Well if you are reading this than you are in for a real treat...or at least a semi sweet chocolate chip which is not quite real chocolate but makes you feel better about yourself ...kinda like Diet Coke....extra large please cause I am watching my figure...:cool2:

This trip started over a year ago in anticipation for my son's 18th Birthday!

He loves Christmas lights and Disney and thus...what better place to be...

Then...in October...we had a tragedy in our home...a life altering moment that made this trip a foccus and a needed respit for all involved...and thus...

A slap happy trip ensued on December 4th-15th...with 5 of us the whole time...and a strag-a-long at the end...

We laughed at ourselves...we laughed at others...we laughed at others laughing at ourselves...:dance3:

There was a good time had by all...and no one was left behind...because Disney does not accept hotel crashers...we asked..they said you need to pay to keep the stay...:confused3

We even tried to beg...but they asked us to start acting our age...so we tried a sit-in and handcuffed ourselves to the concierge desk...and then...wouldn't ya know it...the main dude in the Christmas studded vest...pulled out a key that unlocked it...like why would you not have a pink fuzzy handcuff key in your pocket...just sayin....:rolleyes1

So forced home were we...and all laughs aside...sad to be gone...wanting to go back..and hoping you enjoy the ride...

If you would like to look back at the longest PTR in the history of life...please do so here...

uh..wait a minute...I need to figure out how I insert a PTR...be back by 2009...

Prelude #1:

The Cast I will start tonight for you but I will only do one because I actually have to work for awhile....shocker I know...

Treyner -

He is my oldest son and turned 18 on this trip...funny kid with an ego the size of Mt. St. Helens around his siblings...but truthfully...very caring and usues his bravado to mask his insecurities...planning on playing college soccer for a D2 school in Colorado next year...and these pics were taken last summer when we visited Colorado for school scouting...

He loves sports, girls and food... not always in that order....and squeezes in school as a neccessity ...

He has never been a kid to cause me any real trouble besides his grades...and that I have decided is his to own at this point...he is not failing and he is a role model to so many not to drink in high school and has friends who call him when they are going to make a bad choice...that whether all A's are on a report card...or not...do not show his value or charachter..

Did I mention he is obsessively competitive...about everything...even underwear...seriously...he needs help...:lmao:

He is very much an animal guy...loves drawing and making up cartoon voices...when I want to throttle him...he makes me laugh...and as such...probably gets away with murder...but he will be leaving in July...

and this was really a last hurrah with him under our home family wing...next trip he will be an adult on his own already...and I know the dynamics will never be the same as they were on this trip...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Colorado%20June%2008/00000034-1.jpg
He is not panning for gold in that bottle...he decided to fill up a bottle with fresh creek water and become a real mountain man...who sleeps in a comfy hotel bed...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Colorado%20June%2008/00000008-1.jpg

Feeding chipmunks peanut butter and trying to convince me that he will not need a rabbies shot and still will give me grandchildren...after they ran through his shorts....:scared1:

Treyner and I after a 4 hour fun filled, dirt fest, four wheeling ride in the mountains of Colorado. Best day ever! If you notice my face is dirtier than his...it was. It seems mister funny pants finds humor going in front of his mama on his ride and doing his best to kick dirt in my face.

I only hope he makes as much money...cause Mama needs a new house...or at least some Coach purses! :woohoo:

Prelude #2

Public Announcement:

Please get beverages and snacks and check your bowel tank... as I find it rude to ask me to wait while I type for kitchen or potty breaks....:rolleyes1

Okay...who do we have left...oh yeah...

Carsyn...

Having blueberries forced on her at Prime Time in 2006...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/00000070.jpg
Carsyn and Treyner's friend Dan from Michigan this past summer...they play soccer together in the summer (Treyner and Dan) and Carsyn has learned that any boy who is a friend of Treyner's will never be allowed to be more than a friend to Carsyn...much to her chagrin...Cause there is something to having a big brother who threatens bodily injury that scares them away... :lmao:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/00000076.jpg
And Carsyn this fall...when she tried dark hair...for 3 months..only to go back to blond again...I mean where would she get the idea it is fun to change hair color? :confused3 :rotfl2:

A bit about Carsyn...
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/Disboards003-1.jpgThis was her 2 weeks before her 13th birthday! :scared1: Yes she always has looked older than I would have liked.

She just turned 15...the last of her grade...and I am reminded daily that most of her friends have their liscenses already..and she just got her permit...I offered to hold her back so she could be the oldest...cause I am a giver..but she thought I was being a smart mouth...the audacity!:cool2:

She is very caring and at the same time...very committed to standing up for herself if she thinks she is getting the short end of the stick..which is about 99% of the time...

She loves harder than anyone I know and is very mature about friends and relationships...
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/Picture036.jpg
we have gotten a great relationship going now...after a few rough patches...and she tells me everything...

I had 2 sisters...she has 2 brothers...
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/Disboards004.jpg
so I cannot understand what she has to put up with boys being in her business and feeling odd man out...but I tell her she does not have to worry about someone stealing her clothes...but now that I think about it..she is missing several thongs...hmmmm...

She loves soccer and friends but most of all worries about everything...and tries to please everyone first...which I have taught her...and am trying to undo...

Carsyn is really a fun spirit...and I am glad she is mine...she took lots of pics this trip...and wants credit...and payment rights...pirate:

Up next....Baylor...12 1/2 years old and witty...with the humor of Red Fox...and Richard Pryor...much to the dismay of his school and teachers...:sad2:

Prelude # 3

Then there was 3...and for that I am greatfull.

You see on the afternoon of Halloween this year...my youngest son was at a friend's house...A verrrrrry long story short....the mom left for work...which I had been told she would be home..and the 3 12/13 year old boys were left alone. Not a great idea...and they went down to the remains of the bonfire from the night before.:sad2:

The boy whose home it had been...went back to the house to use the restroom...came down with a glass of what Baylor thought was water.

It ended up being gasoline...:scared1:

He threw it on the embers...it flashed back on him...and when that happened...got scared and threw the rest of the gas in the cup away from him...unfortunatley...it went all over Baylor's left leg. The flame followed the gas.

Baylor had his witts about him...when patting it out and rolling it out did not work...he jumped into a pool that was not drained yet and saved his life.

Baylor ended up with 3rd degree burns on his left leg from top of the foot to mid shin and on the back of his ankle...

Skin grafting and basically being in the hospital for the month of November or at home on bedrest...meant that the trip was very up in the air. Huge emotional hit to the family as well as financially. I can tell you that it is the hardest thing I will or ever had to go through. The burn unit docs and nurses were fantastic...we have the best in the country right here 30 minutes from him and I know how many times people there did not make it through recovery. It was heart wrenching to be greatfull that your child was not as bad as others...that yes he will be scarred...but he will live...and knowing others were not as lucky. :sad1:

I spoke to the doctors immediatley about the trip...looking at his raw leg and wondering if he would ever walk let alone be able to go...he would be missing so much school....should he miss more? :confused3

The doctors though...convinced me that the trip would be great for him...needed in fact...and that was hard to hear from a practical standpoint. Yet the depression rate is high for injuries like this and he needed to just be a kid...so what better place than Disney for that?:yay:

So we went...and we had a great time...and as I write this I will be giving you the updates as we go on how his progress was...but it was the right choice...the best for our family...and the best for Baylor.

He is a guy who is a total boy...he usually is playing hockey now and snowboarding and outside 24/7 if he could. It is hard to watch him watch his friends...because he is not strong enough yet...not back 100% and will not be for a year at least.

He loves animals.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/kids%20random/Disboards005.jpg

He loves Chris Farley and all things that make him laugh. He told our pastor he wants to be on Comedy Central when he grows up...and the old me might have pointed out all the impractacalities in that wish...but the new me says...go for it.

He is super funny...totally to my demise when I want to be firm...and is more mature than the older two, many times. He gets the fact of just doing your chore and it is over...that arguing only perpetuates the time...he thinks bickering is pointless...and when the feuding fades between anyone...listen for him...cause he usually has a one liner that makes everyone laugh and forget what they were mad about in the first place.

Here are some pics of Baylor...I know I wrote a lot about him...but this trip ended up being one for him to become alive again...and his brother and sister really did a great job of making him feel like his old self...even if that meant handing down a wedgie! ;)

Thanks so much...I only wish I had been that cute as a kid versus living life with coke bottle glasses and crooked teeth cause parents are tight wads and "who needs to eat like a regular person...chew on the side of your mouth."

Ahemm...counseling session 104 and 105...in progress...:lmao:

Seriously...they are pretty cute in my eyes...and Baylor just got asked to a dance at school by a girl who is just a doll...and for that..I am doing the happy dance...:dance3: cause he was all worried that no one was going to like him with his injury...that he would "gross" them out...and I told him...they will be so grossed out by his burping/farting friends...that he will come accross as Prince Charming...no matter scar or not...that he needed to come up with a great story of his injury like he was a secret child spy for the CIA and he saved an entire Polish family from a car bomb while they vacationed in Siberia and all he has to show for it is his leg...ehhhh...no biggie....

He laughed and laughed and it may have been the morphine coma he was in at the time...but I am taking full credit that I am funny! :rolleyes1

Wow - great start! Congrats to your oldest son for his furture college soccer career. Congrats to your daughter for putting her hair back to its proper color. And a special "three cheers" to your youngest son for enduring such an emtionally and physically painful experience. I wish him much success on his continued recovery. And ....I am looking forward to reading your trip report.

P.S. I have two boys (14 and 16) who have been playing club soccer since 3rd grade. Any tips you have for college would be greatly appreciated. The oldest is just starting the college showcases as a sophmore and will participate in an ODP (olympic dev) program this spring/summer.

WARNING!
Long soccer rant ahead..please only read if you care about soccer...
Hi! Tips on soccer...well I did things completely backwards and some things should have been done better maybe...

#1 Treyner has been a gifted athelete since in utero...(seriously - he did a flip 2 weeks over do and breech...the night before my scheduled c-section...doctor said "no way..he is too big to turn at this point"...I said..."well I am telling you I looked like an alien was coming out of me"...and I was right...:worship: ) so he was in gymanstics, dance, basketball, hockey, football and soccer since 3. He thought he was going to play football in college - not soccer...so always played club in the summer and football in HS. Much the the dismay of the HS coach.

The summer after his freshman year...he was headhunted by a better team from a town 40 miles away...and he was at a point that he was serious about socer and his town team was not...so he started that winter playing indoor in the winter and throughout spring and summer for a team that was awesome. Played with them for 2 years..developed skills as a goalie he needed - he had never really been coached before...his Dad was his coach and he had never seen soccer until Treyner played...

#2 This past spring he was at the MN state cup play in tournament...and their team played a team called "Bangu" which is an elite team...compromised of the best of the state of MN...they only play tournaments...and were expected to get spanked...they usually creamed people 15-0. Treyner held them 0-0.

The calls started coming in...All the local colleges wanted to know who he was...they never saw him before...did not have him on their radar at all...and we started saying..."Treyner...this is a for sure...football is a maybe."

We met with many local colleges...but MN does not have any higher than division 3 right now...and that means no athletic scholarships. Great extremely competitive teams...the best in the state has literally came to 20 of his games....and one coach was honest with me. He asked if Treyner wants to play past college. :scared1:

I was shell shocked...here was a coach who wanted to recruit my son saying that if Treyner has interest past college...he needs to leave MN.

2 weeks later we were on a plane heading for Colorado. Looking for a school with a good coach and graphic arts....with no video footage...no help...just flailing as a mom for her son.

#3 I called a few colleges (they have 8 division 2 schools) and we matched his needs with 3. I emailed the coaches...attached the e-mails of accolades he had received from the local colleges...and asked for them to meet with us. This mind you was the middle of June....and by the grace of God the 2 coaches he was interested in the most...e-mailed back with their phone numbers. One guys was a total jack wad..condescending and acted like I should kisshis tukkus over the phone...I told Treyner I di not want him playig for a coach who behaved like that.

Second coach...super nice and asked if we couldmeet the next day. In Durango. 6 hour drive from Denver. I said...sure! Had done research...he had coached the pros...colleges...and internationally...and when we met...the first question he asked Treyner was...

"Who is your favorite goalie?"

Treyner just stared at him...and he said..."Son...if you do not know who you like how can you know when you are as good as him or even better surpass his skills?"

Fell in love with him right there.

He had Treyner play with the main goalie that night and a assistant coach who tried out for the Galaxy and had been accepted at Dallas...he "checked" the grass conditions...since he could not actively recruit him in season...and asked us to come back the next day again....so we stayed...and he met with us...and said he thought Treyner had good potential. Asked him to come to their camp in 5 weeks...:scared1: (ummm...I have to come up with $500 and a plane ticket right after we get back???) and he would give him his answer then...

Treyner went...missed the first of state playoffs but his loyalty needed to be to himself at that point...received goalie of the camp award...and he went back out again over Halloween for 5 days..saw 2 games and decided that this was a great fit. They want him...he worships them...and since...he has grown 2 more inches...6'3 and about 186 right now...

But I tell you that it is hard...I could write and write...I just went on advocating for my child and felt my way through it. He has since been asked to play for the new "Bangu team" which is now called "MN Thunder Academy" ran with the help of our MN pro team. He is now the starting goalie for that team he tied 0-0 only 5 months ago....He forgo his senior football season to play soccer for our HS team that was horible...but getting shot on 15-25 times in a game is good practice...and he has a devotiion like nothing else. They like the fact he has not played hard core before now...he has not been programmed with so many coaching styles that he cannot learn...that he has never had a goalie coach so he has not peaked yet...and that he is a versitile player and flexible...with his gymnastics background he can do a front handspring throw-in...and he can punt the ball from the top of the box to his opponents box...almost scored goals 3 times this year ...

He has had some full rides offered to him from smaller NAIA schools...but if he wants bigger than college...that will not help him...and he can always play down if things do not work out in Colorado. But he will always wonder what if...if he doesn't pursue it now.

Things I wish I knew....invest in a very good video camera...high speed footage and do not ape him/her specifically...coaches want a field shot to see them interact on the field...how they intercept the ball..read the field...

do not think you know what coaches are looking at either...when Treyner was getting shot on by the 2 older guys...I was wanting to hide...he was getting smoked...but the coach loved it...he said...he is doing fin..he will never stop them right now...he has not had the training...but his arms are outstetched...he is attacking the ball..and he has great vertical and horizontal lines...??? I was like...okay...but he got scored on 600 times in 3 minutes! :lmao:

Treyner would probably do a great job talking to them...he would not moind at all...and he would give good info from aplayer point of view...pm. me your info if you want him to call them.

Okay...enough soccer talk....back to your regularly scheduled program...:3dglasses

Thanks for the interesting reply. Your son sounds like he's a natural talent. Goalie, too! Cool. Sounds like he is well on his way to a successful career.

I like your idea about the video camera - never thought about that. My eldest son is a field player. Loves midfield, but is fortunate enough to be able to play forward and defense. So he's a good utility player. Played defense in the high school state tournament when the usual right defender got suspended from the team for taking someone's ADHD med. It was definately a shining moment for my son when he had to step in and play two complete games from start to finish in a position he doesn't normally play. For a small state, our high school teams are pretty competitive. He got a lot of positive feedback from the coaches, so I am hoping that his off season and junior year are successful.

Sounds like he is off to a fantastic start..and yes...a video camera is a neccessity..wish i had one...they want to see them often before they will invite them to a camp...plus he may decide to play in a college not local and most coaches only recruit by word of mouth or who they see...start looking now into camps at colleges...go the summer before his junior year...and that way you have 2 summers to get yourself together not be stressed city like I am right now...

The other thing...do not let him push himself if he is injured...they want a full health background...any major ACL/MCL etc..injuries may cause them to not look at him twice!

The other thing is that try and make sure he is weight lifting and eating a well balanced diet...and sit-ups like crazy! Treyner wishes he was in better shape...they do over 1000 sit ups a day and the work outs are made to make you hurl...they want strong guys who won't be pushed around on the field...

Like I said...I envy his excitement now...Treyner did not decide on soccer until his senior year for college. Your son has much better chances than Treyner had to go places if he can get his stuff together now...if that is what he wants...

I wish you well and we will have to be rooting each other on this summer! :woohoo:

Prelude #4 (How long can a person drag out a prelude before it just becomes lude?)

So here is the last two to tell you about...

Me & Dan

See my big mouth...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Dan%20and%20Dawn%208-07/TorisCamera140.jpg
See why Dan's Disboard name is Grumpyyoungguy? :lmao:

(Sucks when you are not the one putting pictures on a TR doesn't it? :lmao: )

Where to begin...

I am a Tupperware guru and have been with the company for over 8 years now...love it most days but mostly love the time it allows me to be a mom full time...I have a huge mouth...(duc taped shut in Kindergarten in fact by my teacher) and I love all things travel and trying new foods and creating journeys with meals...If I could own a bed and breakfast...I would be in heaven.

Dan is a Senior Corporate Trainer for Qwest (phone company) and is the most fantastic man I have ever known. Really. No joke. Period.

We had both came out of long marriages when we met...knowing we stayed way to long and that sometimes life isn't the way you would like it to be. Neither of us thought we would ever be divorced...wanted to keep our families intact but after seeing what a bad marriage can do to a family...knew that loving them also meant showing them a loving relationship and that respect and love and faith were non negotiables in a marriage.

Neither of us thought that we would want another relationship...or were looking...and yet...like many people say...that is when love finds you the fastest.

He is my best everything...he is a wonderful human being and someone I am proud to say I know...we laugh all the time, help each other out and rarely have even a dissagreemement that lasts for more than 2 minutes and usually they are my fault.

Dan has 2 daughters whom he loves very much and they resemble him in many ways. (Their mother has asked me not to write about them or post their pics...so I will just leave it at that.)

He is also a funny man...and you will see..made this trip a blast.

We have decided to use the term "bonus" rather than "step" when we get married because that is how we feel about each others kids and how we want to be viewed by the kids. They have a mom and a dad...they do not need another one...we each have children that come into this relationship and they are not being replaced. They are the bonus kids God has blessed us with...and we hope to be the bonus parents that they look at as a friend.

It has worked well so far...and we hope as things continue...it keps going even better...

(Lookin at weddings at EPCOT and I am feeling wheels turning...just sayin...:rolleyes1 someday...maybe...

I should probably discuss it with him first in detail...but ya know..a girl can dream...:worship: )

Needless to say it's been very tuff considereing our salaries were close to the same, we own our own house, have 2 fairly new vehicles (desiel truck, and suv) a boat, and a harley. And to top it off my only work experience is chick-fil-a, and health care/EMS.

Again - great information! Fortunately my son has had no major injuries and he does weight lift and run the treadmill during off season. I better mention the sits ups. He is also pretty hard to push around, which is probably why they put him in defense, versus the other back up defenders on his high school team. I felt bad, momentarily, because one of my best friend's son plays defender and he should have been the sub. But I think it boiled down to exactly what you said, they were afraid he would get pushed around too much because although he is a technically accurate player who has good speed, he has no strength against the larger sophmores, juniors, and seniors.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip, but I love talking soccer, too! !

Anytime...and yes..core strength (lower abs) are the key...come off the ground fast...or down to it fast in a slide tackle situation...strength beats size any day and foot skill is great if your not eating turf because you just landed on your backside!

I was a goalie on my club team and in HS, and here are some very good goalies that your son could look into if he didn't already. Oliver Kahn, Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Castillas (he is very attractive btw lol), Petr Čech. Best of luck with the college hunt. I can't wait to read the rest of your report it sounds fabulous already!

Chapter 1: "Eat Beans if you need Gas!"

December 4th - It was a Thursday...cold and with snow outside as usual...
Can I say I was excited to leave...?:worship:

The night before I had "encouraged the kids to make sure they were all packed...each kid had a carry-on for their luggage. That was it.

Yes I am a cruel, evil woman...but I refuse to pay $15 per suitcase...each way when we have a washer/dryer for the whole stay. You never wear what you think you will...and overpacking is the devils work mama. (Insert Bobby's voice (aka Adam Sandler) form Waterboy here!)

Dan and I thought we were all good...then the night before...we hit our local Goodwill...and found 2 awesome travel bags that were brand new for cheap...that still worked as carry-on's and yet were a bit more roomy. So we bought them...Treyner got a backpack that is hiker/camper style...ton's of room..and Carsyn got an American Tourister duffel. Cost: $20! Total! :cool1:

Did not consider that Carsyn is a planner...an overthinker...a freak of wrapping her mind around new ideas...and this new bag caused her some stress. :scared:

To me...the idea was...move your crud to the new bag...stick the rest of your needed schtufff into it...and move on...

Silly me...

This new bag caused her to react like a cat to new furniture...:cat:

She paced...she tilted her head in awe...stalked the perimeter...she looked at this bag like it just fell from Mars... :3dglasses

There was so much to consider... do you roll the clothes now?...do you fold?...do you now put underwear in the side pocket?...Will Phil the airport security guy see my goods if I put them in a side pocket?

No joke...so I left her...my daughter...to contemplate the laws of gravity...and how to re-pack into a new bag...

Next morning...

The alarm went off at 4 a.m. ...yes..4 a.m. for a 7 plus p.m. flight.

Why you query? :confused3

Because I decided to have a blow-out inventory sale that day for all my extra Tupperware schtufff...:scared1:

Yes...I like whips and chains and long walks in dungeons...My name is Mofesha Iwannakillyou....:lmao:

I wanted some extra spending money...and I refuse to use credit cards if at all possible...

I am not evil enough to ask my kids to help out without bribery...I will ask with goods...and for Treyner...who had to put out my signs...in artic temps...

those goods are...

Caramel Rolls...homemade...with the help of Rhodes... :snooty:

just sayin...but I do make them my own with caramel sauce and Pecans...with the help of some nut guy... :squirrel:

So...Dan who had to work...scrambled to get out the door...I threw together my rolls...finished my packing...and woke up the kids...

The same kids who claim to be self-sufficent teens..were not packed..were not ready...their clothes was scattered...and Carsyn's defense was...

"But you got me a new bag."

I said...
"Yes...at 7 p.m. yesterday...you did not go to bed until 10:30 p.m."

But alas...I am trying to stop being over responsible..

I simply explained that she would be wearing her brother's boxers if she was not ready...at 5p.m....when we left...and walked out of her room...:teacher:

The kids ate an entire 9x13 pan of caramel rolls...plus eggs...and then Treyner went out of the house at 7 a.m. to put signs out.

He came back a popsickle at 7:30...:cold: and the kids left.

Baylor was packed...Dip and Spit needed to do so at 2:30 when they arrived from school...and my sale was set up...so I was ready...

I sold over $300 worth of Tupperware ...so extra spending money was achieved...and having it from 9-4 was awesome...

Except for the visit from the City Road person...who explained I cannot attach my signs to the bottom of stop signs...:scared:

I explained that my son did that...and he gave me till 4 p.m. to get them down...

I said if anyone needs a ticket...his name is spelled..."T - R - E - Y - N - E - R...."...:lmao:

Hello...I have a trip...they would go easy on him...:rotfl2:

Anyway...kids came home...and still no Dan...who had called at 1 p.m. roughly to ask if there was any thing I needed and he should be here by 1:30 p.m....and yet...no Dan...now at 2:45 p.m.

Then the call came..."Ummm...where is Treyner? I ran out of Gas."

Next: Chapter 1 continued...do we wait for Dan or do we say "Snooze you looze!"

Day 1 Continued: "We Ain't Scared of no Po Po's"

When our superheroes left off...they were seperated by 30 miles and a tank of gas...

ME: "Exactly where are you right now?"

DAN: "On the side of the road between X and Y."

ME: "How did you run out of gas exactly?"

DAN: "I never drive this car and I thought there was enough to get me home there and back this morning when I left...I was not paying attention to the gas gauge on the way back...worried about what I still had to do...so yeah...Where is Treyner or someone else who can come and bring gas?"

ME: "He is busy pulling signs so he doesn't get thrown in Sing Sing with a cellmate named Bubba."

DAN: "What?"

ME: "Never mind...you will have to hold tight until he gets back...forget about the fact that it is 15 degrees outside...cause if you miss the plane...you will have plenty of time to warm up in your casket."

OKay...maybe I improvised a tad...but it was vey similar to that...Treyner arrived just about 3 mintes after that...probably due to my hysterical phone call...he just walked in and asked where he was...I explained and it is an area that is a pain to get to...MN has many roads that are only one way exits...like you can get on from the north but not the south...I guess they assume all people living or working there only need to travel one way...like homing pigeons...

Sidebar: Why is there not a bird smiley? What are the chances of someone needing a squirrel and not a bird? I mean yes I have used the squirrel in times of need...(Ex: the nut guy reference) but where is a bird when you need it? I am not being picky here either. I could care less if it is seagull, pelican, robin or vulture...just give me the bird please...All I want for Christmas is the bird...:lmao:

And yes...I believe when Dan first called...I had my ever destained habit of asking...
"What do you mean you ran out of gas?"

Because it takes a while for things to set in with me...and for that 2 seconds of normal reaction time most people have...when they contemplate their verbage...I ask the stupidest question...to an obvious statement...and it drives everyone batty at my home...

It's like Rainman meets Forrest Gump... I AM RAIN GUMP!

BTW...the time was 3:20 p.m. our ride was arriving at 5:00 p.m. and yeah...I did not pannic too bad...no temper tantrum or melt down...just a simple..."Get gas...get Dan...get home...and if you run into traffic...which rush hour in Minneapolis area is likely...drive on the side of the road...and tell the police when they pull you over that you are on a mission from God...cause if you two don't make it back in time for the plane...you will be meeting Him. Love you honey. Put your seatbelt on." :)

About 50 minutes later...they did make it in time...Treyner was frazzled because he had not finished packing...his excuse was he thought he would have 2-3 hours form the time he got home to pack...he did not know he would need to get signs and get Dan.

I explained while blinking intently...that the real world is about having responsibilities for others...and that is why procrastinatation is not your friend...and this is my life he exists in...and welcome to it...cause he should know that something always goes wrong...and there is always something to do...just assume you and your needs are screwed...and life will be just great. So hurry along...you now have less that 20 to finish...and don't forget your Disney Money...Love You the most...;) Happpy 18th birthday...welcome to adulthood...you look good with frustration...you should wear it more often! :rotfl2:

So yes...we all made it home to leave..and yes..we were all ready by 5:20 to head out the door...and that is where we will say...

TO BE CONTINUED::rolleyes1

I'm on page 21 of your PTR and I now have my sister (another Disney freak... it runs in our family:love: ) reading it also... We work together but a few hundred feet away in the same building so we instant message each other about what part we are on. Too funny! :rotfl: With my job there is always something to do, so spending my day on the DIS boards is not good! :rolleyes1
Although, with the million things I have to do this evening it is certainly helping the day pass with less stress. :yay:

Your Christmas post was very lovely. Can you believe this year went by so fast? :confused3

"I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people beloew them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys." - Charles Dickens

OMG, I think my blood pressure just went up reading that last post lol. You're writing is great, it really gave me a good laugh. I just read your PTR and that story about the Crusher and Gusher is so funny. The first time me and my sister went on the CMs tell you to lift your butt up and I thought that meant ya know just for when you first push off to start the ride, but definitely not. The little roller things like hit you constantly in the butt, the ride was like Ow Ow Ow, (you go downhill) wee!, (back uphill) Ow Ow OW. Then when we went on again, we kept our tushies up and when we came down the shoot when you go into the pool part I went like flying off the tube into the water. Keep up the funny stories and have a Merry Christmas!

Glad you enjoyed the chuckles...and I was a distraction to your day...does anyone lese think it i stotal garbage that we have many in our country who have to work on Christmas eve? What happened to the days of having both off...no stores open and being organized enough to be prepared? Do not get me wrong...I shopped at Walmart yesterday...but I felt guilty...because I could have gotten things earlier...and I miss thedays of really hibernating with family for the holidays...just my two cents...:lovestruc

Who did you assume was calm? :confused3 Cause I wasn't...I was simply quietly freaking out..via a few holiday cookies and some milk...:drinking1 Thank goodness I do not drink...cause I would have ben one of those passengers who get into a fist to cuffs with a stewardess all intoxicated and such over holding the plane and not closing the doors...

I kept thinking that they will drive fast...:car: and then they will get a caught...::cop:...and they will try and evade the popo...:drive: ...and then they will be on the 6p.m. news...:mic: and I will not be going to Disney with my family...but rather buying cigarettes :smokin: for them in jail because that is what a good mamma would do for her new fugitives of the law...not be selfish and go without 2 founding memebers of her travel troup...

Honestly...I think after all that has happened in my life with Baylor and such...I usually handle new crises better than I used to...most of the time...

BTW...Dan is not my DH yet...:sad1:  but plan to be soon...hopefully by next year if all goes well...:yay:

Day 1 Continued - "Disney Wasn't This Far Last Time!"

Ahhhh...where did I leave off..oh yes...scrambling to be ready to walk out the door within 20 minutes...

Dan was mostly packed..he fine tuned a few things...Baylor and Carsyn were ready and Treyner was throwing last minute things together...

Previously in the week while packing..we found a few flaws in Baylor's clothes...
Baylor had grown over 3" over the summer so we had gone and bought him shorts at the end of the summer sales marathons ...so he would have stuff to wear for December. See...I am smart...I plan for those things...:snooty:

What I did not plan for was him getting burned and losing 15 pounds in a month! So all of his mens shorts size 30 or 32 did not fit...he could have worn them with another person they were so big...he tried as usual to make it into no biggie...so he said as we were trying on clothes...I will just belt them tight...but no joke...they were folded 3 inches on either side trying to cinch them...not going to work...He is 5'3 and was 115...so he was slim when they fit for length...now he looked like a little old man in plaid shorts with no butt...

So out to the garage I went in his too small box I had just packed...to get his old shorts out..and we found 2 that worked...:worship:

The other main issue was how much space all his bandages took and dressings and medication and lotion...I was a wreck making sure I did not forget any of it...plus...

If you remember he was at the doctor with a banged up leg that afternoon...and skidded in sideways to be dropped off at 3:30...thank goodness they said it all looked normal...cause I would have no clue what we would have done if they did not give him the okay to go...but they said it was all good...he just needed more bandages for additional types of swelling etc..

I looked like I was packing for a mission trip to Uganda with the Red Cross.

But we were ready...and then...

Jodi was here...

Jodi is my best friend who is a Godsend in more ways than one...who was able to help with a ride at the last minute...because snow was not falling for 4 hours... cause ya see...she runs a plow biz...and it has snowed a lot here this year...

If not her...we would have called a taxi...but alas...she came...snow plow attached and all... (Insert angelic rings here please)

We squished a bit into her vehicle...a 4 door truck...Dan and Treyner in the front...me and Carsyn and Baylor in the back. Time of departure was 5:20 p.m...not bad for a 5:00 p.m. agenda originally...although we looked like a clown car...

No traffic on the way to the airport which Dan feared...I said don't worry...they are all on the side of the road ...there was a gas shortage dontcha know...(:rolleyes1 closest to a SA smiley as I could find)

We got to MSP by 5:45....unloaded the suitcass form the rear of the vehicle...hugged and said our goodbyes...and flew into the airport...

No lines at all...we had the easiest check in ever...and then...when walking through security...I was given the once over...those darn body piercings! (:lmao: yeah right....like who on the face of the sun would want to look at me neked to pierce something...my luck they would be so horrified they would close their eyes and instead of my piddiple being pierced it would be my clavicle...:rotfl2: )

After allowing me to put my clothes on and swearing I did not have any bombs placed in innapropriate orphaces...we headed to the gait...to sit and wait...because the time was only 6:10..and our plane did not leave till 7:40...so yeah...Daaaaannnnnn...what with the rush and the Home Alone moments in the airport????

It was nice we had some time...kids split 2 McDonalds meals for $245.87...
http://bp2.blogger.com/_bv2hH9YPKyM/RfSRFt6CWGI/AAAAAAAAAHE/CiS7MWMswqs/s400/Atlanta%2BAirport%2Bterminal%2BE%2B2.jpg
BTW: Did you know that in March of 1986...our Minneapolis airport was just the second in the country to get a McDonalds? If you ever need that info for Jeopardy...mail me my portion!

Welcome to MSPA McDonald's

Why fly hungry?

We relaxed a bit...then we were asked to board...and we who hate being the 1st ones on to sit in a sweat box...waited...and waited...and then...when we walked on...realized we were going to have to walk to Alaska to get to our seats...

Seriously...only 3 seats per row...per side...but we were in row 1067...I had a birthday while we walked...it was cool...got a set of wings for the trouble...

There was some empty seats by us in Anchorage....after we took off...the kids split up and Treyner slept by himself accross the row...

I was too excited to sleep...I do have pics of the kids...but it was on my cell phone...because at that point...I realized I forgot the battery charger with the batteries in it and Treyner had forgotten to pack his belt...

Why you ask did these two things coincide...?

Because while walking to check in for luggage...Treyner was walking with his legs three feet apart...trying to keep his pants from falling to his ankles...

He looked like he had been riding on a bull for 10 hours...without the spurs...

http://www.cartoonstock.com/lowres/bab0057l.jpg

I wanted a picture...and he wanted a belt...both of which were sitting back home...:sad2:

We arrived in Orlando with little problem...the 2 suitcases that were checked came out fast...and then we went to Avis to get our car...

Now Dan had called to let them know a month before...about Baylor's injury...and had asked for an upgrade to a mini van or something with a 3rd row to stretch his leg...they assured him it would be no problem...

On arrival to Avis...it was a problem...there was no room in the inn for any more bigger vehicles...so have your 1 row Trailblazer and like it...

http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/01images/02trailblazer_lt1.jpg

Just like ours but ours was not as shiny and white...and had scratches...
We were all just tired...it was now after 11p.m...and said we will make do...and the three squished into the back...and off we went...

Them thinking we were going to Disney World...Dan and I knowing we were heading to Vero Beach!

After a bit of being turned around...we found the right highway...and after an hour on the road..sleepily...Baylor said...

"Disney wasn't this far last time!"

To be finished tomm...Day 1...finally!

Totally subbing to this! You are a riot!

I also wanted to say that I am sooo glad to hear your son is doing much better.A very close friend of ours had somethign very similar happen to her son in August. Short story version...Her two sons were staying at their friends house(with supposed supervision) The child whose house they were at thought it would be fun to light cologne on fire with a candle. It exploded all over my friend's eldest son. Third degree burns on his face neck and chest. The adult in the house(I use this term loosely)told DFS that it was no worse than a sunburn and to get to bed:scared1: Thankfully,DFS knew enough to grab his younger brother and get outta there. He went to a neighbors house, rushed to the ER and was transportted to Hopkins. He is in much better shape now...and the adult is in some pretty serious troule. It was the scariest thing my DF has ever had to live through, so I completely understand how you must have felt(and I am sure you are still feeling it every day)

Thank you for sharing your friends story...because ours is more similar than you know...did he end up getting skin grafts? The face I know is so hard to graph...I hope he did not have any tissue damage...

I know this is not the compassion forumn..had a site there when all this was going on...but I do want you to make sure your friends son knows about the burn camps offered...not sure how old he is...but it is often covered byfund raisers that burn centers do...please pm me her info or I will give you mine..,no kid deserves to go through this without the ability to connect with others who have experienced similar things...the one Baylor will be going to is in Colorado in August...

They did want to skin graft a portion of his chest, however, he was healing pretty fast(that's one pro to this happening at such a young age)that they decided not to in the end. The before and after pictures are pretty amazing, I have to admit. I was in tears seeing the pix,but the after(even just a few months out)look so good. DFS is still adjusting to the discoloration and does have that same fear your DS has about the reactions of others(DFS is same age actually) but has apparently done very well all things considered.

If you could PM me your information, I will pass it on to my friend. She is not a member of the Dis, but I am sure she would love any info you might have. I don't know if she is aware of the summer camps, but I think that would be an excellent experience for both your son and hers. They do need to know that they are not alone to deal with this and the aftermath.

The kids did not know anything about he trip besides it involved Disney and part of the stay was at OKW in a 2 bedroom. Treyner knew the least...he wanted it all to be a surprise if at all possible.

In fact at the airport when we had do much time before boarding...I told them my original plan of suprising them with a trip...elling them the day we left...they all exclaimed it would not be cool...not at all...thatt hey needed time to prepare...like packing 6 hours before we left vs 5 I guess...but that of course being evil like I am...makes me want to give them another trip surprise and totally surprise them this time...cause if they hate it and freak out...I will sit back and enjoy...videotaping the mayhem behind bullet proof glass...:3dglasses love being an evil mama!

I had my moments...let me tell you...some of the pictures of his leg still give me nightmares...the worst for me is knowing how long he suffered before a call for help was made...I need a boxing class to get over that anger...

Thank you for the support...all of you...:)

PM on the way...and I am so happy he did not need grafting...they were hopefull at first for Baylor as well...but it was obvious within a week that the worst of the burns would not grow new skin...the hard part was his donor site was so large and painfull after the surgery..that that actually was more traumatizing for him than the surgery...

Camps are great because they have a lot to talk about...pain...nightmares...how to deal with peoples reactions etc...and just beinga kidin the middle of teenage life...now being different when all they want to do is blend in...

Baylor is so lucky there was that pool there...it literally saved his life...and that is what I foccus on daily...

Thanks for responding....:lovestruc

I love vero. How cool that you surprised the kids. Although I remember the ride to VB as being somewhat boring. I'm sure that was not a fun ride at night when everyone is tired.

I can't wait to hear about your VB stay and your room. We had the most fabulous view from our 1 BR.

Day 1 Continued - "Can you just smell it?"
There we were...driving to Vero...Dan and I aware of our destination...kids not so much...

But...

They can read...

and when you see signs to Coco Beach...Miami...South America...Antartica...

you might get a clue we are heading south...:confused3

Not my kids...(I guess I might need to address this with their school and get a refund...not that they go to private schools...cause they don't...but I mean I do pay taxes...and there should be some sort of satisfaction guarantee on education don't ya think...at least $1 or so...I am not that greedy...okay...I would insist on $2...who am I kidding...)

So they drifted off to sleep...and we pulled into the city of Vero Beach after taking a new route...and then...

TAAAADAAAA....

http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/img/verobeachsign.JPG

Exactly what it looked like minus the sun and ours had some Christmas balls on it...(I was not into my Kathy Kodak mode yet...)

I hopped out of the vehicle...went up the stairs and waited for the lone man on the night watch to wake up and get me my keys...it took about 5 minutes...no kidding I can tell you that I could have stolen all the tree ornaments not stapled down...because there was no one who showed up until I dinged the dinger 5 times...

He had our stuff ready...of course it is about 2 am by now so no one else was showing up late..and in less than a minute we were ready to go...

I got back out into the car...and as soon as I was seated...Treyner jumped up from behind me and squeezed my shoulders...beyond excited and said...

"Mommmmm...we are at Vero aren't we...!"

What Dan told me later was that Treyner woke up while I was gone..looked all around him...figured out where we were...and freaked out..but he felt bad I wasn't there...so pretended to sleep so he could try and give me his surprise reaction all over again...:lovestruc

We woke the rest of the kids up...and they were so happy...Baylor was ecstatic...

We got into our room...quieter than they were when they were little...no running in the halls...a lot to do with the fact I threatened death I am sure...:wizard:

We had an ocean view room...and the first thing the kids did was fling open the patio door...and take in the smells and the sounds of the ocean...

And Treyner...claimed he was sleeping on the deck...and that was it...

So the baby porta crib was pulled out...the matress/mat was used as a sleeping buffer from the patio floor...and my 18 year old son...6'3 and 185 pounds...grabbed a bedspread...and a pillow...and was good to go...

I was not going to argue...because this made me want to cry...and confirmed the fact that next trip...is all Vero...and all beach...cause there is no place that makes my kids happier than the ocean...

Can you just smell it?

When they were younger ...the first year we went to Vero ...I am guessing 1999...the kids never left the water...we would go up to the campfire at evening....and everyone else was dressed nicely...having showered and enjoyed dinner...not us...kids in swimsuits with chocolate marshmallow faces...it was awesome!
And that is how we fell asleep..at 2:30 am roughly...and happy as heck....to be in Florida...

I am sure you are waiting for Day 2...and I have loads of pics...so I will start that now...No really..I am serious!:rolleyes1

Day 2 - "Where's the Beach?"

[B]I am an early riser...never sleep it... drives me crazy sometimes...but today...I was greatful...because I was up at 6am..before the sun...stepped onto the patio....over Treyner...and greeted the day...:cool2:

[COLOR="Red"]Treyner's bedding reminants after he moved inside!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000034-4.jpg
A site I wish I woke up to every Day!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000036-2.jpg

Baylor was up as well...and I asked him if he wanted to head down to the water with me...no one else was moving...or cared when they heard what we were doing...:sad2:

We threw on clothes...and I know I looked like heck...but I did not care...Baylor even wore a pair of my sparkle flip flops  ... since his were never found from the past summer...

The lobby was empty...we walked down to the path that leads around the back of the resort...and noticed all the upgrades to the overlook and the staircase leading down to the beach...we had not been there since March 2005 and much had been lost to a hurricane...

The second we hit the sand...Baylor started to perk up...he went barefoot...rolled up his jeans...and we both walked along the water...watching the sun creeping into the sky...we had the whole beach to ourselves...and that will be one of my keepsake memories of this trip...

Baylor and me...and me watching Baylor timidly put his foot into the water...not sure how his graft site will feel...not knowing what he will feel since so much sensation had been lost...

I assured him that the doctors said the salt water would be great...no worries...but he still hesitates...not sure anymore...more cautious than he has ever been...and that makes me sad...because those rambunctious boy moments when I wondered what was he thinking...that can drive you crazy...are what makes him Baylor...and he needs to get back to that...God help me...but I miss it...:sad1:

I took some pics of those first few moments...and they are the best...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000040.jpg

We walked for about 20 minutes...talking about how far he had come...remembering the first time he tried to stand after his surgery and could not make it more than 2 feet...and now...a month later...walking minus crutches or wheelchairs...just on his own power...

We explored the sand and the story the ocean leaves behind when it throws it's memories onto the shore...little pieces of history and remnants of creatures that live a life we can only imagine about...

About 5 minutes into the walk...Baylor found a perfect shell...and held it...looking thoughtfully...and then...

Baylor asked if the animals that lived in the shells left behind...ever wondered what happened to their old shell...did they have memories of what it had been...or did they only know the now...

Pretty profound...and I kept my composure…and carefully said what I thought...

I told him that they may have some memory of the old....but God provided them with a new shell...a new skin...a way to protect themselves that was different than before...but just as good...and maybe even stronger…better.

He just nodded...and we walked on...

We started seeing a few other walkers...found some more great shells...and decided we should not be selfish...even if the rest did not know that it was for their own good...and get them up...and start the day...

We met a couple on their last day of the vacation that were new to DVC...spoke a bit…they were from the East Coast...and had given a DVC stay to their daughter and husband as a wedding gift...then they had the thought grandkids might come soon...and bought more points! :lmao:

Baylor and I headed up to the room...woke up the kids and Dan...and we all got ready to head down to breakfast at Shutters. We decided since we were not going to have dinner till late...we needed a big breakfast...

The first ones ready were Dan, Baylor and I...and so we headed down to get a table...passing into the reception area of Shutters...we came across a TV room...playing classic Disney cartoons...there we lost Baylor as he sat...

Treyner and Carsyn followed downstairs within a few minutes...and I got pics of them watching the classics...
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000044-1.jpg
Then we left to get our table...and the boys...did not follow...:happytv:

I do not know why...but there is something to being at a Disney property and watching old shows that fascinates them...always has...

So the three of us were seated...assured the waitress that there were 5 in the party...and then...looked over the menu...and placed the orders...including the ones for the boys...who were still glued to the tube...

I figured...snooze ya looze...no ordering what you want for you...choices and consequences my little cherubs...choices and consequences...

They showed up...with coloring crayons and menus for kids...and proceeded to spend the next 15 minutes...coloring...happy as clams...and deciding who had the best of the menus to color...:teacher: Ahemm..competitive party of 3 ..competitive party of 3 please!

Then I had to take a pic of Dan and Baylor...who are really great friends now after Dan spent so much time with him while he was in the hospital...
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000047.jpg
The food there...was overall...blech...and that is being nice...

I ordered an omelet and grits...McDonald has better eggs and theirs stinks...really rubbery and not fresh tasting...

Dan had corned beef hash skillet...and American potatoes…not fried...very raw tasting...

Baylor wolfed down his Mickey waffle with strawberries...but for an adult portion at $9...not big at all...

Carsyn had a breakfast burrito...and it was massive...she liked the flavor and said it was good...

Treyner had...cinnamon French toast with bananas…not great and also small and not filling...he ate off my plate and Dan's and Carsyn's...

I was disappointed because last time we had had great food...and the place was empty...so I am not sure why the eggs were bad...unless they had been cooked before and were sitting...

We finished up...and got ready to start our day...after a few pics...

hey Dawn-

I am so glad you finally posted about Vero. It's so great that your kids were so excited about Vero. I sometimes take the ocean for granted because I live so close to it (little over an hour), but I felt the magic at Vero and I hope to go back sometime.

Sorry your breakfast was so blah. We never ate at Shutter's, although I wished we had tried it. Did you try that little pizza place that was right on the corner. We ordered take out from there one evening and it was very good. Plus, with our ocean view, it was better than dining out. No view could compare.

Sorry you are having trouble with photobucket. Maybe you could copy some of my photos and post them. See my June trip report. I posted lots of Vero pics and I have hundreds more on my computer.

Wow, over a year to plan, you are going to have the greatest time putting that together :goodvibes

Yes, I did read your PTR and TR all in one day, one sitting actually, but in my defense, I decided to take a lazy, internet reading day before going back to work today! There was no need really, because after only 4 hours of work today, they sent me home due to lack of sales and service calls. So, here I am looking for someone's trip to live vicariously through!

I feel like I know Baylor, after reading your PTR. Gosh, I can almost feel how your heart ached to see his hesitation. He has my prayers for a full emotional recovery. The mental is so much more difficult than the physical.

Day 2 - Boogie Boards are Not Flubber Friendly

After annoying my kids with pictures, the boys headed up to the room to get suits on. Carsyn, Dan and I thought we would just sit and relax on chairs. Then it got warmer. The sun came out and it was going to be glorious...:beach: When you live in Minnesota and it is sub zero, you think 70 is the face of the sun!

Here is a stolen pic of the beach ...gotta love Vero...

http://www.pixiedust-travel.com/sitebuilder/images/Disney_Vero_Beach_Resort-231x309.jpg

So when the boys were back for awhile and they had not died from hypothermia in the water, we decided to head up to the room, pack our stuff and come back down all beachied. I rented 2 boogie boards for the boys and then went to our room. From the deck we could see them and I loved to just sit there and watch. Treyner getting pummeled by waves...Baylor getting knocked tukkus over tea kettle...and both getting back up and doing it all over again. :yay:

We decided to play "move the suitcase" with all our stuff to create an empty small carry on for the clothes we would change into after the beach. And shampoo and really good conditioner... because my hair is naturally curly. Which means nothing to those with nice straight hair...but to Carsyn and I...salt water and chlorine = brillo pad...I would have looked like Jimmy "Dynomite" JJ Walker. Without the cool shoes.

Showering would be achieved by breaking into someone's room...after they left. It's really easy to do...just wait a few seconds...they will be half way down the hall before it latches shut...sneak a piece of folded paper inbetween...when they are out of eyesight...quickly get in...It works the best if there is only one or 2 of you...5 gets pretty crazy sometimes. Ya have to get in and out fast...if you forgot any toiletries...borrow a spritz of their Old Spice or fancier Musk...and you are ready to play shuffleboard and look like you belong. :cool2:

or.....

You can shower via the changing room by the main pool. Whichever is easiest. I like having options.

We packed the rest into the suitcases left...brought the luggage down to our vehicle and then...like hobos...tugged our rolling suitcase behind. Because that was the easiest to rearange. Nothing says classy more than a rolling sound...ya know the one...rlllllllll...chickety chickety...rllllllllll...chickety chickety...as it bangs along the outside sidewalk towards the beach. I did my best Queen E wave as those with nice beach totes glanced over...

Does the Queen wave with 1 finger? :lmao:

We bought a resort cup for refills and headed to the beach....Carsyn loves getting looked at by all the current residents of the pool...so I make sure I do my royal wave in the air...waving like I just don't care...rlllllll...chickety chickety....rllllllll...

The lifeguard at the rental stand was happy to hold the suitcase for me as I threw a quarter at him and told him not to spend it all in one place.

We then joined the boys and took turns boogie boarding. Or at least boarding. Some of us sucked. Not saying names...ahem...cough...wheez...gazooonDantight...b ut let's just say that...sputtle...chortle...choke...gaDansp...that I had one great ride...and knew when to quit...but others who sucumb to peer pressure and the fact they never did anything fun and down right crazy in their other adult life...will be talked into giving it a whirl.

Now Dan is a big guy. He is 6'6 and about 330 now...he is probably needing a bigger board...but they did not have boards in size ranges...no XXL available and I am not talking weight...but at 6'6, the board looked like it hit him mid nipple from his shoulders vs waist on the boys.

So Treyner and I decide he needs help after he drank part of the ocean and there were fishies swimming behind his eyes...:fish:

Treyner goes out there and tries to explain the timing of it all...the right distance before you paddle like heck...and...the next wave crested....wait for it...wait for it....

Blammo...

Dan got tossed faster than a salad...like what a killer whale does to a seal...:teacher:

I could not believe the air he achieved in such a short distance...remarkable actually...:yay:

Ohh...sorry...not a laughing moment...:rolleyes1

He came out of that surf like a fighter...punching...kicking and that was only because he could not get the board off his wrist fast enough to javilin it into the next universe...

Then...I realised he got some scratches on his back...and they were pretty good and bloody considering he was wearing a t-shirt...and I felt bad...for a moment...

He came and sat down on the beach like a kid who fell off his bike for the 30th time in an hour...and it was cute...cause he is such a big toddler...if I had only had my camera...now...looking back...he would have even laughed...cause he was saying..."my eyes hurt...my back is all scratched...you made me do it...I was not having any fun..." and I just sat there...giggling at him...asked him if he wanted his woobie...and that next time he would show that ole board who was boss...

Then he laughed...and realised he was just mad he got his @ss kicked by a wave...and we moved on...good times...good times...

The kids kept swimming...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000062.jpg
We had also got a football up by the main pool...so we threw that around for awhile...played keep away...and then...after about 3 hours...headed up to change around 1:30p.m.

We decided to swim in the chlorine for a bit at he pool. Baylor was very hesitant. He knew the ocean was okay, but here were people and that meant stares at his bandage. I told them they probably would think it was an ace wrap for a sprain and try it out.

We were in the pool a good 5 minutes before he wandered over to the hot tub...I joined him...then..they announced they were having a pool slide competition. Treyner and Dan were all for it...Carsyn and I decided we did not want to make fools of ourselves (refer to PTR if you are out of the loop...page 2..) and Baylor was still being shy.

http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/img/verobeach_pool_slide_3.JPG
They time you from the start of the slide to impact with the water to se who has the greatest speed...kids group, womens and mens. Treyer had one of the fastest times right away...beat Dan...which shows that speed is also great if you only have shoulder blades and heels touching the slide...

Then they had a second round ...and Baylor decided to go...it was awesome...the lifeguard at the top noticed he had not gone in the first round...and made a big deal for him...I love her for that...

In the end...Treyner had 1st place...got a ribbon and all....then we finally hit the showers...boys first...and Carsyn and I played ping pong...or tried to take off each others head with missle like mini balls as we like to play...we just really are not coordinated...and the little blue haired lady who kept getting pegged...was really a good sport...she only threatened to call security after 10 minutes...::cop: I would have only taken it for 5...

I also spent about 1 hour at this point...ordering Treyner's birthday cake from the cake hot line. Which I lost the number of...Vero did not have...and I had to wait for minutes on end with 407 W DINE...

Finally talked to the bakery at Boardwalk...described the cake I wanted...and they said they would have it ready for me the next night...for $54...I was so hoping it would be good...great maybe even...

Once we were all spiffied and Treyner and Baylor had lost their round with Ping Pong Grandma...we played a round of putt putt..

I am very competitive...I hate to loose and esp. at mini golf...we laughed...we made fun..but serious as a heart attack..do not touch my ball when it is in play or I will take your head off with a swing of my $8.95 club.

In the end...I lost only to Dan...Treyner and kids were under me..and as long as I beat Treyner...my day is good. We then took off for the car.

They had a gingerbread scene in the lobby...so cute..
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Vero%20Dec%202008/00000065.jpg
I do not have pics of this as my camera memory was full..and I needed to get one from Wally World later that evening...

We left Vero around 4:30 p.m. and got a bite to eat at Olive Garden. Treyner and Dan had Chicken Alfredo Pizza, I had Spaghetti with sausage well done, Carsyn had Fettucini Alfredo and Baylor... Baylor had Sphagetti with meatballs.

Good meal...good fun...we were starving since we had not eaten since breakfast...

They sang to Treyner for his birthday...and he was beet red...so I did my job there too...

Next stop was Wal Mart...for memory card and some snackies for our new home...

Condo with 2 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms...all Mickified!:woohoo:

I know this may sound crazy to many of you...but I really take this writing seriously and I could not begin to tell you the joy I get from reliving the details of this trip. With all of you. It just seems to diminish the writing style I have and clarity I like to write with when so many heavy things are on the horizon. Day 2 - "My Crack is Better Than Yours"

We left Vero about 7 pm. or so and headed to Kissimmee and took a different route that shaved off at least 40 minutes of our drive...got there in about 1:40 doing the speed limit.

In doing so..we drove through Kissimmee proper and saw...(please play music of angels  singing and the heavens opening!)

"Nike Clearance":faint:

Now this is not the Nike Outlet...in fact...it only stated Clearance...and I made a mental note that we needed to head back there before our trip was over. :drive: The kids wanted to go right then...but I promised a later trip back.

My kids love Nike...Treyner is a shoe floozy...worse than Imelda herself and if I can get me some sneakers at a deeper than debt discount...I have a moment as good as Godiva. ::yes::

We had directions to our townhouse we would be staying at when not at OKW...and found it with little effort.

I grabbed some bags from the car and Treyner followed me up to finagle the lock box that contained the key since he knows I am handicapped with anything involving coordination.

We walked into the hallway and was greeted by the nicest place! As soon as you enter the place...a nice sized kitchen is to the left (all Mickey decked with appliances and dishes) and to the right is the kids bedroom with 2 twin beds and the washer dryer closet and kids bathroom.

Straight ahead was the dining room and living room with a nice sized screen porch. Off to the right of the living room was a master bed and bath.

The entire place was gorgeous and decked to the hilt with nice furnishings and all the home amenities you could want. Gorgeous color palette :artist: on the walls and 2 extra twin cots for whomever could not sleep in beds!

This my friend was rec'd for $60 a night. :hyper: Great deal and was plenty of room. It takes about 10-12 minutes to get on property from the resort...so close...and I am glad we stayed...but it was not the same as on property. I would stay there again if the need arose...vs. any hotel off property...but if I can stay with the Mouse...I will.

Here are some pics of the place!

http://images.vrbo.com/vrbo/images/b9822

http://images.vrbo.com/vrbo/images/c779f

http://images.vrbo.com/vrbo/images/aa550
http://images.vrbo.com/vrbo/images/1e8b98

The kids were amazed at how nice it was and liked their own room with play station and closet space!

Carsyn took a cot and was glad to have the living room to use as her space!

We went to bed fairly early that night...and wanted to get up at a decent time to enjoy Universal Studios as our first park day.

I had vowed not to be kamikaze planner this trip and sleep in a bit and go with the flow at the parks...

Because...I have been that psycho nut job who over plans and obsesses about the clock. In fact...one time...during a trip that involved AK when it first opened...I might have gone a tad bit overboard.

Ya see...they talked about how busy the park was and the fact that you needed to be there really early or lines would be bad bad bad...and I ...the overachiever I am...listened...too well..

I got everyone up so early that the sun was still hibernating...so early that Willard Scott was only dreaming of old people and jelly...so early that the ticket people at the parking lot...were not even there to take money yet...:sad2:

Yup...how many of you can say you were the first at a parking pass counter? I can...and if you wait long enough for them to come...they just laugh at you...they do not feel sorry for your OCD issues...they do not give you a discount and there was no one to hand me a certificate or dream of any kind...

But there was 3 kids...who said...never again...and have never let me forget the day I was worried about overcrowding...cause the hour wait after that in the sun :beach: waiting for them to open the main gates...was so fun...with everyone around us being told that we were here before the parking lot was open so we are used to waiting...

Yet I know that I had charitable work done that day...there were spouses who were equally perturbed at the crack of dawn wake up call they rec'd as well...yet they...knew they were not as bad off as they could have been...because they were only woken at the crack...

which is in the backside...
not the shin of dawn...
where I kicked my family...
cause that's how I roll... :rotfl2:

It's definitely one or the other.:confused3

Alright, in all seriousness, you all deserve an explanation.

I hate being sappy. I hate being sad. The truth is after the last time I posted, I could not get happy looking or thinking back to that vacation.

Not because we did not have a great time.

Not because I do not want to take us all back again.

It was just hard.

Painfull.

Heartwrenching to think about.

For you who have read this story, you know that Baylor was burned in an accident last Halloween.

What you don't know and what I did not realize either, was how devastated I was at the core of my being because I had spent so much time helping him, healing him, pampering him - that I did not let what had happened hit me.

On the surface I did - but I rarely cried, I rarely let myself think about anything but how to make Baylor better and Baylor fit in and Baylor gain weight and Baylor be Baylor.

The truth though, last spring, hit me like I have never been hit before. Because he will never be Baylor before the accident. He will never be exactly the same. He will always be Baylor who was burned. He will always bear the scars that causes him stares and have to worry about sunburn because it can lead to re-grafting and figure out how to answer questions or respond to statements when people are just cruel.

His burn will never define who he is, but his burn has made him into who he has become and what he has to deal with every day. There is a difference
in those two things. He does not allow it to stop him from pursuing his dreams, his sports and his love of life. But it does become one of the first things people who interact with him see, wonder about and for some talk about. So even if he wants to put it out of mind and out of sight - he can't and that my friends makes me very angry.

And very sad.

So looking at pics and reminicing about stories of the vacation was too hard for me. It was hard seeing him so thin and frail and remembering that this was the start of me understanding that this burn, this leg - will just be another factor in all of our lives, every day. It is almost a seperate identity attached to him. It has it's own needs, time to care for. It is almost like having a baby again.

You can't just head out to the store or the movies without making sure we have lotion or an extra compression sock. We can't just sit at a park without thinking of shade and sunscreen and an extra sock to go over the compression sock.

I joined a support group for people who had children burned and it was beyond helpful. The first meeting I cried for 20 minutes straight before I could talk. It was very unnerving for someone who does not want to be vulnerable but I needed that. I met parents who shared in the guilt of, "what if's and how did I fail?"

I understand that those things are common amongst parents of kids with illnesses of all kinds and by no means is what happened to Baylor the worst of kids burned or children with life threatening illnesses. I am not trying to compare or contrast anyones sorrows.

I am simply telling you that I needed to deal with my emotions and find ways to handle Baylor. The new Baylor and be okay with being sad the old Baylor will never be exactly the same.

So I needed time to heal myself a bit before I could look back at that vacation. Not be sad about the new look to our pics and sad about the memories of every morning with our new routine. It was so soon after he was burned and I think part of me wanted to look for the old Baylor in my recalling of the days events. He wasn't there and that realization I am ready to accept.

I hope you who may stumble upon this for the first time can please forgive the long rant you may not understand.

I hope those of you who were subscribed and got frusterated since I did not write for so long can keep the faith in me that I will finish this and I appologize for the delay.

I obviously better write with incredible witt now - cause otherwise I may get found and flogged! pirate: Or at least have evil stares sent through the computer at me... which will cause me to collapse into a coma, or a trip to tube top hades...either way involves me neked - which is not good - cause those gowns at the hospital are meant for Callista whats her nuts - Harrison Ford's woman - size people, and if you recall, I am not - so yeah - I beter write...

Thanks for letting me babble!:lovestruc

Funny how emotional healing is so much more of a process than the physical kind isn't it?

Side story that your reply made me think of...on healing.

We went to a family burn camp in northern Minnesota this summer. It had a bunch of families with all different stories but the counseling that the hospital staff put on for the siblings and the parents as well as the survivors was so great.

Baylor got to hear what his brother and sister went through because most of their memories he had no clue about due to the high levels of morphine he was on. Many of the stories I had not heard either because when you are at the hospital for weeks, you have teens who do not tell you many of their encounters or issues because they do not want to add more stress to the situation.

Treyner talked about how hard it was for him to help a nurse pull off a sheet that had stuck to Baylor's leg one night (under the donor skin, that scabs as it heals.) I had no idea that he had been asked to do it because I had gone to the cafeteria.

Baylor was in terrible pain from it, yelled that he hated Treyner for hurting him.

Baylor did not remember any of it. Treyner had lived with the guilt since November 8th. He knew the date. Baylor felt bad he said it, Treyner felt relieved he finally asked Baylor if he forgave him.

I am sure the nurse thought that Treyner at almost 18 could handle it. I am sure at some level there is a desensitation that goes on and for her who have seen this, dealt with it a thousand times in a month, it was not earth shattering.

To Treyner though, it was his brother whom he was supposed to protect and felt guilty for being in Colorado and not home when it happened. So hurting Baylor whether on purpose or not was the point he stuck at and I will tell you that I have never seen my son cry like he did when we talked about it. He had been beating himself up for 7 1/2 months over something Baylor did not even have a clue took place.

The importance of asking the questions you need the answers to really resonated with me that week. To not live yor life by assumptions and innuendos. Also that there is huge power in good things comming out of great sadness.

The social workers from the hospital were appalled that any nurse would put a sibling in that position and said they should have called in another aid or nurse to help. They never thought that something like that could happen with so much training that is done there.

Now, there is a new policy because of that situation on the burn unit that states siblings will not be asked for help in dressing changes. :thumbsup2

Same for me. I was more worried than anything. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing.
Glad you found me and I am looking forward to making you laugh again!
Welcome back.

Again, :grouphug:.

That is perfect and as I started WW last week again - one I will print out and put on my fridge!

BTW: wedding update!

Dan and I after looking at costs for a wedding at Disney at WDW, decided to take our wedding to the beach!

We are planning a wedding at Disney's Vero Beach Resort on the croquet lawn next June! We look forward to spending 4 days before the wedding at WDW, at Vero for a 5 day wedding extravaganza with family and friends and then a 5 day honeymoon sans kids!

This all will cost less than the basic bottom of the line Fairy Tale wedding and with numbers of attendees between 20-30 - we were too big for an Escape wedding pkg.

This means we can invite anyone we want - so friends form the Dis Boards...let me know if you will be in Florida on June 15th, 2010 (it is a Tuesday!)

The more the merrier - plus that means less time I am spending with family so you are actually saving me here! :lmao:

I will start a wedding journal soon and will post the link here! :woohoo:

It is a wonderful family - at times crazy and we have our moments when I need that reminder from you. But those 3 kids would do anything for each other and me and that is rare these days.

My B-day was Sunday - Treyner called at 9:30 a.m. from college on a Sunday when he has been having 8 hour soccer practice in the 98 degree heat for a week. That is love.

Carsyn and Baylor are learning how to adapt to a house minus their big brother and no one has been killed yet - That is love.;)

I am happy you stopped by! Let me know what you thought of the PTR. The chances of an accident like Baylor's is small but not uncommon. Make an appointment for any kids or grandkids for yearly fire station updates and find out if local burn units hold any educational classes. 99% of burns are preventable and most involve at least 1 of 3 things.

Alcohol, fire pits and gasoline.

With the popularity of home fire pits, - the beds on the unit Baylor was at have been full all summer and mostly with kids. They have had to hire more docs because the problem is on the rise.

BTW: Is there a "Un-Crafty" Dawn title? Cause it would be mine.

I am stellar at painting ideas and home decorating stuff but I have 0 craft talent beyond that. And that is not a craft anyway - more of a knack. Or style - or heck, sheer luck. :worship:

When I was in 7th grade Art, I drew a Duran Duran concert stage. Each day I had to show my art teacher the progress I had made so he knew we were not just screwing around in class.:rolleyes1

So I went up all proud and he said:

"Well Dawn, I can tell that there is a drum kit in the back and a microphone but why are there pizza flippers hanging from the ceiling?"

I was horrified he could not tell they were stage lights.

Okay, not horrified.

Maybe it was angry.

Humiliated perhaps?

How bout embarrased.

Cause he was right.

It looked like Simon LeBon had contracted with Pizza Hut to design their new and improved concert ensemble.

Now though, I think they should have.

We all still can find a Pizza Hut.

How many teens can belt out "The Reflex," or "Hungry Like the Wolf," and even I could settle for "Wild Boys?" :lmao:

***I literally just threw out my Duran Duran scrapbook of stuff about 2 months ago when getting ready for Treyner's grad party. If it is ever worth something I will kick myself! The chances are small but I will. I did not part with the ever popular Duran Duran game though! How many of you have that? :confused3:rotfl2:

Dawn, what is your middle name? I take a poll every time I meet a Dawn. 99% have one in particular - I think it was a rule.

I also have not met a Dawn born after 1978. I think it is a name that went with an era. But now there is a resurgence of names like "Grace" and "Addi." so maybe one day my great, great grandaughter will be named after me. Or it will continue on the trend of my kids with having more unusual names.

Like, "Moon Crater."

Let's just hope she doesn't have acne!:rotfl:

I have a 10 year old DD who is now playing academy soccer. Now I take the title "Soccer Mom" as a compliment! Just wish I could get DD15 to also play soccer so I wouldn't be trying to clone myself to be in two places at once (soccer with DD10 and track/cross country with DD15). Forget DH...he coaches girls' softball and boys' basketball so he's not around much...three sporting events in three different places all on the same day...gotta love it! I think Brett Favre is one of the best NFL players. EVER. That being said, I think he's a FOOL to un-retire ... not once ... but twice. He could've left Green Bay as an all-time legend but his legacy is now tarnished in an irreversible way in the eyes of many. There are many in WI that still love Favre because he's Favre but there are many that don't. I would never wish pain, agony or defeat on anyone but I wouldn't mind if every defense gunned extra hard for Favre this year.

Have you ever read Deanna Favre's book? It's a good read but I would love to see a new ending written to it ... just to hear her take on the last couple of years.

Baylor had orientation today and he looked all cute in his khaki shorts and white polo. Girls were comming uip to him and asking how he was healing so I think he is feeling pretty good about himself right now!

i am new to this party, found your TR yesterday, and then noticed that yo u had a PreTR so read that first and i have to say your writing style is great, reminds me of myself in my reports.

your family is wonderful, and all the stories you have shared are great...you can tell that you are a great mother to your children and care very much for them.

i was so sorry to hear of your sons story and then what you went through this summer and spring...i have always lived by the fact that stuff does happen for a reason and that nothing is by chance. your son will have a story about what happened to him and somewhere down the line it will help others and i am sure it already has...who knows his story could have kept another kid that he knew from getting hurt or possibly worse in a same kind of situation.

anyway, hope that came out how i wanted, i have a tendancy to write but it always does not come out how i wanted it too...so hope it did not get you upset in anyway.

but what i was going to comment on was that we are also going to be in disney that time next summer, we are going the 6th june to the 18th of june...maybe we will cross paths on the first part of your trip...i dont have a PreTR for that yet was going to wait till after christmas to start it up.

congrats on the wedding comeing up and looking forward to the rest of your TR...

I am trying guys! DEaling right now with a college son in Colorado who needs books and his father who was supposed to take care of them. I don't want to bash anyone but I am ticked off and my hands are tied 24 hours away! Helpless!

Baylor had orientation today and he looked all cute in his khaki shorts and white polo. Girls were comming uip to him and asking how he was healing so I think he is feeling pretty good about himself right now!

I keep thinking we should have a Dis meet for all us Midwest fans. I think my grandfather is rolling over in his grave over all the new stadiums in MN ( Twins - opens next spring -and Gophers - just opened - and Viikings want one too) being built that used to share one. They are beautiful but man are they spendy! Do you know how many trips to Disney I could have with just 1/1000 of one? But alas, I do not come with hot dogs, peanuts, foam fingers, bobble heads or beer. Just banana bread and pecan pie bars! :lmao:

I think a Dis meet would be great, I don't live in the Midwest though but do visit family every so often...

Sorry to hear that you have "Ex" issues right now. I know ALL about that. Luckily mine have lessened over the years (and it's not MY Ex :lmao:)
I married into an Ex...Blech...

I have a sister-in-law named Dawn Marie and my husband has 2 co-workers named Dawn Marie ... all born in the early 70s. Yep, it was really popular back then. Can't tell you how many Jennifer Lynns I know, too.
I think it was written in the Declaration of Independence. Write after the part about the right to Bear Arms! Except if they wave when you do. :lmao: Then comes the part of the fact you ahve the right to go to WW. Or don't wear tank tops. Your choice!
I think a Dis meet would be great, I don't live in the Midwest though but do visit family every so often...
Let me know - ny other Dis fand in the midwest wanna meet?

Hello Dawn!

I'm so glad to have you back on track. You are a super talented writer and just hilarious!!!!! I lurk around the disboards A LOT but had to post cause I'm so happy you're back :lovestruc

It's good to hear that your family is working on moving forward. Isn't funny how life continues whether you are ready or not: school's starting again and you are getting married! Congrats

I am simply telling you that I needed to deal with my emotions and find ways to handle Baylor. The new Baylor and be okay with being sad the old Baylor will never be exactly the same.

This quote really got me teary eyed. I am also a mother of 3 and have a 16yr old DS that had a difficult year with panic attack and general anxiety. He's been out of school since April. The school has provided him with a tutor but the stress of this is almost too much to bear at times. He didn't go through any physical harm and hospital stays like Baylor so I don't pretend to know all that your family went through. All of this must be heart wrenching. Take all the time you need :grouphug: We'll be waiting ;)

I have said told this before to many people -
My pastor once told me, "God tries to tap you on the shoulder when he has a message for you - if you chose not to listen, he hits ya with a shovel."

There has been many lessons learned about priorities and being a better parent that this incident with Baylor has taught me. It has also focused Baylor about many things he took lightly before and changed his outlook on friends he has. He used to think, if I am not doing something stupid than what can it hurt hanging around people who sometimes do stupid things.

Now - his facebook page has a memo to his friends saying, "If you are going to do something dumb or illegal - do not ask me to be a part of it. I want to get good grades and have a year with no problems with school or friends or my family."

I have never been so proud of him for not worrying about what he might loose (friends/peers/being asked to go places or hang out) but more worried about what he will gain.

For a 13 year old boy - that is huge!

Day 3 - "Humor at a Fish Fry"

(Looking back at our pictures, I have no idea how this day's pics got deleted but they did so if I can steal pics, I will.
Who am I kidding.
If I find people about the same age but way better looking than us I will post them as us. It's not like I know you and I am depleting your enjoyment. In fact it may increase mine.:thumbsup2)

I woke up to the front door of the condo being shut as Treyner went out for a run. It was the only run he went on the whole trip so don't think he is an amazingly dedicated athlete or anything! :rotfl2:

I showered and motivated the kids and Dan and got breakfast going for everyone.

Carsyn is notoriously late when we leave for anywhere. It had been discussed that she would be left if she missed the cut off for departure. She knew I was serious and so she was the first one up and showered. Treyner walked in and saw she was dressed and almost passed out from shock. That and the fact he had not run consistently since soccer but I am sticking with Carsyn as the main factor!

We had plans to head to Universal http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/00/4d/89/universal-entry.jpgfor the day and leave by 4 p.m. because we were having a Dis meet with friends from a weight loss thread that night.

Parked in the King Kong lot and made our way from the parking garage to City Walk. Dan had never been to any Universal park before so I was excited to watch his reactions. I have to say that I love the whole time it takes to get to City Walk. Probably really corny to many people but there is a mental process for me when I move from that parking garage through the walkways to unwind and get in the mood of Universal. The breeze blowing through the open air, onto that moving walkway, is just plain enjoyable. I try to slow us down and not speed walk past. Rather, sit back and enjoy the ride. It’s the same reason why I love the People Mover at MK. I find it tranquil to not be cooped up in a line or feel rushed like in many aspects of the park or in our daily lives.
http://janetong.com/image_gallery/data/p1470988-675-x-900.jpg
Great butt shot of me and Dan.

Once inside the gates, we made a decision to purchase the Universal dining plan. I had never heard of it before so let me brief you who may not know about it, the details.

The ticket was $20 for one day/one park, for adults. For that sum of cash you were allowed to eat unlimited amounts of food at selected counter service restaurants Even though we had eaten a few hours ago, we were all starving and thought this sounded good. With three teens that eat 24/7, it was worth a try. These tickets did not count for drinks but since we drink water for the most part - it was still a good deal.

A side note -
We do not usually eat a lot in one sitting and instead we graze so we decided to get 3 passes to split. They give you wristbands and we decided on which three were going to have the responsibility to get food every time we went up. Treyner usually eats at least 2 meals and the rest of us split so Carsyn, I and Treyner got the wristbands. This meant Treyner could go up as much as he wanted without bugging everyone else.

Before I get flogged, I know that you are not supposed to share food but tough luck. At some point I have to be budget conscious and I was not willing to throw $40 dollars away. I also bring my own candy into a movie theater so there! ;) Call me evil and I will relish in the entertainment! Roll in the battle cries of the thrifty. Yell jubulations of victory for the cheap. Or just high five Dan for making a good decesion.

The others make me feel like Braveheart which is much sexier than Martha Stewart.

Literally you hang a right in Universal and Louie's Italian restaurant http://www.family-vacation-getaways-at-los-angeles-theme-parks.com/images/5Pizza2.jpgwas there. We walked in and stood in line while Dan and Baylor got us a spot outside. We ordered Chicken tenders and fries x 2 and Treyner got a burger and fries. For dessert they only had the option of chocolate chip cookies and brownies. We took 2 cookies and a brownie. These were wrapped so they slid easily into a purse for later enjoyment.

I will say that the food here was the best we had all day even though the fares offered at other locations were similar. The fries were crisp and the tenders were not over processed nuggets of semi-resembled chicken but probably muskrat. Maybe mole. Same family but definitely different.

After we ate, we continued on to "Hollywood" and into the ever popular Terminator 2 3D ride. I have seen it enough times to think it is just silly now but the boys always love the action.

Then we did the Universal Horror Make-Up show! http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/1506/11572381.JPG
Carsyn getting scared!

It was fun because I got selected thanks to my kids and so did Baylor. This was Baylor's first time up in an audience format/or any gameetc. where peoplwe would be staring at him and I was nervous. The plot is they are re-creating a horror pic and we are all extras.

Baylor was supposedly having to swim for his life and wore a yellow rain coat and had to paddle backwards. He was a great sport. Nobody asked him about his leg so he and I were both relieved. I was asked to scream for as long as I could and it was really embarrassing. Not the screaming part but being in front of everyone as well as on screen. I am not exactly in camera shape. Me and Speilberg have been discussing this as my only setback in starring in his next motion picture extravaganza alongside Will Smith. Something about not being as pleasing to the eye as Beyonce.

The nerve.

Next up was ET! http://inlinethumb04.webshots.com/40579/2540570390025593064S425x425Q85.jpg
Do you like my new glasses?

I still think that they ripped off Peter Pan but it has some nice effects. Esp. when they have the computer at the end read off the people in your party. If I remember right someone put the name Fart Knocker. No matter how old you are a computer saying "Fart Knocker" in it's cryptic genertated voice is a bust o' gut moment.

It was here we all took a bathroom break and the kids reminisced about being little and enjoying the play zone. Then before I knew what had happened, Baylor was in tears. Not just a few tears but a whole sob, red faced, snot coming out of the nose, experience. He had tripped over his own feet and what could have been just a laugh at clumsiness, had now turned into a serious situation. He had stutter stepped and the back of his right foot scraped his heel on his left leg.
His grafted leg.

He was and still is, at that boy stage, where their feet are bigger than their body should allow. At 5'4 and 98 pounds at the time, he wore a size 11 shoe.

Well because the skin is so fragile and what for you or I would be a simple scrape, caused him to loose a chunk of skin about an inch and half long. He was bleeding everywhere, into his shoe, all over his socks and it was not about to stop.

Treyner ran to the bathroom to get paper towels, I took off his shoe as fast as I could and we all just sat there shell shocked. In 2 seconds it went from a great time to Baylor wanting to leave and saying he felt like a cripple. The tears were coming down so fast that he was wiping them with his whole arm. He was embarrassed people were stopping to ask us if we needed help, he was angry his socks would be wet if we washed them off and he was worried it would hurt him to walk.

I just slowly convinced him that this would be okay. We put Band-Aids on his ankle, decided to ditch one of the socks he was wearing and changed out his sun block sock. It took about 45 minutes before we were ready to move on and it was a slow go. He did not want a wheelchair. I understood but it was hard to not be able to hug him. What he would let me get away with for attention towards him in the privacy of our home or his hospital room was not okay in public.

**I forgot to mention this before but due to Baylor's injury we had gotten a guest assistance pass for those people who had disabilities or problems standing and their party. It was the best thing we did that trip. At first Baylor hated it. He hated having the extra attention and hated feeling like he was cutting in line. There of course was people who watched us passing and we did get glares. Treyner was a huge help here. He kept telling Baylor that he was lucky and that Treyner would have to have Baylor come with him on all of his trips since the gimp got stares from hot girls. Not appropriate maybe for some families but two teen boys in this house are not going to sit back and hug and sing Kumbayah. It did show to Baylor that Treyner thought it was okay for the extra help and Baylor looks to Treyner for approval all the time.

We wanted to see Fear Factor but it was a while before they opened seating so we headed to Jaws instead of waiting in line. http://www.themedattraction.com/jaws.jpg It had been a long time since we went on Jaws and Baylor lead the line for seating. He got in first and sat at the far left of the boat. We were jetting around the bay with a guide who was beyond lame when the part that you as a rider, wait for.

You know the one, where Jaws blows up.
http://thm-a01.yimg.com/image/1c3b2a701e7b404e
In the center of the bay.

And there is a huge ball of flames.

And it gets really hot.

Scorching hot.

For the person esp. who is seated at the left of the boat seat.

Where Baylor was sitting.

If there was a slow motion video of all of us I would attach it as an insert here. But there is not.

I will just have to explain that 4 people yanked there head towards the fireball, not away, like common sense would tell you. We all could have had caption bubbles over our heads in a photo saying, "OH NO." In what was only a matter of a few seconds we sat and waited for an eternity to see what Baylor's reaction was going to be. In the hospital he had asked to change a channel that had car crashes on it with flames. My heart stopped as I watched his body signals as he leaned closer to me.

Then my Baylor, who has a sense of humor most times, that is enough to make you want to pee yourself, swiveled his head like on the Exorcist and said:

"Sure. Make the burn kid sit next to the flames. Nice family." :lmao:

And with a smile that showed he hated and loved us all at the same time, we laughed and laughed and laughed. The people on the boat thought we were nuts but that meant we were going to be totally okay.

Me and Dan. Notice how I got darker after the day progressed? Never underestimate the Florida sun!

He is so funny and I was laughing again replaying that moment while I wrote.

He now is the fire marshall of the home and insists on starting all fires in the grill or in the portable pit. I have heard that is very common for kids and adults. They feel more in charge having control over a situation that when burned, they had none.

When they were at the burn camp in Colorado the older kids went off for a overnight expedition and it involved roasting fish they caught over a fire.

Willy, a boy with major burns on his face said, "30 kids with fire issues are here. What could possibly go wrong?" :rotfl2:

The kids have the best sense of humor and really have learned how to embrace themsleves and their imperfections and laugh at each other and with each other.

YOu hit on what is probably the most frustrating piece of this whole thing for me.

Never knowing what is going to cause him damage and not being overprotective about him. He is playing football starting on Wed. and that sport offers no protection for his lower leg like soccer or even hockey. I am going to talk to the coach and find out if he can wear shin pads from soccer for at least something. I iwll probably call him today so it is not mentioned in front of other kids.
Are you still sporting that tan????:rotfl:

I wish!

Another side story you reminded me of...
When Treyner was young (3-5) he went to a daycare part time that had a white mom and an African-American dad. Treyner never saw the Dad because Gary left for work before Treyner got there. They had a beautiful daughter named Stephanie who was Treyner's age.

Well one day, at age 4, Treyner got on a kick about eating Wheaties. It lasted for about 3 days and I mean it was for every meal, every snack etc. popcorn:: I kept thinking, "Well it is not a sugared cereal. It is just a phase. He is just testing his boundaries blah blah blah."

Day 4 comes and I decide  my son needs a nutritional education and give him a flow chart, read him the food pyramid and become the Food Networks food guru on health and your body. Mr. Rogers would have been proud. :teacher:

He was polite and waited for me to put my laser pointer and spread sheets away and then paused...

And stated:

"I am eating Wheaties because I want to be tan like Stephie. Michael Jordan is tan like Stephie and he eats Wheaties and he says if you want to be like him than you should eat Wheaties."...:lmao:

There my friends is where I had to control my bladder and not make light of what to him was basic math.:teacher:

Wheaties + Michael Jordan = Stephie/Tan

I was proud of the fact I had raised a son who could look pass the color barrier this country had suffered with. I was proud he looked at all skin types as beautiful. I was proud that he fell for basic commercial advertising like any good, God fearing child should do in this consumer market we live in. :happytv:

I was not proud that I, with all my social education and world peace mantras for my son, had forgot to enlighten this little cherub about science.

White Mommy + White Daddy = Good flippin luck being Tan. :rotfl2:

Remid me to tell ya later about Treyner and the Scrooge McDuck pile of money under his bed sometime!

Sidebar**** Treyner just called from Colorado to say he wanted to talk to me on his first day of school. He said it was the first time in his whole life I was not there to take a picture. (Or in reality the first few days since some years I forgot film and we faked it like it was the first day! :lmao:)

Hi Dawn! I've been unintentionally lurking for a couple of days while I got caught up on your TR! I did start reading your PTR too, but only because I needed to read the story on page 2. Keep in mind, I was at work when I read that. Thankfully, I was at least smart about my timing and almost everyone else had left for the day. But here I am, shrunk down in my chair so that my cubicle walls hide my bright red face and the tears pouring out of my eyes from laughing so hard.

And just as an FYI - apparently if you are too LIGHT, you will get the same reaction on those water slides. We went to Water Country up in Vermont several years ago...my brother (who is 22 now :scared1:) was about 7 at the time, and he and my cousin (who is the same age), weighed about 100lbs soaking wet and holding the hose COMBINED (skinny litte twerps!). So...they go flying down this water slide and at one point, the tube actually went up the side of the tunnel and was upside down in there! Of course, it just so happened that they were at the END of the ride where there is a HUGE gush of water to get you outta there...so my cousin comes out, then the raft, then my brother, face first and upside down. He hit his head on the top of the tunnel and ending up biting his lip so bad my mother thought him and cousin got into a fist fight. :sad2: Those rides and my bum are not friends so I play in the wave pool while all of the crazies in my family (we're Italian so that would be almost all of us) do all the psycho rides.

I love love love your TR so far (and naturally what I've read of the PTR) and I am looking forward to reading more! Your whole family is beautiful inside and out! Congrats on your engagement, too! I am thinking about a WDW wedding myself...not engaged but still thinking about it. Although I was considering an Epcot wedding...we'll see, I guess!

What do you do for work? Could it be good reading at the lunchroom? You could have a captured audience sitting crossed leg in front of you like a teacher and maybe ou would meet the man who is suuposed to marry you in WDW! ;)

I am here to help give advice and thoughtful prose!

And just as an FYI - apparently if you are too LIGHT...,

I laughed so hard at that one. I think at goal weight (130lbs)I would do okay. No Nicole Richie dreams for me!

I would have loved an Epcot wedding but way too much money for my taste. I would rather put that extra money towards more DVC points for 40 years of vacations. :cool1:

***Okay is it scary that I may not be alive to enjoy 40 years more of vacations. Holy crud there is a reality check for life. Better double up the vacay's now so I can get my life's allotment in!

Can I ask why people lurk intentionally and do not post? I am so much of a big mouth that not saying "hi I am stalking you," seems akward!

No Nicole Richie dreams for me either. I bet those would be VERY weird considering what the tabloids say she does in her "recreational time." And my dreams are strange enough after a bagel and cream cheese dinner  don't ask.... seriously.... you don't wanna know. It involved rainbows and people dancing...it was like a Care Bears movie. I have not eaten a bagel with cream cheese prior to going to sleep since then.

Doubling on vacations sounds good to me! Although I'm sure 40 more years in WDW are waiting for you.

I'm thinking about doing the cheap version of the Epcot wedding if I can. I don't want a big huge poufy Cinderella dress. That's just not me. I'm thinking nice white spagetti strap dress and white flip flops...a bouquet of lillies for my grandma, Lillian, who passed away many moons ago and won't be there physically, and just close friends and family. 15-20 people tops. Dinner at Tutto Italia maybe...... OK I guess I've done a little more than just "thought about it"!! Now if DBF would get on the ball...

To get married at Epcot when we looked into it was to have a Fairy Tale wedding at the starting price of $12,000 which did not include hotels rooms, tickets or tips and tax so we were wondering what the heck could we do to blow that much with a small crowd.

I invisioned myself like Mrs. Claus telling the guests to, "Eat, Eat , Eat.";)

We're staying DVC courtesy of my parents. We stayed there in September 2007 and loved it. Boardwalk area is nice, conveinent to Studios and Epcot, and the bonus of not having 5 gajillion little kids running around. The clown pool was pretty much deserted.

My kids love staying here for the clown slide. Not to go down it but rather to break the rules and climb up it at night when closed. The funniest thing in the world is hearing their feet squeeking up that slide trying to hold still and not move when security walks by - and then once at the top - they ring out water from a towel they hoisted up to try and get the slide wet enough to slide down.

The best memory of that was once, Treyner (13 approx.) went first and the other two followed in rapid succession and Treyner had stopped sliding due to the fact his suit was not wet enough with no water on the slide.

The other two barrelled into him and he got slide burn on his upper thighs trying to hike up his long board shorts to get wet skin on theslide to move.

In his boxers he looked like he had gotten huge hickies on the back of both his legs by some sort of a huge, sexy bovine with an attitude. :rotfl2:

He said a nice mom would feel bad for him.

I told him, "Yes she would but you have me.":lmao:

So who was the lookout for the security guard at the clown pool while they were all climbing up the slide? Since you could hear the squeaking feet, I'm guessing it was you ;)

Totally was and I admit to laughing as hard as they were. Hearing them shush each other and trying to wedge their feet on the sides so they did not fall was glorious. I am all into good clean fun as long as no0body gets hurt. If the biggest rule breaking they do is climbing up a closed water slide backwards - I have a victory!
I wish I had a mom like that! :cool1:
My mom was not a fun mom. She was not allowed a fun childhood and thus I do not think she had a prayer. I am always thinking of the worse case scenario and in this situation - worse case would have been getting scolded by security. They were not climbing off the side or anything dangerous - just rule breaking.

You should see what they do on the family raft ride at BB! It involves hanging off the back and sometimes changing rafts. That I am not in favor of. Once I stop laughing I tell them to knock it off in my sternest voice.:3dglasses

Our friends from Ireland started that one with Kenny tossing Treyner out the raft when Treyner was 12. Treyner would hang behind the raft and body surf and then pull himself in.

This past June we drove to Florida because our friends were there again from Ireland and knees were skinned up more than before from the cement holding the creases of the slide together. We had two rafts going - kids and adults. Treyner - jumped out of his raft - stayed up on the side of the slide and then we came around the corner and he jumped into ours. :scared1: I can't believe he doesn't get caught with that one.

A kid about 13 who was by himself because his family did not do big rides, had rode with the kids that time and after we all got out - he was laughing and laughing so hard. He said,
"Man you white people are crazy. Can I hang out with you the rest of the day?" :rotfl2:
My DS is a Thomas (not a baker) and I do shop a lot in lurkerville. *thinking you are a witch or maybe a superhero*

Day 3 - "Fear is not a Factor"

Okay – this is the 5th time today I have wrote this. I am not happy and I am going to try and be funny. My computer just takes a digger and shuts off the internet and everything I type is gone. I am typing it on Word now and it better save. The hard part is inputting the pics. I am stealing and having to re-look it up. UGH!!!!!

So when we last saw our metamorhisizing family, they were leaving the Amityville docks in search of something that did not smell of burnt sushi!
http://thm-a02.yimg.com/image/5be0fa55525bdd56
Or at least did not singe the hairs out of your nostrils and then fling it on your neighbor. :duck:

They wanted to be scared and scream until they had the taste of of bile in their throats. Like when you walk in on your grandma neked after showering and you wonder if you too in the future will have to step over what once was firm ta-ta's as a young woman.

They wanted to have pride in the human race and hope for the future of all things disturbing to the eye. Wave the American flag at a male thong contest for retirement home residents if ya will. :crowded:

http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/188586946fbbff8c
This was the event I was really looking forward to of the day. :thumbsup2 Fun and since I loved the TV show – I hoped worth the hype. It did not disappoint. Obviously not everything was duplicable from the show but it gave it a great attempt.

First Up was…”The Muffin Top Hang of Doom” http://thm-a02.yimg.com/image/5ab9edc0d16f7d2c
*My name for it – don’t rip it off.
http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/cd4f18feff9e3a8c
This is your basic – hang from a bar and hope you do not drop first event while being secured to guide wires with a jumbo nut cup.

A woman dropped in 7 seconds and I got my WWF mode on. pirate: I booed, threw popcorn popcorn::, called her a vag queen, tore of my shirt and threw it in circles above my head in disgust and then noticed the silence of the audience.

Okay – not really but come on people – this is not a feel good Easter Bunny moment. This is a competition and if someone stinks at an event – do not golf clap for them. :sad2:

That is what Ivana used to do for “The Donald” http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/cdbee7aa48979f2e
when he was underperforming in the boudoir :headache: and ya know what it gother? :confused3

A divorce and some lips that look like she just ate a puffer fish. :fish: That’s what. http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/259eae33fe3352a6

So I quietly whispered in Dan’s ear, “I could do better than that and I weigh more than Bullwinkle.” I felt better and she felt better not being ridiculed in public. :chat: Because of course her walk of shame was enough humiliation. It was a win/win for everyone. I am a giver. That is what I do.

Next up was a team event where squid was tossed into a bucket. It was okay but no squid in the face and I think they could make it a bit messier. ;) Like year old squid that fell apart when you grabbed it so your whole hand had to grip it for all it’s worth!

Then they pulled a few audience members to participate in an eating extravaganza. http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/340717a769a1420a
Super gross and fabulous! There were fermented things, blood and parts of animals you should not lick, let alone drink a puree of. :stir: I would hurl at this but I love watching others! :cool2:

http://thm-a03.yimg.com/image/4ef5bf933a4da2ae
They also had a part where someone from the audience put their head in a tank and they filled it with whatever bug/snake they spun on a wheel!
http://thm-a01.yimg.com/image/81f5fbeb46d12d90

http://thm-a02.yimg.com/image/3ac3afb7e20bafcaThey did this stunt where they had to climb to the top of a building and get flags off from weird angles as fast as they could. It was not my favorite of them.

Last up was the finale which involved a car hanging in the air and people having to unbuckle, crawl out and remove flags in the fastest time. This was pretty awesome athleticism and we all were impressed with what they could come up with in a studio to replicate some stunts.

http://thm-a01.yimg.com/image/86614438e2fb9c24

Treyner swears he is up for doing it next year. I will video the whole thing and if he falls in 7 seconds from the Nut Cup O' Death - I will have Dan take off his shirt and whip it around with the words "Redneck" shaved into his chest hair!

Have to end here because I need to run but wanted to get at least this done – will write the end of the day tonight and post – sorry for the computer issues – I have had it where you time out when posting on the Dis but not where the internet shuts off!

In 6th grade I tried to get away with having the teacher call me Domica (pronounced dough-me-ca.) Because I thought it was so glamerous!

I'm laughing about the above, cause that's almost my name!

I'm a new reader to your TR, and yes I read the PTR first and did laugh so hard about the water slide story that tears were streaming down my face and it took 10 minutes until I could tell DH why the heck I was laughing. It did occur to me though how easily you could have been seriously injured when that happened, so I'm very glad that it is just a funny story for you now.

I was so upset when I read what happened to Baylor. What a blessing it was that he had the presence of mind to jump in that pool. He seems to be a very brave, smart kid, and I'm so glad that he is recovering well. I'm also glad that your family is healing too. It sounds like you are a close and loving family, so I'm sure that has helped. You know, when I read someone's TR, I end up feeling like I know them and their families, even if I've never said a word to them, so I really am heartfeltly (made up a word) very glad that Baylor is doing all right, and that you as a family found that camp and have been able to talk through what happened.

Now as for your TR, you are a hysterically funny person, and a great storyteller, so I can't wait to hear more as you are able to write it. I'm along for the ride.

Good Morning all -
I finally made it to the MN state fair last night and I have a few pics to share but for those food porn lovers - it is nirvana.

It is the countries 2nd largest next to Texas - 12 days long and I cannot explain the amount of food on a stick and fried. The amount of people there and vendors is insane.

Examples of things on a stick and deep fried:

Spaghetti, hot dish, Scottish eggs, alligator, chocolate covered Belgian waffles, pronto pups, corn dogs, (pronto pups have wheat batter) Twinkies, Oreos, snickers, kabobs of fruit, kabobs of veggies, kabobs of any meat you want including elk, buffalo, venison, and the list goes on.

Then you have the other plain deep fried, not on a stick and fattening choices of:
spam nuggets, cheese curds, French fries, ravioli, mini doughnuts, green tomatoes, and the winner of last night:

GREEN PEPPER RINGS! OMGoodness this is amazing and the best thing I have ever eaten at the fair.

It is just plain green pepper rings dredged in a basic batter and fried - dip it in a bit o ranch and you are in glorious bliss. :littleangel:

Baylor said they were amazing as well. Seriously - If you have a deep fryer - you need to try this. They are sweeter than the raw form - like an onion when it gets cooked a bit.

Baylor loved them and so did Dan. For Dan and I it was hand's down the best ever.

Baylor still has a favorite of Sweet Martha's Cookies. They are chocolate chip cookies that fit in the cup of your hand - medium size - and the lady is sure genius. There is a line a mile long for these and she has 2 stands now there at the fair to try and keep up.

The funniest is watching people with a sherbert size bucket  of overflowing, hot from the oven, golden brown with smatterings of chocolate buttons melting through cookie that they just paid $14 dollars for - beating it across the grounds to the milk booth.

Because they have all you can drink milk for a $1!:drinking1

That's right - fresh, cold, frothy milk piping through lines to deposit either white or chocolate to your cup. And you can go back as often as you want for refills. FREE. Best deal at the fair by far! :worship:

Dan has to work the fair for his company and we have a friend who is a police officer for St. Paul and since he works it, gets free tickets - so it was free to get in. They have free buses and parking at park and rides (like the magical express but without the magical) from many places in the city to get you there versus paying $11 on up to aprk by it and it was also good walking for 5 hours to walk off some of that food you did decide to share. :cool1:
So all in all a good way to spend the day.

Dan and I are going back today - if you all want I will take my camera and shoot a bunch of pics of the funnier stands and people and food. It is not Disney but it is great for food connoisseurs and people watchers. :cool2:

Like the girl, a size 16 but wearing a size 6 mechanics looking, skin tight one piece, purple, suit that ended in shorts not full pants. Zipper included. With 6" wedge platform sandals. :scared1:

"Excuse me Ma'm but the Vikings called and they want their squeegee uniform back for Emmanuel Lewis." :rotfl2:

If you are interested let me know - I will post and make my usual smart mouth comments and dole out unwanted advice. Like Siskel and Ebert - or was it Siskel and Ropert? How bout Pert and Sis? Maybe it was Ernie and Bert? :confused3

And I will watch and replay people’s reactions to their food. Like Paula Dean on speed. Julio Iglesias to all the food I have loved before. :lovestruc

Do they share nicely their ridiculously overpriced morsels of temptation or do they elbow their snot nosed kid in the kidney and drop a shoulder and guard their pressed cardboard coveted trophy as they disappear in the sea of chubbies?:rolleyes1

So what do you think? Interested or "fohget aboouut et?"

(Read in my head and okay out loud quietly since my cat would freak out and cr@p itself as it sits here staring at me - in my best Godfather voice. Or what I assume would be a Godfather voice if I had ever met one and lived to tell the tale. Which I have not, so I am taking some creative license here people.:3dglasses)

Here is a few pics of the fair crowds. It gives the MK rope drop a run for its money on stampede:

Is it wrong I was imagining it was Simon LeBon cracking the whip at me in his sexy accent vs a womans English lilt? :lmao:

Whatever helps get another chapter of the TR wrote! :lmao:

Dan and I are going back today - if you all want I will take my camera and shoot a bunch of pics of the funnier stands and people and food. It is not Disney but it is great for food connoisseurs and people watchers. :cool2:

I vote yes, I love to look at pictures! :upsidedow

Dawn, I just found your TR today. Like everyone else, I have been laughing and crying all day! Just like a GREAT MOVIE!

We just had our Iowa State Fair - so much fun!!! It is the closest thing to Disney for me also. My husband makes fun of me becuase there are two things that get me really excited- Disney and the Iowa State Fair - both of which he hates - go figure!!! :confused3

I am looking forward to hearing more about your trip. You are a wonderful writer! I wish I had your talent.

Good Morning all -
I finally made it to the MN state fair last night and I have a few pics to share but for those food porn lovers - it is nirvana.

I usually love going to the State Fair since it's in my city, such awesome food finds. Yeah, they usually find my hips, waist, stomach, etc. :lmao:

Wow, I just found your TR and PTR and had to post before I can't find it again. I need to go back and do some reading but I wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about Baylor's burn. How tramatic for all of you. I hope Baylor is doing better now.

I look forward to reading more very soon!

I love the fact you okay me getting my freak on if it makes me write. Do you want to be my manager?!:lmao: You are one of my all time favorite people!
Growing up in Ohio & Texas we always went to the fair. :goodvibes Although my mother never let us eat all that fried goodness. Yeah I usually am a pretty in control parent when it comes to daily food and not eating out and balanced nutrition - but a few times a year they can splurge and as long as it's not a habit I am good. The kids actually monitor themselves well. Since they do not eat greasy or fried food all the time - their tummies give them signs and they listen to it. Pickles are my favourite. Me too - they have fried pickles here even. :rolleyes1 Getney is home to MN so we get all the new styles before anyone else.:yay:

Wow, that is one big fair! Crazy huge. I just want to know how in the world you get spaghetti on a stick???? Very carefully! You just made me crave a big ole greasy corndog. Slurp, yum! I do prefer them by far to pronto pups.

Definitely share the food porn!
Since Kelly is so kind to enable my desires - I will pass it forward!

Seriously. You guys have no idea how much your compliments mean to me as someone who has always dreamed to write professionally. :worship:
We just had our Iowa State Fair - so much fun!!! Hello! Do you know how close Iowa is to Minnesota? I am telling you we should try and get a meet together this fall somewhere. There is so many of us. People could stay at my house or hotels- we could do a Mall Of America day/home spa night -I LOOOVE cooking and it would be my pleasure to make food for everyone....I need to get this into action! It is the closest thing to Disney for me also. My husband makes fun of me becuase there are two things that get me really excited- Disney and the Iowa State Fair - both of which he hates - go figure!!! :confused3So how do you handle him hating your love? That would be hard I bet.

I have a story that I posted the first chapter to here on the boards over 3 years ago - I should find it and let you guys read it. I have it half way done and really want to accomplish that goal of trying at least to get it in others hands. It's more of a romantic book - I also like writing humor so maybe I can craft the next "sex in the city" type. Although I have never seen an episode of it so I can only go by what others have described.

You are too funny. I am happy to report I am only up 1.5 pounds in 2 days of fair temptation this morning so not too shabby.:woohoo: It should be off by tom. and I will be back on my WW track to looking good for my life and my wedding!
