I used Deluxe Dining in September, and I was double checked and most places wanted to take my card and not give it back until after the meal, which made it hard to leave a tip on a room key. (One lady was so rude about the whole thing, we just didn't leave a tip) I'm going Dec 28-Jan 4, and if I have problems again I may not use Deluxe Dining again. Are places just taking your word that you have deluxe dining when they ask, or are they still taking your card, and are they any places that treat you like your an idiot about it?

Thanks.

HI! I don't think you will have any problems. We used the Deluxe plan on our last trip in June and we never had to give our card to the servers before we ordered. We always just used it at the end to pay and add the tip.
A couple of times they wanted to take our whole order right at the begining, (App, entree and dessert) but we just said we were not sure yet what we wanted for dessert, and they were fine with that.
Good luck, we really enjoy the deluxe plan!:yay:

We used the DxDDP last Sept. and never had any problems. Matter of fact...none of our servers even asked what plan we were on. We had ADRs for all of our meals and we just assumed it was noted with our ADR. We actually told our servers we were on the DxDDP and most of them said...."I know". We loved the deluxe plan and will be using it again next Oct. We scheduled a 1TS and a signature each day and it worked great.

we used the deluxe dining plan last week. At a few places they asked to see the card before we ordered, took it briefly, and then gave it back before we ordered.

We used deluxe dining for 14 nights in September/October. I think the only restaurant that took our card was Wolfgang Pucks, other than that some servers asked to see the card before ordering and others didn't even ask if we were on a plan.

with Deluxe is tipping. I think it's a big hassle unless you have cash.

We just came back from 10 days of DxDDP and had no issues. We would inform them at the beginning of the meal we were using DxDDP. A couple asked to see it, but then gave it right back.

The check comes at the end. You fill in the tip and give them your card. We gave the room card for the meal and our Disney Visa for the tip (we were earning better points to have the restaurant charge the tip rather than charge it to the room :thumbsup2 ). When they came for the bill we would say, "Room card for the dining plan and Visa for the tip" It was never an issue and always done correctly.

It was very easy and painless.

I'm glad to hear that it's a bit easier.

I didn't have a problem tipping when they didn't "steal" my card at the beginning. I always and will only use my room key for tipping. I'm not going to carry around cash or an extra CC to make the lives of Disney easier. I've decided that if I do end up at another place that they require taking my card from me at the beginning and brings me everything to sign when they close my ticket, they are just going to lose their tip, unless I have a little cash on me and they were otherwise a good server. I'm sorry to other servers out there. I know it's not standard for Disney to take your card and not give it back until your ready to leave. It's just sad that some of these operating participates feel they should do "undisney" things, and give Disney a bad rap for things.
