i don't!!!! :lmao: believe me, if i ate like that all the time i'd weigh 500 pounds. and didn't you notice the ba-dunk-a-dunk anyway???? i've been slacking this summer because i was so busy with work. but i've gotten back on the workout train these past two weeks. just hope i can keep it up through the holidays! no comment on the extra-curricular. :rolleyes1

That blueberry martini looked yummy!! :)

The martini looks good.
I wasn't hungry until I saw your pictures and I don't like seafood. GREAT pics.
It's weird. I would never go to a cemetery out here just to sight see, but it's seems so natural where you're at or somewhere like New Orleans...why is that?

Savannah is my favorite American city. Bonaventure is visually stunning. Would be a terrific place to be buried. The bird girl statue that graced the cover of the novel Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil was on a family plot to the far left of the cemetary. The name on the plot is Trosdel. Also, Johnny Mercer's plot is nice. Had you found it, there is a bench there with the titles of his most popular songs engraved in it.
This cemetary is one of the most beautiful sights I've seen. Savannah really is a gem of a city.

Aww, another lovely Savannah update! I really, really want to go back there now!!!
We visited the Bonaventure Cemetery when we were there too, as part of the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil tour. It was so beautiful and, dare I say it, haunting! An amazing place to visit.
And I think we went to the same candy place too! Yum! And I think we also went to Parker's Market! It was either that, or a place that looked very similar. Does it have lots of great knick-knacky homeware stuff inside, but also gourmet sandwiches!? We loved that place!
And I think we have the same dogs!! Hehee, no, not really.
This...
this tree made me want to climb it! but i figured that would be quite inappropriate in a cemetery.
... made me laugh out loud. Hehee. I had to explain to Conan was I was laughing at! :rolleyes1
Thanks for another fun update Dawn!

I actually just read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil earlier this year for the first time and it made me want to visit Savannah. But now, after seeing your pictures of everything I read about in the book, I want to see it EVEN MORE!
I had no idea that Bonaventure Cemetery was so huge! Wow, but it's GORGEOUS!
Belford's looks absolutely delicious! Especially those crab cakes!

"headed back home on sunday and that was my weekend. margot was so sweet and i'm so glad i got to spend some time with her. while we were waiting for our table at PF chang's she just sat in my lap and looked around and then when i'd play with her she'd make this little screaming noise that was so cute! and it was so nice to see some old friends from school and to see memom, jill, erica, brooklynn and bella! and of course it was fun being with erin all weekend, too. good company all around! :grouphug: "
I've been MIA lately...lots of H1N1 in our house keeping me hopping. That's the one thing about kids..they LOVE to bring those germs home and share with the whole family! Anywho....just wanted to say YEA! for seeing Margot! I love this age. They are alert and happy and play with you but still can't run away quite yet! Happy to hear you had a great time...okay I'm off to finish catching up with the rest of the report.
Okay I'm caught up....I have never been to Savanna...now I want to go! It looks incredible. I wonder if I can convince my DH to take a trip down there just the two of us? That would mean Grandparents watching the kids so it would be convincing them too!
Thanks for sharing the trip info...now I have ideas of where to go if we do go to Savanna!
Keeping my fingers crossed for the baby situation! It'll happen when it's supposed to! We tried for over a year on our first one...just when we were getting ready to start treatment I found out I was pregnant! Just relax and remember trying is the fun part!!!

How fun! Those pictures in the cemetery are just gorgeous. There was a very, very old cemetery by a camp I used to work at, and I loved going in there and taking pictures. I looked at the Miley Cyrus link...that boot is weird! Savannah sounds so interesting!

I WANT ONE!!!! Goodness that looks good!!!!
The lighting is REALLY cool!! :thumbsup2
yeah, it was yummy! and i loved the lighting in those pictures, too.
The pictures of Ray's co-workers family are adorable! That little girl is a camera ham and sooo cute
Wow, that cemetery is really beautiful. That sounds kind of weird to say that a cemetery is beautiful though haha But all that spanish moss and the big statues and all were so pretty.
I agree, the ghost tour really did seem more like a history tour but still really cool! idk if I'd be able to stay in any of those haunted places LOL
yeah, she's adorable! i love to walk through cemeteries, especially old ones. it seems creepy but i just love the historic aspect of it and they're usually very pretty. ray asked me if i wanted to see how much it would cost to stay in room 204 (the haunted room) at 17hundred90 inn and i told him no way!
Cool pictures from the cemetary!
Oh, I could go for some fudge right now -- there is something about fudge made on the coast that is always so delicious to me.
i love ALL fudge, especially amaretto-flavored fudge. yum.
:rotfl2: Ba-dunk-a-dunk! Never had one. Always kind of had a small not badunky butt! You still look great! :thumbsup2
you want some of mine????? i will gladly let you have some. i got it honestly from my mama.
Loved your update! We spent one day in Savannah and enjoyed it, I would love to go for a week. It's so beautiful!

Love the pictures of Bonaventure! I really have to make it to Savannah one of these days!!!

well, when you guys decide to go let me know and i'll tell you the cool things to see and do! and yes, that martini was very good.

It's weird. I would never go to a cemetery out here just to sight see, but it's seems so natural where you're at or somewhere like New Orleans...why is that?
it was! you live in cali and you don't like seafood? wanna trade locations with me for a few meals? i guess the reason cemeteries are more tourist-y in old cities like that because they are SO OLD and there is so much history there. it's kinda creepy but really cool at the same time!

hi! thanks for reading. yeah, we asked about the bird girl statue and they said it had been moved to a museum in savannah. i love that statue - it's so eery. glad you enjoy savannah as much as i do!

bonaventure is sooooo pretty! and yes, haunting. i can't imagine going there at night. yep, it sounds like you guys went to parker's market. we always try to stop by there! i hope conan doesn't think i'm crazy....wanting to climb a tree in a cemetery.

yeah, that's a great book. and you would LOVE the city! and bonaventure is ginormous. belford's is one of our favorites. i think this is the 3rd time we've been there - good crab cakes!

i hope you guys have recovered from H1N1! margot is getting so big. i can't wait to see her again, probably at christmas. she's going to be a pumpkin for halloween and i'm sure i will have pictures of that. savannah is so pretty - you'd love it. if you guys go, let me know and i'll tell you some things to do/places to eat. i'm trying to remember that we should be having FUN with the baby thing and for the most part i'm pretty calm and not stressed about it. but i can't help but to be impatient sometimes. but i know it will happen for us sooner or later!
Your pictures are very pretty, but "ghost stuff" is not on my list of things to do. I would have nightmares for the rest of my life.
it honestly wasn't that scary. i was expecting more as far as the scary stuff goes.

before i continue with our last full day in savannah, i wanted to take this time to celebrate the fact that we are now inside of 400 days until our next disney trip!!! :dance3:
that is, if we are still gonna go in december 2010.
yes, you read that right. we are playing with different ideas, all depending, of course, on the baby-making outcome. if i get pregnant before the end of the year, the plans won't change. if it happens in january, february or march, we will probably cancel december 2010 and change to april or may 2011 because i will have a VERY small baby in december and that won't work. if it happens in april, may or june, then we will cancel december and change to early october 2010. this way i will be pregnant, but not too pregnant and can enjoy ALL THE FOOD at the food & wine festival, plus we can go to the halloween party, which ray has never done. and of course if happens any time after june of next year then i will be okay with going in december. it makes me feel better knowing that we have a plan - i don't feel so stressed and rushed now. i know that sounds silly. obviously my priority it starting a family over going to disney. but you know i love to plan and not knowing what's going to happen drives me nuts! so now that i know that we can make arrangements in any event, i'm much more at ease. :goodvibes

finally, our last day in savannah/tybee island!
this was our lazy day and i was looking forward to it! i got up early on sunday and let ray sleep in and went to the beach by myself before he joined me about an hour later. when i first got there i saw a huge freight ship that had probably just come by river street.

as we were sitting there, relaxing and enjoying the sound of the ocean, i noticed this in the water.....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02653/674976126_pPvSS-L.jpg
we both got all excited. it looked like it could possibly be a school of dolphins or a very large fish. but as we kept watching, we realized it was just a big log.....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02649/674975261_ccfPp-L.jpg
what a couple of morons! :lmao:
to our defense, we saw lots of other people get excited over what they were seeing, too, but then realize it was just a big piece of wood. so we were surrounded by morons.
more bird pictures. thank goodness for that lens.

it was so nice out that day and i loved just sitting on the beach and relaxing, then going down to the water to dip my feet every now and then. so nice!
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02700/674978873_QEEuz-L.jpg
a very odd bird we saw....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02751/674982064_7h8wa-L.jpg
at some point we walked up to the pier and got lunch at subway, but there were no bird incidents on this day, thank goodness.
after our relaxing day at the beach, we decided to head back to the house around 2:00. i did some reading in the hammock in the back yard while ray watched some football, then we cleaned up and decided to head to dinner here.....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02789/675005736_3SFbm-L.jpg
uncle bubba is paula deen's brother and his restaurant is located on the marsh between savannah and tybee, so only about a 10-minute drive for us. we had eaten here a couple of years ago, but we had lunch and we weren't that impressed. we decided we'd give his dinner menu a try.
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02788/675004559_bsQCL-L.jpg
the fishies as you come into the restaurant....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02754/674983517_Qcder-L.jpg
we decided to sit on the back deck because it was so nice outside.

http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02759/674986315_wJNRo-L.jpg
i got a mojito to drink and it was very yummy!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02761.jpg
we got crab bites for an appetizer and they were SO good. we got an extra side of that sauce, too. yum!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02760.jpg
while we were waiting on our food we saw several kitties hovering around. they would wait until someone left and then eat anything that had fallen on the ground around their table.
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Savannah/DSC02770/674987477_C645t-L.jpg
for dinner ray got fried shrimp with cheese grits and black-eyed peas.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02764.jpg
i got bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp with savannah red rice and corn on the cob.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02762.jpg
here's my corn and you can kinda see the little corn muffins they brought us, too, which were really good!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02763.jpg
this meal was SO GOOD! i'm so glad we gave it a second chance because it was awesome. the sauce on that shrimp was scrumptious and the savannah red rice that came with it was out of this world.
for dessert we got chocolate creme brulee, which was very yummy too!
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/DSC02771.jpg
and to top off a great meal, a very nice lady who was on her way out came over to our table and gave us a coupon she didn't use with a free entree with the purchase of one entree. so we got ray's dinner for free! :thumbsup2

we walked out towards the marsh on the way out and got some pictures. it was so pretty out there but it stunk! the marsh stinks in some areas, i guess because the water is sort of stagnant there.

when we got back to the house, we decided it was time to take the boys to the beach again. it was around 7:30 at this point and the sun wasn't quite down yet, so we figured it would be the perfect time. we drove to several spots before we found a good place. here are some videos of our adventure.

we went to bed fairly early that night - it was nice though. our last day was so relaxing and that's just what we needed!
we woke up the next morning to POURING rain! it made it a little bit easier to leave the beach. 4-and-a-half hours later and we were home with two very tired beagles. but we all had a great time! i'm glad we got the chance to go. even if it was a short trip, we both had an awesome time and it's one we definitely needed!
i will get back to my FINAL installment of my ACTUAL TRIP REPORT soon, but first i'll have to post my disney on ice pics and some halloween pictures i'll be taking tomorrow night. ray and i are dressing up this year! you will have to wait and see what our costumes are. i wanted to do a couple costume but we couldn't agree on anything. my favorite idea was for ray to be president obama and me to be his nobel peace prize but ray thought we'd offend somebody. i just thought it was funny.
hope every one has a safe and....
:hmghost: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! :hmghost:

I've loved seeing all your pictures from Savannah! It's on my list of places I want to see. Of course, I'd get more of that accomplished if I'd stop going to disney world.

Is Ray reenacting The Thinker, or is he just about to punch himself in the face?
Uncle Bubba's looks like a fun place to eat. Great atmosphere for that type of restaurant. I'm glad you gave it a second chance. I would probably have ordered what you had. It looks delicious!
Glad Sherman and Eli made it to the water. I bet they had fun. :)
I'm glad you got to take such a nice, relaxing vacation. It is so important to get away from the grind sometime and just rejuvenate. It's kind of nice that it rained and made it easier for you to leave. It might have been a bit hard pulling away on a beautiful sunny day.
I look forward to Disney on Ice pictures, as well as Halloween pictures. You guys have a fun evening!

i agree. bacon rules. i don't think i could ever be jewish just because i love bacon too much. :rotfl:

that's his "ray deep in thought" pose. i have several pictures of him doing that. it's sort of a little joke we have. uncle bubba's was good! i'm glad we went back, too. i'm glad we got away, as well. we both needed it! and it was pouring rain when i got up on the day we left...buckets full! it did make it easier to leave.

just FYI - the last installment of our savannah trip is on the previous page!
figured i'd go ahead and post my "disney on ice: celebrations" pictures before the halloween festivities begin.
we went to see this show on sunday, october 18th. heather (hlrababy) got our tickets and i paid her back, but then my friend erin decided she wanted to take her little sister. but as i had already gotten my ticket, we couldn't sit together. so we just rode together and i met heather there. heather - if you wanna add any pictures of your own, feel free!
here's erin and her little sister, kristin, on the way into phillips arena. kristin is only 6 years old and erin is 32. erin's dad and stepmom got pregnant unexpectedly a few years ago and along came kristin! and it's funny because she looks just like a little, blond-headed erin!

http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Disney-on-Ice-October-2009/DSC03110/689143500_nHNia-L.jpg
i don't know how many of you read about my disney on ice experience last year, but let's just say i wasn't a very happy disney fan when we got there over halfway through the first half of the show. i missed cars and the little mermaid! this year we got there like an hour before the show so everything was A-ok!
oh, and it was funny because we got in line to get in and heather and hollie were about 2 people in front of us in line. great minds think alike! ;) chad (heather's hubby) didn't get to come because he was sick. so hollie's cousins took turns sitting in chad's seat because it was closer than the seats they had.
we got inside and looked at all the overpriced merchandise they had. i thought the binoculars were cute.
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Disney-on-Ice-October-2009/DSC03117/689145515_dHbhz-L.jpg
i really wanted this gus plush doll but it was $12.99. and it was tiny. i don't think so!
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Disney-on-Ice-October-2009/DSC03118/689147174_2sWHh-L.jpg
i ended up getting the soundtrack for the 25th anniversary of disney on ice. it's pretty cool! erin got kristin a horse that was supposed to be cinderella's horse and i think she paid around $15, which actually wasn't too awful bad. i'm sure she bought other stuff too. i know she got her one of those slushies during the show and kristin didn't like it.
i grabbed a slice of pizza since the show started at noon and i knew i wouldn't be able to wait until it was over to eat. a slice of pizza and a bottle of water cost me $10!!!! then i headed to my seat and found heather and hollie were already there. erin had paid more for her and kristin's seats and they were about 4 rows back from the ice. she hasn't sent me her pictures yet but if/when she does i will share them with you guys!

heather and miss hollie....
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Disney-on-Ice-October-2009/DSC03122/689150235_chw8R-L.jpg
there was a lady sitting to my right who was just cracking us up before the show started. first of all, when i went to sit down in my chair she was asleep with her coat over her head and had her legs crossed and all over in the area where my legs would go when i sat down. so i said "excuse me" but she didn't move, so i just sat down and when i BARELY touched my leg to hers, which couldn't be avoided, instead of waking up and said, "oh, excuse me" or "i'm sorry," she just huffed really loud and shifted her legs to the other side. :confused3 and every time her kids would say anything to her she would say, "shut up! i'm sleeping. i don't feel good." THEN during the show she still had her coat over her head and the sleeve of it would sometimes fall into my lap. at one point i picked it up and threw it back over her - i didn't know heather was watching me when i did it and when i saw that she caught me doing it we both started laughing. :rotfl:
here's a picture heather took of me and my new sleepy friend before the show.

hollie got one of those things you blow in and the paper rolls out and it was REALLY big. heather kept telling her to "blow up" instead of out and, amazingly, she never hit anyone in the head with it!
http://punkin413.smugmug.com/Other/Disney-on-Ice-October-2009/DSC03127/689152071_pCuCf-L.jpg
this is hollie and her cousin, bailee (heather - i think that's her name but you can correct me if i'm wrong). so cute!

Savanah looks gorgeous! It's one of the places I've always wanted to go....must be part of my Gone with the Wind fascination.:)
I feel the same. When I was in Atlanta, I wanted to go see the "old plantation homes" Jim kept reminding me of Gone with the Wind, and the fact that "Atlanta burned." I'm glad there are still a few old places around the South.
P.S. I know this is a really late comment, but I am so behind on the boards lately.

Okay, sorry I've been MIA Dawn. I'm all caught up. I loved your Savannah trip! The food pics made me really hungry. Thanks for the tour of the cemetary - I love old cemetaries! Jim and I just toured one in Boise - we love to read them and make up stories about the families buried there.
Thanks for sharing Disney on Ice! I hope I get to take the grandbabies some day - it looks amazing! I remember seeing the Ice Capades in Seattle once as a kid - it was so fun!

here's ariel girl! (shout-out to brooklynn!)
next it was time to "celebrate" vacations! first we go to the beach. here's the guy that memom, jill and erica drooled over in nashville. i think he's supposed to be lilo's older sister's boyfriend. i can't remember the name of his character though! hollie knew it at the time because she told heather that's who it was. so i got schooled by a 4-year-old! :goodvibes

Lilo's sister's boyfriend is still looking good in Atlanta, too. ;)
I told Jill you had a picture for Brooklynn, but they had already left the house. It seems that Ariel-girl's mother didn't have enough red hairspray and had to stop by the ocean's local Walmart to get some more before she could trick-or-treat. :)

time for one more non-TR update and then i will finish this baby up!
i wanted to post some halloween pictures. ray and i have been together for almost 16 years now and have never dressed up for halloween together. our neighbors were having a party this year and so we decided to dress up. we were gonna do a couples costume, but we never could agree on anything. my favorite idea was that ray could be president obama and i could be his nobel peace prize, but he was afraid we'd offend someone. :confused3 anyway, i will get to the pictures of our costumes in a bit.
first, here is my spooky front porch.....

funny story.....she was a skunk for halloween and when she first got her costume a couple weeks ago, she was wearing it out in the yard. i went over there and was saying things like, "shew wee, you stink!" and she kept poking out her little hiney and "spraying" me. it was really funny. well, later that night her dad came by here to ask ray something about his computer on his way home from work and i told him, "your daughter was a skunk today and she sprayed me." he got this really concerned look on his face and said, "did she fart on you?" :rotfl2: he didn't know about her skunk costume yet and thought she'd really "sprayed" me!!!
okay, back to the update. first thing's first. ladies and gentleman, let me introduce to you the cutest pumpkin there ever was, LITTLE MISS MARGOT!!!

here is luke on halloween. he was a bakugon. i'm pretty sure i spelled it wrong, but it's some sort of new toy that he showed me yesterday where these balls land on a magnet card type thing and pop out and become different animals or vehicles or whatever. it's beyond me but the little boys apparently like it. i'm not sure what he was, but it had something to do with that whole "thing" and he was totally awesome!

Great costumes! I didn't even think that was you in the first one as Amy Winehouse, looking out the door. That's a great idea for a costume though -- kinda gives you license to be really crazy at the party. ("I'm just tryin' to stay in character")
I really like Ray's....the shirt, the eyebrows, the spray-on hair....all fantastic. But I have to say, he wouldn't go as Obama, but he'd go as a recently-deceased celebrity? :confused3

i'm kinda glad you didn't know it was me!!! i don't want to be recognizable as a crazy drunk! i think he thought we'd offend someone. i don't know why though. he is all gung-ho about obama so it's not that he's against him. i'm not as optimistic as he is. don't get me wrong - i'm glad he won because i don't know if i could deal with the possibility of sarah palin as my president. but i just didn't buy into the obama thing like ray did. ray is usually the skeptical one but for some reason he really likes obama. i really don't want to get into politics on here (just because no one EVER wins that battle!). but suffice it to say that i'm not a democrat nor a republican. i'm just ME and i vote for whoever i think will do a better job. i thought the idea of obama and his nobel peace prize was brilliant but he just wasn't going for it! oh, and thanks about the mountain pictures. it was so pretty up there!

I'm not sure what the Bakugan stuff is about either, but my students are all into it. They have tried to explain to me about which ones have power, etc., but I don't have a clue. All I know is they love to bring them on Show & Tell day, and they stick to the whiteboard. The boys gather 'round them and the girls gather 'round the Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and Jonas Brothers stuff.

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
3 15-oz. cans mexican (ranch style) beans - do not drain (i leave these out because i hate beans!)
1 15-oz. can corn - do not drain
1 14-oz. can chopped tomatoes - do not drain
1 14-oz. can tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups water
1 4.5-oz. can chopped chiles
1 pack (2.5 oz.) taco seasoning
1 1-oz. pack of ranch (hidden valley) salad dressing mix
brown ground beef and onion, then drain. add all other ingredients together and bring to a boil. add beef and onions and simmer for 30 minutes.

So, I will be hanging out at home Dising, doing chores, grocery shopping, church, dabbling in some school stuff off and on as the mood hits.
Maybe I will make taco soup. :)
Connor is into Bakugan, too! I guess it is all the rage with little boys right now.
Yes, some of them can understand and explain that in great detail, but they fail a simple ten question test on habitats. Is there a 'sigh' smiley?

fun!!! i haven't been to dollywood since i was like 9 years old. i bet it's a lot different now! oh, i was just at anna's house giving her some of ray's cake to eat and i warned her that i'm totally gonna be a dork and wear my "team edward because jacob doesn't sparkle" sweatshirt to the movie on the 20th. she said she'd be disappointed if i didn't. :lmao:
you will be able to find PLENTY of vols shirts up there!!!
yay....go vandy! that was actually a better game than i thought it was gonna be. we play florida tomorrow. i doubt i'll even watch!
so what is everyone doing this weekend? my saturday is gonna be mega boring - i have to co-teach a continuing education class for court reporters. but at least it's at the local courthouse so i don't have to go far. but sunday ray and i are gonna go see "a christmas carol" in 3-D at the imax theater!!! we've already bought tickets so i'm super excited! :3dglasses
Awww, I love Dollywood!! We have only been once, I actually won tickets from a radio station so Chad and I checked it out. OH MY GOSH!!! It was so clean, and nice, and the people who worked there were super, super nice!!! It is a huge difference from Six Flags. Now, it used to be nice (when I worked there) you had to talk to people and interact with them. The kids there now...UGH!! They are awful! Your lucky if they even look at you in the eye! I worked at Monster Plantation and we had to help people in and out of the boats. Well, when we went last year the girl was just leaning on the controls and just pointed her finger for you to get in. I looked at her and said, "Um, excuse me. Aren't you supposed to be talking to us, helping us in the boat, picking a booger, etc?" She just looked at me like I was stupid! I can't stand rude, inconsiderate kids!! So, I choose Dollywood anyday over SFOG. I also heard that Dolly has a lot of her kin folk working there.
Oh, and they have the best corndogs EVER!!! :rotfl2: My sister thinks I am crazy because I told her she has to try it. The little old man working in the stand dips it himself as you order it, then fries it. While the little old lady is making tater twirls! Awwwww, so yummy!!
Um yeah!! You better wear that shirt and take a picture! I am gonna do the same thing with my shirt!! I am so excited!!!
Oh no...sending some good vibes for the Florida game!!! I will cheer for Vandy really loud!! :rotfl2:
Oh cool!!! You will have to let me know how the movie is. We were gonna take Hollie to go see it today but she said she was too tired to sit still! :rotfl:

Your Halloween looks so fun! Interesting choice of costumes! Your fall mountain pics are really beautiful! I love the Fall colors - we don't get many of those here.
Thanks Punkin and Winkers for the Taco Soup recipes. I'm going to have to try those. I wonder how they'll do in the crock pot?

thanks for posting that taco soup recipe! me and chris are gonna try and make it this week it sounds so yummy :thumbsup2
i have a really busy weekend coming up so we're going to see A Christmas Carol next weekend...no IMAX around here though! you're gonna have to let us know how it is :)
you're welcome! hope it turned out good if you tried it. i will let ya know how the movie is. we're going tomorrow afternoon.
Ray looks so funny. I actually didn't recognize either of you.
good! i don't want to be recognize as a crazy drunk. :lmao:
I love taco soup! It's my go-to easy winter meal.
I have a really simple recipe....browned hamburger, 2 cans black beans, 1 can corn , 1 large can of tomato juice or V8, taco seasoning and a tbs brown sugar. I put it all in the crock pot.
oh, your recipe looks great! someone gave me the one i posted - it's a weight watchers recipe but it's good! i bet adding the brown sugar is yummy!
:rotfl2:Dawn your costume was so funny!! I have to say I love Ray's UT shirt given I am from East TN. The fall colors are beautiful and it makes me want to go up to the Smokies to see the leaves, just got to talk my husband into the drive.
Heather - You can definately find a Vols shirt in PF, should be no trouble. :thumbsup2
thanks! yeah, i think the are peaking right now so you better go soon! it's so pretty right now everywhere. i wish it would last longer!
Margot is the cutest little pumpkin ever, and you and Ray cracked me up with your Halloween costumes!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:
Connor is into Bakugan, too! I guess it is all the rage with little boys right now.
i agree about the little pumpkin! :goodvibes i guess i better get ready for bakugan mania then!
Wow, it took me three days but I've read all 188 pages!
I'm missing Christmas at Disney, so your tr is just wesome. And I'm loving the extras too.
thanks for reading and WELCOME!!!
I've really had an interest in checking out Dollywood lately. I wish it would be open in March, because that would help with my spring break troubles.
Yeah, I guess you are just right in the crazy department. :thumbsup2

i need to go back to dollywood, too. it's been over 20 years since i've been there. i'm sure it's so different now! hope you have a good, productive weekend. i had a continuing education class today that went pretty good. and tonight i've been typing and now i'm taking a break to dis a little bit. let me know if you make the soup and how you like it!
my mom used to say something similar to me. she'd listen to me sing every word of every song on the radio and then look at me sand say, "now how come you can't memorize your multiplication tables???"

i really need to get back there! six flags is horrible!!!!! i hate going there. now i LOVE the rides, but the park itself is disgusting and the people working there are just flat out rude. they are NEVER pleasant, at least not that i've encountered. one time when me and my brother and his girlfriend at the time were there, we were walking to the car and they had one area of the parking lot blocked off, but it was really confusing. well, we kind of walked in the wrong area (not knowing it) and the person who was working in the parking lot starts yelling at us and flagging us to go the other way, like really forcefully. it was so obnoxiously rude. so i yelled at her, "you have a great day. and your customer service skills rock." she looked at me and said, "just doing my job." so then i yelled back, "we are SO not at disney world!!!!!!" :rotfl2: i just couldn't help myself.
yeah, we lost. 27-3. but at least it wasn't like 82-3!!! i wish we could've at least got a touchdown though.
i'm sure you've seen the previews but the part where marley's ghost comes back to haunt scrooge is kinda creepy. i just didn't want you to take hollie and be surprised by that. it's not extreme - probably just depends on the kid as to if it's too scary or not. we are seeing it tomorrow afteroon!

i had to share these with you. well, first, before i get to the ones i'm gonna share, let me show you this. it's luke's very first school picture! isn't he getting big? he's a kindergardener now.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/IMG-1.jpg
i have no idea why that's so ginormous. oh, and my scanner kind of cut off the left side but you get most of the picture.
okay, now on to what i was gonna show you. one of my good friends, amanda, just got back from disney. she and ben (her hubby) and alex (their DD) went to orlando with ben's brother, sister-in-law and their DD for a week. amanda called me like a month before and said they wanted to surprise the girls with a day at magic kingdom, but that's all they wanted to do because it was unexpected and they didn't have the money for a full disney vacation. she wanted to eat in the castle......A MONTH OUT FROM THEIR TRIP!!! :scared1: of course nothing was available when i tried to get her an ADR at CRT and everything else was booked up too. all i could get was the ohana breakfast with lilo and stitch and neither girl even knew who they were! well, about 2 weeks before they left i happened to be online looking at something for another client and i thought i'd try again and i got her BREAKFAST AT CRT!!!!!! :woohoo: i was SO excited for them!!! i called her to tell her and she was running around her office, telling all the people she worked with. they were mostly guys and didn't "get" her excitement - she said they thought she was a crazy person!
anyway, amanda does photography work on the side and so she had some really great pictures. for those of you who have been around on my TRs for awhile, she took the pictures of me, brooke and brett (my siblings) in november of '07 for my dad for christmas that year.
so here are her pictures!
they went to DTD for a day, too. so i will share those first.

THE FINAL INSTALLMENT OF THIS TRIP REPORT!!!!
part of me wants to do this....:sad1:
and the other part of me wants to do this.....:woohoo:
it's taken me just short of a year to write a TR for a four-day trip!!! but it was packed full of fun so i guess that's what matters.
since it was over a month ago since i did my last update :rolleyes1 here is the link in case you need to be reminded of where we were:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33485393&postcount=2569
basically, we had just watched the once upon a christmastime parade.
after the parade it was around 11:00 and we were all SO TIRED!!! we parted ways and said, "see ya at the condo," then anna and chris headed out of the park. here are some pics she took along the way....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/01-29.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/December142008DisneyDay4AnimalKi-19.jpg
she said they stopped by the camera center (near tony's) on the way out and told the CM there about losing her photopass card the day before. she said it took awhile, but that they found all her pictures for her! :thumbsup2
they then caught a boat back to WL and here are some pictures she took there that night.....SO PRETTY!!! i can't wait to see these things with my own eyes.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/December142008DisneyDay4AnimalKi-18.jpg

they actually didn't get back home until after ray and i did, so it took them a good while at the photo center to find her pictures because we walked around more before we left.
back to me and ray.....
after the parade i knew the end was coming. and i was very sad. :sad2:
we decided to walk through frontierland and adventureland on the way out since we really hadn't been over there nearly at all during the party. in frontierland we saw woody and buckeye in the diamond horseshoe signing autographs. i had seen them earlier, but we didn't stop either time.
here is splash mountain at night.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC09884.jpg
as we were walking through adventureland and nearing the magic carpets, i came around the corner to see this guy.....
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC09886.jpg
IT'S BIG AL!!!!!!! he's my FAVORITE country bear and it was SO NEAT to see him out and about. i've only seen him in parades before!
you can tell i'm slightly excited to meet him.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/punkin1803/december%20TR/DSC09894.jpg
i knew i'd be sad when we left but i'm actually very proud of how i held myself together. i was teary-eyed but i wasn't laying on the ground, kicking and screaming and crying my eyes out like a three-year-old, so that was definitely a plus for ray. i just sat on the monorail in silence and watched the gorgeous castle until i couldn't see it any more as we pulled into the TTC. i knew i'd be back, and hopefully when i do come back i will have a little one with me. so it will be all that more special. two years is a long time to wait though. but i can't complain - i went to disney world twice in 2007 and three times in 2008 and that's more than most people get. so i count myself to be a very lucky girl. :goodvibes
we went back to the condo and got a good night's sleep, then got up the next morning, packed and hit the road. we left at ......

Great last installment...definitely helped get me (even more) excited for my trip next week. We will be doing lots of Christmas-y things if you want to get your fix. Check out my pre-trippie if you want...It's a little boring at the moment, but once the actual trip happens, it should be fun! I would love it if you did a pre-trippie for your next trip. Your trippies are always so entertaining and I love how you include other life things in with them...the billions of pics don't hurt either. Good luck with the baby plans too!

I am glad you were able to hold yourself together and not throw a major tantrum as you were leaving. I am sure Ray was thankful as well. :lmao:

i really need to get back there! six flags is horrible!!!!! i hate going there. now i LOVE the rides, but the park itself is disgusting and the people working there are just flat out rude. they are NEVER pleasant, at least not that i've encountered. one time when me and my brother and his girlfriend at the time were there, we were walking to the car and they had one area of the parking lot blocked off, but it was really confusing. well, we kind of walked in the wrong area (not knowing it) and the person who was working in the parking lot starts yelling at us and flagging us to go the other way, like really forcefully. it was so obnoxiously rude. so i yelled at her, "you have a great day. and your customer service skills rock." she looked at me and said, "just doing my job." so then i yelled back, "we are SO not at disney world!!!!!!" :rotfl2: i just couldn't help myself.
Oh, and we love Big Al!!!! I would love to see him taking pictures!!!!! Blood on the sadddddllllleeee!! baaaa baaaa!! lol! I am trying to mimick him singing!! haha
I am so excited! I just love Dollywood!!
Six flags used to be nice...when I worked there!! lol!!!! We were taught to be nice to the guests and to help them. I only had a couple of problems with rude guests. One I remember that was funny! I worked at Monster Plantation (water ride through a swamp..kind of like Its a Small World/Pirates/I dont' know!haha) and the water level was really high so we had to shut down the pumps and drain the water a little. Well, when the water would get high..the boats would float off the track in the first section of the house and a few of us would have to take off ours shoes and pull the boats back on the track and push them in the house. Well, I was about to do that and went to the que line to let the guests know the problem. I anticipated it to be about 20-30 minutes till it would be ready. I explained everything and he got rude. Then looked at me and said "Can you not go get the water out now and run it within 5 minutes?? Or are you not smart enough for that!" I looked at him and said, "Um, let me just got get myself a few buckets and shovel the water out that way...would that suit you or would you rather me suck it in my mouth and do it that way?!?!?!" He just looked at me!! Chad pulled me back towards the house laughing and said I needed to calm down! I was super nice all the time towards people. But there were that few who thought we needed to hand everything on a platter to them! But, we were nice back then! Not like the kids now..they are awful!!!

BooHOoo....I"m sad your report is done. I loved all of the wonderful pictures of the Christmas decorations at WDW...and the Disney on Ice. We usually go to all the ones that come through town but the one you went to is going to the town about 2 hours away...now I'm thinking it might be worth the drive. That was a ton of characters you don't normally see!
All the pictures were wonderful! If you do start a pre trip let us know....I love how you add the other fun things you do within your reports....plus I've got to see more pics of that adorable niece of yours! It helps give me a baby fix since we are all done having ours.
Thanks for sharing!

i have a feeling ray wouldn't be very happy if i had done what i felt like doing. yeah, amanda is really talented. it's good to have her as a friend because she gives me deals on taking pics. she only charged us $50 for the entire CD of pictures she gave us for my dad's christmas that year (and it was a BUNCH) and then we had them printed on our own. it was awesome!
Sorry its over, I have really enjoyed your "life" updates as well. Your christmas pictures have helped up plan our December 2010 trip, thanks!:goodvibes

i have told both ray and anna about you going and that we need to go soon. it sounds fun!
yeah, i know the monster plantation. the last time i rode it was in 2007 with my sister and some of her friends from work. one of the guys decided to get out of the boat and walk through the scenes. someone running the ride came over the loud speaker and told him to get back in the boat. i was mortified!!! i was like 31 at the time and i was there with my sister and all her early-20-something friends and the guys were acting like morons! oh, well....at least no one was hurt.
i can't believe that guy saying that to you!!!! people kill me. like acting like an :eeyore: is going to help anything in a situation like that. :confused3

Hi Dawn,
I have been a long-time lurker on the boards and I have read all of your trip reports. I loved them all. I have also enjoyed your side-trips too.
So I have a question...
My dh and I are going to be taking our 3 year old dd to see the Princess Disney on Ice show. I noticed when you went, your seats were on the side of the ice. Did you like them? Would you have preferred to sit somewhere else? Did the characters face the sides or more to the front end of the ice?
I am struggling about where to get our seats for the show so any input you have would be greatly appreciated. :goodvibes
Looking forward to reading about your 2010 trip.

sorry it took so long to get back to you! thanks for reading, by the way.
i thought our seats on the side were fine. most of the time the characters were pretty good about going around to all areas of the ice. the only time i really noticed it was when the toy story characters were out - i just felt like they faced the front more. but the other parts were fine from the side. i saw another DOI show last year and we were more towards the front but further away. i didn't notice a huge difference either way. hope that helps! :goodvibes
