I know I've seen some restaurants advertising that if you buy a certain amount gift card you will get an extra $5 or $10 one to keep. Anyone remember where they are doing this?

Is this a an actual GC or one of those "coupons" to take $5 off the next time you go there. Can you use more than one at the same time?

I bought from Chili's a couple of years ago thinking I was getting GC's that I could use only to find out that they were coupons for a future use. (I even asked when I bought them. I guess the hostess didn't understand the rules). Anyway, I am very careful now.

Anyone else have information about Panera doing this? I can't find separate confirmation.

Yep, just got an email that says they are doing $5 in 'bonus bucks' when you buy $25. The bonus bucks are good Jan. 1- Feb. 28.

Our local news station is doing "buy it for 1/2" They find local business that will double your purchased gift card.
Smokey Bones was doing it for 25$ gift cards, went on sale thursday morning at 9am... at 11am when I got on, they were all gone.

I just bought a bunch of gift certificates from Restaurant.com (if you type in "Santa" in the discount box you get 80% off) In any case, I bought a few 25$ and 10$ gift cards for 9$. And all of them only required me to spend 10$ more than the original amount. Which I don't think there is one place we've eaten at without spending at least 20$.
Each restaurant has it's own rules. Some have a min purchase/entree, others include automatic tip, sometimes it's only good for a certain number of people. But I sure found it worth it.
