February solo trip

Hi all. I just recently joined the board after lurking here for years.

I'm making my first trip to the World in a few years in February. I'm taking my 11-year-old son with me Feb. 7-10 (staying at Pop), sending him home on the 10th (he'll be flying alone for the first time ... I'm more than a little nervous about that ... I'm hoping someone has done the same and can calm my fears about that), then hopping over to Tampa for a day for a business meeting, then coming back to the world the night of the 11th for a couple of more days at Port Orleans Riverside. Whew, that was quite the run-on sentence. My apologies.

Anyway, the latter half of my visit will be solo. Never done that before at Disney and am hoping to find some other DIS'ers who want to get together for dinner and/or some adult beverages the night of the 11th (I hear River Roost is fun but am open to anything) and then the parks on the 12th.

Let me know if you're interested and we can solidify plans as the dates approach.

last March 08 I did the same thing with my nephew... he was coming from Los Angeles and I from Philly... it was his 1st time to fly by himself and he turned 12 at the World... it was a birthday present... I think he did better than myself... it was like a door to door delivery my cousin delivered at the gate and I picked him up by the gate... he was more excited than scared... I hope your DS gets the same fun out of the trip alone...

Bart I did put in my request to switch my weekend off (it will be for 5th to 8th of Feb) this afternoon as soon as I got to work... if they Ok it I will see you and Wirki and family!!! Most likely I will be Pop'ing too unless I get availability at BWV which is a hop skip away from POP so I can come get yah!!! I found Starbucks thanks to Reb by 192!!!:cloud9:

Just adjusted my plans and will now be at WDW starting the 7th. Planning to see KC & the Sunshine Band at Universal Sat. night if anyone is interested. Other nights will be at Jellyrolls (thru the 10th).

I'm thinking of going to Jellyrolls around 8pm on Sunday night as I have to drop my rental at the Dolphin, BUT might decide to do MK EMH since I'm only there until Tuesday - so much to do with so little time!!! :confused3

Decided to extend my trip and leave on Sunday the 15th, planning on going to Kennedy Space Center on Saturday the 14th if anybody else is interested (need to go check out car rental options now...)
