Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you are feeling better. I've mostly been a lurker of late, but always enjoy your trip reports.

Your NYC trip sounds great. I was there for a day trip over the holidays. It is beautiful at Christmas time. You have so many great things planned. Wicked is WONDERFUL! And the NYC things at the Disney Store are really nice. Just a personal preference, but I recommend the Museum of Natural History. There are just so many great things to do in NYC. Don't forget to check out Toys R Us. Was Ray ever into Legos? They have unbelievable displays there!

Here's a link to a restaurant we really like there. http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com/index2.htm. I think another poster mentioned John's Pizzeria as well. It used to be a church. It's very good and quite reasonable. Happy planning! Looking forward to reading more...:)

I mentioned John's earlier. It is a great space, and I remember thinking that it was pretty spacious, especially for NYC restaurant space standards! We were not seated right on top of the table next to us!

Yikes! about your arm. I hope you are ok. That's ok....it grossed me out a little too, and I wasn't even there!

Hope you are ok!

Years ago when my son was three (he's now 26), he fell getting out of the bath tub and split open his chin. I too saw that gloppy stuff coming out of his cut, but I was home alone with him and had to stay calm in order to keep him calm. I called the doctor and brought him in right away. The doctor said the stuff was fat and he just put it back in, but my son did need one stitch to close the cut.

Stairs are so dangerous. I have taken some bad falls over the years too. I was coming down the stairs once carrying the same son mentioned above when he was just a few months old and fell all the way down from the top. I don't know how I managed to hold onto him, but I did. I went all the way down on the back of my body. I had a huge gigantic bruise on the back of my thigh. It was so gross.

Hopefully you won't be too sore tomorrow.

OH MY WORD!!!!!
What was it? Sorry if I am being a dumdum, but what in the heck was it that was coming out of your arm????? Well, I hope your arm feels better!!!! Hopefully you didn't do nothing superbad except for the cut!

That's practice for dealing with your future kids. Oh, the war stories I could tell with my kids - the boys especially. But even Jill managed to get her 'grossness' in when she spilled a 400+ degree pot pie on her leg (straight out of the oven) and it gave her third degree burns and the most god-awful big blisters you have ever laid eyes on. She had to go to the doctor daily for about two weeks for him to peel off yucky skin and smear it with new gunk and rewrap it. I won't even go into some the things the boys have managed to do! Suffice it to say, I've seen my share of fat globules, bones, blood, etc.

Be sure it stays nice and clean. You'll be sore in the morning. Any time we have any kind of fall, it hurts in places you don't even realize you hit. You'll probably feel bruised inside and out. I'm glad nothing was broken, though.

I would like to have seen a video of Ray's big leap down to rescue you! What a guy! He vaccums and rescues damsels in distress!!!

it was arm fat! yuck!!!! and what's wierd is that it's on the underside of my arm between my wrist and elbow and i have relatively thin arms. so i would hate to see what it would look like if i did that to my thunder thighs! :rotfl2:

when i told my sister what happened she said she was going to have nightmares that my arm fat was attacking her. :lmao:

i have to say that watching willis mcgahee get hurt in the game just now made me feel like an idiot freaking out about my little cut. i feel so bad for him. i don't want to ravens to win but i certainly don't want anyone to get hurt, either. and he got hurt in college playing for miami. poor guy.

Oh, no, Dawn!!! That is so horrible about your arm -- I would be screaming, too! Gelatinous mounds should never come out of one's arm!

Hope your arm feels better soon.

Oh Dawn!! Keep an eye on that so it doesn't get infected !! My DD doesn't handle the kids getting injured well either . I arrive at the ER and the staff send her out , cuz they don't want to deal to with 2 casualities !:rotfl2:
Anyway hope you are OK:grouphug:

See? Us grandmas think alike. Just keep it nice and clean and you should be just fine. You'll probably keep a little mark there for the rest of your life. It'll be subtle, but you'll probably always be able to see it faintly.

NYC is the best city! The energy is indescribable. pixiedust: The pizza is amazing but you've also got to try a dirty water dog. :cloud9:

As far as your arm goes, check out pics of my leg from Sept in my trippie on pg 183. Cut straight to the bone with gobs of gooey fatty tissue. :crazy2: Feel better.

Jeez I hope your arm is ok!!!

As far as NYC...ya know I am just a train ride away as well....and Serendipity (despite the closing and what not) is still GREAT. We were there for my birthday and it was fabulous as always.

We really should work on a DIS meet if you aren't too busy! If you need any help with anything let me know!

If it's red around the edges where it was cut, you'd better get it checked out. You should know after reporting so many depos what can happen if it's infected. :crazy2: Heal fast!

I hope your arm is feeling better! Like previous people have said, you realy should get it checked out if it continues to bother you. After my first c-section, I watch my incision rupture in front of my eyes, so I know all about the gross stuff. I thought I was going to pass out when that happened :faint: .

i will be back later to do some replies. in the meantime i wanted you all to know i'm feeling better. the cut itself looks WAY better. it was just a very shallow surface cut. the way my arm hit the metal, it just sort of sliced it, but not very deep - just enough to let that gunk out! it didn't hardly bleed at all. it's a clean cut and doesn't look red at all except for where the actual cut is. the skin around the cut is perfectly normal-looking.

i put hydrogen peroxide on it this afternoon and that STUNG but i know i need to do it to keep it clean. and i loaded it up with more neosporin and put another band aid on it.

the bone that runs up the back of my arm (the one that's between your wrist and elbow and close the skin) is VERY SORE, so sore that when eli rubbed up against it while walking by me on the couch i yelled in pain and sat there for at least 5 minutes trying to not to scream obscenities! but other than that i'm okay.

in other news we woke up this morning with no heat! i got up around 8:30 (we're both off work today) freezing and i went to check the thermostat and it was blank. so ray got up to look at it and it wasn't working at all. we called a heating/air company and the guy that came out around lunchtime checked and said that our wiring was done incorrectly and we're lucky that our house hasn't burned down before now. :faint: he let us keep the wires and they're both very black and look as if they're burned. i'm going to write a letter to our builder telling him about this. it's no longer under warranty because we've been here since 2004, but that's ridiculous and he needs to know about it. we're very lucky. he also said that our electric bill should improve now. and he only charged us $80! :thumbsup2

hope you all have had a nice holiday!

What a fall, you must have been so scared of broken bones. I am so glad you feel better and Ray was there to help with the first aid. He is a keeper. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad I've never seen that gloopy stuff, I think it may be too much for me. (I was glad you didn't take a photo) Luckily, my kids havn't hurt themselves like that. :scared:

NY is super fun... the subway system makes sense too! A girls trip to NY-awesome Dawn! That is a fun World of Disney store too! Have you seen Wicked before?

nope, haven't seen wicked. the only broadway shows i've seen are chicago and the lion king. but those weren't "real" broadway shows because i saw them in atlanta. i'm really looking forward to it!

Hellllllllllllllllllllo Justin Timberlake! :thumbsup2

::yes:: he's my other husband.

Dawn, I'm so excited for you. Going to NY is a dream of mine. When my oldest daughter graduates from nursing school next year this may be our
celebration trip. I want to hear all about it.

oh, don't worry! i will share. i'll start a pre-trip on the community board when i'm done with this one so i won't lose you guys!

Congrats on the booking! You'll totally have a blast there. You'll get your character fix at the World of Disney! Ds has been wanting to go to NYC for a while now. Hopefully we can take him sometime soon. The rooms might be small but they're really cute! The art headboard is a great idea.

oh, i'm definitely gonna check out what characters are gonna be there when we go. i know there's a number you can call to see what characters are there. i hope we get some cool art on our headboards!

Awesome that you are going to NYC!!!! That's going to be such a blast!

I saw "Wicked" in NYC a couple of years ago, because my friend and I REALLY wanted to see it, but it wasn't coming back to Boston anytime soon. It was an awesome show. I want to go back and be able to do more. I'm so excited for you!

thanks! i'm excited about everything, but especially the show.

Oh, how exciting!!!!:hyper: My husband and I LOVED NYC! We stayed at the Quality Hotel on 47th Street. I believe it has been bought out, and has a new name now. :confused3 I still have all my stuff from that trip, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. ;) We did the Empire State Bldg., and I would say it was a let down based on how long we had to wait. It is still really COOL to see the views, but the wait was ridiculous.

We have talked about a "girls trip" with all of the ladies that work at my preschool. It would be so much fun.

You can go see the princesses on the top floor in the Disney store too. When we were there, there was NO ONE in there. The princesses were standing around waiting for someone to come see them. :confused3

thanks! i'll let you know if i have any questions. i hear the views from top of the rock are just as good if not better. it's just that everybody goes to the empire state building because it's so well known. a girls trip would be so much fun for you! oh, wow....cool about the princesses! i know there's a number you can call to see which characters are going to be there and when. i'm gonna wait until a few days before we go and call.

How exciting you are coming to nyc! Let me know if I can help you with planning..I live in tribeca.

If you are looking for restaurants suggestions here are a few of my faves in nyc:

Buddakan
Morimoto
STK
Bar Americain
Nobu
Uncle Jack's Steakhouse
Tao
Ago
Del Posto
Revel
Ono
Macelleria

thanks so much for the suggestions! i've written them down. we're gonna start looking at that kind of stuff closer to to the trip. i will let you know if i have any questions!

Dawn you will have such an amazinggggg time in NYC! We try and get out there every couple of months to do one thing or another (its only like an hour train ride on the LIRR for us.) Funny thing is, I've never been to some of the places you just said and I live so close :confused3

Two places I could suggest going, if you're into these types of things:

1- Ripley's Believe It or Not: such a cool place to take a visit to and not very expensive.
2- Comedy clubs: there are a few really good ones but I would suggest Dangerfield's or Caroline's. Some of the comedians are HILARIOUS

That hotel looks so nice! I like how they tell you the weather at the elevator. You could ask Melissa (troobabiee7) for more suggestions as she lives in Brooklyn, I'm just from Long Island so she'd know better :goodvibes

thanks for the suggestions! i will definitely look into them. and melissa actually responded and gave me LOTS of suggestions, but i will keep you both in mind if i have questions.

This should definitely help take the sting out of your non-Disney year! You'll have a great time, I'm sure, and there will be a little Disney touch mixed in with all of the other stuff. You might be able to even plan a meet with a bunch of NY Disers. That would be fun!

I've always said I'd like to go to NY at Christmas time to see the big tree and the skaters and the window displays and just be a part of the hustle and bustle that is NY at Christmas. Maybe someday I will.

It'll be fun to read a trip report and see pictures of somewhere I have never been. I'm sure we'll get to see New York in an entirely different way than we ever have!

That room did look very small. When you're taking pictures of the room, can you try to get at an angle to make it look bigger for my sake, please?
Just seeing the picture, I'm already worrying about you guys suffocating in there! :crazy2:

Maybe if those windows could be wide open, that would help?!?!? Or the door to the outside hallway or something.

On second thought, maybe I won't ever be able to go to New York. Or if I do, maybe I can just sleep outside in the park. :rotfl:

yeah, i'm thinking i'll need a disney fix by may and the disney store there will be great! i don't think i'm gonna plan any definite meets though because i don't want to take up brooke and anna's time doing that. i really want to spend a lot of time with my sister and i'll feel like i'm snubbing her, ya know?

i'm sure i'll do a non-disney TR when i get back and post it over on the community boards. if i get done with this one before i leave then i'll start a pre-trip over there so i won't lose you guys!

good think i'm not claustrophobic like you, huh? i don't know how i'll handle the pigeons in new york though. i'm sure there are bigger rooms in NYC for you, memom. we just decided to go with this hotel because we got a decent deal, anna had stayed there before and liked it and none of us have small spaces issues!

Dawn it looks like you're going to have a great time, my sister moved to NYC about 3 weeks ago so I hopefully will get to visit at some point :thumbsup2

cool! i'm sure you'll be able to visit her before you know it. does she like it there?

You are going to have such a great time in NYC!!! How long are you staying for? Looks like you are hitting a lot of the highlights while you are there!

we are staying for 4 nights. we're flying in early though on our first day so we'll have almost 4 1/2 days.

Dawn you have some cool pictures of NYC and all the fun sites. Last May I visited with my DH. We loved the boat ride to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Try to book a ticket for the boat prior to getting to NYC. The lines are HUGE to get on the boat if you don't have a timed ticket.:crowded: I did not plan ahead as well as I should have so we waited a long time, we arrived very early in the morning too! You can also take the ferry to Staten Island ferry and have the same view of the Statue. Our tour bus driver suggested this, my DH and son did this when they were there in July for the All Star Game. I know that did not take all morning. You do not get off the ferry on either Liberty Island or Ellis Island. So buy the timed ticket on line if you want to go in the base or stop on the Island. It will be fun to read about your plans.

BTW I loved being right in the Heart of Times Square, we stayed at Millenium Broadway. And I loved the Disney Store too. They have very cool NYC Disney gifts.princess:

yeah, we're gonna try to get tickets to most of the stuff we want to do before we leave. that way we avoid some of the lines! thanks for the tips about the statue of liberty. i can't wait to see all the NYC stuffs at the world of disney!

NYC is great! You should try to get to Stage Deli (I think that's what it's called). Sandwiches are GREAT...it's been on all the food shows. All sorts of stars have been there. I want to go back!!

i've added it to my list! we're gonna research where we wanna go closer to the trip.

Congrats on booking your trip to NYC! I bet you girls will have a blast! NYC is on my list to visit "some day."

thanks! i'm hoping it will be fun. i'm sure it will!

Congrats on booking a girls' trip to NYC....It's such a fun city to visit!!! :goodvibes You're going to LOVE Wicked....it's such a great musical!

thanks! i'm so looking forward to it! i'm sure we'll love the show.

Wicked is the best! You will love it........totally changed what I think about the Wizard of Oz!

cool! i can't wait.

You will have an awesome time in NYC!!! Greatest city in the world. We live about an hour north. We try to go in as much as possible. DH and I LOVE to stay overnight too, even though we are so close! Last year we took the girls to see the Christmas Spectacular and a snow storm was expected, so we made a weekend out of it, with the girls. They love it as much as we do!!

Feel free to ask away if you have any questions, or PM me.

Our favorite restaurants in the area you will be staying:
Virgil's BBQ
John's Pizzeria
Ellen's Starlight Diner

Oooohhhhhh......I am excited for you!!!!

thanks! i've added those to my list. i think we're definitely doing ellen's. i'll keep you in mind if i have any questions.

did u get the tickets to the show?

if you need any help I am but an email away.

If you would like company at Serendipity let me know, I will make a sacrifice and go. :rotfl2:

yep, we got tickets for the saturday night show. we're in the orchestra section so i think they're decent seats. thanks for your brilliant suggestion of ticketmaster! :rotfl: i'll keep that in mind about serendipity. ;)

Hey Dawn,

I've been following along. Your trip reports make me laugh. You guys are so cuteeee.

I just wanted to say you HAVE to hit Juniors while in NYC. That is if you are a fan of cheesecake. Its yummy. And they have the most giant cupcakes ever!!! There is another place I can't think of right now but they have something called "train wreck" french fries I think?. I HAVE to find it. It's so good.:faint: And its not too far from everything else. I will let you know when I find it!!!

thanks so much for reading! i've added juniors to my list of stuff to look at! i love me some cheesecake. i think there's one on times square, right?

Oh wow!!! I am so excited for you!! I have always wanted to go to NYC!!! It will be so cool to see all your pictures from there!! Once you get back, you will have to give me the name of your hotel! Me and my mother have talked about taking a trip up there and I would love to get a hotel near everything!!

if you want the name of the hotel before we leave i'll be happy to give it to you. i know you're not a stalker. ;)

I'm so excited you are going to NYC :yay: .....and a little jealous . Do you need another sister to make the #'s even :rotfl:

I'm hoping to go one day. But I will also prob have to do a girls trip b/c Matt has NO interest in going there. And he could give a crap less about seeing a broadway show. Which of course is a MUST for me :upsidedow

I know you will have a wonderful time and already can't wait to see your pics!

i would definitely say yes except that brooke already invited john's sister and we would only have room for 4 maximum in that little room. i'm already freaking memom out by having 3 in there! :rotfl: ray doesn't have any interest in going, either. hey, maybe you and i can go together someday!

I'm so excited for you Dawn! You'll absolutely love it here, it's the best! Just make sure you make a list of what you want to do most, because it'll be hard to fit it all in during one weekend. You usually need at least half-a-day each for both Central Park and the MET, both are gorgeous and HUGE! And by the time you get down to Ground Zero, check out the sites, and take a boat out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, that's almost a full-day outing.

And just be prepared for MOMA. While the MET's full of gorgeous works of art from around the world, Egyptian tombs you can walk through, and period houses, MOMA's a lot more offbeat. It's definitely an experience! We went again this past summer and there were a few installation exhibits that were cool, but then there were rooms full of completely blank canvases that people stood there staring it. It was hilarious! There was also video of a naked woman hula-hooping with barbed wire and it was beyond disturbing. It's a unique place but just be prepared!

Have you gotten your Wicked tickets yet? It's one of the few shows that are still doing really well despite the economic downfall, and it usually sells out months in advance. If you want good seats, make sure you get tickets ASAP!

You're definitely doing the right thing by going to the Top of the Rock instead of the Empire State Building. The ESB's nice, but Top of the Rock is much better! My friends and I go a lot since my dad works in the building and gets us the NBC employee discount, and it's SO much fun! The elevator ride to the top of the building is an experience in and of itself. I have some video I may upload to show you later! Plus the views are unparalleled.... you get a great view of the city, the Empire State Building across the way, and all of Central Park. It's beautiful!

And don't forget about Toys'R'Us Times Square! I know a lot of people don't think about visiting Toys R Us on their vacations, but it's officially the biggest toy store in the world and it's so much fun! You can go on a huge ferris wheel, walk through a life-sized Barbie Dream House, and see animatronic dinosaurs and superheroes. It's really cute in there!

Sardis is great but I'd honestly skip Serendipity III. They have good chocolate, but when we went two summers ago we were greeted by some rat friends :scared: The place has been shut down twice already, after repeatedly failing inspections by the Board of Health for being filthy. I know people love it, but it completely skeeves me out. Plus the customer service SUCKS. They cram as many people as they can into a tiny dump of a room, and they don't offer to-go boxes. If you don't finish your food they don't want you taking it with you. The manager is a piece of work, too, who chargers over-the-top prices and then doesn't care about your experience or food once they have your money. I'd stay away, it's way overrated and there are so many better restaurants to try! If you're looking for a fun experience, Ellen's Stardust Diner is so much fun! It's right there on Broadway and set up to look like an old 50's diner. 50's musicals play on a big screen in the center of the restaurant, and all the waiters and waitresses either were or are on Broadway, and they sing as they bring you your food. The food's delicious too, and you get so much of it! It's not the most authentic experience if you're looking for fine dining, but it's definitely authentically New York!

I'd also put Madame Tussaud's last on your list. Between the sightseeing, museums, attractions, shopping and ethnic neighborhoods (don't miss the West Village either, they have the BEST stores!), you won't have time to do everything and the place is a ripoff. It's fun if you have extra time, but they charge an insane amount of money to take pictures by statues that you can see at any other Madame Tussauds. If you have extra time, I'd do the NBC Studio Tour to see some actual celebrities rehearsing for SNL!

OK, I just wrote you a book  I'm so excited that you're finally getting to see the city! Keep us updated on your plans!

wow, melissa! thanks so much for all the tips. i know who to ask if i need info! :rotfl: we've already started our lists and we're going to narrow it down and prioritize it closer to the trip.

yep, we got our tickets for wicked the day after we booked the trip. we got orchestra seats, row M. :thumbsup2

glad to know top of the rock is so cool. my sister is the one that suggested that. and thanks for the toys R us suggestion! i've added that to our list. good to know about serendipity! i will keep that in mind. we will also keep the stuff you said about madame tussauds and the NBC tour in mind. i think we're definitely going to ellen's stardust diner. it sounds right up our alley! thanks again!

Your NYC weekend sounds fabulous! :goodvibes

thanks! i'm really excited about it.

Enjoy NYC Dawn!! It's also on my to again list!!DD would love to go for the Tanxgiving Day Parade !!

thanks! i will let you guys know how it goes. if i finish this TR before we leave then i'll start a pre-TR for that trip over on the community board and link you guys to it!

serendipity's.....frozen hot chocolate....mmmmm...
and junior's cheesecake...mmmmmm....can you tell i'm hungry???
and magnolia's bakery...cupcakes.....

ok, add these to my list from earlier and now i must go wipe the drool from my table!!!

lol....

:rotfl: sorry to make you hungry!

It looks like you'll have a lot of fun in NYC. DH always said that was one place he'd never go (we're not fans of big cities and crowds), but after seeing Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid at DHS, he's convinced that we need to go see a musical. I have a friend here who's obssessed with Wicked. I bet you'll love it!

ray doesn't have any interest, either. but it's one place i knew i had to see before i leave this world. now i just have to make it to maui, venice, tuscany and australia! :lmao:

I am so jealous! I've always wanted to go to NYC.:goodvibes

i'm sure you can make it there one day! ;)

You don't need to respond to me, I just wanted to wish you a happy trip to NYC. It's one place that DH and I always talk about going to. I really want to go there at Christmas time and see Rockefeller center.

thanks so much!

OMG that's horrible! :scared1: Thankfully you were more in shock than hurt! You're probably going to be really sore tomorrow so just relax and take it easy. I'm glad you're OK!

thanks. :goodvibes

Looking forward to reading more...:)

thanks so much for reading! and thanks for your suggestions. i've added them to our list (to be narrowed down sometime in april). yes, ray was into legos but anna's hubby chris was REALLY into legos - still is! i'll have to tell her that.

Yikes! about your arm. I hope you are ok. That's ok....it grossed me out a little too, and I wasn't even there!

Hope you are ok!

thanks! sorry for grossing you out.

Hopefully you won't be too sore tomorrow.

nice to know that ray did what a doctor probably would've done. i can't believe you fell with the baby! that's like my worst fear with those steps.

OH MY WORD!!!!!
What was it? Sorry if I am being a dumdum, but what in the heck was it that was coming out of your arm????? Well, I hope your arm feels better!!!! Hopefully you didn't do nothing superbad except for the cut!

i've already responded to you but i thought you may not have seen it. it was ARM FAT. yes, arm fat. and i have relatively thin arms. that's one part of my body that i've never had to worry about as far as fat goes. but i saw what little i have squirting out! :scared:

What a guy! He vaccums and rescues damsels in distress!!!

oh, brett was awful with having accidents but luckily i never saw anything more than blood. one time brooke hit him with a bat and knocked him out and he fell in dog poop! another time he dropped a big block of wood on a shovel and the shovel came up and hit him right between the eyes - cut to the bone. that was scary because it was way too close to his eyes!

this same arm is the one i broke when i was 4. that was a huge ordeal too. i broke it, then the hospital in gallatin set it backwards and they had to take me to vanderbilt children's hospital and re-break it, put pins in it and put me in a cast.....at 4 years old. not fun! but they did an awesome job with it because i'm right-handed and it's pretty sturdy because it didn't break when i fell last night!

i've realized that the older i get, the harder i fall and the longer it takes me to recover! :upsidedow

so true about ray! i wish i could've seen his leap down the stairs. i read what you wrote to him and he was laughing about it. i have a good guy. ::yes::

Oh, no, Dawn!!! That is so horrible about your arm -- I would be screaming, too! Gelatinous mounds should never come out of one's arm!

Hope your arm feels better soon.

i agree that gelatinous mounds should stay on the inside. :lmao:

Oh Dawn!! Keep an eye on that so it doesn't get infected !! My DD doesn't handle the kids getting injured well either . I arrive at the ER and the staff send her out , cuz they don't want to deal to with 2 casualities !:rotfl2:
Anyway hope you are OK:grouphug:

i will! i put some hydrogen peroxide on it today and it burned but i know i need to keep doing that, washing it and putting neosporin and a new bandage on it every day.

See? Us grandmas think alike. Just keep it nice and clean and you should be just fine. You'll probably keep a little mark there for the rest of your life. It'll be subtle, but you'll probably always be able to see it faintly.

it will be right next to the one i have where i fell on a trashcan in the ladies room at the courthouse last year. i'm such a klutz.

:crazy2: Feel better.

what exactly is a dirty water dog? oh, and don't worry - pizza is definitely on the agenda!

i went and looked at pictures of your leg and you got me beat by a LONG SHOT!!!!! that looked HORRIBLE. i would have probably fainted - no question. how does it look now? ouch!

wow, melissa! thanks so much for all the tips. i know who to ask if i need info!

Anytime! I know I wrote you a book  I'm always psyched when people come here for the first time, it really is a fun experience! You're going to love Wicked, and I'm glad you got such good seats :cool1: Definitely go to Ellen's, it's such a fun place! Here's a video I found from the restaurant, we always have such a great time and the food's so good!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDZHnd5TCgQ

If you have any questions, definitely be sure to ask. There are a bunch of NY Dis'ers on here who I'm sure have a lot of fun tips. Keep us updated! And I'm glad your arm's already getting better!

Ellen's Starlight Cafe was fun, cheaper than we expected based on location (prices were about fair) food was not the best, but definately fine! and the performances were so much fun. the waiters and waitresses break out into song. I will see if I can find a pic to include from when we were there...

If you need any help with anything let me know!

thanks! i will definitely let you know if i need help with the planning. i'm not sure about the DIS meets yet. because i'm going with two other people that aren't DISers and don't "get" it, i'm not sure we'll have time, especially since we're just gonna be there for a long weekend. but i will keep you guys updated!

Aw Dawn! Feel better!

thanks!

OH MY!!!! That sounds painful. Definitely keep it clean. You DO NOT want a big ole infection in your arm! Ray's secretly superman.;)

i put hydrogen peroxide on it today to get it even cleaner than it was. it stung but not too horrible. i was telling my dad what happened and that ray made a flying leap down the stairwell and he started singing the spider man song. i was like, "dad, that's spider man. not superman!" :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear of your fall and I hope it heals up quickly.

thanks!

Ahh Dawn, so sorry to hear about your arm!! :scared: I would have definitely been freaking out too! Thank God you had Ray to the rescue :thumbsup2

Hope you're not too sore in the morning but if you are, just a good reason to lay around and rest all day  Feel better!!

yeah, i'm not too good with gore and blood! i didn't do much today but i did clean the house. i'm sore but it's just my arm, not my whole body. i'll be okay!

Oh, Dawn, sorry to hear about your fall! I hope your arm is doing better!

On the bright side, congrats on your upcoming trip! Sounds like so much fun! You'll love Wicked! It's a great show!

thanks! i can't wait for the trip. i will let you guys know how it goes!

I posted on Winkers thread too but i hope you are ok!!! i hope your cut heals nicely and your arm stops hurting. :flower3: YIKES that is scary!! Awesome how fast your DH got there to help you.

thanks! it's the bone that's hurting more than the cut, i guess where i landed on it. i'm so glad ray was there - i probably wouldn't fainted seeing that stuff coming out of my arm if i was by myself!

If it's red around the edges where it was cut, you'd better get it checked out. You should know after reporting so many depos what can happen if it's infected. :crazy2: Heal fast!

definitely! i've seen pictures that are really disgusting. i'll keep a close eye on it but right now the skin around the cut is as normal-looking as can be.

I hope your arm is feeling better! Like previous people have said, you realy should get it checked out if it continues to bother you. After my first c-section, I watch my incision rupture in front of my eyes, so I know all about the gross stuff. I thought I was going to pass out when that happened :faint: .

ouch! yikes - that had to be horrible. i'm keeping a close eye on it but i think it'll be fine.

Dawn......hope your arm heals quickly! Glad that Ray was right there to help you out!

thanks! i'm glad he was there too. i would've freaked out had i seen that stuff and not had anyone around to calm me down.

I'm glad he got everything fixed and it's ok now. My brother does heating/ac and $80 is a GREAT deal especially on a holiday!

i thought so too! he seemed like a really nice guy. i think he was here for less than an hour though. he just popped in those two wires and was done!

Wow-how fun to plan a trip to NYC--I cant wait to see the picturers from your trip!
Poor arm!! Hope it feels better soon. I gotta say the comment about "arm fat" cracked me up!:rotfl:

thanks! i will definitely post the pictures and post a link to a new TR if i start one.

i didn't know what else to call that "stuff" that came out of my arm! :lmao:

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad you're ok!
I freak out over seeing things like that too!:crazy2:

I hope your arm is feeling better!:flower3:

thanks! sorry i thought of you when i fell. i guess we can bond over our klutziness! :rotfl:

Just getting caught up here, so sorry about your arm.

thanks! it feels better today.

OMG when do you go to NYC??? We go this saturday!! Were seeing the Little Mermaid YAY can't wait.

Can I ask you what Sardis is? We are looking for a place to eat before the show.

we go in may. i'd love to hear about your trip when you get back! sardi's is a restaurant near (or in) the broadway district. they have caricatures of all kinds of famous people all over the walls and it's a good place to spot a celebrity. anna saw morgan freeman there last year. here's the website:

http://www.sardis.com/htmldocs/cms/

What a fall, you must have been so scared of broken bones. I am so glad you feel better and Ray was there to help with the first aid. He is a keeper. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad I've never seen that gloopy stuff, I think it may be too much for me. (I was glad you didn't take a photo) Luckily, my kids havn't hurt themselves like that. :scared:

 to you from me. I hope you aren't that sore tonight. :flower3:

i agree that ray is a keeper! :rotfl: i'm glad he was here too. the gloopy stuff was really gross - i'm so bad with things like that!

A dirty water dog is the most delicious hot dog that the street vendors sell. My guess is the water they are cooked in is not the cleanest as the day goes on ;)

before i get started on the TR, i just wanted to comment on how proud i am to be alive on this historic day. no matter who you voted for, i hope that you were able to look at this day and be proud to be an american (if you are an american). :goodvibes even those of you who don't live in this country i'm sure can appreciate what a significant day it is.

okay....enough of that. on to the TR!

----------------------

when i got my DVDs today i realized that ray had shot some video when we came out of japan of the christmas tree and spaceship earth across the water. so i thought i would share that first.

now the last time i wrote, i believe we were coming out of canada and heading towards the christmas tree. as we walked up to the tree i started to realize how HUGE it was. it was beautiful! there was a full moon out that night and it was SO PRETTY above the tree!

there were ornaments from every country on the tree and the angel at the top was holding the world up in her arms. she was really pretty! here's a video ray took. it also includes some of the dancing lights.

ray really liked the pathway of lights that changed to the music. he stood there for awhile and taped them. more videos of the dancing lights! they start out slow but they get better.

in this one you can see the monorail go by.

the second half of this one is taken from the other side with his back to SE. it's really cool over there because there's sort of a wall in front of you.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/33-1.jpg

ray and i stopped here to take some photopass pics. i love the colors in the first one!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/31-1.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/32-1.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/36-1.jpg

we then headed back over under the walkway to get some photopass pics there. there was a short line and ray entertained himself by wearing luke's 3-D glasses that turned all the lights into snow flakes!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/35-1.jpg

i didn't really like these photopass pics as much as i thought i would, but they were okay.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/37-1.jpg

then it was anna, chris and luke's turn. luke decided that he was gonna show off his mask in his picture. :rotfl2:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/38-1.jpg

the first time i was going through our pictures online i saw these and showed them to ray and we were CRACKING UP! :lmao: that kid is crazy.

look at anna looking at him - she had just realized what he was doing.

then it was time for a group shot. we did this really quickly because luke was getting antsy, so it didn't turn out that great, but it's funny.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/41.jpg

anna decided to try it out too. :rotfl:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/42.jpg

we split up at that point. ray and i headed towards mexico and anna & company went and took photopass pics at the flower thingies.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/43.jpg

i think anna and chris got some coffee somewhere and luke got a cookie. this turned out cute!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/44.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/45.jpg

meanwhile ray and i were walking through mexico and we ran into the three kings. we stopped and watched a few minutes of the show, but they were near the end so we didn't see the whole thing.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/46.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/47.jpg

we didn't go in here this time. just kept walking.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/48.jpg

i have no idea what happened to norway. neither anna nor myself took any pictures there!

in china i saw where the monkey king usually performs. very cool! i wish i could've seen him.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/49.jpg

i stopped and got a peach schnapps oolong tea in china - one of my favorites! it was so good! i forgot to take a picture though.

when anna & company made it to china (they were about 2 countries behind us, i think) luke saw the puppets and thought those were really cool!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/50.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/51.jpg

china is pretty at night!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/52.jpg

they had a little area set up between china and germany where you could take pictures with a nutcracker. ray and i didn't stop because when we went by there was a line. but anna & company stopped and she got some hilarious pictures!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/53.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/54.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/55.jpg

when we got to germany i was really just amazed at how BEAUTIFUL it is at night! i don't think i've ever seen it all lit up - so pretty!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/56.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/57.jpg

we made our way to italy, which is also just gorgeous at night.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/59.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/60.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/61.jpg

i went into the candy store in italy and spent $18 on candy. we gave about half of it to ray's nephew for christmas. i also hit some lady in the head with my elbow. she was not respecting my space and after i paid, when i turned around she was standing right behind me and i just walked right into her. she was really short. obviously, since i'm only 5'3" and i hit her head with my elbow!

we briefly walked into america and looked around a bit.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/63.jpg

the candlelight processional that we decided against. i want to do it one day but i knew luke probably wouldn't sit through it and this being our first day, i didn't want to spend a lot of time on one thing.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/62.jpg

after that ray and i headed back to a kiosk in germany where we had seen some pretty christmas ornaments and we ended up seeing anna there. after looking around there, we decided to go ahead and get a spot for illuminations. it was about 8:50 at this point and the show started at 9:30, but i thought it would be nice to just sit by the water for a little while. there was a roped off area between germany and italy for wheelchairs/scooters and i asked the CM there if we could sit just to the right of it and he said that was fine. anna and chris went on ahead to italy (which is when a couple of those pics above were taken) and america to look around.

ray and i sat there for awhile and talked and just people watched. entertaining ourselves....

it was starting to get really cold so we put our hoods up. we felt very gangster-ish so we thought we'd capture the moment. ray cracks me up in these pictures! :cool2: :rotfl:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/66.jpg

ray had been talking about going to japan again to do some more shopping at that huge store so i told him to go ahead, that i didn't mind sitting there. i played with the settings on my camera to entertain myself and i found one that's really good for night pictures!

with my back to the water, looking left at germany....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/67.jpg

and right at italy....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/68.jpg

then i called erica since i had a few minutes to kill and figured she'd be at home on a thursday night! anna walked up as i was on the phone....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/69.jpg

i think this one looks kinda cool!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/70.jpg

chris and luke looked at the train for awhile. i say "train" because there was only one. i don't know why they didn't have them all running. :confused3

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/58.jpg

then anna went and got a pretzel from germany.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/71.jpg

i texted ray and told him i wanted one, too. it looked good! when he showed up a few minutes later he had gotten one, but it was from america. i told him i wanted a pretzel from GERMANY. he said they were no different but they were. i guess i'll live. :p

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/72.jpg

it was getting close to show time so everyone got settled in, sitting on the ground. i was getting ready to get a family picture for anna and ray decided that the ortega cheese label he had just peeled off should be in the picture too. :lmao:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/73.jpg

take 2....

somebody's getting sleepy!

this one is cute, i think....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/75.jpg

anna and i tried to get artsy with our pictures of the flames with luke standing near the railing. they didn't turn out great but kinda cool!

I thought of you today! A co-workerd grabbed a file off of my desk today and as they pulled it, the side hit my arm and I felt it scratch me! It's such a treat to get so many good pictures!

I think if I could invent something, I would invent a way to jump into our pictures and videos whenever we just needed a little Disney fix and be there again.

At the end of a work day, it would be so nice to jump into a World Showcase picture and watch Illuminations before bed time. I would love to end the school day by watching a parade in Magic Kingdom or splashing down or rumbling 'round a mountain. I'd take a quick stroll under the Osborne Lights after dinner or enjoy the music of Beauty and the Beast. Or maybe walk the trails of Animal Kingdom early in the morning. If I could walk those trails every day, I wouldn't have any problem being motivated to move!

When I see such awesome pictures, I can just feel like we are there, and I want to jump into the screen and be there for real.

If anybody ever invents an instant transporter, I'm going to be at the front of the line to get one!

What are we going to do with you not going for two years???

Dawn - I'm all caught up with your TR. Sorry about your arm, that sounds really painful. Yeah on the NYC trip, I just went in October, just for the day and can't wait to go back and do more things. My DH and I went for our anniversary. We had a great time, next time we want to stay overnight so we can see Time Square at night. Love the Epcot pictures are night. I'm getting more and more excited about our trip reading yours. We will be going when the Christmas things are up too so I'm taking noted on what to do. I agree Germany preztels are NOT the same as American preztels;)

Okay, I'm caught up again. I'm sorry about your arm--I don't handle stuff like that very well, either. I am an early childhood major and planning on working with 1-2 year olds so I'm hoping that the extent of their injuries will be skinned knees and elbows, at least when they are with me. ;) And your house with the wiring?! What the heck were they thinking?! I'm glad that it was caught when it was.

I love WS at night, and your pictures with all the lights were gorgeous! I'm really hoping to go around the holidays sometime because all the pictures and videos that I've seen are amazing.

Hey Dawn - I can't believe I missed so many pages!

First, and most importantly, - how's your arm? I hope it's ok!

How wonderful that you're getting a trip to NYC - THE greatest city in the world! I miss it so much - miss the pizza, the shopping, the bagels, the street vendors! OMG - you will have a blast. I'll throw out one recommendation for dinner - Patsy's. It's an italien restaurant up on 58th, I think, between 7th and 8th. Anyway, it may be a little out of the way but sooooo good!

Loved your pix at Epcot. Germany is beautiful at night! And I love your shots in front of the archway and those white light trees. So festsive!

And, yes - yesterday was a very historic and wonderful day. Here's to a new and brighter future!

And, on a side note to MeMom: loved the idea of that invention of yours! Get working on it, will ya?;)

since a lot of you asked, i just wanted to let you know that my arm is healing nicely. i can actually touch it now without screaming in pain. i do forget sometimes and put weight on it like on the arm of a chair or something and that hurts. but i think that's more the bone than the cut. thanks for thinking about me. i went and had my teeth cleaned today and that was almost just as bad of an experience as slicing my arm open! :rotfl2: i hate the dentist. sorry, erica. ;)

Dawn, I'm so glad your arm is getting better. But it wasn't fat that was leaking from that slice. It was blood plasma. It's a clear liquid that is part of blood. That's all the technical I can get.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures and update.

thanks! oh, and thanks for clarifying. i have no clue about anything medical - that's why i became a court reporter! :rotfl:

thanks! i agree about feeling good to be an american. i haven't been all gung-ho about obama from the beginning and i'm not one to defend the last administration. but i just love how we can have a peaceful transfer of power and how a lot of people have been able to look past race and embrace him as president. ray's been a huge obama supporter from the start. it took me awhile to get on board though. he's really changed my view of him in the last few months. good thing he did it before the election! :lmao:

thanks about the weight loss. but no, i haven't lost any. i've actually gained a little bit. i didn't diet at all during the holidays and when i weighed myself after new year's i was at 141. so now i'm trying to get back down to 130. when i weighed myself yesterday i was at 137. 7 pounds to go!

What are we going to do with you not going for two years???

oh, i would totally help fund that invention if you started working on it! you'd be a very rich lady if you succeeded. maybe you could buy us all annual passes and DVC memberships? ;)

i don't know what you're going to do but i'm going to live vicariously through others! including you! :rotfl:

Dawn - I'm all caught up with your TR. Sorry about your arm, that sounds really painful. Yeah on the NYC trip, I just went in October, just for the day and can't wait to go back and do more things. My DH and I went for our anniversary. We had a great time, next time we want to stay overnight so we can see Time Square at night. Love the Epcot pictures are night. I'm getting more and more excited about our trip reading yours. We will be going when the Christmas things are up too so I'm taking noted on what to do. I agree Germany preztels are NOT the same as American preztels;)

i'm really looking forward to NYC. i remember your pics from the disney store there. that's one thing i'm definitely doing. i'm sure you guys will love disney at christmas time. i can't wait to see how your trip goes and read all about it!

Oh wow, this was a great update! And my favorite pic? The black and white one of you and Ray! :goodvibes

P.S. You are the best gangster I know. :cool2:

thanks! i like that one too. and yes, we are thugs. :rotfl2:

Okay, I'm caught up again. I'm sorry about your arm--I don't handle stuff like that very well, either. I am an early childhood major and planning on working with 1-2 year olds so I'm hoping that the extent of their injuries will be skinned knees and elbows, at least when they are with me. ;) And your house with the wiring?! What the heck were they thinking?! I'm glad that it was caught when it was.

I love WS at night, and your pictures with all the lights were gorgeous! I'm really hoping to go around the holidays sometime because all the pictures and videos that I've seen are amazing.

I love all the Photopass pictures too; Luke cracks me up. :rotfl:

i'm so bad with things that involve blood, gore....or arm fat! :rotfl: i couldn't be a teacher because of that. thanks about the pictures!

along with the germany pretzels the brats with kraut there are awesome i will get one next trip for sure

i love kraut but i can't deal with brats! so you enjoy those - more for you! i tried one once when we were camping and i literally had to spit it out. just not my thing. my taste is very texture-based and it was just too coarse for me.

Dawn great photos, I love all the photopass ones with the lights, so pretty. I saw CP during my trip and you're right Luke is far too young to sit through it, I thought it was nice but I doubt a 5 y/o would want to sit still that long :rotfl: I can't wait to see all the Christmas world showcase stuff next trip, I didn't get to see any of it last month and I know my girls will love it!

thanks! we will definitely do CP next time. i want to see it! oh, you guys will love WS at christmas time - so much to look at!

Great nighttime shots of Epcot. Colby loves those puppets too. We saw the Candlelight proc on our Thanksgiving trip (from afar). John O'hurley was the speaker. The lines for it were massive!

thanks! yeah, we saw the lines too when we came out of dinner in japan. ray couldn't believe they were that long!

Great pictures! I love Epcot at night, it's always so gorgeous but it's even prettier all decorated for the holidays!

thanks! oh, it was so pretty at night! i wish i was there right now.

Everything looks so pretty! It sounds like you had a great day! Looking forward to seeing how your night ends. I'm glad your arm is feeling a bit better.

thanks! we did. :)

Beautifull picutes Dawn!!
I love the one of you and Ray infront of the "ball".
Luke with the nutcracker was hilarious!

thanks! that's one of my favorites too. and those pictures of luke are just so funny - they really show his personality!

Dawn... Awesome pictures and video. Definitely made me want to be there. Luke is a crackup LOL. I love the colors in yours and Ray's photopass picture. I can't wait to go to the world. I've got two years to go!!! As long as school doesn't suck all of my money out of me!!?!

thanks! hang in there with school - it's expensive but it's an experience you don't want to give up. disney will come soon enough. i will be there in 2 years, too! well, actually it's 1 year, 10 months and 1 week and 5 days, but who's counting? :lmao:

Get working on it, will ya?;)

thanks! see above post about my arm. it's doing better. i'm really excited about NYC! i will definitely add patsy's to my list. thanks for the tip!

about memom's idea - i told her i'd help fund it as long as she promised me a DVC membership and annual passes when she gets rich from her invention!

Hey Dawn! Now that I finally have access to the internet everyday I can keep up with everyone's report. Brooklynn and I have spent the afternoon reading the whole thing. She really enjoyed your videos. She said that was her Epcot and she lives there everyday. I think MeMom and I have officially warped her.

hey, jill! so glad you can join in the fun!!! i'm so happy that you and brooklynn enjoyed the videos. that really made me smile! and don't worry - you've warped her in a good way! ::yes::

GREAT update and pics!!! Isn't Epcot gorgeous at night? And with the holiday lights it just makes it so magical! :goodvibes Oh my gosh...the gangster pictures.....:lmao: Love it! Can't wait for your next update!

thanks! yes, i just love it at night! we are such thugs - watch out now! :rotfl2:

Dawn I love your videos! They make me feel like I'm there :) Great gangsta pics too, you guys are very thug-ish :rotfl2: Poor Luke you can tell hes getting tired but hes being a trooper!

thanks! me too - i love watching them! don't you think we're such hardcore thugs? um....yeah. :rolleyes2

Great updates! You have awesome night time pictures of Epcot! Luke is so funny!

thanks! :goodvibes

Right now I'm to worried about getting back to Disney at christmas time :upsidedow

well, we actually hadn't PLANNED on going by there until later that night. but anna wanted to go back through morocco, france, england and canada because they had literally ran through them trying to make our dinner reservation in japan. so it just sort of worked out that we went there sooner and i'm glad we did - we had the rest of the night to enjoy WS! i'm sure you'll see it next time.

ugh....i wouldn't live here if you paid me! the traffic is HORRIBLE. no way. i'm happy being far enough away to be in the country but close enough to just hop on the interstate and be there in 45 minutes. plus i have stuff in all directions: i'm 20 minutes from athens, 20 minutes from gainesville, 20 minutes from a really nice mall and 15 minutes from a huge outlet mall. :thumbsup2

well, from my house disney world is exactly 500 miles (on the nose) and it takes us about 7.5 hours (sometimes less) to get there. cut about an hour off that because i live almost an hour north of atlanta.

It sounds like you are in the best kind of location. That's kinda how Toledo is. Except, Toledo sucks, it's cold here and your towns are minutes away, not hours. ;) The unemployment here is growing so badly. Anyway, we are 2 hours from Cleveland, 2 hours from Columbus, 4 hours to Cincinnati, 4 hours to Chicago, and 45 min to Detroit.
I WISH I lived 7.5 hours away. I wouldn't have to worry about airfare that way.

i'm going to leave you here and return with the rest of our night at epcot! i will have video in the next installment. however, that means i'll have to wait until i get my DVDs back. i sent off my hi-8 tapes to have them converted to DVD about 2 weeks ago so they should be back soon. until then...you'll have to wait! popcorn::

Sorry if this has already been asked (I'm not totally caught up yet) but do you mind if I ask you where you had this done. I have so many tapes I need converted but it seems like an overwhelming task so they just sit here.

Yayyyy, I've finally caught up!!! :cool1:

We arrived back in Australia on Thursday from our American adventures, and it's taken me way too long to catch up on your trip report, but I'm up to date now! You can proceed now! ::yes::

We had a fabulous time in Disney World! Although I was constantly full from eating... We did the deluxe dining plan. I've started my dining review, if you fancy a read!

We went to New York for New Years Eve and had an absolute blast. You'll love it!! I can't wait to hear how you like it! I miss it already - I could totally live there, even though it was ridiculously freezing cold! We did Top of the Rock and loved it. We went up the Empire State Building in 2006, and if I was to compare the two, I'd definitely recommend Top of the Rock. Because it's nice to go up the Empire State Building just so you can say, "I went up there!" but it's nicer to go up Top of the Rock (with half the amount of people) and actually see the Empire State Building! Beautiful views! :thumbsup2

Make sure you take some time to play in Central Park too. It's such a relaxing place in the middle of a crazily fun city.

Anyway, I totally met those same evil dive-bombing birds near Canada in Epcot too!!! We walked through that area after our Le Cellier lunch, and I grabbed Conan's arm and we made a run for it. Terrifying!!! Not as frightening as the evil birds at SeaWorld though, who literally flew right at us squawking with open mouths, and stole fish from our hands while we were trying to feed the dolphins. Oh my goodness Dawn. Don't do that. It's SO bad. I cried!!! People must have thought I was totally la-la, but you know what it's like when birds attack. I couldn't help it!!

I'm glad to hear your arm is feeling better. Although if my arm fat fell out, I wouldn't want to shove it back in - Ray should have pulled it out instead!! Oh, gross. Sorry. :faint:

I think that's enough from me! I've written a novel, sorry!! Thanks for all your fun updates so far!! :wave2:

We will be in Atlanta next weekend! Chads sister is coming up from Florida to take our niece to see The Killers for part of her Christmas. So.......they are taking me to the concert with them! I don't really listen to them, but it will be cool to hang out with them. Chad is taking our younger niece to our house so she can play and visit with Hollie. Then we are supposed to go to the Aquarium Saturday morning. I am excited because we haven't been there yet!

first off, i wanted to update you guys on my arm since a lot of you had asked. since it's healing well i thought i'd post a pic of it.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00095.jpg

i told you the cut wasn't big! :lmao: it really wouldn't have been that big of a deal if all that stuff didn't pop out! the cut itself is really healing nicely and the bone underneath is almost back to normal. there was a big knot on it but it's going down now. and the arm itself is still pretty sore but it's getting better every day. i no longer cry out in pain when i touch it and i can actually sleep on my right side again.

now that the medical report is done, i figured i'd share some pics with you guys from our weekend in atlanta. we went down to atlanta thursday night because ray's company was giving a seminar down there and he had to be there for the computer setup and maintenance, so i went with him to keep him company. me excited about getting to spend the night away from home! yes, the sunroof is open. it was a pretty day thursday!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00068.jpg

we left around 3:30 on thursday and of course hit atlanta traffic. i tried to snap a picture of the cirque du soliel kooza tents as we went by but driving in atlanta traffic and taking pics is not very easy, so i didn't get a very good shot.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00074.jpg

the seminar was at the hyatt near the airport, so that's where they had gotten us a room, too. it was a really nice room! i was impressed with space we had. i can't complain - it was free to us! :thumbsup2

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00078.jpg

ray spent part of thursday night setting up the computers while i worked in the room. we didn't want to go very far for dinner because he had to get up at 6:30 on friday, so we just went to the ruby tuesday's across the street. i got herb-crusted tilapia and a white sangria and it was good! i didn't take food porn pics - i forgot my camera. sorry!

on friday ray had to work so i slept until around 9:00, then got up and had to drive back up the interstate about 50 miles to go to my office and deal with work stuff, then run some errands. i ended up not getting back to atlanta until around 3:30. the seminar ended around 4:45 yesterday and so after ray was done with his stuff, we cleaned up and went out to dinner. ray loves my camera.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00084.jpg

we didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted something decent. so where else do we go but......WOLFGANG PUCK EXPRESS!!!!!

we just can't get away from disney. :lmao:

we both love this place and remembered that there was one on peachtree street, so we headed straight there.

i didn't want to be too obnoxious with the pictures, so i didn't have my flash on. a blurry picture of the restaurant....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00085.jpg

us waiting on our food.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00087.jpg

we ordered a few things and just split everything. we got the BBQ chicken quesadilla....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00088.jpg

chinois chicken salad.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00090.jpg

tortilla soup. i love tortilla soup and i've been wanting to try this! that white lump is goat cheese and it was so good once mixed in with the soup!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00089.jpg

side of four cheese macaroni....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00091.jpg

all of it was SO GOOD!!!!!! we took half the quesadilla and chicken salad back to the room with us.

after that we just looked around the shops in that area a little bit, then headed back to the hotel. we stopped at a liquore store nearby so ray could get some beer and i could get some wine. the liquor store was in kind of a seedy part of town and we were cracking up at this....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00093.jpg

GET CRUNK!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

we also saw some pre-mixed gin and juice. i don't know if you guys know that snoop dogg song, but that's all we could think about after seeing it. "rolling down the street, smoking *sensored*, sippin on gin and juice!" :lmao:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00094.jpg

ray checkin out the gin and juice....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00092.jpg

today ray had to get up early again for the second day of the seminar. so i got up around 8:00 and got a little work done. we had to be checked out by noon, so i got the room packed up and the car loaded. i had 4 hours to kill because the seminar wasn't over until 4:30, so i decided to head to a new mall downtown called atlantic station. everyone's been gushing over it and i haven't been yet.

once i got there, i was hungry so i ate at doc green's. i got a portobello mushroom panini and a cup of tortilla cheese soup. again, no flash as not to be obvious. at disney i don't care about taking food porn pics but in the real word i try to be discreet!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00099.jpg

that's SUPPOSED to be a panini, but it wasn't. it wasn't grilled! the cheese wasn't even melted.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00100.jpg

oh, well. the veggies on it were good and the soup was good so i was okay. after that i walked around a bit and decided i really didn't like the mall. everything was outside and today was a cold, kinda drizzly day. so unless you're having nice weather, you're not going to have much fun at this mall. i was thinking there would be some stuff inside, but nope. that's the one thing i like about shopping: it can be done rain or shine! but not here. i probably won't be back unless i'm with someone else who wants to go.

i decided to head to ikea. i knew there was one close by and i've never been to one before and have heard wonderful things. so i (finally) found a map of the area and found an arrow pointing towards ikea, so i head that direction. i saw this on the way and thought it was pretty....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00102.jpg

i turned right on 17th street, walked a little ways and finally saw ikea in the distance.....ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD!!!!! :scared: i was wearing boots with heels. fun. there's a free shuttle you can take around the area but i didn't know where the stop was so i just decided to walk. i took that pic above at 12:40 and i ended up getting to ikea at 1:00. 20 minutes for a mile in heels - not bad.

i took these on the way. at least i had cool stuff to look at!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00103.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00104.jpg

you can see the ikea in the distance in this one....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00105.jpg

finally i made it to that glorius blue building....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00107.jpg

me happy that i'm almost there....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00108.jpg

okay.....my main observation about ikea: IT'S GINORMOUS. they need to put a warning about how big it is outside the building before you enter. the warning also needs to tell you that you should wear comfortable sneakers and cool clothes (as in not hot because that place was like an oven) and that you need to take an entire day to go through it! seriously. it's like touring a disney park or something! i gave up after about 2 hours. i did get some good deals though. i got a magnetic knife strip thing, small canisters to stick to it (to put garlic, spices, etc. in), a rack to put on the inside of my cabinets for lids to pots and pans, a lint roller and a 4-pack refill, a 100-pack of tealight candles, a very nice pair of kitchen shears and a baby blanket for my soon-to-be niece all for $30. :thumbsup2

i decided to catch the free shuttle back to where i was parked. i didn't realize that the shuttle went back into midtown atlanta (on the opposite side of the interstate) and when we stopped near a marta station, everyone got off except for me and one other guy, then the bus filled back up with new people.

i was sitting on the row in front of the back row and a man that looked like he was homeless got on and sat in the back row right behind me. i don't mean to be rude or mean but he smelled so bad that i had to kind of stick my head discreetly down in my bag to avoid getting sick. after everyone got on the bus the driver motioned for him to come back up to the front and when he did, she said something to him that i couldn't hear. he turned around, flipped us all off and said, "DUCK ALL OF Y'ALL! whoever complained, duck you!!!" except he didn't say duck. i think you know what he said. the driver told him that he wouldn't be allowed to ride again and he asked why. she said because he had used obscenity like that. he said, "but i don't understand why i'm any different than them." i felt kinda bad for him but then again that wasn't the best way to handle that situation. the driver told him that if he had an issue, he could've said something to her but because he did what he did, he wouldn't be allowed back on. he got off and headed down the street, cussing and throwing his hands up in the air the whole time.

anyway, that was interesting! at least atlanta is good for some entertainment. i felt sorry for the guy but the smell really was just horrible. everyone on the bus said something after he got off.

i FINALLY made it back to where my car was and then when i was leaving i came out right where the cirque du soliel tents were set up....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00109.jpg

funny how my mickey antenna topper got in this picture!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00110.jpg

i snapped this from behind when i saw that lady walking....a performer maybe?

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC00114.jpg

i really want to see this show but we're trying to save money and pay off some bills, so it's not practical. i'm sure we'll see the one at disney some day!

after that i went back to the hotel and then ray and i left a little while later and now i'm home! not a very exciting trip but it was a nice distraction from the norm.

hope you guys are having a good weekend so far! :goodvibes

I am very jealous that you and Heather are headed to The Killers concert! Chelsea and I LOVE their music! Over Christmas one of our songs on the iPod was their "Don't Shoot Me, Santa" -- not to mention all of their other stuff.

Your pictures from the liquor store cracked me up!!! :rotfl2:

Wasn't IKEA crazy??? I have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle the store -- the first time I went with a friend, I called my mom and said, "It's like Disney World for home decorating." Next time, bring home a big tray of their cinnamon rolls from the food area -- they are delicious!

Fun mini TR of Atlanta, haven't been since the 96' Olympics. I don't count layovers during Airtran flights.:lmao: We have an IKEA about 90 minutes from our house. I used to go when my girls were setting up their dorm rooms/apartments. It is really fun to explore, and you really can't beat the prices.
Great pictures of Epcot at night. Some of those Photopass pictures are so funny. :rotfl2:

Great mini TR. We just ate at WPE a few weeks ago, on our last trip. It was so good. I remembered reading your previous TR's and seeing how good the food looked so I had to try it out. I've never been to Ikea. I don't think there's one anywhere around us. That man on the bus would have freaked me out so bad. First off, I hate things that smell, but I really hate confrontations too. We have an Ikea here and its so fun to go in and look around. My DD loves to sit in the rooms all decorated and pretend it's hers. She tries all the beds and decides which is her favorite. :rotfl: Like Goldilocks.
If we want a cheap meal we go in for the hotdogs and cinnamon buns.

I used to go to Atlanto every year to stay with my Aunt who lives in Buckhead. The last time I went was last year in January. We went to the Atlanta station and I HATED that place. :lmao: The stores that were there weren't any different then you'd find in any mall and in the mall it isn't freezing. :rotfl:

That is scary about the homeless guy. :scared: You know you want to feel bad for people like that, but some of them seriously don't know how to act. I don't know how many times I've been stopped in Atlanta and asked for money .. it's sad.

i'm sure everyone and their mother was on the road with you that day. but going through atlanta, you're taking a chance of hitting traffic ANY TIME. it's just so ridiculous. not that you went through on a weekday but rush hour starts at around 7:30 in the morning and doesn't end until after 10:00 and then the afternoons are worse - it starts at 3:00 and ends around 7:00. i couldn't do it every day!

as far as baby news, the due date is april 12th. so far, so good, as far as i know. they're not together any more which is probably a good thing. but i'm pretty sure she's still going to let him be involved in everything. she's not my favorite person in the world so i figure if i can't say anything nice, i shouldn't say anything at all. ;)

Hi Dawn!!:wave2: Loved the mini TR!!

thanks! :goodvibes

I don't know how many times I've been stopped in Atlanta and asked for money .. it's sad.

atlantic station was just not my thing, but some people love it. yeah, atlanta can be bad for homeless people. when we went to see the lion king at the atlanta civic center last spring (which is where we're going this friday to see the killers concert), we saw LOTS of homeless people. it's just really a sad sight to see. luke kept walking ahead of us because he doesn't realize it might be dangerous and chris was telling him not to walk off and said something about "i don't want to have to drop kick a crackhead," which he probably shouldn't have said in front of luke but he wasn't thinking. so luke thought that was so funny and started yelling, "DROP KICK A CRACK HEAD!!!!!" with all these homeless people around. nice!

OMG!!! THAT IS TOO FUNNY!!!!
Amy is actually picking up our tickets at will call! So, we don't know where they are yet. She said that they were supposed to be really good seats, so we will see!
My niece is sooooooo excited!!!! She loves them!!
That will be cool to have a mini dis meet!!:lmao:

cool! anna got our tickets pretty late so the good ones were all sold out and we had to get tickets the next level down. but like i said before, i don't think there's really a bad seat in the house.

That room looks nice. I need info for this place. I'm so picky about where I stay, esp in ATL but DD wants to go see the American Girl store. I could stay here...it looks clean and roomy. So send me the info girly. :thumbsup2

The mac n cheese looks YUM! OMG. I want some!

My dream is to one day go to Disney on the next plan up after deluxe. Not the biggest package but the next to biggest where ALL meals count as 1 credit no matter where you go...even V & A'a! And you get all tours included....all recreation....OMG. One day I wanna do this! You should do it before you guys have kids. Even if you did it for 3 days. OMG could you imagine?

i will PM you with the website for the hotel. i have no idea where the american girl store is, but if allie says it's not close to the hotel you may want to look into that! this place was VERY close to the airport, as in we could see planes taking off from our window. the noise wasn't bad though.

i think we're going back to WPE on friday when we go to the killers concert and ray wants me to bring him back some of that mac-n-cheese! he's not going to the show. so i guess he'll get it in a to-go box that's about 5 hours old! :lmao:

that's quite a plan! it doesn't sound wonderful. i doubt we'd get to do it before we have kids since we're hoping to start that process this year!

ok finally caught up ....again!! I love your pics at Epcot at night!! I just love it there after the sun goes down, its truly beautiful! I got a little teary eyed at the video of the christmas arch and the monorail going by...i loved it there at christmas time so much..and i just miss it ! ...But i am very happy to "re-live" it through your report!
Glad that the arm is healing nicely...and Atlanta looks fun, thats one city i have not been too yet! Ikea is magical and GINORMOUS..we have one about 30 minutes from us and we can easily spend 2 hours there!

it really is so pretty at night! i'm sure you'll make it back for the holidays someday soon. oh, i could spend way more than 2 hours at ikea - more like 2 days! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the update Dawn! It made me a bit homesick though. :sad1: My high school is having their last Basketball Homecoming this weekend. (next year it will start being during Football season) I sooooo want to go, but DS has a 4:45 basketball game and I have already missed two of his games so I don't want to miss anymore.

OneTreeHillAddict - I grew up in Atlanta, and where Dawn stayed and where the American Girl store is are FAR APART!!! You might want to find somewhere a little closer. Just a suggestion. ;)

you're welcome! i'm sorry i made you homesick - hopefully you can come visit soon!

I might be a bit late but I found your TR...XOKTENOX mentioned your pictures of Teppen Edo--I went when it was a different name but from what I remember it was good :)

oh, no problem! i'm just finishing up day 1. thanks for joining in!

cool! you're near opryland, i gather. that's a good area - near opry mills mall - although if the powers that be had any brains you would be near opryland instead!!!!

Hi Dawn! Finally caught up. Thanks for sharing the fun pics of Atlanta! I wish I was having my convention there this year instead of last year now that i "know" you. I'll be in Vegas this April. That Ikea store sounds great - they need to have one of those next door to every Cabella's or Sportman's Warehouse! :thumbsup2

did charles like the aladdin clip?

Yes, he did! He has been singing lines from it ever since. :lmao:

i haven't heard that santa song! i need to go look it up. i LOVE their new CD - you should check it out. my favorite song on it (right now - it will probably change) is "dustland fairytale." i will take pictures and possibly video for you at the concert!

Yes, please, on the video and pictures! I will go check out the album -- I get most of my music from itunes -- I like being able to just buy the songs I want -- any song by the Killers with the word fairytale is bound to be good! ;)

i'm sure everyone and their mother was on the road with you that day.

as far as baby news, the due date is april 12th.

Sure enough - everyone, their mother, uncle, grandma, and third cousin twice removed! It also didn't help that Brooklynn chose that trip as her first time to really throw up. Not like baby spit up, but the real bleeeeeck thing. We had to stop twice to de-clothe her, clean up her and the car seat and everything that was surrounding her, and then get into the suitcases to get more clothes and blankets. Let's just say it was a trip we'll probably not soon forget.

She's due pretty much the same time as Jill, then. They've told her the 8th or the 11th at different times, but I think she's decided to just say the 11th so she won't be let down if it doesn't happen on the 8th. We'll make you an honorary aunt for this one, if you wanna be! :)

As long as your brother makes himself involved, he'll have her enough that you guys will be able to bond with her, and it should work out for you to fit in some Disney trips with her when she's ready for that. Make your presence known from the beginning, and let her know you will be around!

Living in ATL, I have to jump in here and give you my two cents' worth -- go to the World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium (it's right next to the World of Coke). I wouldn't bother with Underground Atlanta these days.

dan, i was just going to suggest the georgia aquarium but jackie beat me to it! we've never been (i know!) but it's something we really want to do soon. i hear it's REALLY cool. i bet parker would love it! and the last time i was at underground atlanta, about 3 years ago, it was nothing but a bunch of night clubs. it's not a mall any more. not sure if it's still the night club place but i definitely would skip it. it's not much of anything to see.

thanks guys, i did not know that it has been maybe 15 years since i have been to ATL and the sites with my aunt.

i would love to see the world of coke, and the aquarium sounds really neat, we might have to check that out.

How far would you say? We drive so it doesn't matter too much. What is something nice close to the AG store?

I would guess it is probably a 35 - 45 minute drive without traffic, which is pretty unheard of in Atlanta ;) . She was down by the airport, which is S. Atlanta, and the AG store is in Alpharetta, which is N. Atlanta. I don't know of any hotels personally, but Alpharetta is a more affluent part of town, so I'm sure you could find something nice. (how'z that for a run-on sentence :rotfl2: )

If it were me, I would try to stay on the North end of town. I haven't been to that AG store yet either. We have tried the last couple of times I came home, but just ran out of time. We'll do it soon. When were you planning on going?

awesome! i'm near athens, northeast of atlanta. i've been to lenox many times - it's cool but not too much better than a standard mall. my favorite store in that place is crate and barrel!

Hi Dawn! Finally caught up. Thanks for sharing the fun pics of Atlanta! I wish I was having my convention there this year instead of last year now that i "know" you. I'll be in Vegas this April. oh, no fun about the puke! i guess that's something that happens with everyone. poor little thing. sure, i'll be an honorary aunt!!! :goodvibes oh and don't you worry. my brother baffles me sometimes. i'm just trying to stay out of it. i pray for him every day and i just hope he ends up making the right decisions. it's nothing serious - just stupid things he does. but don't worry - i will definitely be very involved! i can fake friendliness long enough to be around her for my brother and my niece's sake. i just don't think i can every truly like her after some of the things she's done.

Wow that four cheese macaroni looks fabulous! And I totally know what you mean about IKEA. I don't like going there, I always get overwhelmed because there is SO much stuff and I can never make up my mind!

just wanted to express my thoughts to anyone who lost their job or has a family member who lost their job today. it was a horrible day - 70,000-plus jobs lost. my thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

-----------------------------------------------
time to pick back up with the TR!

finally it was time for illuminations to start! i was the only one in my party who had ever seen the show. ray and i were dead tired last trip and left before the show started, so he had never seen it. and i had seen it in september with erica but the globe was being refurbished so i didn't get to see the full show.

right as the show started at 9:30 we noticed the MVMCP fireworks at MK. very cool! i'll go ahead and post the first video from illuminations just so you guys can see the MK fireworks. it made me excited for sunday when we'd be going to the party! :hyper:

i will post the rest of the videos below. first i will show my pictures from the show. as i said before, i had discovered a new setting on my camera and decided to use it for illuminations. now this setting is VERY sensitive and if you move just a little bit the pictures will be blurry. because i had nothing to set my tripod on, these pics aren't as good as they could've been. just wait until you see the ones i take at MVMCP when i had my tripod! i love this new setting. i think it slows down my shutter speed so the fireworks turn out so much better!

So.........what's your opinion of Illuminations? Does it rank up there with "Wishes"? I just love that extra holiday part - "Let There Be Peace on Earth" - makes me cry every time! Great pix, btw! LOVE the BW shots! Can't believe we'll be back there in less than three weeks!

we want a dream!!!!! this was my 5th trip to disney during the year(s) of a million dreams promotion and i hadn't won squat.

This reminded me of a thread that was on here a while ago when people were trying to figure out what Disney's new promotional theme was going to be this year. Someone posted: It was "Year of a Million Dreams"; next it should be: "Year of a Million Guests Who Didn't Win Squat!" :rotfl2:

I'm glad to hear that. You will love it. It's beautiful!
I think it's cool, too, that standing all around that lake watching it with you are families and friends from all over the world - all right there in that one area.

And to make the night even better, once it's over, you will just have to walk right out the back gate to be back home for the night. You'll really love that!

Dawn, thanks for all the Illuminations and other videos. They add so much to a report. I have watched that one Jill put up of Brooklynn dancing, if you can call it that, about twenty times. I wish we had done a lot more. We'll really have to make a more concerted effort in the future to do more video.

I want to go back to Atlanta this summer--see a Braves game maybe :) But I love the Atlanta area so much--would also love to go to Six Flags. We stopped at the Wendy's right across from the park--I've got pics :)

i haven't been to a braves game since around 2003, i think. they're fun but whenever i go it's always so hot! i love six flags but after going to disney i've come to realize that you go to six flags for the rides only - NOT for the atmosphere, customer service or food! it just doesn't even hold a candle to disney. now the rides are good if you like thrill rides. my new favorite is goliath - so much fun! you feel like you're coming out of your seat over all those humps.

superman is cool too! you are horizontal to the ground and it's really neat.

Thanks Dawn... I will show Hannah the fantasmic on that report. What did Luke think of Illuminations- and what do you think about it- you really did not say?

i loved it! it's not my favorite nighttime show but i just love them all. the music is great. luke liked it but made anna cover his ears during the fireworks.

We must have been posting at the same time. :upsidedow

I love the Illuminations fireworks pics, that new setting is very cool. :thumbsup2

Anna's pic is awesome!

Luke's green alien eyes....:lmao: , scary but cute at the same time.

The Boardwalk looks so beautiful at night.

thanks! yeah, luke didn't realize he had green alien eyes! he saw it later and thought it was cool.

Hi-just read through your trip report and it looks like y'all had a great time-and your pictures are great! I'm also in the Atlanta area-we're in Dacula.

thanks! i think the setting is called "twilight." i have a sony cybershot camera. that's a great setting for night shots but it's VERY sensitive so you almost have to have a tripod. i have a mini tripod that i usually sit on the top of a trash can to get fireworks pics.

Looks like you had fun at the weekend, we saw Cirque at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday it was very good!

yep! like i told melissa, i'm just very detailed so i can't leave anything out! otherwise i couldn't made my installments less-detailed and shorter and gotten done with the first day earlier. if i'm gonna stretch this thing over the next two years until my next trip i'm gonna have to slow down! :lmao:

Fantastic pictures! Hannah enjoyed watching the videos.

thanks! glad you guys enjoyed the videos.

Those are some amazing Illuminations pictures--I'm hoping to get some decent firework pictures but I still need time to play around with some of the settings. I really like Anna's funky picture, too!

thanks! just play with your camera and see what you come up with. the best piece of advice i can give you with fireworks pictures is to get a small tripod. you can get one at best buy for under $20, i think. mine is a 12-inch collapsable one that i can easily fit at the bottom of my backpack. it's impossible to hold your hand steady enough to get the really good shots so a tripod is a must!

i *may* try to do an update tonight to get a break in my typing. business is horrible lately and i had to borrow some typing work for my boss and i'm trying to get that done before the end of the month, so i've been doing nothing but typing lately and i'm needing a distraction! just depends on how much i get done today.

TOMORROW NIGHT I'M GOING TO SEE THE KILLERS!!!!!! :hyper: i'm so excited about this show! i've never seen them live and i've been such a huge fan for awhile now. they're the one band that i've never seen that i'm just dying to. i'm sure i will have pictures and video!

if you don't know who the killers are and are the least bit interested, go watch this. it's "mr. brightside" probably their most popular song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzqHGVMm2a0

i remember my sister saw them in birmingham in 2005 when she was doing a summer internship at UAB and she called me at like 1:00 in the morning from the show when they were playing that song. once i woke up and realized what i was listening to, i quietly got out of bed and then went in the kitchen and put the phone on speaker and danced around in my pajamas. :p

we're on to day 2! :cool1:

today was our DHS day. we woke up around 8:30, ate breakfast and got ready to go! i had seen in someone's TR where tinker bell had visted good little boys and girls while they were at disney world (thanks, jen!) so i had told anna about it and she used this to "motivate" luke and his behavior. he had recently seen the tink movie so anna told him that the tinker fairies might visit him if he was on his best behavior. low and behold, the tinker faires did come! see the green pixie dust?

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/01-5.jpg

did someone say bed head???

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/02-5.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/03-5.jpg

i checked the temperature just before we left and it was 40 degrees. :cold: WHAT???? i thought we were in florida!

so off we went to DHS. as we came into the parking lot, i noticed that we were parking WAY further away than i ever had. i was hoping it was just a different parking arrangement or something. we parked the car, bundled up and headed to the tram from the parking lot.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/04-5.jpg

once we sat down on the tram, that cold air hit us and we realized how COLD it really was! it was HORRIBLE! :faint:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/05-5.jpg

when the tram took off ray and i just huddled together and started cracking up laughing. i mean....we're in florida.....RIGHT????? :lmao:

we finally made it off the coldest, longest tram ride in history and headed towards the park. the pretty christmas tree outside!

you can see how cloudy it was.....just a very cold, GRAY morning.

we stopped to take some photopass pics.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/18-5.jpg

chris was standing behind the photopass guy making faces so ray was laughing at him here....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/image0427acopy.jpg

and anna took this. i don't know what in the heck ray is doing but when i saw this i lost it!!!!! :rotfl2:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/20-5.jpg

then it was anna, chris and luke's turn. now before we go on, i have to ask you guys to scroll back up to the picture right above the last one, the photopass pic of me and ray with our arms out. see the man to the right of me? yeah. after that picture he walked up and tried to get in front of anna, etc. to get his picture made. only he didn't say anything....he just walked up....AND STOOD THERE.....with this blank look on his face. we were like, "what is he doing?????" but obviously he was a big guy so nobody exactly jumped down his throat. the photopass guy just sort of adjusted where he was standing to take the picture. the rest of the trip every time we'd be having our picture made ray would imitate him by standing to the side with this dumb look on his face. :rotfl:

i decided we need to remember him in a very special way.....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/image0426acopy.jpg

:lmao:

okay, on to anna, etc.'s photopass pics....

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/23-4.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/24-4.jpg

after this we split up. this is the first day that we were split up for periods of time throughout the day. i think what i'll do is update you on what anna, chris and luke did, then tell you what ray and i were doing at the same time, k? :thumbsup2

anna, etc. headed towards the hat because they wanted to look around the little store underneath there.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/25-4.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/26-4.jpg

luke had seen a plush pluto that he didn't stop talking about the entire day before. they had one here too so they got it for him. as you can see, he was REALLY excited! :hyper:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/29-3.jpg

after that they hopped in line to meet goofy and pluto. waiting to meet the first characters of the trip!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/30-3.jpg

i love these pictures!

anna thought this photopass graphic was appropriate for chris and pluto's picture. :rotfl2:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/40-2.jpg

after that they headed down sunset to meet ray and i at tower of terror. they saw this guy on the way. i have no idea what he's doing but i'm sure it was funny!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/43-1.jpg

they stopped on the way for some photopass pics. i don't think they realized luke's eyes were closed in these pictures until they saw them online. that crazy kid! :rotfl:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/44-1.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/45-1.jpg

so back to ray and i......

when we split up ray and i headed straight to TSM to get fastpasses. it was madness over there! :crowded: the fastpass lines were all long so we just hopped in one. well, the machine in our line decided to break down, so we got in another line and waited awhile, only to realize the line wasn't moving and that machine was broken too. there was a poor CM there trying to fix them all and they were ALL breaking! :badpc: i felt bad for her. anyway, i can't remember how long we waited but it was awhile. we finally got fastpasses and the return time wasn't until 5:50. crazy! i'm just glad we got some.

we then headed over to tower of terror. we were both itching to ride! on the way we saw goofy and pluto and i called anna to tell her they were out there because i knew that luke was on a pluto kick.

heading towards my favorite ride! i love the tinsel stars.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/31-3.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/32-3.jpg

the wait was 20 minutes. it could've been longer - i'm not sure. i know we only waited about 20 minutes. i love this queue!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/33-3.jpg

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/36-3.jpg

there was a poor girl in front of me in line who was wearing very short shorts and flip flops. you could see the goose bumps on her legs! :scared: luckily she had a sweatshirt on but i couldn't believe she was wearing those shorts. we started talking at some point and she said she was from canada. i was like, "oh, then this probably isn't that cold for you, huh?" she goes, "no, but we were expecting to be much warmer!" she had never ridden ToT and was really scared. i told her i love this ride and i hate it at the same time, but that it's my favorite and i wish i could ride it every day! she thought that was funny and i think it eased her fear a little bit.

i called anna during the ride (knowing she was heading that way to meet us) and ray recorded the whole thing on his iphone. it was an awesome ride! once again, i lost track of how many times we dropped. :thumbsup2

here's my horrible redneck pic. i couldn't get it to focus really well. we're in the front row on the left side. you can see the scared canadian girl next to me with the blonde hair. she looked at me when it was over and said, "i loved it....and hated it....just like you said!" :)

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/37-3.jpg

unfortunately, ray had to reformat his iphone right after our trip and he lost the video of the ride.

up next.......will anna chicken out??? will luke ride??? you'll have to wait and see!

Great updates!!! What a treat for me to wake up to this morning!!

How cute that Tinkerbell came to visit Luke thanks to his good behavior. Green pixie dust and all! What a great idea!

Luke's face in the parking lot with his hat and gloves on is priceless. He's like "dude... why is it so cold?"

Yikes- those crowds are scary. I think that TSM has really added to the opening crowds.

That guy at photopass is funny!

Love how excited Luke was with plush Pluto and adorable when he got to meet the real Pluto and Goofy. :rotfl2: on the we're engaged photo!

Loved the update! All of your photopass pics are great, my favorite being the "We're Engaged" one :rotfl: That was halarious! Luke looked so excited to get his pluto - funny, our Luke picked one out on our first trip too, it's a bigger one but he still has it.
Glad you got Toy Story FP's. that ride is insane, I hope it dies down soon, it's impossible to ride if you get to the parks later in the day. Can't wait to see your Osborne lights pics, I want to go there so badly during that time of year.
Sorry it was so cold, hope it warms up for you!

OK, I will admit...right now 40 degrees sounds downright balmy to me but definitely NOT what you would expect at WDW!! I can't believe Ray was wearing shorts   We are supposed to hit 40 tomorrow here and I am very :hyper: about it but I will still be wearing my winter clothes!

Wow, crowds! How close to Christmas was this?

I'm sure Luke scored some points with Pluto showing up with a plush one. That's great.

That is an absolute hilarious photopass cropping job. Definitely something to be remembered. I think Brooklynn could give Luke's bedhead a run for his money. His is thicker, but hers is longer. Luke is too cute buying his Pluto. Brooklynn was the same way when we let her buy her Ariel doll. It went with us everywhere in October.

I have caught up on your trip. Your pictures are great. I am sorry that you had such cold weather. We were there the week after you and we had temperatures in the low 80s. The crowds were the worst I had ever seen as well. We have never been in the summer however.

Tower of Terror is my daughter's favorite ride, probably mine too. I wish we could ride it everyday as well.

Thanks for sharing your trip. I am really enjoying it. It is always fun to see kids having so much fun with the characters.

I am SO GLAD we missed that 40 degree day. OMG. I would have frozen to death being outside all day in that. Is this the day before I arrived? Was it really cold and then it warmed up? I remember you saying something about the full moon at DHS. I came in the next evening. It wasn't too bad that next night. We needed a light jacket but it wasn't anything near 40.

That close up of Luke and his dad....they look like twins! He's a precious little boy!

So what did camo man do after you guys finished your pic? Did he jump ahead or was he ignored?

i'm sure you know this but i didn't tape that (the linked video). i was actually not taping the song because i had my phone out and didn't have enough hands (had my coat and purse in the other because we had started walking down towards the exit) and then when the sparklers starting come down i dropped everything and took my camera out and started videoing. so i will have that part when i upload my videos and you will here me screaming! i love it when he says, "sing me a lullaby!" and then the sparklers came down!

yep, it is! see, i couldn't go during the summer. 90-degree weather + humidity x crowds = a very unhappy dawn. i couldn't handle it. i don't know how you guys do it! i know you have to because you're a teacher but i think i'd have to brave either christmas or spring break crowds just so i wouldn't have deal with the hot weather, too! but if doesn't bother you as much as it does me, more power to you. :thumbsup2

Boy that sure looks cold, days like that make me want to rethink a December trip. The decorations are so cute though...........

I noticed that guy in the very first picture. What the HECK??????? All I can say is that maybe he really had no idea he was in your picture? Hard to believe it though. But it does make the picture funny.

well, i think we had unusually cold weather. i know the next week it warmed up a lot there. you should've seen that guy when anna, etc. were getting their picture taken. he was standing like 3 feet away from anna on the side just staring at them like, "what are you doing???" :confused3

that dude in the photo was pretty funny, but the best was the 'proposal' bwahahahaha!

i know....wasn't that hilarious? :rotfl:

a lot of you asked what tink and the tinker fairies brought for luke. well, since they came every night that he showed good behavior, they brought him several things. i don't remember all of it, but i know that some of the gifts were a kaliedoscope, some matchbox cars, candy, a movie and one of those weasle ball things. i know there were a few other things but i can't remember them all. the fairies ;) got a lot of it at the dollar spot at target and dollar tree stores just to keep it simple.

:rotfl2: on the we're engaged photo!

thanks! i got that idea from jen (princessjv) so i have to credit her! and when i told anna about it she was all for it. you're right about TSM adding to the crowds. it's insane! luke was very excited about his pluto doll and i think it's really cute he got to meet him right afterwards!

Hi Dawn! :wave2: Great update! So, remember when I told you we were at DHS at the same time as you guys? Well, here I am (actually the back of me :crazy2: ), to the right of Chris, green sweatshirt, dark jeans... walking to see Beauty and the Beast! It's a small world after all! (I know, wrong park :) )

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/44-1.jpg

that is so cool!!! how funny. right about that time i'm guessing that ray and i were dropping 13 stories right down the street! :rotfl:

Loved the update! All of your photopass pics are great, my favorite being the "We're Engaged" one :rotfl: That was halarious! Luke looked so excited to get his pluto - funny, our Luke picked one out on our first trip too, it's a bigger one but he still has it.
Glad you got Toy Story FP's. that ride is insane, I hope it dies down soon, it's impossible to ride if you get to the parks later in the day. Can't wait to see your Osborne lights pics, I want to go there so badly during that time of year.
Sorry it was so cold, hope it warms up for you!
Lesley

thanks! yeah, i thought that engaged picture was just hilarious. anna got the idea after she saw an edit that i did on one of my fairy pictures, which you will see later on. cute that your luke got a pluto doll, too! this was luke's 3rd trip but the first time he went they only stayed 2 days and the second time was when they came to the pirate and princess party with us last year, so it was just for one night. this was his first "full" trip. the osborne lights were my favorite!!! i can't wait to share them with you guys.

Loved all the photos in this update! I have to ask -- what did Tink bring Luke???

thanks! look above to read about what tink brought luke.

Dawn those photopass pictures of that guy :rotfl2: He probably was probably figuring out what you guys were doing and wanted to join in on the fun. Chris and Pluto engaged - I'm jealous, that was a cute picture

Hey you never showed us what Tink brought Luke, we have to know every detail of your trip, member;)

i don't know if he didn't know what was going on or if he was just an idiot! :confused3 read above to see what tink brought luke!

How close to Christmas was this?

yeah, ray wore shores despite my warnings every single day of our trip except for the last day, which was our warmest day. go figure! :rolleyes2 he kept saying, "i'm in florida - i'm wearing shorts!" i don't care what state i'm in - when it's 40 degrees i don't wear shorts.

this would've been friday, december 12th. when we were deciding when to go i heard that the first two weeks of december were awesome crowdwise. so originally we booked the first weekend (wednesday - monday). but then when i found out that the christmas parade was being taped on saturday, december 6th, i nixed that idea. saturday was the only day of our trip with no MVMCP and seeing as we weren't buying park hoppers, we needed that saturday for our MK day. NO WAY was i going to MK on the day of the parade taping! so we switched to the next week. well, thanks to samantha brown, the secret of the second week of december IS OUT!!!! :crazy2:

I'm sure Luke scored some points with Pluto showing up with a plush one. That's great.

I noticed that guy in your photopass picture before I scrolled down to where you isolated on him. I thought it was a shame there was some guy right there with a weird look on his face.

ya think? i wonder what the characters think when they see a kid holding....them? :rotfl: that guy was a trip!

Great updates! Love the tink gift idea! I was wondering what did Tink bring him?

Sorry it was so cold!

thanks! read above to see what tink brought luke. yep, it was cold but we still had fun!

reall good upate, the pluto andgoofy pics are really good

thanks!

It went with us everywhere in October.

thanks! i couldn't help myself. i'd really love to get brooklynn and luke together - i bet they'd have a blast!

It being cold in Florida just isn't right! I can't even imagine it... it's usually 95-degrees with 100% humidity when we're there  I love all the pictures, especially the one of your little friend there  When I first saw the picture of you and Ray I noticed that you'd blocked out his eyes and was wondering why... too funny!

Love the TOT pic! Don't you just love that ride?! :goodvibes

i know! although i think i prefer the cold over 95 degrees and 100% humidity! :rotfl: yeah, that guy was just really weird. and yes, i LOVE that ride! it's now become my favorite.

:worship: I cannot believe that this is only Day 2! :woohoo: Love the update and the photos and especially the upcoming nuptuals of Pluto and said fiance! :rotfl2:

well, see, i'm not going back for 1 year, 2 months and 2 days, i have to make this TR last for awhile. :rotfl2: i will let you know when chris and pluto set a date.

It is always fun to see kids having so much fun with the characters.

thanks! yeah, i heard it warmed up after we left. actually, our last day (two days later) was really warm. i couldn't believe the crowds! i just wasn't expecting it. thanks for reading!

Wow I can't believe how cold it was, did Luke pack gloves or did Anna buy him some? I'd also like to know what Tink bought :)

no, anna already had those cars gloves and hat for him. i thought they were cute! read the previous post to see what tink brought luke (up at the top in red).

Great updates! I love the ToT pictures. You got some really neat angles. The Tink idea is a really neat one...may have to use it! What did Luke get from Tink?

thanks! i thought the tink idea was cute, too! jen (princessjv) gave me the idea. read the previous post (up at the top in red) to see what luke got form tink.

Great updates Dawn! I love how you are telling us what both groups are doing..its like 2 TRs in 1!! :)
That guy...HILARIOUS!

thanks! i don't know the details of what anna, etc. did but just from following her pictures and talking with her i get a good bit of it.

Loved the Studis pixDawn! Great update as usual!!

thanks so much!

Those pictures of Luke with Pluto and Goofy are so cute!!! I especially love the ones of Pluto holding himself.

i thought so too!

LOL "We're engaged..." I love the pic of Pluto holding Pluto, I didn't wanna say "holding himself"...that sounds dirty. :rotfl2:

yes, this was the friday of our trip. i believe you guys arrived the next day because that sunday we were both at AK, right? friday was our coldest day. saturday it was still chilly in the morning and at night but sunday it warmed up a lot.

yeah, luke looks just like chris but he ACTS just like anna. i have no idea what that guy did. i don't remember anyone else waiting so i'm sure he was next. but luckily the photopass guy handled it well when he tried to walk up in front of anna. that's so funny about "holding himself"....i thought so too!

Notice how quiet we're all being this morning so that you can sleep in after your wild concert night? :)

Luke's expression is so cute as he's watching Pluto hold Junior Pluto.

i didn't wake up until 10:30 yesterday!!! :upsidedow i got home around 1:00 and ray was still up and we started watching a movie on HBO, so we didn't get to bed until around 3:30. luckily we didn't have much going on yesterday (other than me busting my hiney to get work done by the end of the month) so we just slept in. i guess we should enjoy that option before we have a kid! :rotfl:

i noticed that too about luke looking at pluto. so cute!

Somehow I missed this b/c it hasn't been THIS long since i've been here

No offense taken......I don't clean people's teeth anyway. But I would like to think that usually I make people feel comfortable with what they have to get done. :goodvibes

it wasn't unbearable - i'm just a big baby. she did a good job.

AWESOME ROOM!!!!!!! That is so cool you guys got a little get away for FREE and really didn't have to go far!

i thought so too!

Is this where I'm supposed to laugh :rotfl:
Well at least you guys supported a very down business.

no, you were supposed to laugh when you see that of all places on our big night out we went to wolfgang puck express. we just can't get away from disney!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! (except for the goat cheese, not so crazy about that for some reason)
Just a 'few' things :upsidedow
I would think you guys did have left overs!! It's just SO hard to decide when you are standing there looking at that menu!!!!

i know....that's why we shared! it was so good!

This cracks me UP!!
And the fact that you have your camera in there taking pictures is REALLY funny to me!!! :lmao:

i have my camera in my purse about 70 percent of the time!

What a cool little area!
I have always wanted to go to an IKEA store. We might have to do that sometime!!

be prepared.....it takes being in the right frame of mind and comfy shoes to really be able to enjoy yourself in that place!

I haven't said much on here but I've really been enjoying your TR!
And it's so awesome you got to see The Killers! The song on the video you posted is the only one I've perfected on Guitar Hero. Haha.

thanks for reading! yes, the killers were so good. i love to play that song on guitar hero and rock band! it's one of my favorites.

great update and pics.

the one of Ray doing something with his leg is hysterical and the "We're Engaged" one is great too.

40 degrees. BRRRRR!!!

that one with ray is just ridiculously funny! he's such a goofball, :rotfl: you guys got there just in time. this was our coldest day. the next day (saturday, the day we saw you) it warmed up a little. still chilly in the morning and at night but not bad. then sunday was warm all day.

"He doesn't look a bit like Jesus, but the... da na na na na na, na na na na na na, when we were yoooooung..."

I watched a bit of the YouTube clip this morning after you posted it, and that part has been stuck in my head allllll day, Dawn!!

I don't even know the words! (Obviously!!)

"When we were yoooooooung......!"

:rockband:

i can finish for you....

...but he talks like a gentleman, like you imagined when you were yoouuuuunnnnngggggggggggg!!!!!!!!

:rotfl2:

at least you had a good song stuck in your head!

I give quite the rousing rendition of that song on Rock Band. :lmao:

i bet! i love that song on rock band. i just WAIL on it! :lmao:

Been "lurking" for a while...but am Loving! your TR's!! Can't wait to see more!

thanks so much for reading!

Oh, that's so awesome that you got to see the Killers! They're one of my favorites and I would LOVE to see them live someday. I'm glad you had a good time!

I loved the pictures from DHS too, especially the "we're engaged" one. And that guy...what the heck? I was wondering why there was a black bar over his eyes. Then I saw the close-up with the border. :rotfl2:

I will also be watching the Superbowl--only for the commercials. I think that there's some 3-D thing during it, too. I work in a grocery store and we've been giving away the glasses, so that's the only reason I knew about it. I have to remember to pick some up before I leave there tonight!

thanks! i hope to have the videos and pics from friday night uploaded and posted tomorrow. anna's supposed to give me her memory card tomorrow so i can get her pics too. that's what i'm waiting on.

i didn't even know about the 3-D thing until i saw your post, so i went and got the mickey's philharmagic glasses out of our disney stuff that ray swiped last year :upsidedow and we're going to take turns with them!

just got these from my brother. his baby is due on april 12th but they don't think jordan (the mother) is going to last that long because her cervix is already thinning. they had a 4-D ultrasound done awhile back and i've been waiting on these for awhile now!
