Rooms on a child AP

I thought I had read on these boards that you could only get the AP discount with an adult AP. The DIS site alledges that you can get the discount only having a child's AP. Has anyone gotten discount with and only with a child's ap.

If the child is paying - then I suppose you can use a child's AP! Otherwise - I think the person paying the bill has to be the one with the AP.

Here's what I was told--the room has to be in the Passholders name and you have to be 18 to rent a room.....according to that, it won't work

Posted before, but my daughter reserved her room and paid for it and her son had the AP (then only 6). She was told when making ressies that someone in the party had to have an AP to get the AP rate. She did, never had a problem and has done this several times, but not lately. I can't imagine a 10 year old paying the same price for an AP as I am and that 10 year old being told that yes you paid the same amount, but you don't get the same perks??? The rules may have changed. But remember when calling CRO, you can talk with 10 CMs and get 10 different answers.

From the FWIW department:

There have been many instances reported where people used a child's AP to book their AP rate room. While it may not be Disney's "official policy" to allow it, we all know just how little they scrutinize AP requirements at resort check in.

So is it allowed? Not by Disney policy.
Can it be done? Apparantly yes.
Is it right? That's for another thread.

poohlvr, thats exactly what I thought. Even though my dog that has been dead for 3 years received a credit card offer, my 4 year still has not.
