put them down. the series would be a great summer read! i started on the first book in late january and i'm finishing up the 4th one now. they are very easy reads - not difficult reading at all. just enjoyable.
I will....and no problem. I can let everyone here know :goodvibes

Too bad they don't live here. They could go to Scalini's and get the eggplant parmesan. No joke on the walls there are hundreds of babies that were born within 48 hours of eating the eggplant parmesean. I went the Saturday before Hollie was due and I took one bite and could not finish it!! I am a texture person and it was like marinara goo in my mouth!! Ugh!!!!!
I had a friend who ate it and had her baby the next day! Not me, I can't stand eggplant!!

i had an update all done tonight and then the internet dropped me. i've had such horrible computer issues tonight that i don't have the patience to do it again. sorry. i will try again when i get a chance. :headache::headache::headache:
no baby yet. jordan is still at 1 centimeter. she went to the doctor today and everything looks good - just still waiting!
and my toe was feeling better until yesterday when i accidentally kicked eli. i was walking out the back door and he walked in front of me and i hit him with the left side of my foot. it HURT!!!!!! bad. it felt like re-broke my toe. so now all the progress i had made with putting some more weight on that part of my foot has completely gone backwards. it's not hurting too bad - just a little pain every now and then. i can't get a sneaker on which is driving me nuts. i hope that problem goes away soon!

she said she didn't. i've done the mineral oil thing for "other" problems that i won't go into here and it didn't taste like anything to me. after i shot it i swished water in my mouth so maybe that's why.

so i have a few minutes and figured i'd re-write what i wrote and lost last night.
no baby news yet, by the way. go to the previous page for a more thorough update on that.
oh, exciting news.....ray and i are renting a cabin near tallulah gorge state park for our anniversary! :yay: our anniversary is on april 13th but we didn't want to do it the weekend before that since that's easter weekend. so we're going the next weekend instead. it's pet friendly so we can even bring the boys! we were gonna rent a pop-up camper but it's gonna save us about $200 (and some elbow grease) if we just rent a cabin instead. i will be back later with pictures of the cabin!
on to the TR!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so it was time.....time to do what i'd been waiting for about 30 years to do.....TIME TO MEET TINKER BELL!!!!! :woohoo:
at promptly 9:45 about 4 CMs came out to the rope in toon town and proceeded to explain to us exactly how this would work. they said that we would all stay BEHIND them as we WALKED -- not RAN -- to the hall of fame to get in line in a nice, orderly fashion. i was right up next to the rope at this point since i was one of the first ones there. as soon as the CMs dropped the rope and started walking, some people around me put on their obnoxious hats. they were speed walking, not pushing or shoving, but cutting around me in order to get even an INCH closer to the front. i refuse to be rude just to get in the front. i won't do it. as long as i didn't have to wait 2 hours to meet her, i didn't care.
this one lady tried to pull a fast one and got up on the sidewalk to the left of us and tried to pass the CMs. the CM on the far left held out his arm and said to her in a very loud, assertive voice, "WE ARE WALKING!!!!!!" i wonder what it feels like to be 40 years old and reprimanded by a cast member in toontown at disney world??? :lmao: what an idiot.
as we approached the hall of fame i went ahead and got in line while anna and chris dealt with the stroller, then they caught up to me. i would say we were about 10 families back from the front of the line. not too bad. i was happy because i knew we'd be outta there by around 10:30 or so! :thumbsup2
they've completey redone the queue area here. the right side of the queue is the fairy line and it's got a green wall that is back lit and gets lighter and darker. very cool! and the left side is the princess line and it has the same thing except the wall is pink. i'm not sure what they did with the third line, if it's separated now or what. you can see the green wall behind chris in this picture.
here is the door to the fairies area....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/02-12.jpg
here's a video i took as we were standing there. it also has part of where the CM at that door is explaining to us about the tiny photopass cards you get. these are GREAT! they're about half the size of a regular photopass card and they're on a bungee cord that goes around your wrist. i used this for the rest of the trip because it was so much easier to have on me than having to dig for the other one.
also, listen for luke being worried about shrinking. i had told him before that we had to shrink down to tinker bell's size to meet her and he was SO WORRIED about this! so we told him i was just kidding and any time a CM would reference it he would say, "i'm not tiny" or "i don't have to shrink." :rotfl:
we were let into the next hallway around 9:55, so we only waited about 10 minutes. this hallway is SO COOL! there are beautiful paintings of a forest all on the walls and flowers and grass, mushrooms, lady bugs, etc. sitting along the edges of the floor. also you can see fairies flying around every now and then!
more video i took while we were waiting in the hallway. watch luke trying to catch a glimpse of the fairies! so cute.
ray called me while we were waiting. he had woken up and showered and was ready to leave. i was glad he got to sleep in. he was exhausted because he gets random insomnia and it had hit him while we were on vacation. anyway, i told him the keys, his ticket and $20 were with his wallet and to just call me when he got on the monorail.
at exactly 10:02 the CM came out and said it was time for us to meet the fairies! :dance3: i took a video of us walking in. the CM that leads you into the room was so funny - she was VERY into her job! she was telling us about the seasons and i had a hard time following her because she was talking so fast! she says something about being tiny and luke says, "i'm not tiny." :lmao:
here's some video i took of luke and iridessa. she really was so good with him. you will notice here that luke does his "cool guy" smile for the first time. that's what they have dubbed that crooked smile he gives. i think he does it when he's nervous and all these pretty fairies were making him so nervous!
after we left i kept telling anna that i felt like i'd seen that tinker bell somewhere before. well, when i got home about a month later i was looking at pictures from my september trip with erica and look who i found playing alice.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/37-7.jpg
i'm pretty positive it's the same chick. which is kind of funny because those are my two favorite female disney characters.
next up was rosetta. for some reason we didn't get ANY photopass pictures with her. i'm assuming the photopass guy there didn't scan our card. i'm glad anna took some!
my turn! i don't really remember what she said other than she was very southern, like in the movie.
after anna took the above picture i started to walk away and then she said, "one more time," so that's why i'm standing all weird in this one. :laughing:
here's the video of luke meeting rosetta. she blows him a kiss and he starts jumping up and down. so cute! this is also video of us walking out just so you can see the hallway you exit into.
this is the waiting area after you come out of the hallways there. this exits into the gift shop.
all in all, i'm SO GLAD we got to meet the fairies! i hope they keep this attraction around for awhile. they really do spend a good amount of time with each family. we got out of there around 10:15 so almost 15 full minutes in the room with the fairies. tinker bell was so cute but i do have to say that iridessa was the best as far as interaction. she was so fun!
oh, one other funny story about this. when i went home for christmas this year, i was at my friend melanie's house and her little girl, megan, wanted to watch the video of tinker bell. i have to preface this by saying that melanie's husband, lamont, is half black and half white. not that that matters for anything other than making the story funnier. so we're sitting there watching it and when lamont, who hasn't seen the tinker bell movie and of course knows nothing about it, sees iridessa come and grab luke by the hand, he goes, "IS TINKER BELL BLACK??????" :lmao: the way he said it was so funny and i was just laughing so hard at him.
anyway, so that was our tinker bell experience. feel free to ask me any questions. i know this is a new attraction and some people are scared of it because of the waits but i thought it was totally worth it. if you count waiting for rope drop to start, we only waited 45 minutes. if you don't count rope drop and only the time in the queue, it was just like 10 minutes.
up next.....uncle scrooge really IS a scrooge!
We finally got to your favorite part of the trip and I LOVED it! GREAT pictures! I just love that hallway! I did a photoshoot of my kids in it. :rotfl2: We were in there by ourselves for a long time. Wouldn't it be pretty to do a little girls room like that? WOW! I'm putting the baby down for his nap and then I'll send that pic over. I had to upload everything and it's taken me a few days. I just now finished. Yay! :yay:
Very cute pictures and videos. Mom and Dad can pull the videos out when he's about 16 and show his friends when they feel like torturing him. He won't be happy about it, but the girls will think they're adorable! :)
I'm glad you had so much fun seeing Tinkerbell in person! We haven't done that area yet, but I'm sure we will get to it this summer.
Looks like there is going to be a lot of exciting baby news around here in the next few weeks! Best wishes for everything to go smoothly for your family. You will be an awesome aunt!
Dawn I loved loved loved this update. Hannah has to see it tomorrow! I did not do video yet... I am waiting for her! I am super nervous about getting the girls to this. I will have to warn my parents and DH and Luke to go and do something else if they want to. I am already trying to decide what morning to hit it! Is it crazy crowded late at night- does anyone know?
Hi Dawn! I just LOVED this update, I've been waiting for this one and it ranks right up there with the Osborne lights photo's. I'm so glad you got to meet the fairies and have your "dreams come true". I agree, that Tinkerbell is TOO CUTE! I'm not going to show your pictures to Lauren though because if we don't get that exact same Tink she will notice (unfortunately she's gotten to that age now). I agree with you about the Alice thing, definitely the same girl, how funny!!!:rotfl: Loved how Iridessa loved you SO much ;) and the Just Married you put on it, too cute!
Can't wait for more, as always, just love your reports!
So nice to read about something new and different. We didn't get to do this when we went in November. It had just opened that week and it was a madhouse the whole time. We were there 10 days and still didn't get to fit it in. I couldn't believe it!! Oh well, something for next time.
So all the fairies aren't in the room then???? I didn't see the blue one. I guess they just choose a few of them. I'm assuming that Tink is always in there though, right?
I have never been much of a princess fan but I must say the fairies are SO cute. I would never bother standing in line to meet the princesses (good thing I have boys huh!) but I would totally go to meet the faries
Last summer I did one of those "which character are you" things in Animator's Studio and the result was Tink. I was surprised at first then after thinking about it, it really is me
we made the mistake of seeing the princesses first instead of the faires and the line was over an hour when we got back so we skipped it, if parker was a older and knew the fairies we would have waited, but we know for the next trip now to go there first and see them.
They got a cute girl to play this Tink. If I were there, I probably would have asked her out. :rolleyes: I never would have known that was also Alice if you hadn't pointed it out. Do they have the fairy hollow thing open all the time, or is it just seasonal? I have some friends that are going in mid-april, and it'd be cool to take their kids to it. I don't remember it being there last time I was there. Do they have the other fairies there just since the movie? I hope the baby comes soon.
but you're going back soon! wipe those tears away!!!! :laughing: well, i don't think you have to meet them but i wouldn't want to offend them either by skipping over them. from my understanding they always put tink in the middle so you have to sort of walk past the others. have you seen the movie? i didn't mind meeting them since i'd seen it and knew the story. plus it was pretty cool that iridessa had a crush on me. :lmao:
what a great update--I can feel your excitement throughout the photos:love:
thanks! i told anna that yesterday and she laughed. they have lots of stuff to torture him with! hope brooklynn and bellarie get to meet the fairies this summer. has brooklynn seen the movie yet? it's really cute. luke likes it and he keeps asking us why videa (sort of the villian - i have no idea if that's spelled correctly!) wasn't there to meet us. :laughing: best wishes to you guys too! i hope i get to meet bellarie myself sometime soon if jill and company are up that way the same time as me!
I loved seeing your pictures and videos of meeting the fairies! We just watched the Tinkerbelle movie this past weekend. I will have to show the pictures to Hannah, I'm sure she will love it. I'm hoping we can meet the fairies in June.
thanks! i hope hannah liked seeing the pictures and video! i don't know about at night but i figured rope drop was the way to go. at first i thought maybe during spectro or something but i was afraid it would unexpectedly close early or something. if you guys get there first thing then someone can wait while the other goes and rides some stuff in fantasyland with the girls and then meet you back at the toon town rope drop around 9:40 - they will most likely open it around 9:45. i'm telling you, we were outta there by 10:20 and had the whole day in front of us with that out of the way!
I'm glad you got to meet Tink! Looks like you timed it well so waiting wasn't too bad.
thanks! i really hope you guys get to do this in the summer. the experience is really personal and so much fun. i really think rope drop is the way to go. the best thing to do is get there early and then either you or tim could wait and the other could take the kids to ride a couple of short rides in fantasyland whie you wait for toontown rope drop. we were done by around 10:20! :thumbsup2
yeah, i remember reading about it being so crazy. i really wanted to do it and so i did my research on the best time to go. i thought about waiting until MVMCP but i was scared we would run out of time and i knew that was our last night, so i went for it on that first morning at MK. yeah, i think it's always 3 fairies and one of them is always tink.
thanks for stopping in! oh, i wanted to meet fawn! i think she's my favorite (besides tink) because she's an animal fairy or whatever. i think i'd probably be an animal fairy if i was a fairy. well, except another fairy would have to deal with the birds in my place! :rotfl2:
I have never been much of a princess fan but I must say the fairies are SO cute. I would never bother standing in line to meet the princesses (good thing I have boys huh!) but I would totally go to meet the faries
NO WAY!!!!! we were married on april 13, 2002, too!!!!! how cool is that? but the only reason we picked that date is because wanted to get married in either april or may and that was the first saturday the botanical gardens in athens (where we got married) had open.
Oh those pictures of the fairies are great. I cannot wait to do that with my DD. She loves Iridessa and Tink. Tinkerbell is so tiny and cute. Oh and I think her and Alice must be related that's why they look so much alike.;)
thanks! i know your DD will just love this! i think you're right about tink and alice. :goodvibes
Those fairy lighty things are pretty cool in the waiting area.
They got a cute girl to play this Tink. If I were there, I probably would have asked her out. :rolleyes: I never would have known that was also Alice if you hadn't pointed it out. Do they have the fairy hollow thing open all the time, or is it just seasonal? I have some friends that are going in mid-april, and it'd be cool to take their kids to it. I don't remember it being there last time I was there. Do they have the other fairies there just since the movie? I hope the baby comes soon.
i loved the fairies in the waiting hallway. very cute! and yes, tink was very cute! i bet she gets hit on a lot. :laughing: as far as i know it's going to be there for awhile. they opened it in october just after the movie was released. my understanding is they always have 3 fairies there and one of them is always tink. they rotate the other two. sometimes it's iridessa and rosetta and sometimes it's silvermist and fawn. it's in the same building in toontown where you used to go to meet donald, goofy, pluto, etc.
if you haven't read the tinker bell update yet, go here:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30978006&postcount=1309
i just wanted to update you guys on the news -- or lack of it -- about my niece. nothing yet. i talked to jordan today and she said everything's the same. she's just really tired and uncomfortable and is still having contractions, but is not progressing at all. i'm just glad she made it through this week because the next couple of weeks at work aren't as crazy.
secondly, did you guys hear about free dining? it's being offered to disney visa card holders and i'm sure will be offered to the general public soon. VERY TEMPTING!!!! but we all know it's a no-go for me. i would love to go but i really have to re-prioritize for at least a little while. ;) i do have to say watching TLC is TORTURE though because they constantly play disney commercials all the time. :rotfl:
third, i wanted to share this with you. anna got luke's hair cut yesterday and she went a little bit shorter. she's always gotten his hair cut "surfer style" and she told the beautician to go a little shorter this time just to see how it would look. i think it's super cute and she loves it, except she doesn't like that it makes him look older! :laughing: i haven't seen it yet but i'm sure i will soon. i'm supposed to go to her house on saturday. she and i and some girlfriends are having a twilight b**chfest - we all love the books and hate the movie and we have to get together and vent about it! :rotfl2: so i'm sure i will have pictures of him from then. this was taken with anna's phone so it's not the best quality.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/GetAttachment.jpg
now i wanted to share some pics of the cabin we'll be staying in for our anniversary weekend at tallulah falls! i'm excited - just a nice weekend away will be nice. i hope the weather (and my toe) cooperates for some hiking down to the gorge. i got these from the VRBO website.
here's the view of the cabin from the driveway....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/28f195.jpg
the view.....i can't wait to see this early in the morning! of course it won't have all the fall foliage but i'm sure it will still be beautiful. there's also a hot tub on the porch. :woohoo:
and the master bedroom. there's a second bedroom but i guess the doggies will use it. :rotfl:
well, i don't think you have to meet them but i wouldn't want to offend them either by skipping over them. from my understanding they always put tink in the middle so you have to sort of walk past the others. have you seen the movie? i didn't mind meeting them since i'd seen it and knew the story. plus it was pretty cool that iridessa had a crush on me. :lmao:
I have the movie, I just haven't seen it yet. I'm thinking about saving it to watch in the car on the way down. I think maybe if I watch the movie, then I'll be more motivated to meet the others. By the way, I loved your 'Just Married' pic with Iridessa! :rotfl: That's such a good idea that she said though, saying that you're a light fairy because you're name is Dawn and you bring up the sun or whatever.
Awwww, Luke looks adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, me and my co-workers talk about it every day! THere are 2 of us who love the movie and the books. Emily, not so much!! She came in this morning and just gave me this look and I started laughing and said, "You didn't like it, did you?" She said absolutely not! She thought it was horrible!!! She said the actors were terrible and the writing was horrible and she said they completely left out a large amount of the book! I just laughed at her!!:lmao:
I'm heading down to Alabama tomorrow to see my 'fat' daughter. The doctor said Isabella is already over seven pounds, so Jill is ready to go ahead and get her here before she gets any bigger!
no baby yet! still waiting. hopefully she'll come this week or next. i hope she doesn't decide to wait until our cabin weekend!!! surely not. that's past her due date. there's a full moon on april 8th, i believe, so hopefully by then or that night at the latest. i know that's a wives tale but you never know!
Awwww, Luke looks adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's how i feel too. i feel like someone took something that i loved and twisted and contorted it until it was almost unrecognizable. and i don't want to be mean but i think kristin stewart's (bella) acting was just horrid. she blinks like she's got something stuck in her eye and she swallows a lot and she constantly looks like she's uncomfortable or in pain. i could go on and on but that was my main complaint.
thanks! i think it will be a nice weekend.
That cabin looks nice! Kinda reminds me of the cabin I stayed in with B/F's family when we went to TN a few years ago.
OMG! Luke looks so old with his hair cut!
it's very close to TN. it's near the border of south carolina and TN.
I really like Luke's hair and Anna is right, it does make him look older. Your cabin looks amazing and I know you're going to have a great time!
yep, he's growing up! thanks!
Aww Luke looks adorable...and the cabin looks fantastic! Can I come too? LOL You guys will have fun there! I hope your toe lets ya have fun too. Good Luck.
I can't believe the baby still hasn't arrived! When is/was she due?
i'm really hoping my toe will cooperate too. it's still very bruised but i'm able to put more weight on it.
she's not due until april 12th but her doctor has never thought she'd make it that far. she's been having random contractions for weeks now. but they started to get regular the week before last so that's why she thought she was going into labor. her first baby (not my brother's but her ex-husband's) was 3 weeks early.
I'm glad the baby has waited for your work to slow down but I bet you are still going crazy to see her! And I really feel sorry for Jordan. She is probably really ready.
Lukes hair looks so cute. I think he looks older too.
Your cabin is beatiful and the dogs even get their own room! We love that VRBO website. We have used it a couple of times.
she is! but i think the longer margot stays in there, the better. at least at this point. she will be 38 weeks tomorrow (see above about her due date).
oh, i love the VRBO website! i've used it for years. my ex-boss had a cabin in maggie valley on there for awhile and after i saw that i always go there if i want to rent a house or cabin instead of staying at a hotel. you can find some really good deals!
it's near tallulah gorge state park, which is north georgia almost to the south carolina border. very pretty area! it's about an hour-and-a-half away from us.
I got an e-mail about free dining, and I would love to do it. My son's birthday is even during that time, but we just can't afford it. I have to use self control. I am glad your niece didn't come during your busy week, maybe she will come soon.
well, she's not actually due until april 12th but jordan has been having contractions since january, so her doctor has never thought she'd make it to her due date. she'll be 38 weeks tomorrow so she's to the point now where it's safe to have her if she wants to come. her contractions got regular the week before last so that's why she thought she was going into labor. i'm excited about the cabin! can't wait for a little getaway! :yay:
i like it too. i hope we have a decent trip. i hope my toe is cooperating by then! i want to hike down to the gorge. i hear it's beautiful down there. hope you had a great time in alabama! you're probably there right now. i am walking better but the top of my foot is still very bruised. it's very odd! my walking also depends on what shoes i'm wearing. if i'm wearing the one pair of sneakers i can get my foot in without screaming, i'm barely limping. but if i'm wearing loafers or boots for work, i'm limping more because the hard bottom of the shoe doesn't give at all and it hurts to try to bend it against that pressure. i've got 3 weeks to get better!
Hunker down! Bad weather coming your way.
yeah, it was POURING yesterday and then this morning it was storming. i didn't have to leave the house today until around 2:00 and it had stopped raining but the wind was crazy!
no, it's not sad - you're a busy lady!!!! ;) you will have to wait awhile for MVMCP - it was our last night of the trip. but it will be worth the waait - i will say that much!
yeah, the hot tub on the porch sold me! we rented a cabin in helen (a small "alpine" village near us) for our one-year anniversary and it had a hot tub on the porch. it was so nice! the big TV rotated around so you could face it to the porch and watch TV from the hot tub. :thumbsup2 the birds will stay away from me or i'll go buy a bee bee gun! :rotfl:
wow! i just looked to see when the full moon was in july in 1976 (the year i was born) and it was july 11th. i was born a week later, july 18th. but i was two weeks overdue - very stubborn! i bet my mom was hoping that full moon would work for her on the 11th! once her water broke though i was out in 20 minutes - my dad didn't even make it to the hospital in time!
brett's excited but he is very nervous. i don't want to go into details but brett and jordan are not together any more. they've had a very on-again, off-again, tumultuous, dramatic relationship since they were in high school and i'm glad they're not together - they don't need to be. i hope they can both be grownups though and look past their personal issues to be good parents. my parents did it - it can be done! brett is 22 and will be 23 in august. that's young to me but i know people have kids younger than that. he's super excited about being a dad (he's always talked about being a dad and he's always loved kids) but i still think he has a lot of growing up to do. one of the reasons i want to be there so badly is because i know i can keep him calm. plus jordan likes me (i have no idea why - i won't go into how i feel about her here) and i feel like i can help them both out with a sort of uncomfortable situation. but once the baby's here, they're going to have to bite the bullet and be grownups and deal with each other. i can't always be the mediator - i live 300 miles away!!!!
Aww Luke looks so cute with this haircut!
before i continue with the TR i wanted to show you some pictures from last night. me, anna, erin (from my september 2007 TR) and another friend named astra all got together last night and watched "twilight". we have all read the books (anna is actually reading "twilight" now but the rest of us have read the whole series) and we all were VERY disappointed with the movie. so we decided to get together and complain about it. :lmao: i wish i could've recorded us watching the movie. i was laughing so hard i had tears rolling down my cheeks.
for those of you who liked the movie, i'm sorry but i strongly disagree. i think the screenwriter just butchered the book. you have the right to your opinion and i respect that - i just disagree! :laughing: i think the reason i feel so strongly about it is that i loved the book so much and it's like someone took something i love and just chopped it to pieces and tried to hand it back to me on a silver platter. i don't think so!
oh, and you know they're totally going to do a spoof movie (like "scary movie") of "twilight." i can just see it now.
EDWARD: say it......OUT LOUD.
BELLA: you need a breath mint.
:lmao:
that's one of the worst scenes i think, mostly because it's way overdramatic and because it's NOT EVEN IN THE BOOK!!!!!! :headache:
okay, anyway. enough complaining. if i listed everything i didn't like about it we'd be here all night.
chris noticed that we were all color-coordinated and we hadn't even noticed it, so we had to get a picture. we totally didn't plan this!
when i last left you we had just met some really awesome fairies. as we were leaving the hall of fame ray called me and said he was getting on the monorail. i told him just to head towards fantasyland and to call me when he got there. we stopped for a potty break in toon town and then headed back over to fantasyland. look who i saw riding the teacups as we walked by.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/01-14.jpg
my second-favorite female disney character, alice! i was having some great character luck this morning! i asked anna and chris if they wanted to meet them - i'm always up for meeting alice! they said yes so we went over to the area where they always go after they ride the teacups and were the second group in line to meet them.
here they come!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/02-13.jpg
i went first. anna took a few pictures of me talking to alice and the mad hatter. i don't remember the whole conversation but i do remember the mad hatter commenting that i had on the same colors as the queen and asking if i worked for her. i told him of course not, that i just liked red but not as much as her.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/03-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/04-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/05-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/06-14.jpg
next was anna's turn. around this time ray walked up to us - he had seen us before he even had to pull out his phone. so i was talking to him, telling him about my tinker bell experience, and didn't get to see what happened with anna, alice and the mad hatter. but the picture came out cute!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/07-14.jpg
when they tried to get luke to go up there, he wasn't having it. he usually loves characters but he wasn't familiar with the mad hatter and i think his nose was freaking him out! :rotfl2: so chris went instead and got their autographs.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/08-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/08a-1.jpg
i don't know what the mad hatter said here but this picture is hilarious because it looks like chris is arguing with him!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/09-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/10-14.jpg
we split up at that point. first i will tell you what anna and company did.
luke had been dying to ride the tomorrowland speedway. he's really into cars right now so he thought these were so cool! he had loved these when they came to the pirate & princess party last may, too.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/11-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/12-14.jpg
so super cool! :cool2:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/13-14.jpg
those are all the pictures that anna took until we met up with them again, so i'm assuming they just kind of walked around for awhile at that point. i know they ate at cosmic ray's for lunch so i bet that's what they did during this time. she takes more pics than i do so i can't imagine them doing anything else and not having pictures of it!
back to me and ray.....
i told ray uncle scrooge had been out so we went over to get in line to meet him. i love the christmas tree lot theming. so cute!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/14-14.jpg
here we are walking up to get his autograph....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/15-13.jpg
when we stood on either side of him to pose, he shook his head at ray and pointed over to the side. we were like.....huh? the CM working with him said, "he doesn't want you in the picture," to ray. :eek: :lmao: so ray walked over to the side so me and scrooge could get our portrait made together. i was laughing here because i thought that was so funny!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/16-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/17-13.jpg
here i'm telling him that ray's a really nice guy and asking him if he can join us for the picture.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/18-14.jpg
he reluctantly gave in and waved ray over. as they were taking the rest of the pictures, ray said to him, "you really are a scrooge, huh?"
after that ray and i decided to just walk around. neither of us were really that interested in riding anything at MK this trip. we really just wanted to walk around and take it all in and enjoy it. it's the favorite park for both of us and we knew we wouldn't be back for awhile.
we saw pooh walking by in fantasyland. hi, mr. pooh bear!!!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/21-12.jpg
they've changed the name of this store. it used to be called, "tinker bell's treasures." i guess this is to go along more with the movie?
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/22-12.jpg
they've redone the inside of it, too.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/23-12.jpg
make a wish! i love this area. so pretty!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/24-12.jpg
we saw some of my favorite ladies. i wanted to meet them but the CM there said they were getting ready to go have lunch and would be back later.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/25-12.jpg
i was feeling pretty yucky by that point. i hadn't felt that well all morning - nothing major. just a little queasiness. it was around 11:00 at that point, so ray suggested i eat something and it might make me feel better. so we decided to head to casey's. i think it was just ray's evil plot to eat there. he LOVES that place. he could eat there every meal of our trip and be perfectly content.
some pics i took along the way.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/26-11.jpg
the christmas decorations at MK are so classic and festive!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/27-8.jpg
this main street CM had her holiday colors on, too.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/28-10.jpg
we did some shopping before we actually went into casey's. i know i looked at the jim shore pieces to see which one i wanted for this trip. then we headed across the street to the emporium and i shopped while ray went to get some food. he was apparently starving! i got the minnie mouse baby outfit that i gave my brother for christmas for my niece (look at my christmas pictures to see it - in the index under "non-TR stuff"), a 2009 calendar, a tag for the front of my car, a mickey mouse ears santa hat and a couple of other little things and of course i got a castle fleece throw! that thing is my FAVORITE blanket EVER!!!!!! it's SO SOFT. i love it. i won't let the dogs lay on it for fear that they'll ruin it. i will take a picture of it soon and post it here for you.
of course i had this all sent to the front of the park to be picked up when we left later that night. such a GREAT service!!! :thumbsup2
when i called ray when i was done he had already eaten his hot dog. i wonder if he was hungry? :rolleyes:
i then headed towards casey's and while i was in line, anna called me and suggested we meet at noon to watch, "mickey's twas the night before christmas". we had talked about seeing this on that day instead of waiting until MVMCP to see it. i've heard it's really good and there's just SO MUCH to take in at MVMCP. it made more sense for us to get that out of the way. so i took my hot dog to go and we headed that way.
the piano dude was playing at casey's. i love this guy! he's really talented and just loves what he does.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/29-9.jpg
we saw a little mischevious alien on the way. this is one character i haven't met yet - just haven't seen him out and about when i've had the time.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/30-9.jpg
we got to the theater in tomorrowland around 11:30 and got pretty decent seats in the middle. not up front but not far back either. here's the theater.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/32-9.jpg
i ate my food after we got our seats. here's my hot dog (with mustard and sauerkraut), sliced apples and water from casey's.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/31-9.jpg
when anna and company showed up i got their tickets and went and got fastpasses for space mountain for later before the show started. when i got back luke was amusing himself by letting pluto model his sunglasses.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/33-8.jpg
pluto found a seat between me and luke and here he is waiting for the show to start.
Joining the pleas for the Mexican Lasagna recipe -- I wanted to try something new this week and that would be just the ticket! We are huge fans of Mexican food at our house. Please, please, please share the recipe, Dawn! :flower3:
I read all the Twilight books and loved the first three (hated the fourth -- it was so weird), but I have not seen the movie -- I think part of it is that I just didn't picture Bella and Edward looking like that. I would have loved to hear the comments you all made while you watched it!
What a great day at MK -- it must have been cold because all the girl characters have their cloaks and gloves on. Too neat seeing Alice and the Mad Hatter -- I love the goofy expressions he is wearing in all the photos.
I concur with the Twilight movie not being like the book. I understand that you can't put everything in the movie, but they could at least make it right. The Cullens' house in the book is a three story "old" house, in the movie it's all modern! In the book he shows Bella himself in the sunlight when they are in the clearing. in the movie it's on some rock in the woods. I hope they do better with the next movie. I'm rereading the books, and it's nice to have a face with the names.
I would love to have been at your party! I think I probably would've peed my pants laughing!
I'm going to a directors cut party on Fri. It'll be interesting.
Your update was great. It sounds like you had a successful shopping trip too!
Dawn what is in a Mexican lasagna?! Holy mother it looks so good! ;)
Thats too funny with what happened to Ray and Mr. Scrooge! Seriously, I think the CMs who play the characters do such a good job of entertaining the guests and staying true to their character. :thumbsup2 for them. I really want to see your castle throw too, it sounds appealing to me. Can't wait to see pictures from the Twas the Night Before Christmas show, I've heard so many good things about it! :goodvibes
since i've already had a few requests for the recipe, i'll go ahead and share it here!
Mexican Lasagna
Ingredients:
cooking spray
12 oz. cooked chicken
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup salsa of your choice
1 4-oz. can chopped green chiles
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1 teaspoon ground chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (i couldn't find this so i used red pepper)
8 6-inch corn tortillas, cut into 6 wedges
~Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
~grill or bake chicken. When I grilled it, I put some cajun seasoning on it first. Cut chicken into 1-inch cubes.
~Coat 11x7-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
~In a large bowl, combine chicken, sour cream, 3/4 cup of the Mont. Jack cheese, 3/4 cup of the Cheddard cheese, salsa, chiles, cilantro, chili powder and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
~Arrange half of the tortilla pieces in the bottom of the sprayed pan, overlapping pieces slightly to cover the surface. Top with the chicken mixture and smooth over with the back of a spoon to even the top. Layer remaining tortillas on the top and top with remaining 1/4 cup of Mont. Jack and Cheddar cheeses.
~Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 more minutes or until top is golden and bubbly. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. I also sprinkled some chili powder on the top just for looks.
~Top with pico de gallo, sour cream and/or guacamole or nothing at all - whatever way you like it!
Enjoy! :goodvibes
As for Twilight...I totally agree with you that they could've done a much better job with the movie. The movie was ok-ish to me, but only b/c I went in with very low expectations. I like Robert Pattinson, but Kristen Stewart is an awful actress and is not at all what I pictured Bella as!
Your Twilight night sounds like lots of fun! The kids at the school I teach at are all obseeeeessed with Twilight. And Robert Pattinson too! The thing that annoyed me most about the "Say it out loud" scene is that it was totally different from the trailer! In the trailer, when she says, "Vampire", you only see her mouth, really really closely. But the movie didn't have the close-up scene. Weird!! :confused3
Your Mexican food spread looks awesome! I have a question for you though! I went out for dinner with friends tonight, and "pico de gallo" was in a salad on the menu, and we were all trying to work out what it actually was! And now, there it is in your Mexican food! So Dawn, what is pico de gallo!?! We're a bit slow over here in Australia!! :lmao:
Looks like a fun night with the girls! I'll be trying the recipe out soon, too.
All kids like the Tomorrowland Speedway, it seems, since it's like 'real' driving.
I've always thought the Christmas Tree Lot was cool, too. You don't get to see Scrooge much, and Donald is cute in his red and black plaid when he is there.
What a great job the piano guy has! It would be nice to go to Magic Kingdom, do something you enjoy, entertain people, and get paid for it!
Thanks for the Mexican lasagna recipe. I may try that this weekend. It looks SO yummy!
I am relieved to hear that I am not the only one who wasn't thrilled w/ the Twilight movie! I just saw it on Saturday and was so disappointed. I generally find books better b/c I like the pictures in my head :upsidedow but in this case I thought lots of it was just "wrong." And I know it is blasphemy but I just don't think that Robert Pattinson is that cute. Nor do I really like the actor who plays Jacob.
How's your toe?
Any baby news?
Love that you got to meet Tinkerbell. Very cute. Iridessa does look like she liked you quite a bit! :rotfl: Scrooge was funny with Ray!
Thanks for the picture of Fairy Treasurers...I will have to look for that shop when we go back...all that tinkerbell stuff!! So after weeks of being MIA due to work ( :headache: ) and being in WDW ( ::banana: ) I am back and caught up on your TR! Hooray!!!
I think it's hysterical that Ray was so competitive on TSM. Jack always beats me at those things. You did really well though!
I had no clue that the Christmas Story leg lamp was in the Osbourne lights display! That is awesome. :rotfl: You got some great photopass pictures there - I love the black and white one. And I can't believe that in the one of Anna and Chris there is NOBODY in the background. That's a rare sight!
Ewoks talking! Awwwww! Another thing I have never noticed. :ewok:
Dave Cook cracks me up - the time he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel as Tom Cruise was amazing. That was the first time I had ever seen Dane and I thought he was dead on with his impersonation!
OWWW about your toe. I broke mine the same way last summer when I slammed it into a vacuum cleaner. Not fun! I hope it's feeling better. I can't believe it was broken in half :eek:
This line cracked me up: :rotfl:
i wonder what it feels like to be 40 years old and reprimanded by a cast member in toontown at disney world???
Tinker Bell is so cute - this makes me want to brave rope drop next time so i can visit Pixie Hollow (last time I checked it out there was an 80 minute wait - no thanks!). I am very impressed that you recognized her as your Alice from September! I think she definitely makes a better Tink. Also, I want all their shoes :laughing:
Yay you met the Mad Hatter and Alice! I love them. Meeting Alice last fall in Epcot UK was probably my favorite character interaction ever. I have yet to meet the Hatter though, I hear he's hilarious.
my favorite twilight book was "eclipse." if they end up ruining that movie, i'm going to be MAD. it has such great potential. i didn't hate the fourth one but it was rather odd. a lot of it just seemed very far-fetched to me. and i couldn't keep track of all the vampires at the end!
it was chilly at MK that day but nothing like the day before at DHS!
I would love to have been at your party! I think I probably would've peed my pants laughing!
I'm going to a directors cut party on Fri. It'll be interesting.
Your update was great. It sounds like you had a successful shopping trip too!
i TOTALLY agree about the house. i mean, why couldn't they at least get that right? there lots of little things that they just didn't get right. another example - victoria's hair. it was red but not red enough. in "new moon" bella talks about her red hair and how RED it is when she refers to victoria. i mean, all that takes is buying a box of nice 'n easy, for crying out loud! :confused3 let us know about the director's cut party.
Dawn what is in a Mexican lasagna?! Holy mother it looks so good! ;)
Thats too funny with what happened to Ray and Mr. Scrooge! Seriously, I think the CMs who play the characters do such a good job of entertaining the guests and staying true to their character. :thumbsup2 for them. I really want to see your castle throw too, it sounds appealing to me. Can't wait to see pictures from the Twas the Night Before Christmas show, I've heard so many good things about it! :goodvibes
hope you saw the recipe - it's on the previous page.
yes, they definitely do. that's what i love about disney. the character interaction is EXCELLENT (in most cases). i will take a picture of the throw and post it in the next update.
The Mexican Lasagna looks AWESOME!! MUST know how to make :upsidedow
I love the pics with the mean duck!
Looking at these REALLY makes me want to go this December. But I just don't know how we would work it in :guilty: I REALLY need Nov 1st to fall on a Thursday again....but that won't happen for what.....7 years :sad2:
i'm sure you saw the recipe - on the previous page.
good thing that wasn't a real mean duck! i wouldn't have been anywhere near him. :rotfl2:
:hug: you guys will be back - i can feel it! ;)
Great updates! Looks like you girls had a great time. I'm getting ready to start reading Twilight.
You saw a lot of character's that morning! I'm hoping we see Alice and the Mad Hatter when we ride the tea cups. I thought what Ray said to Scrooge was funny! :laughing:
thanks! oh, hope you enjoy twilight. i loved it! couldn't put it down.
i've seen alice and the mad hatter twice now in the morning riding the teacups. ray and i saw them last year and actually rode with them (not in the same teacup, but at the same time) that time. i think it was around 9:30 or so. so go there in the morning and you'll probably see them! :thumbsup2
It's so funny you mentioned, not wanting your niece to be born on April Fool's Day.
I went into labor on April Fool's Day and I said " I can't have this baby on April Fool's Day...I hope this boy can wait until after midnight".
Well, once I was in hard labor, I didn't care what day it was. :rotfl: I wanted him out!
Unfortuneately, I got my wish and it wasn't until the next morning when they decided to do a c-section....after 24 hrs. :eek:
So the joke was on me!
Aaron will be 15yrs old this Thursday April 2 and I can't believe the years have flown by. ;)
I wish her a fast and safe delivery. It should be soon now! :cloud9:
Tink then Alice---- it was your lucky day! I love the scrooge pics too! So much fun and festive!
yeah, we had great character luck that morning!
Thank you Thank you Thank you! for sharing that recipe! Talk about food porn at its best! I don't cook, but I'm gonna make my hubby make this for me soon! Yummmm!
Love your latest installment! Sooo funny about Scrooge!:rotfl2:
As for Twilight...I totally agree with you that they could've done a much better job with the movie. The movie was ok-ish to me, but only b/c I went in with very low expectations. I like Robert Pattinson, but Kristen Stewart is an awful actress and is not at all what I pictured Bella as!
you're welcome! i don't generally cook either because ray is better at it than i am. but i can do a few things and that's one of my specialties.
kristen stewart blinks and swallows a lot and it GETS ON MY NERVES!!!!! i like rob pattinson as edward most of the time. sometimes i'm like......HUH???? like the whole, "you better hold on tight, spider monkey," thing. WHAT WAS THAT? but i know that's not his fault but the screenwriter's. the one thing that bugs me about him as edward though is we all know what we've built edward up to look like our minds, right? well, rob pattinson (not as edward but when he's all scruffy-looking) reminds me of my brother so that's just a little twisted!!!! :scared1:
YUMMMMMMM!!!!
I will be trying that!!
I've been making my own tortilla chips lately.....LOVE IT!! I bake them so much less fat and I can keep up with my calories much better :thumbsup2
**UPDATE** My computer is back and up and running!!! :yay:
Just posted a new update to the Vandy pirate: Girls thread :cheer2:
yep, you saw it! homemade tortilla chips sound good - might have to try that!
Thank you for the recipe! I will be trying it Wednesday -- I hope it comes out looking as yummy as yours! :goodvibes
you're welcome! let me know how it turns out.
Your Twilight night sounds like lots of fun! The kids at the school I teach at are all obseeeeessed with Twilight. And Robert Pattinson too! The thing that annoyed me most about the "Say it out loud" scene is that it was totally different from the trailer! In the trailer, when she says, "Vampire", you only see her mouth, really really closely. But the movie didn't have the close-up scene. Weird!! :confused3
Your Mexican food spread looks awesome! I have a question for you though! I went out for dinner with friends tonight, and "pico de gallo" was in a salad on the menu, and we were all trying to work out what it actually was! And now, there it is in your Mexican food! So Dawn, what is pico de gallo!?! We're a bit slow over here in Australia!! :lmao:
I like this photo....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/21-12.jpg
.... because look, there's a bubble in the air!! Is that what it is!? How cute!!
I'm with Luke - the Mad Hatter freaks me out too!!
So many pretty Christmas decorations!! :yay:
ewwww.....robert pattinson reminds me of my brother. :laughing: i didn't mind him as edward really but i have my own idea in my little head of what edward REALLY looks like. the entire "say it - out loud" scene annoyed me to no end because it didn't exist in the book. okay. well, that's not really what annoyed me. moreso it was that they ADVERTISED the movie with that scene and the fact that they picked a scene that didn't exist in the book that started it all just irks me.
pico de gallo is sort a condiment for mexican food. everyone makes it differently but it usually contains tomatoes and onions. i will post my recipe for it below. ;)
and yes, that is a bubble! :goodvibes
Looks like a fun night with the girls! I'll be trying the recipe out soon, too.
All kids like the Tomorrowland Speedway, it seems, since it's like 'real' driving.
I've always thought the Christmas Tree Lot was cool, too. You don't get to see Scrooge much, and Donald is cute in his red and black plaid when he is there.
What a great job the piano guy has! It would be nice to go to Magic Kingdom, do something you enjoy, entertain people, and get paid for it!
it was! let me know how it turns out if you try it. i think it's really good!
i loved the christmas tree lot idea. unfortunately we never caught donald there but we did get some AWESOME video of him singing there the next night at MVMCP. you will see that soon!
that's the same piano guy that's at casey's every time we're there. i wonder how long he's been there?
Thanks for the Mexican lasagna recipe. I may try that this weekend. It looks SO yummy!
I am relieved to hear that I am not the only one who wasn't thrilled w/ the Twilight movie! I just saw it on Saturday and was so disappointed. I generally find books better b/c I like the pictures in my head :upsidedow but in this case I thought lots of it was just "wrong." And I know it is blasphemy but I just don't think that Robert Pattinson is that cute. Nor do I really like the actor who plays Jacob.
How's your toe?
Any baby news?
Love that you got to meet Tinkerbell. Very cute. Iridessa does look like she liked you quite a bit! :rotfl: Scrooge was funny with Ray!
you're welcome! hope it turns out good.
i usually like books better too just because there's so much more detail and i get to use my imagination. but i agree that twilight was just WRONG. i don't mind rob pattinson but what bugs me is that when he's all scruffy looking he reminds me of my brother. so that's not a good thing! :laughing: i like the dude that plays jacob except his nose bugs me. i think he's got a great smile though and he's playful like jacob. it will be interesting to see him be sort of a jerk in the next couple of movies and also to see how they make him GROW like jacob does.
my toe is still very sore. the area between my big toe and the next one over is still very purple - it's so weird!
see above for baby news.
I must have missed where you gave the baby's due date, I hope for a safe and fast delivery and that your brother and Jordan can work out things enough to be good parents for the baby.
Thanks for the picture of Fairy Treasurers...I will have to look for that shop when we go back...all that tinkerbell stuff!! Colby loves the speedway as well, typically he and James go and ride while I am on Space Mountain. We missed Scrooge when we were down over Thanksgiving...looks like he is a lot of fun.
me too!!!! i know it can be done and i'm just hoping they can grow up and do their best.
that shop is located JUST behind the castle, across from sir mickey's.
Any baby news yet Dawn?
see the top of the last post! :thumbsup2
I agree with everyone on twilight. I know that the movies will never do the books justice but they really just tore that book apart. I just wish they would have shown more of Bella and Edwards relationship and the meadow.
i agree! THE MEADOW!!!!!! they had sort of a semi-meadow scene. and i hated how he showed her himself in the sunlight. he PLANNED the day in the meadow in the book - it wasn't like the movie where he angrily picks her up and carries up "above the cloud bank" so she could see him in the sunlight. grrrrrrrr.
Thanks for the recipe. It looks really good. I'm totally gonna make it.
This is what it looks like Chris is saying. :lmao:
Woot!
hope it turns out good - let me know!
that is so funny!!!! :lmao: i sent that anna!
Great update. You met some really cool characters. My daughter really wanted to meet Alice (she had just read the book), but we never saw her out. I really wanted to meet Scrooge, but the only time we made it by there they were taking Scrooge away and replacing him with Donald. Oh well, next time.
next trip be sure to go over to the teacups early in the morning around 9:30. that's usually when i see her over there.
Thanks for the recipe, my kids love mexican food so I'll for sure give it a try.
It's my DS's bday is on Thursday and I'm doing a Fiesta theme...I bought the same cactus glasses as you have. Only we will be having virgin Margaritas. :laughing:
I'm taking him out to dinner but I'll make him the lasagna on the weekend. :thumbsup2
you're welcome! hope it turns out well. we got those cactus glasses as a wedding gift and i love them! have a fun fiesta!!!!!! :dance3:
So after weeks of being MIA due to work ( :headache: ) and being in WDW ( ::banana: ) I am back and caught up on your TR! Hooray!!!
I think it's hysterical that Ray was so competitive on TSM. Jack always beats me at those things. You did really well though!
I had no clue that the Christmas Story leg lamp was in the Osbourne lights display! That is awesome. :rotfl: You got some great photopass pictures there - I love the black and white one. And I can't believe that in the one of Anna and Chris there is NOBODY in the background. That's a rare sight!
Ewoks talking! Awwwww! Another thing I have never noticed. :ewok:
Dave Cook cracks me up - the time he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel as Tom Cruise was amazing. That was the first time I had ever seen Dane and I thought he was dead on with his impersonation!
OWWW about your toe. I broke mine the same way last summer when I slammed it into a vacuum cleaner. Not fun! I hope it's feeling better. I can't believe it was broken in half :eek:
This line cracked me up: :rotfl:
Tinker Bell is so cute - this makes me want to brave rope drop next time so i can visit Pixie Hollow (last time I checked it out there was an 80 minute wait - no thanks!). I am very impressed that you recognized her as your Alice from September! I think she definitely makes a better Tink. Also, I want all their shoes :laughing:
Yay you met the Mad Hatter and Alice! I love them. Meeting Alice last fall in Epcot UK was probably my favorite character interaction ever. I have yet to meet the Hatter though, I hear he's hilarious.
i REALLY need to get over to your TR and get reading! i've been so busy lately too.
waiting until almost closing time at the osborne lights was great because the crowds were so thin. it was awesome!
dane cook as tom cruise on jimmy kimmel was HILARIOUS!!!!!! i think it was nelly sitting next to him and he was like....WHO IS THIS IDIOT??? :rotfl2:
my toe is still very sore. i've broken many toes in the past and this has been the worst one. maybe i'm just getting old. :rolleyes:
i love alice and the fairies' shoes, too! so cute.
I will. My crew likes different levels of spicy stuff in their Mexican food, so I could make this mild and put salsa on the side. Drew is the one that likes the most heat in his foods, and the rest of us are mild to moderate.
I have only ever seen one other piano guy there, and it seemed weird to see someone else in this guy's place. Some day I need to stop and talk to him and find out his story, since I've seen him and listened to him play so many times. Maybe this summer I'll get a chance to 'interview' him for the trip report!
i'm so mad at my dad right now!!!!!!
i slept in this morning since i was exhausted from a long deposition i had yesterday. around 7:45 my phone rings and it's my dad. he says, "how fast can you get in your car and get up here?" i said, "why?" (still half asleep, mind you.) he says, "because brett just called me and jordan's in the delivery room right now!" i was like, "how come nobody called me when she left to go to the hospital????? oh, my gosh. i'm in bed but i will get up and get on the road right now!!!!!" (all this time getting up and running towards the bathroom to start getting ready.) then he says, "APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!"
:headache::headache::headache:
i was so mad at him. i told him he woke me up and got me all excited and i hated him.
:rolleyes:
i guess it's payback for the time i got him good when i was like 12 years old. he had been out playing golf that april fool's day. he had this lamp in his rec room that we all hated but he loved. it was this ginormous lamp in the shape of a chinese man with a drape around him - something from the '70's for sure. anyway, we also had a huge doberman pinchser named dobey. well, dad comes walking in the door and i'm sitting there with this horrible look on my face. he goes, "WHAT?" i said, "your'e gonna be so mad but dobey knocked over your lamp and it's in about a hundred pieces on the floor." dad just dropped everything and ran towards his rec room with me running behind him saying, "dad, calm down. don't hurt her - she didn't mean to." then he walks into the rec room and his lamp is perfectly fine and i yell, "APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!" payback's a you-know-what.
I got out of the shower this morning to go finish getting ready for school and walk out of the bathroom and my dad goes "Kristen your back tire is either flat or it needs air. I need my car today because I have a Drs. appt so idk how you're gonna get to school." So i'm all mad, cursing and what not. A few mins later i go to look out the window and dont see a flat tire. He starts laughing and is like "april fools!!" I was so mad because I thought i was going to have to rush to the gas station and figure out how to use one of those air machines before i could get to school! :headache: Dad's are pains!! :lmao::rolleyes:
I am really far behind. I just got caught up and still no baby. I am sure that they will be just fine. We had Macey when we were twenty. Young huh? We are 23 now and I don't know what we did without her. My fiances name is Mike and we were together all through high school. We broke up a few times but we are still together (hint:our disneymoon in August:lmao:). Hopefully they can see past the problems and just be great parent to a precious baby.
Sorry to get all personal. I love all your pics with scrooge. All the characters are so animated.
I just bought Twilght. I started reading it At 11:00 Monday night and finished at 6:30 in the morning. Mike thinks I am crazy. I loved it. I just stated the second one. I am afraid to watch the movie I want to like it but I always like the books better.
While everyone is sharing their April Fool's jokes, I thought I'd share mine. This was a long time ago, I was 10 or so and sis was 6 or so..we were in our condo at Myrtle Beach, SC getting reading in the morning. Dad was in the living room watching the weather and mom, sis, and I were sitting in mom and dad's room watching the squirrel on our balcony. He had been on our balcony every morning so far! We decided to play a joke on dad and yelled "OMG dad! The squirrel is in the room! Dad! Come get it out! Dad!" We jumped on the bed and he comes running and as soon as he saw the sliding glass door was closed, we yelled "APRIL FOOLS!" Yes, we're angels. :angel:
for those of you who liked the movie, i'm sorry but i strongly disagree. i think the screenwriter just butchered the book. you have the right to your opinion and i respect that - i just disagree! :laughing: i think the reason i feel so strongly about it is that i loved the book so much and it's like someone took something i love and just chopped it to pieces and tried to hand it back to me on a silver platter. i don't think so!
I agree ;)
[QUOTE=punkin413;31111949]talked to jordan this morning and her contractions are getting more intense. she said she only got 3 hours of sleep last night because they kept waking her up. i guess that means it's getting closer! i hope so - later this week would be perfect for me! i just hope margot can wait until like thursday or friday. my brother CANNOT have a baby that was born on april fool's day - the irony would be overwhelming. :rotfl2:[QUOTE]
Wanna hear a funny story. I was due with my first child on March 23rd. I said many times I don't care if I'm late as long as I don't have it on April 1st because I didn't want the baby to be made fun of. Guess what? Christopher my first son's birthday is on April 1st :lmao:
sorry i've been MIA! i've been trying to enjoy the last couple of days of nice weather we've had because it's supposed to be down in the 30's again by monday night. :headache: we worked in the yard all day yesterday - it was so nice out! and the neighborhood had a easter egg hunt yesterday afternoon that i will share some pictures of later. i'm waiting on anna to send me hers. i got some great video of luke doing the robot that is sooooo funny! :laughing:
no news on the baby front. jordan called me on thursday and said she had just went for her weekly doctor's appointment. they said she's progressing but nothing to "do" at this point but wait. her doctor recommended some raspberry tea to help alleviate the "fake" labor pains and she said that had helped, that the pain was still there but not as sharp and uncomfortable. i really hope she can hold out until at least thursday. i am covering for another court reporter who is out of town this week and it may be difficult for someone to cover for me until then. thursday there's a full moon so i'm crossing my fingers that that may help. i certainly hope the baby doesn't decide to wait until the NEXT weekend (the weekend of 4/17) to come because that's the weekend ray and i are supposed to go to the cabin!
as far as the TR goes, the next update includes videos and i just flat out haven't had time to do them. they always take much longer to upload. i will try my best to get it done soon though!
he actually looks better as edward than he does in real life. i don't think they could've gotten anyone to play edward as i have him pictured in my mind. :rolleyes:
Yay!! Thank you Dawn!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:
That sounds fabulous!! I'm totally going to make some Pico de Gallo on my school holidays!! Yum!!
My guess was totally wrong - I thought it must have been a type of cheese!! :lmao:
you're welcome! i hope you enjoy.
I will. My crew likes different levels of spicy stuff in their Mexican food, so I could make this mild and put salsa on the side. Drew is the one that likes the most heat in his foods, and the rest of us are mild to moderate.
I have only ever seen one other piano guy there, and it seemed weird to see someone else in this guy's place. Some day I need to stop and talk to him and find out his story, since I've seen him and listened to him play so many times. Maybe this summer I'll get a chance to 'interview' him for the trip report!
you could add in some chopped jalapenos for drew if you wanted.
i would love to hear his story - let me know if you ever talk to him!
Getting a chance to talk to CMs that you can never talk to would be fascinating I think. You know they have a story!
i agree!
Ooohhhh, not nice!! (either of you)
i guess i get my mischeviousness (i have no idea if i spelled that right) honestly!
oh dawn....i am soo sorry but...:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
I tried to get my mom this morning and told her that caleb crawled a little bit yesterday but she goes "April fools right??" :headache: That one didn't go very well. Normally I can get her but not today.
it's okay to laugh. i don't get offended easily. :laughing: your mom sounds like a smart lady!
My two teenagers have late start every wednesday.
today i woke them both and told them get up it's tuesday, your late!!
they both jumped up and when i said April fool's, i got the dirtiest looks.:rotfl2:
I'm sure they are planning while in school. ;)
too funny!!! i hope they didn't get you back too bad!
Oh man...you don't joke about that! Shame on him. :rotfl2: I got the kids good today. They sat down and had all their stuff ready to go and I said, "I don't think we should have school today, go ahead back to bed." DS got up and started to leave the table and I started laughing and said, "April Fool's!" :lmao:
i bet he was so peeved at you!!! :rotfl:
:rotfl: oh man that was mean of your dad but it was a good one!
I got out of the shower this morning to go finish getting ready for school and walk out of the bathroom and my dad goes "Kristen your back tire is either flat or it needs air. I need my car today because I have a Drs. appt so idk how you're gonna get to school." So i'm all mad, cursing and what not. A few mins later i go to look out the window and dont see a flat tire. He starts laughing and is like "april fools!!" I was so mad because I thought i was going to have to rush to the gas station and figure out how to use one of those air machines before i could get to school! :headache: Dad's are pains!! :lmao::rolleyes:
dads and their silly jokes!!!!! they think they're SO funny!
OMG what an April Fools to play :rotfl: That was definitely payback :lmao:
ya think? he thought it was hilarious.
Oh, wow! Yeah, that would've ticked me off, too...but :rotfl2: That was definitely a good one! I'm never good at April Fools jokes!
i just don't have it in me to plot against someone but dad ALWAYS takes advantage of a good opportunity for a practical joke.
:lmao: Too funny about your dad! You even had me going, I really thought today was the day until I read on :lmao:
Your Mexican Lasagna looks sooooo good! What a fun night, watching Twilight and complaining about how horrible it was. The movie was soooo bad! I really hope the next three are a million times better.
Love all the MK pics! I love the picture of Cinderella's fountain - I've still yet to see it!
yeah, he thinks he's so funny. :rolleyes:
i do too. i will be so disappointed if new moon isn't better. and eclipse has the potential to be GREAT. i hope they don't screw it up.
No you don't, I haven't started it yet :rolleyes: My dear mother is holding all my pictures hostage (stupid me forgot the camera's big memory card, and had to clean off the tiny one every day by saving the pictures to her laptop). I just can't bring myself to write a TR with no pictures!
Speaking of pictures, I really want to see one of your dad's awesome lamp!
oh, good.....i haven't missed anything! i don't blame you - i would wait for the pictures too. i don't have any pictures of that lamp and, believe me, you're not missing anything!!!! i'm sure he still has it in the attic somewhere.
:lmao::rotfl2:
thanks for an awesome laugh today!!:rotfl:
you're welcome....i think. :laughing:
Gotta love dads!!! That was funny, only because it didn't happen to me! :rotfl:
he definitely got me good.
i made that mexican thing the other night, but used ground turkey and beef mixture that i made into taco meat but the rest of the dish was the same..it was very good, and nice and spicy, i added a bunch of chili powder and cayenne pepperpopcorn::thanks for the idea.
cool! glad you enjoyed it.
I am really far behind. I just got caught up and still no baby. I am sure that they will be just fine. We had Macey when we were twenty. Young huh? We are 23 now and I don't know what we did without her. My fiances name is Mike and we were together all through high school. We broke up a few times but we are still together (hint:our disneymoon in August:lmao:). Hopefully they can see past the problems and just be great parent to a precious baby.
Sorry to get all personal. I love all your pics with scrooge. All the characters are so animated.
I just bought Twilght. I started reading it At 11:00 Monday night and finished at 6:30 in the morning. Mike thinks I am crazy. I loved it. I just stated the second one. I am afraid to watch the movie I want to like it but I always like the books better.
i hope so too. only time will tell!
wow - i can't believe you finished it in one night!!! i read it pretty fast but nothing like that. the last one (breaking dawn) took me longer than the others but i think it's because i didn't want it to end so i read slower. :laughing:
That would have been a rude awakening. Were you able to get anymore sleep?
no. i just got up. but i needed to get up anyway so i didn't mind!
Aw, poor Dawn. :hug: That was not cool getting woken up like that!
While everyone is sharing their April Fool's jokes, I thought I'd share mine. This was a long time ago, I was 10 or so and sis was 6 or so..we were in our condo at Myrtle Beach, SC getting reading in the morning. Dad was in the living room watching the weather and mom, sis, and I were sitting in mom and dad's room watching the squirrel on our balcony. He had been on our balcony every morning so far! We decided to play a joke on dad and yelled "OMG dad! The squirrel is in the room! Dad! Come get it out! Dad!" We jumped on the bed and he comes running and as soon as he saw the sliding glass door was closed, we yelled "APRIL FOOLS!" Yes, we're angels. :angel:
tell me about it!
that's so funny about your dad! :rotfl:
I agree ;)
Wanna hear a funny story. I was due with my first child on March 23rd. I said many times I don't care if I'm late as long as I don't have it on April 1st because I didn't want the baby to be made fun of. Guess what? Christopher my first son's birthday is on April 1st :lmao:
ironic!!!! that's crazy. at least it's a good story. :laughing:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so when i last left you we were waiting for mickey's twas the night before christmas to start. i had heard this show was really good and i was excited to see it. please excuse the glare in some of these photos. the show was at high noon so the sun was BEAMING down on us and there's a glare in some of them. first i will post the pictures and then the videos.
the curtain opened to singers and dancers dressed in red and green and singing "we need a little christmas."

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/04-15.jpg
you know, i have to say that i'm always so impressed with the entertainment CMs at disney. they are so talented! i could watch people sing and especially dance for hours and never get bored!
then mickey appeared with this big "twas the night before christmas" book and dressed in his PJs!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/05-15.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/06-15.jpg
minnie was dressed for bed too. here they are walking hand in hand.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/07-15.jpg
i know cammie mentioned this in her report awhile back but i just have to mention it, too. don't you find it so scandalous that mickey and minnie share a bed in this show????? :upsidedow
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/08-15.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/09-15.jpg
then they dreamed of sugar plum fairies......and hippos!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/11-15.jpg
time to dance!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/12-15.jpg
then the music picked up and some friends joined in the fun!

along with some furry, silly toy soldiers.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/22-13.jpg
then the ballerinas danced in toyland. i have to say that this guy must have been an understudy because we saw him mess up a few times. and the white hair with the dark skin just looks very odd to me! :laughing: but he smiled all the way through his performance!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/23-13.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/24-13.jpg
then it was time for SANTA!!!!!

i loved goofy as santa! he was great.
minnie decided to tell santa what she wanted for christmas by singing, "santa baby" to him. this was a really cute part of the show. i laughed a lot during this part.

mickey's like, "what the heck is up with this? that's MY woman and she's singing to GOOFY!!!!"

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/36-8.jpg
as in the story, santa disappeared quickly. i knew he'd be popping up somewhere because he still had to say the famous line at the end of the story. i just happened to be looking to my right when he popped up over the wall! i was very lucky to get a shot of him - he's not there long!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/37-8.jpg
the big finish! all the characters come out and sing along. and it SNOWS!

again, i just love pluto in this picture.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/42-6.jpg
this cracked me up. as the curtain started to come down, the characters (and some of the CMs) laid down on the floor so they could see us until the very last second. it was cute!

the ones on stage in front of the castle can open and close there eyes, and move there mouths open and closed some...i think it is some of the new styles for the show characters, where the ones that you meet for character signings still cant open and close there eyes
one that we meet at the character connection in Epcot, was able to wiggle his nose up and down, it was pretty cool

Dawn loved that show. I think that's going on my list of to see's.
I noticed that Minnie and Mickey's eyes close during the show (in bed)....I wonder if all of the Minnie and Mickey costumes can do this or if these are special ones for the show.
I noticed that too, and their mouths moved. Cool.:thumbsup2

I thought Mickey and Minney were always married, since like, the 30's. :confused3
Do they do each section on a different stage, or do they hurry up and swap sets on the same stage?
Pretty cool they have a barely-noticeable Zurg on the toy part of the show.

I'm so glad that you posted those videos! I know that it will probably be a LONG time until I'm there during Christmas time, so it was a lot of fun to watch.
And, why is it that Plutos tongue hangs out all of the time? I know that it's part of who he is, but I was just looking at that when the characters were taking a bow after the show. Hmm...
And to respond to your Mickey/Minnie in bed together? Yeah, a little weird. Like, I know that they "date", but still weird. :laughing:

Great pictures and videos. Makes me look forward to our December trip.
I hope you get your niece this weekend. She will be nuts about her Auntie Dawn! I hope it all goes well for all of the family for an easy delivery and a happy, healthy little Margot! I'm going back to Alabama tomorrow, so we'll be checking in from down there. It has to be any day now!

no margot update yet! i talked to jordan yesterday and she said she had gone to the doctor for her weekly appointment. her midwife gave her herb droplets to put in hot tea that are supposed to help "move things along." she started taking it this morning so she's hoping for something soon. i am off tomorrow (friday) and monday so this weekend would be great. and jordan said her mom is going out of town on the 15th (wednesday) so she's really hoping for it to happen before then. our wedding anniversary is monday so i hope to be home by then but if not it's not a big deal. our mountain getaway (the next weekend) is when we're celebrating anyway. who knows - we may get an easter baby! saturday is my stepmom's (margot's grandma) birthday so that would be neat too.
Awesome Update Dawn!!!!!!!!! I loved all the pictures of the performers its funny to catch some in action. I will watch the videos tomorrow before school. :goodvibes I hope the baby comes on Sunday just as planned. :cutie: But if she does come a day early that would be cool too cause that is my Birthday!!
I want some pineapple goodness right now.
thanks! that's my stepmom's birthday, too. happy early birthday! :goodvibes i could use some of that pineapple goodness!!!
GREAT update Dawn!:thumbsup2 What fun this show was, my kids would have loved it! (shoot, who am I kidding, I would have loved it). Your videos and pics made me feel like I have seen it though so thank you! Yes, quite a scandal they are sharing the same bed, interesting:confused3. Can't wait for more.
Lesley
thanks! maybe one day you guys can see it in person.
Awww, that looks like so much fun!! I love Mickey and Minnie's pj's - so cute and cosy!! And yes, how raunchy that they're sleeping in the same bed!!! So naughty, Mickey and Minnie!!! :scared1:
Dawwwwwwn! Now you're reeeeeally making me want to go to Disney at Christmas time!! :rolleyes:
they are cute, aren't they? i by no means am intending to tempt you to go to disney at christmas time. but just remember we will be there probably the first week of december 2010. :rolleyes1
:lmao: about Minnie and Mickey and the same bed. Tsk tsk! :rotfl2:
What a cute show -- I didn't even know they did something like that. Was it over in Tomorrowland?
naughty, huh? :upsidedow yep, it was in the theater near the carousel of progress.
What a lovely treat this morning. the show looks so cute!! That is shocking that Minnie and Mickey are in bed together and not married... very un-Disney. I also notice a ring isn't on her christmas list :rolleyes1
glad i could brighten your morning! i wonder if daisy and donald are married? just a thought. i bet minnie couldn't fit anything else on her list! :laughing:
Another great update! I love all the pics and video. I missed that show our Dec trip, darn! Hope that your niece comes soon!
thanks! maybe you guys can get back during the holidays sometime. i hope my niece is here soon too!
LOVED the update! When we went in Dec. 07, we didn't get to see the show and I was bummed...so, I loved being able to watch your videos! We're hoping to go back in Dec. 2010...this makes me want to even more!:)
glad you got to see them, then! we're going back in 2010 too! probably early december.
Awwww that is definitely one of the cutest shows I've seen (vicariuosly through others!) I read somewhere the other day that it might not be back next year...idk how true that is but I hope its not because EVERYONE who talks about it says how great it is! :goodvibes
oh, i hope it comes back. i've never heard anyone who didn't like it.
That looks like a really cute show. I didn't realize they did the Christmas shows during the day, I thought they only did them during the Christmas party.
it was! if my memory serves me correctly, i believe they start showing this throughout the day on a couple of saturdays in mid december through the week of christmas when they start doing it every day. i think that satuday (which was the 13th) was the first saturday they did it. when i heard this i wanted to advantage of it because there's SO MUCH to take in at the party and that was one less thing to worry about!
THat show looks soo cute! I was thinking it was scandoulous (sp?) of mickey and minnie seeing each other in their PJ's before you mentioned they were sharing a bed. :scared1: I soo want to go in early december sometime so I can see the xmas decorations.
it's so funny how we all think it's scandalous! :rotfl: we were gonna go the first weekend of december this year but when i found out the ABC xmas parade taping was that saturday i postponed it a week. but i think in 2010 we're gonna go the first week because we will be there for longer and can avoid MK on that day.
Wow, that looks like an awesome show! Those pictures are great. I'm sorry, I'm having a brain fart and trying to do two things at once-but where was this show at?
it was really cute! it was at the theater that's just to the right of the carousel of progress in tomorrowland.
The show looks so cute! I don't think I'll get to Disney around Christmas anytime soon, so it was fun getting to see the show :thumbsup2
glad you enjoyed it!
I believe when she was singing "Santa Baby", the ring was on her wish list then, and Mickey got really nervous at that.
i do believe you're right!

it's so fun at christmas - maybe one day you can convince him! thanks!
I noticed that Minnie and Mickey's eyes close during the show (in bed)....I wonder if all of the Minnie and Mickey costumes can do this or if these are special ones for the show.
i think dan already answered this. i know they started this last year with the castle show and i guess they're integrating it with other shows too. but the ones you meet are still stationary.
That was soooo awesome! What a great show!
it was so fun!
Last December was the first time I watched this show and it was amazing! I LOVED it. All of the characters....:hug: I'll make sure to see it again if there's ever a chance! Your pics turned out great!

I thought Mickey and Minney were always married, since like, the 30's. :confused3
Do they do each section on a different stage, or do they hurry up and swap sets on the same stage?
Pretty cool they have a barely-noticeable Zurg on the toy part of the show.
i googled it and found this: Through all the years, Mickey and Minnie remained friends – they never married on screen. In 1933 Walt Disney wrote, “In private life, Mickey is married to Minnie.” He later said Mickey and Minnie had to live “happily ever after” because in their land of make-believe there is never a marriage. A 1932 cartoon showed Mickey dreaming he was married, and he was pictured as a groom on a 1935 sheet-music cover.

who knows if that's reliable or not! let's just say they're soul mates and leave it that. :love:
about the stage, they hurry up and change sets, but it's just by flipping over the big cardboard back wall. the videos show it, i think. i will have to go back and look for zurg! i never noticed that before.
have we come to the bloody nose yet? or did i miss it?
nope, you didn't miss it. let's just say the bloody nose will be part of the grand finale.

I saw that link. There is a lot of conflicting info about Mickey and Minnie online. Some sites say they're married, some say they've just been courting for the last 75 years. :laughing:

cool! maybe we'll end up going at the same time. i need to write that down somewhere - we could do a photopass share if you're interested! we were thinking of leaving december 4th and staying a week so we may cross paths at some point. but of course that's a long ways away. who knows what could happen between now and then? we're probably going to start trying to get pregnant this summer and depending on how successful we are, there's a chance i could be very pregnant in december 2010. if that's the case the trip will be put on hold. i hope not though! hopefully when we go we will have a little one with us!

thought i'd do a short update on this rainy, dreary good friday!
so after the awesome show we decided to split up again for awhile. first i'll tell you what anna, chris and luke did. of course i don't know every detail but i do have all her pictures so they sort of tell the story.
first.....ICE CREAM!!!!!!

ice cream is always a good thing.
then it looks like they walked around fantasyland for a bit.....

so pretty......
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/December132008DisneyDay3MagicKin-6.jpg
then it was story time with belle! i do remember that they texted me to tell me they were doing this. ray and i did it in april and so we passed. it was really cute, but i think we were across the park at that point.
i love this area. it's so realistic and old-world-looking.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/December132008DisneyDay3MagicKin-8.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/December132008DisneyDay3MagicKin-10.jpg
meanwhile, back with dawn and ray......
after the show ray and i decided to go do a little christmas ornament shopping. i snapped this along the way. this must have been the show before the one anna, etc. saw! or actually that might be a meet and greet because i think i see a daddy holding a pen for belle to use.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08901.jpg
i love this fountain. i usually try to get the crown on her head but i just wanted a close up this time.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08902.jpg
we saw the fairy godmother on the way. i met her last april so we didn't stop, just waved as we walked by.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08903.jpg
i love pictures of the castle where you can't see anything else in MK. it looks like a real castle out in the middle of the woods somewhere.....princess:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08905.jpg
we made it to our destination, the christmas shop in liberty square. i snapped this for erica.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08906.jpg
we browsed around for awhile and i ended up getting these two ornaments.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08913.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08914.jpg
the castle lights up by inserting a christmas tree light into the bottom. i took a picture of it on my christmas tree that i will show you later. when i was checking out i overheard the CM telling another customer that christmas ornaments were 50% off!!!!!! :woohoo: i asked her how long that sale lasted and she said for the next few days. so i made a mental note to come back and get more ornaments before we left. and BOY DID I EVER!!!!! you will have to wait and see what i bought during MVMCP. popcorn::

after that we decided to go over to adventureland to get one of our favorite treats. i know there is some serious lackage in the attraction department but we really just wanted to take in the atmosphere of MK on this day. we rode a couple of things but i really did enjoy just sort of walking around taking it all in. this was my 3rd trip that year and i didn't need to ride everything - just enjoy myself! besides, i knew i wouldn't be back for awhile so i was fine with that.
i found a seat near aloha isle while ray went to get our treat. i think this area is so pretty.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08915.jpg
as i was sitting there i noticed a plaid-vested CM walking by. i knew these were the VIP tour guides and they cost a lot of money so i thought he was picture-worthy. little did i know that ray would be in the picture, too! he looks like a man on a mission to consume his dole whip float! :rotfl2:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08916.jpg
this is ray's FAVORITE snack in all of WDW. i love it too but he talks about these all the time. doesn't he look so peaceful and serene? :lmao:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08917.jpg
this is the way a dole whip float is MEANT to be eaten.....all mixed together until you get the perfect slushy consistency.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08920.jpg
ray in sweet, tangy heaven.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08921.jpg
of course he shared with me.....reluctantly. :laughing:
we decided to take a stroll through adventureland and back into frontierland. i saw my favorite disney character along the way.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08923.jpg
i love this picture. it was such a pretty day!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08924.jpg
holy frontierland crowds, batman!!!!!! :eek:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08925.jpg
that was a saturday and i knew MK would be crowded, but geez. we just normally go at slow times so we're not used to these crowds.
we decided to head towards the haunted mansion to take a ride. when we got there we saw this.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08926.jpg
i don't think i've ever seen a 30-minute wait for the HM. but the worst part wasn't that. the worst part was that that wait time was TOTALLY wrong. the CMs just hadn't changed it yet. they were re-roping the queue and it stretched all the way back to the liberty boat entrance. here you can see the CMs telling people where the line ends.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC08927.jpg
no, thank you! we decided to forego our HM ride and head towards fantasyland.
next up.....my EXCELLENT view for philharmagic and a girls-only trip to space!

Dole whip float....pure pineapple perfection!!! Yummo! :dance3:
I bought a pineapple for Easter breakfast, I'm craving it now...thanks :laughing:
The crowds were heavy, I don't blame you for not waiting in that line. :eek:
Last trip Aaron and I got in line for Peter Pan and it said 20 mins wait. We got in line only to wait about 45 mins....not happy but what can you do. :headache:
Very cute tree ornaments, I can't wait to see what else you got. 50% off, I would have gone crazy too! ;)

A DOLE whip is definately on my list of things to try next visit, and Story Time with Belle. Can't believe I haven't seen that show yet. Your ornaments are great!

NY Bagels and Pizza a must! It sounds like you have your days packed..its so funny for me reading a touring plan of where Im from lol but you have a great one.There are soooo many places I could tell u to eat and all top notch depending on your taste.Brooke is in CT so it seems she knows her stuff about NYC.You will have a blast and I can tell u the locals have a tendency to walk really fast and drivers do not stop often for pedestrians around here lol Shopping is awesome in the village and if you go to Macys on 34th they actually have half numbered floors..my dd thinks its soo cool :rotfl:

Sounds like a great plan.
My 2 cents: Make sure when you go to the Met you don't pay full price. It is a SUGGESTED DONATION so you can pay 2 bucks if you feel like it.
There's a place called Blockhead's that has outdoor seating and cheap drinks that are really good! It's on 50th between 8th and 9th. They are open late too.
Also there is the ferris wheel inside toys-r-us, thats fun.
In China town there's an awesome place for rice pudding - http://www.ricetoriches.com/(37 Spring Street between Mott and Mulberry St), if you like rice pudding that is.
Thats all I can think of! Just have a great time wandering and relaxing and seeing the city!

OMG it looks so crowded! :scared1: Thank God they all left before we got there! I LOVE the pic of the castle...you're so right. It looks like a real castle out in the woods! How sweet would it be to live in a castle!? :hug:
Ya know I've never tried the Dole Whip. I have to in Aug. I love the cappucino float and it looks similar to that only with pineapple juice right? I like pineapple so I'll probably like the dole whip too.
We need to do the Belle thing again. We haven't done that since '06. The kids really enjoyed it. They were both called up to play a part.
You got some great shots of the fountain and wishing well! :thumbsup2 Great update!!!

So jealous, you are eating in places I have wanted to try. :rotfl2:
The plans look great. For a bagel see if someone has a H&H Bagel sign in there window. Some of the best in the city.
I would do the MET first and then explore the park and work your way down south then you will be closer to Ellen's.
And don;t get in a van for a fake Louis in Chinatown. :lmao:

Great update and pics.
I love those floats.
That castle ornament is awesome, wish I saw one.
It did look like a nice day (except for the crowds).

:laughing: Hey Dawn! I just typed out a huge, awesome reply and lost it all :headache::headache: UGH! OK, I'll start over because I want you to have an amazing trip!
Your plans look good, but I'd honestly switch your days around. How set are you on visiting MOMA? It's one of the only museums in the city with an actual admission fee and it's not worth the money. We went for the first time this past summer and were just glad we got in for free (NBC used to sponsor the place so my parents and aunt got in, and I used my school ID). I'm usually a big fan of anything off-beat and different (Rocky Horror's one of my favorite movies and I love all the small and usually over-the-top experimental shows in the village), but this was just too much. I would have been pissed if I paid $20 to see an entire room full of blank white canvases. There was also a video of a naked woman hula-hooping with barbed wire and it was beyond disturbing. I'm all for the freedom of artistic expression but I mean, come on! Plus the museums really small and a rip off, to be honest. Definitely go if your heart's absolutely set on it, but I wouldn't even waste your time. It's always packed, and is so small that you really feel the crowds. It's a tourist trap!
I love the idea of spending your first night in Times Square. Nothing else is as quintessentially New York! Unless you're doing all the touristy stuff in the area (Madame Tussauds, Ripley's, etc) a night is the perfect amount of time to stroll around and take in all the sights and lights.
On your first full day, I'd spend the day checking out midtown. I'd actually start at the Top of the Rock. It's nowhere near as crowded as the Empire State Building, but it's slowly getting there. The view from the building is indescribable. I went with my ex and one of my best friends back in 2007 and after 22 years in the city, I'd still seen nothing like it. The view out over Central Park and the rest of the city is gorgeous! What made it really special, though, was how empty it was. Going early will give you the most peaceful view out over New York you'll ever see... looking down over the loud hustle and bustle of the city in the still and quiet of being so high up is magical. Go early to avoid the crowds, you won't regret it!
Rockefeller Center is one of my absolute favorite parts of the city, it's gorgeous! After the Top of the Rock you could walk around for a while and see the plaza, and probably even the taping of the Today Show. Rockefeller Center's in-between 5th and 6th Avenues so you can walk right over to 5th and have a great view of St. Patrick's Cathedral right down the block. My grandparents renewed their vows for their 50th Anniversary there last May and it's absolutely gorgeous in there! Then you can head up 5th to the World of Disney. Make sure to see if the characters are out! FAO Schwartz is nice, but not the same as it used to be since it closed down and reopened a few years ago. A lot of the fun little accents and larger-than-life toys are gone. It's more of a regular (overpriced) toy store now. It's around 10 blocks from Rockefeller Center (and they're pretty short blocks) so it isn't a bad walk if you're up for it. It's right on the edge of the park.
Then you can walk the two blocks over to 7th Ave and go back down 7th Ave to Ellen's Stardust Diner for a late lunch, which you're gonna love! The food isn't anything authentic but the place is so much FUN! It's regular diner food but we've loved it every time we've gone, and you can't beat the entertainment. They all have great voices and it's like stepping right into Grease! :laughing: The reason why I say to switch the days is since you have a deadline with going to see Wicked. Besides Top of the Rock, all the stuff you do today will involve just walking around, shopping and taking in the sites, which you can do at your own pace without feeling like you're missing anything. You'll have plenty of time to do it all, and still have time to head back to the hotel to freshen up for the show.
Then the next day I'd get up early and head over to the upper east side (do you watch Gossip Girl?!! :lovestruc) Both the Met and Central Park are huge and gorgeous and you'll definitely want time to explore them without being rushed. I'd head over to the Met first. Like Kat said, it's a suggested donation. They want you to pay $20, but only the tourists who don't know about the suggested donation policy actually do. I have friends and professors who pay a dollar! My friend Mike and I are going this Thursday and that's what I plan on paying :laughing: I know it sounds cheap, but I'm a poor college student! :lmao: Seriously, they're used to being given all sorts of crazy amounts and no one bats an eye. Pay whatever you feel comfortable paying. I'm absolutely in love with the Met :lovestruc It's BEAUTIFUL and the art in there is truly awe-inspiring. Be sure to check out the exhibit on Arms and Armour. It's one of the more unusual and fascinating parts of the museum! You can spend a good two or three hours in there, easily.
Central Park is another one of my absolute favorite parts of the city. People who haven't been there before don't know what to expect. Seeing how crammed and hectic New York is, they usually expect a giant lawn ;) It's really an incredible place full of gardens, meadows, waterfalls, lakes and more famous landmarks and statues than you can imagine. Be sure to find the Alice in Wonderland statue, it's really cute! Again, you can easily spend hours strolling through the park and finding all the gorgeous nooks and crannies. After a while the sound of the traffic disappears and you almost forget you're in the middle of New York. The place is pure magic - some of my favorite memories are from the park! It's on the other side of the park and is a trek, but if you're feeling ambitious you could even walk across the park to the Imagine Memorial right by the Dakota - must-see's for any Beatles fan.
You can (and will, I'm telling you!) spend most of the day strolling around the museum and park. Both places can be all-day activities, so it's best to at least give each one at least a few hours. Have you made reservations at the Mesa Grill yet? Try to make later ones (for around 7:00) so you'll still have plenty of time to head back to the hotel to change and relax before heading out for dinner and drinks :thumbsup2 The Mesa Grill's really, really good!
Your Monday sounds great! The WTC is a must-see for a lot of people, but there's so much construction going on now that there's not much to see. It's definitely a good place to pay your respects and stop to reflect, but the entire area is just really sad. The Statue of Liberty is downtown too, so you'll have a great view out over the Harbor. Make sure to check out the village! They have the cutest little offbeat stores and cafes. I love it down there! Chinatown and Little Italy are fun too. I'd get pizza on this day! There's nothing like NY pizza, especially in Little Italy! And wave to me as you pass into Brooklyn! :laughing: Do you know what part of BK your sisters friends are in? There are so many great parts of Brooklyn people never get to see when they don't cross the bridge. Like they said on the promos for the Real World Brooklyn, "The Real New York Is Just Across the Bridge." :lmao::lmao:
OK, that's it! I can't believe I just retyped all that :lmao::lmao: Really, switch the days! There's no way you can do the Met and Central Park in half a day, and then make your way completely across the entire park to Ellen's, while trying to get back to the hotel in time to change and get ready for Wicked. I know you said you didn't mind, but the Met and Central Park (and even Ellen's!) are a BILLION times better than MOMA. This way everything you want to do (and eat) is in the same area on both days, and you can do and see it all without having to rush. You'll love it, I'm telling you! I just wrote you an entire book so I'm gonna stop here... I should be a travel agent! :lmao: Keep us updated on your plans :goodvibes
Oh, and don't forget to get bagels. Seriously, there's nothing like NY bagels... they're almost better than the pizza.

cool! maybe we'll end up going at the same time. i need to write that down somewhere - we could do a photopass share if you're interested! we were thinking of leaving december 4th and staying a week so we may cross paths at some point. but of course that's a long ways away. who knows what could happen between now and then? we're probably going to start trying to get pregnant this summer and depending on how successful we are, there's a chance i could be very pregnant in december 2010. if that's the case the trip will be put on hold. i hope not though! hopefully when we go we will have a little one with us!
Awww! A baby! :cool1:
But assuming y'all still go (hopefully with a baby in tow), then I'd love to do a photopass share! I'll make a note of it in my Disney folder! ha!
Great new update! Can you believe in all my WDW trips, I've NEVER had the Dole Whip! I'm not a big pineapple fan, but it DOES look tasty! might just have to give it a try next time!
