Fun times at the American Girl store! We have been there several times since Chelsea and I are huge fans of all of the dolls! Sadly, I think Chelsea has finally outgrown them :(. Lamont sharing his banana split with Mia cracked me up! That strawberry shortcake looks outrageously delicious!

it was a cute little place. be glad chelsea is growing out of them....they're so expensive! although i'm sure she's picked up other expensive habits now. i guess that's what happens when they get older!

I love the AG pics! I hope I can go to one with my DGD some day. Little Megan looks just like our friends' little girl, they could be sisters! Her dad is half African American, but he looks very white. DH was best friends with him in school for quite a while before he found out. The rest of his sibs are darker. Anyway his wife is blond with brown eyes, and they have two of the most beautiful kiddos I've ever met!

I have baby news -my oldest DS and DDIL are expecting a 2nd in April! :banana:

thanks! for the fireworks pics i used the "twilight" setting on my point and shoot. but i had a tripod and that makes a world of difference. i think biracial kids are sooooooooo beautiful! melanie and lamont have a 3-year-old, maddox. he didn't come because melanie was afraid he'd destroy the store. :lmao: he's ADORABLE though. oh, and congrats, grandma! :goodvibes

Hey you! It's been a while since I was over here. I leave in less than 2 weeks so I'm trying to catch up on everything. I love the new pics of your babies! Your camera is awesome girl! I can't wait to see your next TR with that one! You are going to be taking pictures of rocks! LOL

I saw American Girl and had to look. Gabby has quite the collection of them. We started them last year. She got her first one for her birthday in October. I think the bistro looks like a blast. That's what she wants to do for her birthday this year. We'll see. She has requested the NYC location. Heaven help me. :)

By the way...Megan looks just like her daddy! I can't believe someone would ask if he is her father. She looks more like him than her mom! Love the pics of Lamont holding the doll. So cute. He looks to be having a great time! Sonali is a great choice! Love her outfit too.

I have to ask...if you could choose would you want a boy or a girl?

Thanks for the mini TR. My daughter has 3 American girl dolls. The doll clothes at WDW in the stores fit American girl doll. The princess outfits etc! Her Favorite at the moment is Kaya and she does look beautiful in the Jasmine outfit!!;)

So sorry I've been MIA for a while. Just getting all caught up. I just read the bloody nose installment, POOR LUKE! Kudo's to Anna for handling it so well, I'm sure she was riddled with disappointment for things not turning out as well as she had anticipated. HOW AWESOME for the CM's handling it that way and offering them all of that stuff, I can't believe they even replaced their t shirts. Do you think they were worried they were going to hold Disney liable for him tripping or something?
I wonder if the hot chocolate you had was the same that is served in the resorts, I always fill my refillable mug up with it, even in June, it is sooo tasty!

no problem....i've been MIA too! i need to get caught up on everyone's TRs (including yours). i'm sure disney reacting the way they did had something to do with trying to avoid liablity, although anna wouldn't have dreamed of suing them or anything. luke is a little boy and little boys trip! i guess they get sued sometimes for stuff like that. but i also think part of it was just the "disney touch". oh, i'll have to check out the hot chocolate the resorts....thanks for letting me know!

Love the Mickey gnome! We got one for my FIL for father's day and I kinda wish we would have gotten one for us too! They are so cute!

Looks like you had a great time with your friends. It looks like a fun store! I have never been to one but I'm sure I will be checking it out in the future. ;)

What an adorable family they are! And Megan is beautiful. Her parents are going to have their hands full when she gets into high school because the boys are going to love her! That looks like such a fun day for you. I have to admit that I had never heard of AG before (I have a son) and it looks cute, but I'm glad I have a boy because that sounds so expensive!

:goodvibesI love American Girl.....I have had mine since like 1989....that was way before they had the store. I started reading the books when I was little and you could send in a card to get a catalog of dolls of the girls you were reading about! It has very much expanded since then. There were only 3 dolls and not very much of the clothing/accessories they have now! I can't wait until I can take Amelia to AG to pick out her own doll! I didn't know there was one is Atlanta.....:rolleyes1maybe we can stop there on our drive to Disney in December!

yeah, they're not cheap. melanie bought her one for christmas but refused to buy her another one because of the price. so megan saved up her own money, which is why they surprised her with a trip to the store to buy it. i think megan is so pretty too! they have a 3yo DS named maddox who is SO cute!

The doll sitting in the highchair reminds me of a story when I was about 5 or 6. My mom dad and I went to a really nice restaurant and I brought this huge stuffed Mickey Mouse (of course :rotfl2) everywhere. So I had to bring him with me. Well when we got there the waitress made a huge deal about Mickey. She brought him a highchair and then when we got our food she brought him a piece of cheese. I thought this was the coolest thing ever.

AG is so cute. Macey is not interested in dolls at all at this point. She loves animals! I have a million stuffed and tiny plastic animals all over my house.!
I always wanted an American Girl doll growing up,but for some reason I don't think I ever asked for one.

well, thanks...i'm still learning though! i know the reason you never asked for one....THEY'RE TOO EXPENSIVE! :rotfl: i think they most my mom ever spent on a doll for me was for a cabbage patch kid and what are those....30 bucks? megan's aunt sarah (melanie's sister and a good friend of mine too - she sang at our wedding) is a hair stylist and cuts megan's hair. whenever i'm in nashville and need a haircut i always go to her. i have a girl here who i love but i always like to let sarah cut it too. she always does a good job!

So glad I found your TR. I just made reservations today for the exact same time you were there last year. Thanks so much for sharing. It sure look crowded. I had been hoping for low crowds but it looked to be about the same as when we were there last Aug. Disappointing but better to plan for it now then be surprised when I get there. I can't wait to see all those holiday decorations myself. :thumbsup2

how exciting! :yay: hopefully i can finish this thing before you leave. :lmao: it was crowded at DHS that friday and at MK that saturday (but it WAS a saturday!), but other than that it wasn't bad. more crowded than when i've been in late april/early may or in september, but nothing i couldn't deal with.

the only hiccup we had was that some kid passed out ON TOP of me. he was really tall and almost knocked me down when he fell. we helped him up and anna got him to a security person. i don't know if he was drunk or on something but i felt bad for him. we kept asking where his friends were and he said he was there alone, which i totally don't believe - i'm sure he just didn't want to get his friends in trouble. we kept telling him we didn't want to get anyone in trouble but just to get him to his friends but then the security guy came over and took him out of the crowd. i hope he was okay!

I've been away...just got caught up.... I love American Girl dolls but my oldest hasn't asked for one yet and I am hesitant to push the issue. I know if I showed her everything she would go nuts but it's so expensive!! It's two sided as I don 't want to get her addicted but if I have to play dolls with her anyway I'd love to play with the American Girl dolls! ;)

Oh by the way...tell Ray just not thinking about having a girl does not work! With our second one I thought I was having a boy for sure...the pregnancy was different...the way the baby moved and behaved was different and I chanted BOY BOY BOY....ummm yep we got a girl... she's a TOMBOY at heart so maybe something worked. (eventhough I chanted BOY BOY...I LOVE my GIRL!!! In many ways it's much easier having 2 girls so "someone" knew what they were doing by giving us our two girls!) I know you guys will be happy either way no matter which sex you get....it's awesome either way!

I saw your update very quickly at school today, but of course I could not see the pictures. It looks like the Tonga toast turned out really good!

Give the backyard camping another try in about a month and it should be very nice. That was a fun thing to do just because. :thumbsup2

Back to AL tomorrow for Brooklynn's Nemo party with friends. This girl has definitely milked this 3 year old thing for all it is worth!

I read your trip report and the funny thing is maybe we seen each other...with out knowing, of course:scared1:. My family and I were down there at the same time you were last yearpixiedust:.

I loved the pictures of anna's boy...him dancing:dancer:...him excited:woohoo:...him overwhelmed with glee:jumping1:. They were very fun pics to look through and since our next trip isn't until October it was fun to live through them. I have a son that is 4 too so I understand how accidents can and will happen:duck:. When you said that Anna lost it...so did I:guilty:. I hope he is okay...I want to say his name is Luke but I can't remember for sure. His nose sure looked broken:headache:. I hope you all stayed with the news that it wasn't...poor baby:littleangel:.

I've been away...just got caught up.... I love American Girl dolls but my oldest hasn't asked for one yet and I am hesitant to push the issue. I know if I showed her everything she would go nuts but it's so expensive!! It's two sided as I don 't want to get her addicted but if I have to play dolls with her anyway I'd love to play with the American Girl dolls! ;)

Oh by the way...tell Ray just not thinking about having a girl does not work! With our second one I thought I was having a boy for sure...the pregnancy was different...the way the baby moved and behaved was different and I chanted BOY BOY BOY....ummm yep we got a girl... she's a TOMBOY at heart so maybe something worked. (eventhough I chanted BOY BOY...I LOVE my GIRL!!! In many ways it's much easier having 2 girls so "someone" knew what they were doing by giving us our two girls!) I know you guys will be happy either way no matter which sex you get....it's awesome either way!

the american girl dolls are so cute but they are so expensive! i would put it off as long as possible. i will pass that info along to ray. i've heard so many crazy things about how to get one sex or the other. it's so funny!

They were very fun pics to look through and since our next trip isn't until October it was fun to live through them. I have a son that is 4 too so I understand how accidents can and will happen:duck:. When you said that Anna lost it...so did I:guilty:. I hope he is okay...I want to say his name is Luke but I can't remember for sure. His nose sure looked broken:headache:. I hope you all stayed with the news that it wasn't...poor baby:littleangel:.

i've finally made my way through your entire report until this point!:woohoo: it's been awesome! it's amazing how many ups and downs there can be in someone's life over the course of a year, reading about them all compressed like this really shows it well. my prayers go out to you for the loss of Lucy (we have a beagle, Roxy, as well as a pomeranian, Trixie, who are always keeping things interesting:rotfl:) and for things to be resolved in the best way possible with your brother's family and anything else i may be forgetting:hug:. so far it looks like you guys had a fabulous time in the world and i can't wait to see more. we're planning a trip for dec 2010 and have been pondering mvmcp and i think your description sold me on it. also, anna has some serious looking arms! that girl must be working out, hardcore. we're moving in a month and i plan to increase my workout routine after that. here's hoping to killer arms like that within the next year:cheer2: i think you and your husband and the cutest couple, too, and i can't wait to see your future babies! from one disney lovin girl who's missing out on WDW in 2009 (is it weird that i don't think going to DLR counts, since i live so close and go often?) to another, thanks for the great TR!:)

The Christmas pictures are great. You are looking quite festive in your hat and light up jewelry. Brooklynn got that necklace last year and loved it.

We're focused on our October trip right now, so I've been looking at MNSSHP stuff on youtube. I'm saving watching your videos for when we get back from that trip, because then we'll be starting the countdown to the December trip. It'll be so fun to see the castle all lit up again. I love every different holiday at Disney World!

Poor Luke - The first couple of pictures didn't look too bad (from a mom's point of view) until I just saw the last one where you meet them after it happened - he's all black and blue too! Poor Baby - I totally understand my DS8 just got hurt a couple of weeks ago at the playground. He was looking behind him to see if the kid he was playing tag with was after him and when he turned around he ran into a metal bar that was the railing of the stairs to the slide (OUCH) I had to take him to the ER and he ended up getting four stitches in his eyebrow and he was such a big boy didn't even flick an eyelash when he got the novacaine shot (I would have cried). Tell Anna I totally understand why later she broke down (((HUG))

Poor Luke - The first couple of pictures didn't look too bad (from a mom's point of view) until I just saw the last one where you meet them after it happened - he's all black and blue too! Poor Baby - I totally understand my DS8 just got hurt a couple of weeks ago at the playground. He was looking behind him to see if the kid he was playing tag with was after him and when he turned around he ran into a metal bar that was the railing of the stairs to the slide (OUCH) I had to take him to the ER and he ended up getting four stitches in his eyebrow and he was such a big boy didn't even flick an eyelash when he got the novacaine shot (I would have cried). Tell Anna I totally understand why later she broke down (((HUG))

hey, everyone! okay....3 things before i continue with my TR!

1. i have blonder hair.....

2. this will be the last update until after we get back from savannah. we are going the first weekend in october and i know i'll want to share pictures and after this TR is over, i won't have a place to share them.....OH, THE HORROR!!!! :scared1: i only have 1 more installment after this one so i want to save that until after we get back from our trip to savannah so the TR won't close until then. plus i'm going to see margot this weekend so i'll want to share those too. :goodvibes

3. so i've already begun planning our december 2010 trip....yes, i'm insane!!! anyway, we are planning a very loosely-planned trip, if that makes sense. we hopefully will have a little one with us and i don't want to commit to much, just sort of do what we want to do when we want to do it. of course i will have to make ADRs in advance so that will set our schedules a little bit. and some events i know i want to attend, such as MK EMH and AK EMH. i'm going off this year's hours because they usually tend to be similar. of course all this is going to change who-knows-how-many times before i make my reservations! :laughing:

oh, and we're playing with the idea of doing the deluxe DDP that trip. we both want to try some of the 2 TS restaurants and we figure this is the time to do it. if we have a baby with us, no big deal to take a fussy baby out of a restaurant for a few minutes, right? but a grumpy toddler is a different story. so we figure we might as well take advantage of the fancier places while we can.

like i said, all very tentative since i'm....um.....over 400 days away from our trip!!!! :lmao:

when i last TR'ed we had just finished watching the "celebrate the season" show in front of the castle and were on our way to our VIP seats for the parade.

many of you asked where these super secret VIP seats are located so that you may find them on your upcoming trips. well, let me just say that you can sit there.....if you fall at cosmic ray's and bust your nose and lip!!!! :rotfl2: we got these seats because of luke's fall. the CMs had told anna to be at the liberty square bridge at 10:20 for the 10:30 parade. she had asked if we could join them and they said it was no problem.

we got over there and saw anna and chris right away. they were checking in with the CM. so we joined them and the CM led us to a seating area that was roped off on the left side of the bridge if you're facing the castle. there were about 3 rows of about 8 seats in this area. we got in the front row. :thumbsup2

i have a feeling that the guys that were sitting to the left of ray (who was the first person in our party as the parade heads down the road) were either CMs or friends of CMs or very "close" friends of CMs. ;) they were getting LOTS of attention from a lot of the characters and performers and it made for a fun parade.

i liked sitting here because there wasn't a crowd across the street so most of the characters looked our way. plus the castle was in the background from some of the pictures! :goodvibes

also, there was a CM standing across the bridge who apparently was there to do any wardrobe adjustments for the characters. if you think about it, this is sort of a halfway point for the parade so maybe that's why he's there.

anyway, on to the show.....

Even from your pix it looks like Cinderella and Prince Charming are actually a couple. I wonder if it's true....

We have a woman from church who retired early and now works for Disneyland working with the Electrical Parade. She loves it and sometimes gets to drive the floats!

I love all the parade pics - that parade music gets in my head and I can't get it out for days!

There is nothing wrong with planning this far ahead...plus you may be busy in the next 400 days getting ready for the baby and actually getting into a routine with a new baby (if all goes as planned)! I'm due with my first baby in 3 weeks and we are trying to figure out when we'll go back. We're thinking maybe Dec 2010 too, and we would stay at VWL since we own DVC there. Maybe I'll see you if we end up going that week! My main concern is bringing a young child on a plane, we live in Massachusetts so it would be about a 24 hour drive, so plane it is! Anyway, you'll love VWL at Christmas time!

Second, I am planning a trip for Dec 2010, too.:banana:Maybe we'll bump into each other. I think it's funny that so many people sound like they're crazy to be planning this far in advance because I have been planning my trip for months already and I am kinda feeling like a slacker for not having booked it yet! :rotfl:We were planning to go during the week of Christmas, but after having been during the offseason before, we don't really want to battle the crowds and pay more for it. So now we're trying to plan to go around dec 10- 20, but my sister in law will be 17 and still in school at that time and my in-laws are planning to come with us. So I either need to convince them to let her miss some school or we'll have to compromise on our dates some. We're also planning to spend some time at Universal (it'll be our first time at Universal Orlando) and check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,:wizard: which is slated to open summer 2010. I'm wondering if anyone else is planning to check that out during their trips.

Third, your parade spot looks perfect and the pictures were amazing! Too bad Luke missed it all, but I'm sure he was worn out and needed the rest.

Have fun in Savannah and can't wait to see those pics. I love the beauty of the south (the west is nice, but everything is so new incomparison, we don't have much classical beauty :sad2:)

Loved the parade pics. We got to see it last year and I am just dying to get back after seeing those. Disney at Christmas was beyond wonderful to me. I love Christmas and when you add the magic of Disney to it, it is something really wonderful. When we arrived at MK last year, we walked onto Main Street (first time for all of us) and the street was decorated and Christmas music was playing. We hopped onto the trolley and a quartet was singing carols acapella in the back along with the clicking of the horses hooves and a chill in the air.............I'm telling you, it was all I could do not to start blubbering. It was just one of those moments I will never forget. Your pictures took me right back to that feeling! So I'm sitting here watching the videos and getting teary eyed thinking about it and my husband informs me that I am a complete nerd! I just can't help it!:santa:

That's really too bad that Luke fell asleep and didn't get to see all the Christmas stuff though, especially Santa. I guess that just means that you all need to go back again! Sounds like a good excuse to me anyway!;)

Jill and I were thinking of doing a day trip for a Saturday two o'clock showing. When are all the GA people going? We might meet up with you guys, if it works out!

That Christmas show I cannot say just one thing. It was all so wonderful. Tell Anna if Cinderella waved to me I would have cried! It's that little girl in all of us I think. Poor Luke had a rough night!

it was a really cool parade! the only one that tops it for me is the boo-to-you parade and that's just because i love the villians! ;) i seriously doubt it about cinderella and prince charming....did you see how he was waving at the guys next to us? :laughing: yes, 2 years is a long time. it's been 9 months now and i'm dealing well with it. hopefully we will have some baby-making luck and then the time will fly by!

:goodvibesDon't worry I started planning my 2009 December trip about this time last year. I totally agree with taking a screaming toddler to restraunts. There is no reasoning with them at that age. It's funny Dave and I are happy now when we are seated next to a family at a restraunt and their kid is being bad and not ours!:lmao: Hopefully at Disney it will be the norm and we won't feel too bad about our screaming kid.

thanks! so cool that you're planning on coming then too. i just saw the update on the wizarding world of harry potter and i'm intrigued! i'm actually reading the books now (i know i'm behind - i just didn't have an interest in them and a good friend finally convinced me to read them. i'm on "the chamber of secrets" right now.) and i really want to go someday. i don't think it will be 2010 though because if we have a baby it may not be worth it. i know universal has a lot of thrill rides and i'd rather go when my kid can ride those things, too. i can't wait to get to savannah....we need some beach time! we're actually staying out on tybee island which is 20 minutes from savannah but we'll be going to savannah a good bit. it's such a pretty city!

cool! i really have wanted to see it for awhile now. we looked at it when we went to NYC but it was one of the more expensive shows so we went with wicked (which was wonderful).

after dinner we went to meet jordan to drop off margot and she fell asleep on the way. a big day for her! then we went to a karaoke bar after that. it was an experience. there was one guy there that had on cowboy boots with cut-off denim shorts, a shirt that said "rebel" on the back and a big cowboy hat. i tried to get a picture of him but it wouldn't turn out without the flash.

we headed back home on sunday and that was my weekend. margot was so sweet and i'm so glad i got to spend some time with her. while we were waiting for our table at PF chang's she just sat in my lap and looked around and then when i'd play with her she'd make this little screaming noise that was so cute! and it was so nice to see some old friends from school and to see memom, jill, erica, brooklynn and bella! and of course it was fun being with erin all weekend, too. good company all around! :grouphug:

we are going to rock city this saturday if the weather holds out so i'll hopefully have some cool pictures to share from that!

thanks! so cool that you're planning on coming then too. i just saw the update on the wizarding world of harry potter and i'm intrigued! i'm actually reading the books now (i know i'm behind - i just didn't have an interest in them and a good friend finally convinced me to read them. i'm on "the chamber of secrets" right now.) and i really want to go someday. i don't think it will be 2010 though because if we have a baby it may not be worth it. i know universal has a lot of thrill rides and i'd rather go when my kid can ride those things, too. i can't wait to get to savannah....we need some beach time! we're actually staying out on tybee island which is 20 minutes from savannah but we'll be going to savannah a good bit. it's such a pretty city!

I understand about not being interested in harry potter before. my husband randomly decided to start reading them this past summer and we got through all of them in about 2 months between the two of us! Between those and the Twilight series, I don't think I've read so much, so quickly ever. They're all really entertaining though, and I am psyched to see the wizarding world. We don't have kids yet, we're just going to let things happen I guess, but I figure I can go and I can always come back with my children when the time is right.

hey, everyone! just checking in to say hello and sorry it's taken me so long to do responses. i'm doing a doozie of a jury trial this week. it's a child molestation trial and those are always just horrible, even if the defendant is not guilty. the attorneys are estimating we'll be done next monday but i'm thinking more like next wednesday (as in a week from tomorrow) so i'm in for a long week! i will be SO READY to leave for savannah/tybee island thursday night!!! anyway, if i'm reading your TR i promise that one day i will catch up. even if it's not until christmas time!!! sorry i'm so behind....I MISS YOU GUYS! :grouphug:

i always tell people who ask me how i like my job that it makes me appreciate having a boring life! :rotfl: usually i'm pretty open-minded when it comes to things i hear in court and i try to give people the benefit of the doubt. but i'm pretty sure this guy needs to be put away for a very long time. i'm nervous for the victims' families if he's not. and yes, i'm very excited about savannah. i just hope we get some good weather!

hello, everyone! i've finally gotten a few minutes to sit down and share our pictures from last weekends trip to lookout mountain. believe it or not, i've never been to either ruby falls or rock city....and i grew up in tennessee! anyway, hope you enjoy!

this was last saturday (9/19) and it was VERY rainy here. the rain we drove through to get to chattanooga that day is actually part of the rain that flooded parts of atlanta. it was brutal!

we go to lookout mountain around 11:00 and it was still raining, so we decided to go to ruby falls first since it's inside.

after we came out of the cave, we were all hungry so we got some sandwiches from the little cafe there. we had to sit outside and luckily there was a covered area because it was still kinda drizzly. here's the view from the deck....

while we were eating the sun started peaking through the clouds, so we decided to head onward to rock city. it's mostly outside so we didn't want to do it in the pouring rain, but it looked like the rain was going to subside for a little while! :woohoo:

Dawn enjoyed this update. It brings back so many memories. I had been to Ruby Falls and Rock City as a child. When I got married 27 years ago this is where we went on our Honeymoon.Ha!! What can I say we were broke, so Disney was out of reach. I have all those same pics from our honeymoon and also when we took our kids a few years later. I agree with you about fairytale village it's kind of like a bad fairytale nightmare. It creeped me out too.

Thanks for the update and hope to hear about your trip tp Savannah. I've never been there.

I don't think I would do well in the caves either....I wish I would because it looks so pretty! My husband's brother goes in unmapped caves FOR FUN! He crawles on his belly and all of that stuff....sleeps in caves. He is a teacher so during his summers off he maps out caves for someone in the area. I get freaked out everytime he talks about it.

The one thing I remember is my cousin Jaime threw a coin into one of the pieces of water in there (pretty early on) and her wish was just to get her out of there and she would NEVER come back!! :laughing: I will never forget that it was hilarious!! As a kid I remember liking it but I can see how it would be kind of creepy :rotfl:

It's been forever since I've been to Rock City, but I would like to go back. Mel and I are going to Chattanooga on the 10th but I'm not sure what all we will be doing.

Dan, I would assume the mountain you remember actually driving over is Monteagle Mt. (about halfway between Nashville & Chatt.) & I'm sure you have seen signs for Lookout Mt. when driving through Chattanooga. But Monteagle is much more impressive driving 'over', the interstate through Chattanooga it's self is pretty flat, with beautiful scenery around it :goodvibes. But I just LOVE east TN....that is why I MUST get out to the Rocky Mt's someday!!! :thumbsup2

cool! ray and i had a local honeymoon, too. we were supposed to go to disney (neither of us had been in over 10 years), but he got a new job about a month before we got married and didn't have a week's worth of vacation time. so we just had a long weekend in savannah (the first time we had been there and we've been going back ever since!). it was okay though - we took the money we had saved for disney and splurged on a bed and breakfast while we were there!

so we are leaving for savannah today. :woohoo: i'm SO READY for the beach!!! we both are. the jury is STILL out on that case i started almost 2 weeks ago. they've been deliberating since tuesday afternoon. but my boss is in court for me today because ray and i are going to try to leave by around 2:00 to beat atlanta traffic. oh, and believe it or not, when i get back i won't have a pile of work waiting on me! i have a few transcripts i've gotta work on but nothing pressing like i've had constantly for the last 3 months. so i can actually catch up on some of your TRs! i've missed you guys....can't wait to get back in the loop. i hope everyone has a nice weekend! :goodvibes

Since you are getting close to finishing this report, I wanted to take a step out of lurkdom and tell you how much I have enjoyed all of your trip reports! I actually feel more like a stalker since I have been following all of your adventures for over a year now without revealing myself and yet I feel I know you so well! LOL I used many of your ideas for our trip this past March…so thanks!! (Including the flat people) My husband is as anti-Disney as I am a Disney fanatic (I get a lot of eye rolling from him!) and he absolutely refuses to go to Disney World. My kids loved the idea of “forcing” him into enjoying the trip by taking him along as a flat person! He smiled the entire time! So, thanks for a fun ride and hopefully you will be able to do a pre-trip report for next December if you aren’t too busy with the future baby!!;)

Can you believe Savannah trumps Disney in my house for a calendar?
Savannah is my favorite place. Did you do a ghost tour? Did you hear how many people go to Savannah Halloween weekend? Someone told me over 3 million visitors come in that weekend, that is insane.

okay, let's try this one more time!

by the way, for those of you wondering, the defendant in that child molestation case was convicted by the jury and the judge sentenced him to 50 years. i usually try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this guy needed to be put away. i was very relieved to get that verdict.

we actually got back from savannah/tybee island on monday but yesterday was the first time i got time to sit down and update. and as you know, i lost most of it!

before i get to our little trip, i thought i'd share what i did tuesday afternoon. disney is releasing "a christmas carol" next month and they are doing a train tour across america - and it's free! on tuesday the train was in duluth, a town just north of atlanta and about 30 minutes south of me. i had a hearing at 1:00 that afternoon so i didn't think i'd get to go. well, luke is on fall break this week and anna was taking him. she texted me around 1:55 and said they just got there and that the wait to get on the train was 90 minutes. i told her we were almost done with our hearing and if i drove down there, could i get in line with her? she said no problem, so score for me! :thumbsup2 i ran home after the hearing to get my camera and got there around 3:15. anna and luke were at the front of the line when i got there. :yay:

before i post the next picture, i have to explain. they let people on the train in groups. from what i could see, they'd let a group of people on and would wait until that group was through the first car of the train before they'd let the next group on. we were the last 3 people in our group. well, when we got through the first car and were waiting to enter into the next car, suddenly the people that were first in the group after us appeared right behind us. they must have RAN through the first car and not looked at anything because they were right there immediately. THEN when we get into the next car they start kind of going beside and eventually around us. i don't know what they were doing! the woman looked at me at one point and i said, "no, go right ahead. you're obviously in a hurry." what purpose did that serve???? now they were right in front of us. i have no clue what their issue was. but of course i took a picture of them. :lmao:

after that fiasco we decided to go watch the 3D movie they had going in this big blow-up looking thing. when i first saw it i thought it was one of those bouncy things for kids. but it was actually a movie theater. this was the only picture i got of it so you can't really see the full thing.

the movie was REALLY cool! there were interviews with some of the actors and they showed a few scenes, all of which looked really awesome. i can't wait to see it! it's gonna be great, so go see it for sure! :thumbsup2

i will try to get started on our little savannah mini trip and then finish this sucker up soon! oh, and i'm going to disney on ice with heather next weekend, so i will have pictures from that too! :dance3:

That line is INSANE! I had thought about going, but ended up having a bridal shower for a work colleague that afternoon. I never would have been patient enough to stand in line, but everything about the movie looks super cool! I actually teach A Christmas Carol in the seventh grade, so that will be a nice tie-in to it!

Can you believe Savannah trumps Disney in my house for a calendar?
Savannah is my favorite place. Did you do a ghost tour? Did you hear how many people go to Savannah Halloween weekend? Someone told me over 3 million visitors come in that weekend, that is insane.

thanks! i know - i can't believe it came nowhere near nashville. my friend melanie asked if it did because maddox, her 3yo DS, loves trains. i think you're right about the trip - i will be okay! but if i don't get preggo soon ray and i will have to rearrange our trip plans!!! i figure my deadline for having a baby and still going to disney in december is early september. after that, i think it would be too soon. and i don't want to go 6-plus months pregnant. so basically my blackout dates for disney in december are if i get pregnant from december through june. that's not to say that we can't rearrange things and go another time. i'd really love to go during F&W festival. we will see what happens!

so i will start on our little jaunt to savannah and tybee island and hopefully get through the first half of our first day.

we left thursday around 3:30 and stopped on the way down for dinner at chick-fil-a somewhere around macon. i think we got to the house around 8:30, so we made decent time. it usually takes a little over 4 hours.

we had gotten a beach house 2 blocks from the beach on tybee island for $400 for 4 nights - pretty good deal! that included pet and cleaning fees, everything!

i actually took these the next morning, but here's our little beach house, the banana cabana.....

i set my alarm for 7:30 the next morning so that i could get up and go to paula deen's restaurant, the lady and sons, to get a reservation for that night. i let ray sleep in. the way it works, she doesn't take reservations for small parties. so the hostess stand opens at 9:30 and you go then to tell them what time you''re coming back and they tell you what they have open and that way you don't have to wait a long time when you come back - you have sort of a reserved time. it's a 20-minute drive from tybee island to downtown savannah, so i left around 8:30.

i couldn't resist going by the beach on the way. we hadn't seen it the night before because it was dark, so instead of taking a left to head out to savannah i took a right and just parked near the beach and walked down to where the sand started. it was so pretty that morning!

i got to savannah and found a parking place right on congress street, where the restaurant is. although i had to SQUEEZE :crowded: in on the street. my parallel parking skills came in handy!

finally it was beach time! :woohoo: we decided to grab lunch at arby's (pretty much the only fast food besides subway on the island) and eat lunch on the beach. we got a spot pretty close to the pier and got settled in. isn't it pretty?

okay, so this is where the bird drama happened. as you all probably know, i'm terrified of birds. i'm good with snakes, spiders, frogs, anything else. but not birds. i was attacked by a mama blue jay when i was 9 and she left scratches on my head. it was VERY scary! ever since then i just don't deal well with birds.

one or two, i'm okay. i can deal. but a flock is not a good thing for me. so when we were done eating, i took our bag of trash and headed towards the trash cans back at the dunes. well, about 20 seconds after i started walking away from the beach, ray said to me, "dawn, look," and i turn around and there is a FLOCK of seagulls (no, not the band) chasing after me. i mean like LITERALLY RIGHT BEHIND ME......:scared1::scared1::scared1: it scared me TO DEATH!!! i screamed something like, "ray, save me," (seriously) and dropped the bag and just walked in the other direction. it was like my brain stopped working and i turned into a 2 year old. i was crying, for real, like real tears coming down my face. i had sunglasses on so no one saw, not even ray. he came and got the bag and threw it away. by the time he got back to our chairs i had calmed down a little, but i was still really shaken up. he asked if i was okay and i told him no and then he realized i had been crying. he laughed but it wasn't mean....it made me laugh too. i felt like an idiot but it really did scare me. BIRDS ARE EVIL, I TELL YOU!!!!

so anyway, after i calmed down, we enjoyed the rest of our day on the beach. it was beautiful out - not too hot - and the beach wasn't crowded at all. these people were standing on surfboards and paddling around. it looked really fun but i'd totally fall.....

this is the day i said i'd be a pelican if i could be any bird. the reason i said that is because we sat there for hours just watching the pelicans. they just sit on the waves all day and then, every few minutes, fly up to take a look at things, dive down for a fish and then start all over again. they don't go bug the humans for food like the seagulls do. they just have really cool lives!

i can't remember what time we headed back to the house but i'm thinking it was around 3:30 or so. we decided to take the boys to one of the back beaches for a few minuetes. pets on the beach is a big no-no at tybee so we were gonna try to be sneaky. sherman had seen the beach before, but eli never had. so we found a good, discreet spot and headed that way.

just as they got to the water, i look to my left and see 2 beach patrol vehicles coming around the corner. i yelled to ray and we both started heading back towards the car. i figured they'd catch up to us and give us a ticket, but they never did. so the boys didn't get to the water that day. don't worry - we try later on in the trip! i have some of it on tape and will try to upload it for the next installment.

after that we went home and cleaned up so we could go to dinner at the lady and sons and to oktoberfest on river street that night. so that's coming up next installment!

What a great start to your weekend (well, except for that mean flock of seagulls chasing you :hug:)! Your little beach house on Tybee is darling, and I am right there with ya about the Spanish Moss -- it's one of my favorite things in the world (since I grew up in Charleston, it also screams home to me). Score on the Lady and Sons reservation -- do you know that Paula and Jamie Deen were both at Disney to do a lunch thing at the Food and Wine that weekend? The beach looks heavenly! So relaxing!

I'm so proud of your seagull pictures, too. They are so clear.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. We plan to go to The Lady & Sons whenever we do go, so it's nice to know how it works. I bet the Oktoberfest stuff is cool, too, so I can't wait to see those pictures, as well.

Loved the update! Great pictures! We had planned to stop in Savannah last year on our way home from Disney (we went right through it on I-95) but we were so exhausted after Disney that we just kept going. I had a trolley tour planned for us to do and everything, but we just couldn't do it. I can't wait to go there though. I love fall festivals, so the Oktoberfest sounds great. I can't believe you have to go check in that early for her restaurant!:scared1: They really should let you call in! I've heard mixed reviews on her place. Some loved it and others said it just wasn't what they expected. Can't wait to hear your view on it. I've enjoyed all of your non Disney travel this year. You better squeeze in all you can b/c once you have a baby, it won't happen as often. So where are you headed off to next?

i think it's gorgeous! we always try to take them when we go to savannah because it's not a very long drive for us. i wish the dogs could've been with us on the beach when the seagulls were chasing me. they could've protected me! oh, and believe it or not, i can't stand fried chicken. it's really just meat on a bone that i can't deal with. it's very strange because i'm southern and most southerners love fried chicken!

What a great start to your weekend (well, except for that mean flock of seagulls chasing you :hug:)! Your little beach house on Tybee is darling, and I am right there with ya about the Spanish Moss -- it's one of my favorite things in the world (since I grew up in Charleston, it also screams home to me). Score on the Lady and Sons reservation -- do you know that Paula and Jamie Deen were both at Disney to do a lunch thing at the Food and Wine that weekend? The beach looks heavenly! So relaxing!

i've never been to charleston but i would love to go. i've heard it's similar to savannah so i'm sure i'd love it. we were gonna go one weekend but ray's mom found a great deal on a dining room set and it was either that or the trip, so we were sensible and chose the dining room set. it stinks to be a grown up sometimes! :laughing: very cool that they were at the F&W festival! and yes, the beach was sooooo relaxing....just what we needed!

Great pictures, Dawn! We are going to do a Savannah trip someday. Jill and I have talked about it before.

I'm so proud of your seagull pictures, too. They are so clear.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. We plan to go to The Lady & Sons whenever we do go, so it's nice to know how it works. I bet the Oktoberfest stuff is cool, too, so I can't wait to see those pictures, as well.

Loved the update! Great pictures! We had planned to stop in Savannah last year on our way home from Disney (we went right through it on I-95) but we were so exhausted after Disney that we just kept going. I had a trolley tour planned for us to do and everything, but we just couldn't do it. I can't wait to go there though. I love fall festivals, so the Oktoberfest sounds great. I can't believe you have to go check in that early for her restaurant!:scared1: They really should let you call in! I've heard mixed reviews on her place. Some loved it and others said it just wasn't what they expected. Can't wait to hear your view on it. I've enjoyed all of your non Disney travel this year. You better squeeze in all you can b/c once you have a baby, it won't happen as often. So where are you headed off to next?

oh, i totally understand. i love disney world but when i get done i need a vacation to recover from my vacation! i don't mind going in early to check in at the lady and sons. it beats getting there for dinner and having to wait 2 hours for a table! plus it's nice to see everything early in the morning since we generally are not early birds and sleep in. we go to eat there every trip, so we are used to it anyway! thanks about my trips. most of them have been to nashville because that's where my family is and those don't cost me anything but the gas money. this was my only real vacation this year besides NYC with my sister and anna. ray hadn't been anywhere and we both wanted some beach time, so savannah/tybee island it was! we did go to the mountains in april for our anniversary but that was only like 2 nights. it helps to have little trips in between the big disney trips!

The train looks great but wow what a queue, lucky you that Anna did the queuing for you :rotfl:

:eek: i really can't stand winter. i take that back. i like it through new year's, then i'm ready for spring. january and february (and sometimes march) are the worst! i don't mind the fall but this year it's been SO RAINY here! it's rained every day this week so far. it's depressing! and yes, the beach was just what we needed.

The Christmas Carol train looks SO great! I missed it when it came though Oklahoma. We saw the trailer before Toy Story 1 & 2 this past weekend, though! :thumbsup2 And it looks like a great day at the beach! I'm excited to hear how you like Paula Dean's restaurant!!

i think it's the antique-i-ness plus the black lights added to it that just don't jive. it's very strange. the beach was so nice! wish i was there right now. it's been so rainy here! i can't wait for that movie - it looks so good! and yes, that santa was creepy. it could very well be the same guy!!!

yes, paula deen is TOTALLY calorie-free. :rolleyes1 and the reason i have so many bird pictures is because i have a great lens!

it really is a pretty place. i don't know if you've ever read or watched, "midnight in the garden of good and evil," but i suggest you do before you go. it will give you a sense of the culture of the city. i actually went to a bar luncheon when i was a paralegal where don samuel was the speaker. he's an attorney in atlanta and assisted sonny seiler with the case defending jim williams (the case was tried 4 times and he worked on the last 3 trials), who is the main character in the book, played by kevin spacey in the movie. his presentation that day was centered around that case and it was really interesting. this was around 2000 and he was defending ray lewis at the time and at the end of his presentation he said in a very low voice as he walked away, "ray lewis is innocent." everyone laughed. i however have always thought that it's a shame that a murderer is making millions in the NFL. :rolleyes:

okay, so anyway, on to our savannah trip. this is video i took as we were taking the boys out on the beach that first day. please excuse the camera work - i was trying to take video and pictures AND hold the pooper scooper at the same time. at the end you hear me say, "ray!" that's when i saw the beach patrol officers and we had to leave.

savannah has gorgeous squares all over the city and this is one we had to walk through on the way to the restaurant. if you've seen "forrest gump" (who hasn't???) the scene throughout the movie where he's waiting on the bus and basically telling the story of his life was filmed in chippewa square.

we both ordered sweet tea. i normally drink water with meals but her sweet tea is SO GOOD i can't resist. and the mint leaf in it just brings it home. by the way, the food pictures may be a bit blurry. i didn't use flash as not to be obnoxious with my food porn.

everything was wonderful. the low country boil had a little too much bay leaf taste for me but it was still good. the mashed potatoes and the green beans are TO DIE FOR.

i forgot to take pictures of our second plates. i think i got seconds of the mashed potatoes and green beans and tried some candied yams. ray got a pork chop thing covered in gravy and just about died over it. he made me taste it but i'm not much of a white gravy person. he still talks about that pork chop!

after you finish with the buffet your server brings you the dessert tray where there's usually 3 selections. this time we had banana pudding, peach cobbler and blondies. we asked our server to take a picture for us after we had chosen our desserts and he sat the tray down on our table, so it looks like we're eating a whole tray of desserts! :laughing:

you can kind of see all the white booths across the street on the river side. it was oktoberfest that weekend, which basically means lots of local vendors, live music and lots of food.

our first stop was wet willie's. this place has the best frozen drinks around. i got a white russian and ray got something called an attitude improvement.

i took about 2 sips of my drink and stopped. i think with the combination of ALL that food in my belly, plus the sugar from the drink, plus the smell of all the sauerkraut, sausage and other various fattening foods there, i felt SO SICK!!! i mean, i thought i was gonna spew everywhere. we sat down for a little while and i felt better in about 30 minutes. but i think i literally turned green for a minute there. ray finished my drink. :rolleyes: so no, dan, we didn't get any of that sauerkraut and sausage....we were too full of paula's cooking!

one of the coolest things about river street are the GINORMOUS boats that come by carrying items to be shipped to china and elsewhere. they are so huge. and what's funny is that most of them are full of foreign sailors and they BLAST american music as the go by river street and wave to everyone. it's really cool!

we walked around and checked out all the booths. they had some pretty cool stuff. we got an ashtray for our back porch made out of a melted wine bottle. i like looking at all of the art displayed by local artists.

one big disappointment this year was no raku!!! :sad2: in the past when we've been for oktoberfest there has been a raku booth. raku is where you take pottery that's already made, just not painted, paint it yourself and then they bake it at high temperatures. the paints you use all blend together and make really pretty designs. it's neat to see how they turn out! i had brought around $200 to spend on christmas presents for my family and friends at that booth, but it wasn't there this year. :confused3 you can get a pretty big vase or bowl for like $15 - something like that at pier one would cost you 50 bucks! i was crushed that the booth wasn't there this year.

we went into one candy store that had pistachio gelato.....yum!!! i really wanted some but i just couldn't put anything else in my stomach that night. i knew we'd be back the next day so i waited in line and asked the lady working at the gelato counter if they always had pistachio gelato. she said usually. and i said, "good, because i just can't eat any tonight but i wanted to make sure you had some when i came back tomorrow." for some reason the chick behind me thought that was so funny!

they have fireworks the first friday of every month at 9:30, so we found a spot to watch them around 9:00. ray got another drink from wet willie's while we waited - i think he got melon this time. guess who drove us home? :upsidedow here's a pretty river boat dinner cruise going by....

I LOVE Charleston!!! I spent a day and a half there about 6 years ago and I've wanted to go back . I think if I could move anywhere I would buy one of the old houses in the historic area.......that is if I had a few extra million laying around.

it was! i'm glad that skirt i had on wasn't tight (to begin with). savannah is one of the oldest cities in the united states, so there's a lot of history there. it was one of the few major cities in the south that wasn't burned down during the civil war. but i'm sure socal is nice to! i wouldn't know - i've only flown over it on the way to hawaii. i do want to go to san diego someday though!

on this day i discovered something new about my husband, who has been my significant other for almost 16 years now (we started dating when i was 17). i was standing out on the viewing deck taking pictures and i went to find him so we could get a picture together. well, he had went back into the lighthouse. i told him to come outside and he just shook his head. i asked him what was wrong and he said he didn't like the height. he has never, ever told me that he's scared of heights!!! he said he's not really scared of all heights, just ones where you're out in the open like that. i asked if he could come out for just a second for a picture and he wouldn't. wow....you learn something new every day.

so i got some lady to take a picture for me.....

okay, so this is where i messed up. i thought i had read on the flyer that the wienie dog races were at 2:00. we get down to the park and there's nobody there....at all. it was around 1:45 and i knew that if the races were starting at 2:00, this place would be packed. this was the only person we saw.....

at this point i have to share a story with you. labor day weekend 2003 we went to savannah with some friends. my brother, brett (margot's daddy) was 17 at the time and he got hit by a truck while pushing his motorcycle across the road. it happened very late that saturdady night and i got a call from my stepmom at 6:00 sunday morning telling me that he was in the hospital and they were going to have to rebuild his leg. well, of course i couldn't go back to sleep because i was worried sick over him. so i grabbed some coffee and a book and headed down to river street to read while i waited on periodic updates from my family - we were staying 1 block away from river street so it was easy for me to walk down there. anyway, so i'm sitting on the wall of a planter reading for like 20 minutes and then i hear somebody grumbling behind me. i turn around and look behind the bush that's right behind me and there's a homeless guy sleeping back there. :scared1: i didn't even know he was there the whole time! i'm just glad he didn't wake up.

by the way, brett was okay. his leg will always cause him problems but at least he can walk and is alive!

but i digress....

back to my story. so we get there and there's nobody there but our new friend with his greasy bag. well, i go to look at another flyer (they were in all the shop windows) and discover that the wienie dog races were at 10:00, not 2:00! so we had missed them. BUMMER!!!!! :headache:

Another wonderful day of your Savannah trip, Dawn! Too funny about not knowing Ray is not too keen on heights! That's like when I found out in 2008 that Charles is superstitious of the number 13 (after being with him since 1993)! Lovely pictures of the view from the lighthouse!

Savannah is sooo beautiful! I never knew that the lighthouse, beach, river street etc were there. It's so nice too.

That lady with the triangle on top of her hair is HOT. That's my favorite hair do. The bum with the greasy bag is hot too....:rotfl2: I love how you take pictures of random people in all your TRs :rotfl:

Your pictures are beautiful of Forsyth Park! We make trips to New Orleans a lot but I think I need to make a trip to Savannah!

I do feel for Ray and the heights issue though! I do not like it when it is open either! A quick story I hope you will enjoy (and find amusing)! My husband and I went on a cruise with some friends and one of our excursions was to Chitzen Itza (Mayan Ruins). There are 365 steep steps to the top. Not thinking I ran to the top and when I turned around all I could see were miles and miles of vast Mexican jungle! Immediate panic attack! Literally! I had total strangers giving me their water and candy and trying to help me breath. I ended up getting down on my rear-end with my husband in front of me and a dude named Patrick from Ireland (whom I had never met before) holding my hand as we went down 365 steps bump by bump! My husband will now not let me go up anything if it is more than three feet high! It was terrifying then but hysterical now!

The really bad part though was that after we got to the bottom, a sweet 90 year old woman that was also on our ship, was coming down the steps all by herself. And on the boat she and her walker were always being assisted on and off the elevators!

So be thankful you did not have to assist Ray down those steps on his rear!! :rotfl2:

Who knows, maybe white lipstick is really in where she's from. Or maybe it's that sunscreen chapstick--I bought it once and wore it once before I realized it made my lips bright white!! :eek:

Ooohhh! Savanah looks great! I will have to mention this area to my family. We are trying to plan a beach vacation next summer for all of us (Sister and her family, mom, dad and Dave, Amelia and I) and that looks nice. My mom would looooove Paula's restraunt she is kinda obsessed with her!

Your pictures are great. I live about an hour and a half away from Boston and visit the city often. Not only is it a great city for sports but there is so much history and old buildings it is great to just walk around and take it all in.

Sweet potato fries? YUM! Love them. Have you watched "Ruby" on Style? She is from Savannah so I thought of places I've seen her in the show when I saw your pics. I've always wanted to go to Savannah but it doesn't seem to ever work out. I don't think it's that far of a drive from me...I think I googled it and from just north of fort lauderdale it was 8 hours. Does that sound right?

he (or she) was SO cute! i'm no chef but from my understanding gelato is made from milk and ice cream is made from cream. gelato seems more dense to me. it's very yummy! if you like ice cream (and who doesn't?) you'd like it. yeah, i hear chad on the great danes. they are beautiful dogs but can you imagine the land mines in the back yard???

Isn't that amazing that lighthouses can put out so much light with just those small light bulbs and lots of refraction?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm not familiar with Savannah's waving girl...what did she do (don't say "wave"! :laughing: ie. why was she waving)?

thanks! i know....ray really liked checking out the mechanical part of it. i just wanted ot see the views! from what i understand, she really just stood out at the port and waved to all the ships coming in - she'd use a cloth during the day and a lantern at night. i'm not sure how accurate that is but that's what i've heard anyway.

it really is a beautiful city. random people make me smile so i have to include them. sometimes it can come off as mean but i laugh at myself too so i think that excuses laughing at other people. :rotfl:

it's so much fun! you'd love it. yeah, i would've never thought that about ray. i'm the one that didn't want to ride ToT the first time and he made me. but that's different, i guess.

you guys would love it! i do have to warn you - tybee is a little different from a traditional beach. if you're used to the white sand of the gulf, that's not what you're going to get here. there are lots of marsh areas on one side of the island and the tide goes WAY out in the afternoon. plus the waves aren't huge. but it's really pretty and still fun! and you can get a beach house there for a good price, too.

hey, shannon! long time, no see. cool that you have 2 trips coming up! :thumbsup2 no, i haven't watched ruby. i need to check that out! i have no idea how far it is from fort lauderdale. from us it's a little over 4 hours. i would think you'd go towards daytona (?) and then up I-95 past brunswick and then right on I-16. not sure how long it would take though. i hope you get to go soon!

their dad ran a 5K at epcot the morning that they went there, so the kids got to run a short one after that. some of these pictures are from that.

i know you don't know these people but i figured you guys would enjoy a little disney magic. this was the first time they'd been for a big trip there. they went on a cruise a few years back but only went to MK for 1 day. so this was a big deal to them. they had a blast (other than the record-setting hot temps last week!)

Me, too! We don't have to know them; we just know Disney, and when we see anyone having a good time there, we're happy! :)

Brooklynn and Bella got their first picture made in the Contemporary Mickey on this trip, so I am sure that will be added to one of several spots that they are photographed at regularly on future trips. We do the totem pole any time we're at WL and the little elephants at Rafiki's, too.

They all look like they had a great time, and I am sure they very much appreciated your help.

I like the picture where Minnie is more interested in her delicious breakfast than in entertaining Snow White. :laughing:

Looks like I saw a little ankle bracelet type alarm. :lmao: My mom actually bought the brickhouse child locator. We tested it out at the mall with Hollie, my sister, and I wearing it while my mom kept the main part to it. It actually worked really good!! When they dropped me off at Ulta (for makeup of course! hahaha) I forgot to give it back and they said that the main part went off and off until my mom had to take the battery out!! :rotfl2:

yeah, i asked her about this. she said that she and her husband use them for running and that they got some for the boys and that the little girl had hers (the mom's) on. she said she just wanted to be sure their cell phone was attached to the kids' bodies in case they got lost. that's crazy about the brickhouse thing! i will probably get something like that, too, when i have a kid...i'm such a worry wart!

i agree! i always tell friends/clients now to call me AT ANY TIME if they have a question about ANYTHING.....really i just want them to call me while they're at disney world!!! :lmao: i love the picture of minnie with snow white, too. i will update disney on ice here as soon as i'm done with savannah. it's gonna take me awhile to sort out those pictures and figure out which ones to post - i took over 400! i can't wait to see the pics of bella and brooklynn with micky at the CR!

back to the savannah mini trip!

so after forsyth park we decided to go check out bonaventure cemetery. in all our trips to savannah we had never been there. it's where some of the scenes in "midnight in the garden of good and evil" take place and is actually the garden of good and evil the author is referring to. it's on the outskirts of savannah and i had to look up directions on where to go before we left that day. but thank goodness for the GPS on ray's phone because otherwise we wouldn't have found it.

we stopped at the office building and got a map. this place was HUGE!!! over 100 acres. and it's still a functioning cemetery, so they let you drive back but you have to go very slow as not to disturb some of the more recently-made graves.

i was disappointed to learn that the bird girl sculptor is no longer at bonaventure. it is now in a museum in savannah. this is the sculpture that's featured on the cover of the book. i have a mini version in my butterfly garden.

the first grave we saw was little gracie. this is one i wanted to see while i was here because i'd seen pics of it before and it was just beautiful and haunting.

the cemetery was soooooooooo beautiful and i'm so glad we went there. it's so huge though - there's no way you can see all of it in a few hours. i think we were there for about 2 hours and only saw a little bit of it.

after that we headed back to the beach house for an afternoon break and to freshen up. then we headed back into savannah for dinner at belford's at city market. it was nice that night so we got a table out on the patio. this was our view.....

we had some time to kill before we needed to be at colonial park cemetery for our ghost tour, so we decided to do what else but shop for more candy!!!

we bought tons of candy - lots of white chocolate covered pecan clusters and pralines to munch on later. :thumbsup2 we also got the boys some doggie treats while we were there.

we made our way to colonial park cemetery and had to walk past the police station on the way there. they had these old police cars parked out front....

so the tour started at the cemetery entrance but we didn't actually walk through it. they're not allowed to do that any more. this was a walking tour so we started out walking alongside the cemetery. you can see some of the old head stones on the back wall in this pictures. sorry for the blurriness. i'm still getting used to taking pictures at night.

the tour guide told us that the cemetery used to be A LOT bigger and when they started to build the city up, they just built it on top of dead people. so if you're walking around the historic district, you're probably walking on dead people. nice! anyway, they took some of the head stones from these graves and put them on that back wall. she said a lot of paranormal activity is seen in this area, but of course we didn't see anything.

this is the kehoe house. it's now a bed and breakfast and it's BEAUTIFUL! it's apparently very haunted.

she said little girls' voices can be heard in one of the back rooms sometimes and that the homeowner likes to haunt the top dark window because that's where his office was.

this place is an inn and restaurant now but it is the most haunted place in savannah. the figure in the window is supposed to be a joke to represent anna, the ghost that haunts room 204. someone said it looked like michael jackson! :rotfl2:

the story she told us was that anna was a young bride that lived here. she was married to an older man who basically treated her like a slave and she fell in love with a german sailor who was staying at the inn. her husband found out and locked her in her room to be hung later and she jumped out the window. well, she didn't die but instead broke a bunch of bones and then her husband had his servants beat her up and lock her in the room again, where she died of her injuries. miley cyrus was supposed to have stayed here with her mom when they were filming a movie this summer in tybee island and she says anna left a handprint on her boot. here's the story:

after that the tour was over. i thought it was okay. it was $20 each so worth $40? not really. i'm not saying it was bad. it just wasn't what i expected. it was more historical than "ghostly". don't get me wrong - i love learning about the history of the city - i just could do that while riding a bus! :laughing:

we headed back to the car and on the way happened to pass by our favorite store ever, parker's market on drayton street. if you're ever in savannah, stop by here! they have the coolest stuff.
