Our Disney Cast of 8 is:
My Mom
Mother in Law
Father in Law
Oldest Granddaughter {6}
Youngest Granddaughter {4}
Only Grandson {4}
Me
Husband
We took a early morning Southwest Airlines flight from el paso with a plan transfer through phoenix and flew on to john wayne airport in orange county. We always fly Southwest airlines when the option presents itself, they have great rebooking policies, no charge for 1 and 2nd bags and generous rapid reward plans.
Upon landing at John Wayne Airport, there we were met by the Limo Driver from http://www.u-r-there-limousine.com/ ...we had excellent service and will use them again for large parties.
Our driver took us to our hotel, Holiday Inn Express...on South Walnut...that is where we always stay. Before their renovations, during their renovations and we will stay there after their renovations. We booked 3 rooms at $80 for each room a night. Here is a pic the room.

As You can guess we couldn't wait to head for the park, so we bought our $4 dollar all day and night til the park closes ART passes and hopped on the shuttle to the park.
And *Who* did we see, dressed so Christmassy?
http://i42.tinypic.com/96jq50.jpg
After big hugs and happy smiles, we then headed out to get my the annual passes for the children and my mother at the bank. The line moved quickly and we saw lots of people getting annual passes over the time we were there.

So by this time it was getting to be late afternoon, and we went and ate a nice fried chicken dinner at Plaza Inn for $13.95. We ordered 4 of the meals for 8 and there was chicken left over. Afterwards we sat and watched the parade and it was so crowded, we decided to go back to the room and make it an early night. So we picked up 3 bags of cotton candy and made our way back to the hotel. As the next few days would be filled with much happiness shared!

Hey WendyLouWho! Who by the way is CindyLouWho's much cuter sister:goodvibes ... hhmmm... yep those cowboy kid pics are gone by the wasteside literally. You know my husband and i were talking about it. Last year we did a renovation on one of our branch offices and we would have been real sad if our clients had taken their business somewhere else while we were doing updates to make things nicer for them. So I think that is why we have stuck with this hotel. Besides they were so nice to us when my husband was ill on that trip in october. Eek.. this is my first trip report.. i never really got to do one on the other trip..so let's see how this one goes.
Heather was so sweet to teach me how to upload pics to tinypic. And so did Miss Melody, both so great to help.:wizard:

*Hugs* for Wendy:goodvibes
One thing i noticed on our trip was... that my DH came home from disneyland very much in the christmas spirit!:santa: He said, it was the best trip we've ever taken to disneyland. And that he would like to go each year. That it really put him in the mood for christmas.
We did Disneyland laid back style.. we had reservations each day at the same time at the same place for lunch so if anyone in our group of 8 forgot or got parted from the group, they could meet up there and all would be kewl. For Us, Cafe New Orleans is a great lunch spot, it gives you a nice sit down meal with a pretty view and the worlds best fries!
http://i39.tinypic.com/2vab62g.jpg
After a delicious meal where I remembered to ask for our ornaments for the first time, I always forget!:rotfl: So we got three of two different kinds for two different days.. for the kids to take home for their family tree.:santa: We stopped by this pretty area to take a pic but the kids were little monkies so where do MoNkIeS belong?
http://i40.tinypic.com/34ec5rq.jpg
TooN ToWn! We headed there!
http://i40.tinypic.com/993wj4.jpg
Toon Town is the best place for little kids to run and play! It's bright and colorful, and so kid friendly. A super great place to find the characters. Which on this trip, we really didn't see alot of characters.:confused3
So we were Very Happy to Find Mickey at Home!
http://i44.tinypic.com/2gwcbqg.jpg
That brought lots of smiles!
http://i40.tinypic.com/24zxh8z.jpg
We played here for an hours, seeing several characters. Then we took the train around the park several times. This trip was so much fun because it was relaxing and peaceful even amongst the crowds, as we had no set agenda or rushing around to do. Our goal was to have a happy time and keep everyone healthy through the holidays as the weather was starting to turn cold.
Our grandchildren are so sweet natured..they never asked for anything while we were at the park.. so we told them on that afternoon they could each pick a special treasure to take home from the toy store near it's a small world. Rosalyn {age 6} picked a cute stuffed baby Belle doll, there she also had her first pin trade! She traded for a beautiful purple hannah montanna and was the very happy girl:woohoo: Faye {age 4} selected a adorable stuffed baby dumbo, since dumbo was her favorite ride! While Logan {age4} choose a playset that had Captain Hook in it as He loves Peter Pan and Captain Hook.:wizard: We had a nice dinner in the park, then decided to go back to the room so the kids could have a long bubble bath and go to bed early for their big day tomorrow.
http://i43.tinypic.com/nl77rr.jpg
As you can see, Our oldest granddaughter really did ask Santa for her 2 front teeth for Christmas!:rotfl:

WendyLouWho..incase you are wondering.. yesssssssss..it's a little playdough mickey mouse on miss rosalyn's pillow... :rotfl:
she made it and wanted mickey to sleep with her...i was worried mickey was going to end up in her hair.. or on the stuffed animals.. but luckily teal blue and hot pink play dough mickey survived just fine. Hhhhhmmmm... i should let them make some and bake them in the oven for christmas ornaments. Anyhoo..the mini cans of playdough were fun.. a nice toy for them to play with at the desk in the room.. it was a quiet before bed activity which switched gears from a excitting day at the park!
We had such a happy trip.. simple and fun.:goodvibes

HiYa Miss Melody!... You know... we didn't get any pictures together.. it was a challenging trip dealing with my mother in law and her Alzheimer's Disease. She would get disoriented easily ..and often i would have to find myself not only dealing with the three little children but with her. When we came home my husband thanked me, saying.. for insisiting that his parents came with us. Because she won't be able to travel anymore. While we were at the airport she would say.. what are you all doing at the airport? i would say we are going to disneyland. And she would say, oh i am not sure where we are going, ask Bob. Then when one of the kids came up she said, are they here to see you off? I would say.. no. They are going to Disneyland with us. She would say..oh you will have fun, we are going to the lakehouse. :sad1:
My Husband promised me that He would take me to Disneyland for the Wine and Food Festival. I'm looking for information about that. I'll take lots of pics then.:lovestruc

We had called ahead and requested a mini fridge and microwave in our room because we knew we wanted to have breakfast in the room each day. Each morning we had oatmeal as well as instant country gravy with precooked bacon and biscuits. We also brought fruit and mini boxes of juice and milk. I think celebrating Disneyland with the generations is fun. We always take my Mom with us. It started when the kids were little. We would bring her along as a third hand to be held. Then each kid had an adult buddy. Less stress for me that way. Now that the kids are "grown up" teenagers and pre-teen we just bring her along. I think it's great that he likes the Princess's when my son was little he was madly in love with Minnie Mouse. :goodvibes

Let's see... where were we...
Oh Yes... so it was nearing lunch time... and we went to Cafe Orlean's again. We've never had a bad meal here.. and enjoy people watching while we ate.
Then we rode the train around the park.. one of our favorite things to do. And stopped off to see the Princesses. If You look in my oldest granddaughter's hand..You will see a tiny flower she brought from the hotel and kept up with alllll day just to give to Snow White. Never has a tiny flower been held as a treasure. I was so grateful that it made it to snow white in one piece!:rotfl2:
http://i43.tinypic.com/24y6y5l.jpg
Snow White Was a Big Hit!!! Look in Snow White's hand..she has the little flower!:flower3:
http://i43.tinypic.com/dn0h0x.jpg
This was The BEST character interaction we have had in all of our trips to Disneyland. She was *so* in character. When our oldest granddaughter gave Snow White the flower.. Snow white said.." I'm going to put it in a vase and see if it grows!"... the kids laughed and were so happy...
Then Snow white asked my grandson where was his ship! she also asked him, "You're a pirate! Are you going to steal my jewels?!" My grandson replied.." nooooOOOOoooo Snow White.. i'm just a little boy".:rotfl:
http://i42.tinypic.com/11sfb4z.jpg

Oh that is wonderful interaction. How sweet of Snow White. I love it when they are on like that. One time when my son was around 5 he was in tired meltdown. He sat down on a planter by the tunnels into Main Street and was crying. His beloved Minnie Mouse came out and saw him crying. She came over and dried his tears and "kissed" him on top of the head. She saved what was becoming a terrible evening for him. It actually made his whole trip.

And That's all Folks! We didn't get anymore pictures.. Because my mother in law wandered off with the stroller and we spent the next hour looking for her. After that scare..they went back to the room for her to rest. And we took the children to ride their favorite rides again. So it was back to fantasy land, to hit all the standards, Dumbo, Mr. Toads, Peter Pan, Snow White's and The Carosel. Little tummies decided they were hungry so we went to dinner at the Plaza Inn .. it was nice warm, comfort food. Then it was time to watch the parade, the weather was getting colder..and since we had given all members of the family premium annual passes for christmas..we decided to go back to the room.
Having the annual passes made it easier, more relaxed. We didn't feel like we had to do everything on this trip...it was laid back, more time to play and be in the moment..than rushing here and there. This is our first year to have the passes.. i hope to get them next year also.
Our trip was short and sweet. It orginally started out as a 25th anniversary trip for my husband and myself...then we couldn't leave our grandchildren out...so we invited them... and my mother loves Disneyland so much....i wanted her to get to share in seeing the babies happiness... and finally my mother in law's Alzheimer's disease progressed rapidly over the summer..so we knew we needed to invite them so that the three great grandchildren would have the memory of Celebrating Christmas at Disneyland with three of their great grandparents..and two grandparents.
If you go on a multi generational trip, as we did...remember..it's not about seeing or doing everything... it's about making memories that will last a lifetime!
Happy New Year Everyone... be blessed with good health, shelter, prosperity and many disney moments in the new year!
Always,
dawnprincess:

You are so right! I LOVE Disneyland during the holiday season. I am a little bent out of shape because we went earlier this year than I originally wanted in order to work around our guests schedule which means next year we have to go at the very beginning of November IF we want to get in our 2 weeks vacation before our APs expireon November 15th. I don't think my DD will take it well if she doesn't get to see Santa and hang out at the Reindeer Roundup. I think she enjoyed that more than anything on our entire trip this year. Me thinks that we may consider getting in a week on the AP and go ahead and just not plan to save money on the second week so we can be there late enough to see the full blown Christmassy stuff. I mean I can't miss things like gingerbread cookies, the castle lighting and snow! So maybe we will see you there!
Good idea pre-planning a Disney savings account! I really should do that cause it wasn't any fun to come home with a full bill of vacation expenses PLUS Christmas spending heaped all together! BUT on the bright side... isn't the Disney Visa great! I had enough rewards from putting everything all year long on it to pay for a 4 person character meal at Ariel's Grotto, Lunch for 8 people at Blue Bayou and all my souvenir shopping.
So when are you going on the tour? We did it on our trip and really enjoyed it. (watch for details coming up in my report) My DH said it was the best tour we have taken so far! And yes, they did give us a cute pin at the end so you should get one too unless they have changed things.

What fun... thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip. It was very, very sweet.

Thanks for the link. Anymore pictures of the Holiday Inn? We've stayed at Fairfield and Hojo before but they are booked when we want to go and Holiday Inn is the only opening.

KCMike.. the holiday inn on south walnut.. has just been redone. We were there this weekend.. the lobby is like a L.A. resturant/club.. very chic and modern.. they have a bar at the opening to the resturant. It's very nice..we are going back there in early march to stay from the 5th thru the 11th.
Good Luck in whatever hotel you end up with.princess:
