Do you still get a medal for participating? My wife is worried that she may get swept and not finish the half because she doesn't run fast enough. If she does get swept, will she still get the medal?
Thanks!

This is my first 1/2 marathon but I've done a Disney 10K and 15K. I've been told if you get swept (picked up and taken to the finish line on the bus) you do not get a medal.

It is true. If you do not finish the race, you will not get a medal.

I tried the 1/2 marathon in 2005, and got closed out at the back gate of MK at about 10.5 miles. I did get a participant medal--of course, that was 4 :scared1: years ago

The Mickey or Donald metals are finisher’s metals, so you will have to finish to get it as far as I know. At least that is how it is done the majority of the time.

I did the half last year and got swept because of an injury. No medal for me.
Tell her to keep on plugging - maybe she doesn't run fast enough, but she may walk fast enough. Good luck!

Just looking at your signature...is your wife pregnant and considering doing the half?
Also, if she is running--even slowly--I would think she would be fine. Walkers are allowed in this, so the pace is 16 minutes/mile.

I'm pregnant and doing the half. :) I can walk a 16 minute mile no problem. My wife was going to run, but has a knee injury and may not be able to do a 16 minute mile at this point.
