Hey - we still had 2 pages left! Wrongful eviction!! ;)

Mac - I haven't changed my signature lately. Are you using a larger monitor perhaps? I've had people they couldn't see stuff on mine, when it all appears to me. Wasn't until I started reading the DIS at work, on a much smaller monitor, that I realized a bunch of other people's sigs were chopped off, and finally understood what folks were talking about! But the last time I changed it was when Stephen turned 15 in July, and that was only to change the 14 to a 15!

Thanks for all the links by the way - always fun to look back!

Hey Mac ... I'll share a little something about us Canucks ...

FRIENDS: Never ask for food.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Always bring the food. And lots of it.

FRIENDS: Will say "hello".
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Will give you a big hug and a kiss. More than one.

FRIENDS: Call your parents Mr. and Mrs.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Call your parents Mom and Dad, and often.

FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Cry with you. And for you.

FRIENDS: Will eat at your dinner table and leave.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Will spend hours there, talking, laughing, and just
being together. Then do the dishes before leaving.

FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you.
And most of the time know you better than you do yourself.

FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Will kick the whole crowds' butt that left
you. Then walk beside you in the front of the crowd.

FRIENDS: Would knock on your door.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Walk right in and say, "I'm home!" If you are not
home they will wait.

FRIENDS: Are for a while.
CANADIAN FRIENDS: Are for life. And then some.

Actually there is a hotel in Quebec that is made entirely out of ice ... the Hotel de Glace ... if you want to see pictures of it - go here (http://www.icehotel-canada.com/images.php?action=photos) ... and yes, people actually book rooms and stay there like a regular hotel (although it's only open from January to March each year)

HI all-
Yes I see we moved to house #6. :)
Just give me a room with a jacuzzi overlooking an ocean or better yet, Wishes fireworks! :cloud9:

I've been busy getting some projects done today.

Mailed out my ornament today(well, the mailman will pick it up today from our mail basket). I don't have a postal scale, so I put many stamps on the package, hoping it should be enough postage.

DH surprised me this morning. He found 1 pic of Cindy's castle with the lights strung on it! Also he found a pic of Twas the Night Before Christmas at MK! Found the pics on webshots and made them into wallpaper. :)

Gotta run and I'll be gone this afternoon.

Glad I found the key. Still haven't been to bed yet.

Jonathan would thank you all for the birthday wishes if he were old enough to care about birthdays. So I thank you for him! He loved his brownies (he hates cake) and his Hulk car so much we decided to save his other B-day presents for Christmas. I guess I'd better get a few more for Jared so he's not jealous....

Jared has TOO much fun with fire lately. He's gotten in trouble numerous times for messing with the gas fireplace. He lit a fire in the yard with no supervision last week. We took the birthday candles away from him because we knew he'd set the house on fire. So he melted a plastic spoon on the burner of the stove for fun instead. It runs in the family. DH and I were pyros as kids, too.

Well, off to check Jared blood sugar, and then to bed. For as long as the kids will let me sleep. Thanks for all the yawning smilies!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to get a room set up over here, now that we've had tutorial on how to do it!

Mr Mac did not feed the cat and she howled until i got up to feed her.

It will be on a local station Christmas day--I even asked about a cd of it cause there was an ice storm last night and my mom couldn't go along with a lot of others--obviously the people in charge never had kids in dance competitions--they're missing an easy money maker--guess who is going to open up their mouths at the next strings meeting:confused:

Tinker-tude be careful of the pyros--my next door neighbor's mom used to work in a plastic surgeons office and she told me that boys between the ages of 8-18 are the ones seen the most for burns--she told me this cause my and hers are the exact same.

This summer I was letting my DS13 burn papers in our fire "pit"(a large area where we dumped dirt and were too lazy to finish so we're now having fun with it). Two boys, one is a boy scout, one parent not really paying attention. Anyhow...the next day I found empty WD40 cans along with numerous other items that were too scary to remember where they had tried to spray then catch on fire...makes me sick to think what could've happened:scared1: Stupid boy...:scared:

Today I was supposed to go pick up said cheese and we had a two-hour delay because of icy roads--Aargh--now the person who was to go with me can't go until Wed--and break starts Friday...

I think I'll just go by myself or drag my mom for company in the car--it's about 1 hr and 20 mins--and I can only tell myself so much when I'm alone in the car...

Don't you love this early icy cold weather--Al Gore where are you--is it warm enough for you?

Got a new car last week and it came with the freebie trial XM--got it set to Orlando traffic and weather--just gettin' in the mood...

Howdy all!

Just a quick "hi" for Friday. Heading off to the Great Wolf Lodge today! We told the kiddies on Wednesday evening. I believe we might be responsible for calling some pods of dolphins up onto the Jersey Shore. The squealing that ensued after our scavenger hunt for clues to our weekend getaway was definitely only audible to the dolphins!!

It was super exciting and we're all looking forward to it!

However, we leave at 3pm and yes, I haven't packed anything yet....
So, off to the suitcases!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Hi Homies-
Was so tired this morning. I think I'm trying to fight off some bug. I took a nap and I feel better now :) Went to the library to drop off and pick up dvds, DS game, stuff for the kids. Seems to be a weekly thing, as Blockbuster tends to be too expensive to do on a weekly basis.

DH's work is moving to a different suite today, same building, different suite. Been chaotic this week for him. Tho right now, him and co-workers are party hardy, their annual holiday party at a steak house :santa: Spouses are not invited  Same thing last yr, spouses weren't invited. I was thinking about making a visit at their luncheon party, but it is a little far away, I wouldn't be back in time to get the kids off the bus. Well, I told DH maybe the coworkers can get his boss drunk and then DH can ask for a raise!! DH's yearly review is next month ;)
I doubt that would happen(asking for a raise, not the drunk part). Well, it was a thought ;) Tho DH already told me everyone in the company(only 12 or 13 employees) are going to get a bonus! Yea! God is good! :goodvibes

I remember DH's old job, they threw a dinner/ dance party at a nice banquet hall. Spouses were definitely invited. Those parties were fun! It was a nice date night for us.

I got my ornament today - thanks to the mysterious sender as well!!! :thumbsup2 It's already lighting up the tree!

However, I say mysterious because there was nothing telling me who it was from! The return was a UPS location, but by doing some detective work and using the city and state, and going through the list from the last SAN thread of who was participating, I think I know who it was!

If you haven't sent yours yet, include a quick note inside or at least your screen name! ;)

Mac - are you going to do another chat when we announce them all like last year?

Speaking of which, what ever happened to Lori? Just thinking of her because I got my ornament from her last year. Anyone see her around on any threads these days?

Also, I sent my Christmas cards out over the last 3 days (okay, first I ran out of in, then paper, then envelopes, then stamps, then ink again! :rotfl: - it took awhile!). So anyone on last years' list should be getting them soon. I already got one card from a fellow SAN'er this year - hopefully people will enjoy mine as much as I enjoy getting them! :)

Off skiing and snowboarding tomorrow with my two oldest and their girlfriends. Matt is teaching Kristen how to snowboard; Stephen is teaching his GF how to ski! Royce and Eric drove down to Bloomington, Indiana today for another Rubik's Cube tournament. I guess I'm the designated chaperone but am stuck skiing by myself. Actually I think I'll snowboard, but still, I don't think anyone wants me around. :sad1: At least it's supposed to warm up some! I think today's high was 9, but going to actually reach the 30's tomorrow. Then 40 on Sunday, then back down to a high of 6 on Monday! :sad2:

I didn't think you could top the high school concert, but the middle school concert beat by a mile.

There was a sudden snow/ice storm and they blocked all of the roads to the school and wouldn't let those of us who had made it up the steep hill to leave.

The show went on with about 50 talented kids with impromptu solos by dads, brothers, sisters and other relatives. Incredible. Best fun. :santa: :santa:

Jazz band played with the strings instructor playing trumpet and the band leader playing flute. Luckily every year they invite back past members to play so they had a complete group. :rockband:

Chorus sang beautifully and the orchestra rounded up the evening with one of my favorites, Ice Castles.

My DD15 had been wandering around outside in the snow so when I called and told her to find a violin to play--she was like WHAT!?:charac2:

But she was glad she joined in--the kids got a standing ovation and it was an incredible night.

And Macraven, I told the guy taping in front of me to put it on You Tube so I hope he does.

And I have to give a plug for my new car, a Honda Pilot--never even spun a wheel up or down the hill.

So great after having a car that never went anywhere in the snow for the past 6 years.

My neighbor called me from her brand new Honda Odyssey stuck in the middle of the hill and was stuck again on the way back to our hill--she spent 2 hrs. just making it back home. Says she's trading it in on Monday! Good luck with that:rotfl:

And I promise, your card is on the way!

Minnie - that's great that you have such wonderful concerts and enjoy them so much! Every time I go to one of those things I'm just gritting my teeth waiting for it to be over! :scared: Sounds like yours are much more fun!

And wow - that's one of the first times I've heard someone unhappy with an Odyssey. We bought ours last May, and before and since, everyone we asked with or about them told us how great they were! Haven't had any trouble with it yet, but of course it's still a "new car" so works fine!

Well very saddened by the news of the little girl in Orlando . I was in Orlando when she was reported missing . We were in WDW and USF and all I could say was I had a feeling that she was in a better place now . I just hope her mom gets what is coming to her .

Still have DH's Grammy holding on . Could be any day or weeks they just don't know but now she is in a Hospice . 24 hour nurse and all .

Going to an Adult only christmas party tonight. Looking forwared to that  . Off to get the house together and get more :santa: stuff done.

Talk to everyone later .

BTW our Holiday fair in my DS school was great . We spent only 2,500 on crafts to make and made 0ver 4,700 :thumbsup2 . Looks like we will have a great carnival in the spring :thumbsup2 for the kiddies .

church news: Anyone that is in my area today, there is a special guest choir conductor and recording person that is going to teach the congregation how to be a choir(we will be singing old Christmas songs is what I'm guessing or singing the Do your own Messiah- I don't know). My family and I will be going this evening to church as usual.
My family and I will be going to the Mon eve Dec 22 Christmas eve service at my church. THe Christmas eve service used to be televised Christmas eve
late night(local Chicago area) the past couple of yrs, but I don't know if it will be televised this yr.

If anyone wants to know where I go to church, here is the website.

And my DD15 who decided for some unknown reason to quit this time last year has decided she made a big mistake and wants to restart ballet next year. :scared1: Snooze....

I told her she had to pick between ballet and tennis--my DH works all the time so I'm the only driver and I just can't do it all. particularly those in florida....

the only reason i am in the area now is due to work.
if it wasn't for that, i would be living in kentucky or tennessee right now.

they get cold and some snow but it is still enjoyable to go outside on those days there.

my family and friends thought i was nuts when i took a job transfer from the st louis area to go to chicago many years ago.

Busy here today went to Best Buy and they have to have the WORST customer service. It took over an hour to get a price adjustment and buy a few things. Then off to the usual Pathmark to buy food . Gotta get ready to bake some cookies for :santa: soon.

Need to get the kids ready for school :headache: . Yup not looking forward to another week of school and work :teacher: . Can't wait for Christmas break I think we have TEN DAYS OFF :yay: :woohoo: . But DS has a science project that needs to be done and well that will take 2 days as well as the holidays and then the one day we take to go into NYC it's self and see the tree and do some sightseeing like we don't really live here . :rotfl2: ;) .

Dilema: Going to HHN this year.....or doing Disney in June for right at $1000 including airfare (if I can afford the deposit with my paycheck Fri)? I hate choices, don't you?

I think Mac would agree with me ...

You gotta do HHN!!!

I really really really wanna do HHN, but the price tag for Disney sounds really good. lol We'll see, cause if I can't afford the deposit by Friday it'll have to be HHN (the buy 4 get 3 free ends on the 20, well right now it does).

trust me, always nice to have choices, way better than ultimatiums:laughing:

either option will be great fun!

HHN is a one of a kind experience:thumbsup2 , yet i'd be willing to venture that it'll be around for many years

the bargin hunter in me would offer the possibility of booking the 'cheaper' Disney trip this year & starting a HHN fund with the $ ud save (naturally adding to it every month;))...goal to allow u to maybe visit both HHN & disney next year.:goodvibes

seize the week all...im on a road trip up north to pick up workboots for my mr who is off work until after Xmas...why the company picked a place so far away is beyond me:confused3 at least it'll be nearly 60 today:yay: and i may be able to wrangle a free lunch out of the deal:idea:

Janet - Yes Sammie is just a sophomore. He is amazing! Congrats to your Steelers. I saw all the crap over the call to end the game. Don't know what the big deal is. Even if it wasn't a touchdown they would have had the ball on the 3 inch line. They would have had a touchdown on the next play.

Marcie - I thought about you guys while we were hanging our cute little Packer snowman & bulb. We had to cancel two trips this year, one for Mikey to have shoulder surgery and one beause my oldest & my granddaughter are going to go with us and they couldn't go over Christmas. With all that said we are going in July. Are you going to be able to get the guys to go again?

Katie - I am still waiting for pics of that house!

Lori - it would probably just be Stephen and I. We're looking at trying to go for free dining in late Aug/early Sept. Our guys don't start school until after Labor Day, which is really late this year (Sept 7) so we'd look at flying home over Labor Day weekend. Nobody else is really interested in going (well, Royce would, but someone has to stay home and be the responsible adult!). Just thinking right now and probably won't do anything until we get the school schedules for sure and see if they even offer free dining.

Sharon - So sorry you lost your internet service. I hope your guests get their power back soon. I know to well how they feel.

Marcie - I hope you & Stephen can get that trip in. I know he is the only one that really enjoys it with you. Serves those other two right to get left behind. Too bad that Royce will have to stay behind with them.

Hello all!

For all of you in the colder climes, I send you warm thoughts! It's weirdly warm here, I took a walk at lunch and didn't even need a coat. I'm telling you, if you want it warm, buy a snow blower! :goodvibes

We returned from our weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge. The kids had a fabulous time although my oldest (11) still refuses to go on waterslides. My youngest (8) didn't have any problem with them though! The kids both did "MagiQuest", an interactive game played throughout the hallways of the hotel. My son in particular loved it!

But.... does anyone else have vacations all planned in their minds and then things don't quite go how you planned? My daughter caught a cold just before leaving for the weekend and coughed all weekend... My hubby just "wasn't into it" and spent quite a bit of time in the room, reading....

I'm working hard on remembering the good parts. And I'm feeling quite sad that it's over.. I guess it's typical end-of-vacation blues.... Ack.....

Smiles, Elyse

Janet - Stephen and I are possibly planning a trip for late August/early Sept if they offer the free dining. Matt and Royce are flying out to Vail next month in conjunction with a visit to the Air Force Academy. Either way, Matt and Eric have no interest in Disney anymore. When Stephen and I were talking about it the other day, Matt overheard a bit of it and came in and asked "We're going to Disney AGAIN? WHY?!" So no, I don't feel bad about leaving them out! Eric and Matt are also playing HS soccer, and couldn't miss any time then. Royce would like to come, but since he spent this week skiing in Colorado and will be there again in January, also I'm just not feeling too bad about him either! :rotfl: Eric is so interested in his Rubik's cube stuff, that he'd rather do a bunch of short trips (like the one to Indiana this past weekend) for those competitions than anything Disney.

But right now it's just in the "if they offer free dining, and the school schedule is what I think it is and we can get cheap airfare" stage! ;)

i read on the dis side forums that the promo sheet left in the guest resort rooms now are the discounts for up to early oct 09.
it is 40% off the deluxe hotel rooms. no food.
that's the bounceback the one poster talked about for next year.

So, I'm booked into the Pop Century resort for June 16-23, so I'll also be there for my birthday! Yay! I will do HHN....one year. Now to try to decide what I want to eat 6 months from now.

One year you will get to do it(HHN)!!

morning all, have we hit single digits to Xmas countdown yet?

60 yesterday & snow on the ground today, freakish
but.......but.......but.......marci, mnsshp is not scary at all.......!!

except:
a) the crowds (imo they r ridiculously overselling what is supposed to be a ltd event:confused3 , crowds verging upon President day type when we were there middle of month/weekday

&

b) the price...even with AP/DVC discount...HHN tix (with AP discount) were approx 1/2 the price as i recall

still, MNNSHP is a great non-horror type event to get ur mouse on:goodvibes

(not much of a hoop-de-do:confused3 , ur probably already doing a multi day tix...in theory another nice idea, yet not quite sure of the value to multi-day tix purchasers:confused:note to self: check out the fine print for this offer) is the buy 4 get 3 pkg still valid for that time period?

Mornin'!

Nine days people. NINE days to Christmas and counting. :scared1:

Joshua will be out of school early on Thursday and then doesn't go back until Jan 6th. How on earth am I going to keep the boys from exploding from sheer excitement once he is out of school? Huh? Suggestions?

We got Joshua's pinewood derby car at his cub scouts meeting last night. They call this a kit? It is a block of wood and wheels! I had no idea what I was getting into when I suggested scouting. You actually have to make stuff... and I am severly craft challenged. Dammit.

The boys are growing like crazy.

See? I'm not kidding.

I didn't take time to read back, but I'll return later and try to ketchup. :goodvibes

AndyRob - Congrats on booking the trip! What day is your birthday? My big sisters is the 23rd.

Janet - For multiday ticket buyers I think you can get a $75 gift card to use at the parks. But I'm not positive.

Tricia - The boys are adorable. I am not finished with my shopping either. Now it is icy, I have to help my sister with her magazine for the next three days and then Ally will be out of school. Good luck with holding the boys off once Joshua is home from school.

Marcie & Mac - You guys can fight over the snow all you want as long as you keep it up your way!

Ah, to live somewhere where they cancel school because of things like ice and snow! ;) I did live in VA and NC for awhile and it was like that there. Predict flurries and the grocery stores were mobbed. I still remember one newspaper columnist writing a humorous article about one of the snow"storms" we had. He said something like "As the snow piled up in places sometimes 2 and 3 flakes deep...!" :rotfl:

My kids have one of those wooden countdown to Christmas things. It is a big production in the morning when they swap the blocks around to show one less day. If I have to stare at it every time I walk to the kitchen, why not share that joy with all of you? :rolleyes1

Yes, the "free" day on your birthday promo isn't much. After you buy the first 3 or 4 days of multi-day park tickets it costs, what, $5 to add another day? Something like that. I do think they offer a gift card if you opt not to take the free day, so make sure you sign up for the freebies Andy/Rob/RAP. If they didn't offer anything to you when you booked, you may have to go to DisneyParksCelebrations.com and register, then call back and ask for your perks.

Lori, you have ice? I have fog. Yet one more reason for you to pack up and move this way. I'm just saying.

It is currently 60 degrees here, but gray and foggy, so I'm not bragging. It may not be cold, but it is still yucky. If only it would really rain. At least then I could say that it is doing something to offset the drought, but nooooo.

Marcie - We didn't get any snow last week but we did get a little ice over night. Of course that meant that the idiots were out in force this morning. I had 4 people, including a bus, pull out in front of me in a single block while taking Ally to school this morning.

Tricia - I thought the gift card was like $75 for the birthday promo. That will pay for a couple of meals or buy a nice souvy.

I wish I could move your way now. Unfortunately it is going to have to wait. It was 70 here Sunday at noon, by 5 it was in the 30's.

We got snow here. I snowed all day last... Monday... I think. Days are blurring at this point. However, since it was 34 degrees, it melted as soon as it hit the ground. You have no idea how mad Joshua was that it was snowing and he still had to go to school... or how mad Daniel was that I wouldn't let him play in it. I let them go outside and catch flakes on their tongue, but Daniel kept wanting to lay down and make snow angels. In the mud. Can't imagine why I had a problem with that.

Actually our county never cancels, but about 3 weeks ago we had about an inch of pure ice, then snow on top and the idiots never even called a 2 hr delay--this is the same day I did an almost 360 and when the salt truck was coming up the hill flashed his lights for me to move. I just got out of the car and told him to take my car back home.

Guess it's the same everywhere then. Two winters ago, we had 14 inches of snow (14!!!) Sunday night into Monday and they didn't cancel school. Just the "We're Green Bay darnit and we can take it" attitude. Well, same thing - cars stuck, kids couldn't make it walking or driving, lots of upset parents. Well, then about 3 weeks later they were "predicting" snow/ice. It never actually did anything during the entire school day (had some freezing drizzle in the evening), but they went ahead and cancelled school. What's the phrase "Once bitten, twice shy?" ;)

Having lived in the north and the south, I understand why they close schools in the south for snow and ice. The roads are made of completely different surfaces. The roads in the south are horribly slick and once you start to slide at all, there's no way to get it under control again. When I lived in Utah I used to shake my head and think that peeps in warmer winter climates just didn't know how to drive in the little bit of snow and ice they got once in a blue moon. Boy, did I learn a lesson when I moved to the south! Driving in snow and ice here is at most a death wish, and at least a great-damage-with-high-probability-of-injury wish. I'll stick to northern snow driving on northern road surfaces any day!

I'm finally going to the doctor tomorrow for a thumb that was broken in March and didn't heal correctly, and a shoulder that was injured several years ago. The shoulder has been acting up a lot the last few months, and now it's keeping me awake at night. I was planning to hold out until after vacation, but I need something NOW. If I need surgery, I'll postpone it until we get back. Hoping they have good news and good meds for me. :upsidedow

if you go during hhn, will you have your 16 yo babysit the other two when you do hhn?

you can only have 5 in the room at the loews hotels.
does this mean you are leaving the kids at home and gonna try to have another couple go with you?

that would be fun.

hope you can do hhn sometime in your life.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER COLORADO ON THURSDAY... THEN QUICKLY MOVE PAST THE SOUTHERN TIP OF LAKE MICHIGAN ON FRIDAY. THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM IS FAVORABLE FOR HEAVY SNOW... ESPECIALLY OVER EAST CENTRAL WISCONSIN. AT THIS TIME... A SWATH OF 6 TO 9 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED SOUTH OF A LINE FROM WISCONSIN RAPIDS TO SHAWANO TO MARINETTE... WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS FROM OSHKOSH TO MANITOWOC.

Okay, I highlighted part in red. I didn't know we were so close to Colorado that we got their snow less than a day later! :confused3 I'm hoping we'll be north of this one!

*a special FastPass good for you and up to 5 people (but those are limited and "may not be available after 11am)
*a 1 day Magic Your Way ticket good until your next birthday.

As for the "Buy 4 Get 3", I believe you have to book by 12/20 and the last valid date listed is 6/27 (like 4/19 to 6/27 I think is the last stretch).

AndyRob - Congrats on booking the trip! What day is your birthday? My big sisters is the 23rd.

June 19. I'll be 24.

I thought we were supposed to tell who the ornament was from when we sent it. Just not share it on the thread so people could figure out who had gotten and sent and who was left. I enclosed pics with my ornament and definitely told who it was from. That's how we did it last year. :confused3

Rose - coming from a family with two parents whose parents (my grandparents on both sides) emigrated from Poland, I went to a LOT of those weddings growing up! For some odd reason, we have a bunch of the songs on our ipod too (think beer barrel polka but much worse!)

I'll let you all know if anybody wins anything with the lottery cards! We bought one for my dad and he won $20 (yes, it was $20 for the card!) - and yes, he skipped ahead and did them all at once!

Off to not one but TWO band concerts. Middle school one (8th grade band and then jazz band) and then the high school one that was cancelled because of the weather last week (3 more bands to listen to there). If I haven't mentioned, I HATE these kinds of things!

Catch you all later. Oh, and it's snowing, by the way!

Hi Rose..

Like mac stated when evryone recieves thier ornaments then we or she will post who it was from..She has the master list and let us know when!!:)
Thanks, donaldduck.

Hey, did you say you were a nurse(LPN)? And your wife is a nurse, too? Is she an LPN or RN? Does she work in a hospital, nursing home, doctor's office or somewhere else? Just curious. I'm an RN myself, haven't worked in nursing for quite awhile. I remember the crazy coworkers I used to work with. I used to work for the nuns at this one nursing home on the graveyard shift for 3 yrs full-time (before I got married). The director of nursing at this place was a nun and she was so mean to me :scared: She was a perfectionist.
She ruled with an iron fist.
Other nursing homes I worked at, nurses would write-up other nurses :sad2:
Everyone was at each others' throats. it was crazy. Too much backstabbing :sad2:

What the heck?! Now my weather toolbar is not only giving me warnings for tonight (although it's just 4 inches now, I guess with the wind chill it's worth a warning), but for Thursday night into Friday?! Here's the latest:

:confused3 I'm hoping we'll be north of this one!

it started snowing here around 1:30 today and we were told only a couple of inches.
HA..........

since we are down to one car, i have to drive the mile and a half to the train station to get mr mac.
it took me 15 minutes to get there. dang!!

it is more than 2 " and no plows out yet.
now they say 4 or more and will continue to about midnight.

don't tell your kids we have snow, they might think it is wonderful and those up here call it something else.

just think of the email poem i sent out.......
that tells it all

I will buy drinks (and I am a man of my word) to you and the DH or to ANYONE that can help me find a good price on a flight for four to Orlando (MCO) from either Evansville, Louisville, Nashville for under $800.00 for the dates of March 21 - March 28...Now it doesn't have to be that many days, but I have signed up for the deal of buy 4 get 3 free (or something like that)...
Now you may ask how much are drinks worth?...I would say $40~$50 should do it....How will I do it will be easy!
Hope everyone stays safe, we, in Evansville are getting into some bad weather just for tonight...the rest of the week will be in the 50's....imagine whay people are sick...from 22 degrees to 56 degrees in a day..

Thanks for all the well wishes..

Hey Rose I was A LPN Liscence only.I started out in a vollanteer fire dept. Then hooked up with a friend that worked with the local EMS and started part time at night driving a ambulance.During that time I was working a fulltime construction job during the day.I thought I had my calling and worked two jobs and went too school for two years too get my LPN the CNA was a breeze..

After getting fulltime on the EMS with my liscence they hired a new mannagement-and still holding a day job,It was too much,so I quit..

The things I've seen bieng first response haunts me till this day!!

As far as DW she loves her job.She has been in the nursing field for almost 18yrs.But she finds more content staying a med tech and working with the elderly on a one on one basis..Sure its tough,I have seen her come home crying loosing a patient, but thats what the job is about,,

She does charrity work for Hospice just to let people know that its a natrual thing that happens and commffort them in there last days bye reading a fav book or watch a movie with them.. Its A rowl I could not do..She has the heart were I look at the next challenge!!

After the Holidays, I'll definitely plan on putting together a little trippie. I'm a trippie addict myself, I love to read them! But, I think if I try it now, I'll curl up in the fetal position under my desk. (Too much Christmas stuff left undone!!).

Especially since it took me about 20 mins just to get this multi quote together...... Need to learn the easy way to do things.... :surfweb:

Here's a question for my upcoming trippie. What is everyone's opinion on photos including your children? I see many people posting them... I have also read trippies where the poster never shows their family's faces. What does everyone think?

Rose and Marcie and Mike (oh my! ) - Is traditional German music like traditional Polish music? The little tourist trap town near me does Oktoberfest and we've gone and listened to the bands play. Joshua calls it the "oom-pah" music. Sounds very polka-ish to me most of the time. Lots of accordian solos too. We even saw one group that played those long horns like in the Ricola commercials (I'm sure they have a name, but I just think of RIIII-CO-LAAAA when I see them).

Donald - Speaking as someone who recently had to use the services of Hospcie, tell your wife thank you for all she does.

Dave - My son has made more trips in an ambulance than I care to count. Ditto the thanks to you for all you do.

Janet - I don't think there is enough Play-Doh in the world to keep the boys quiet and still. Unless I made a gag out of it and stuffed it in their mouths. Hmmm... now there's an idea... ;)

Katie - Will I see you on Say Yes To The Dress? And I'm not upset about your brush with the boys from Time Bandit. If you had said the Hansen brothers from Northwestern, then I'd be jealous. Still, any connection to Deadliest Catch is a good one. :goodvibes

Rob - You'll be 24? Can I smack you just for being so young? No? Okay, just checking. ;)

Mac -

If I missed anyone, sorry. Attention span dwindling... bed calling... nighty-night!

And I don't know what to tell you regarding pics. Obviously I'm of the "post lots of pics" camp, but my boys are teens and I'm not really concerned about someone abducting them. The biggest concern would be someone at school possibly seeing one of their pics in which I made them wear matching shirts or a fanny pack!

i think it was ben franklin that made that phrase:
God invented beer for us to drink because he loves to see us happy..

based on this from wikipedia:

"We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy. The miracle in question was only performed to hasten the operation, under circumstances of present necessity, which required it."
Letter to Abbé Morellet (1779)

the city i grew up in has oktoberfest yearly..........the town square is closed off for all the beer booths and food booths........

:rotfl:
only had the camera for 2 years this month and still haven't read the manuel.
too many words in it. :rolleyes1

back to your question, i like seeing families in pics.
it never dawned on me a possible risk for the child by bad people.

just do what you and your dh thinks is best.

i know what you should do.
go over to the community board on the motherland side and make a poll.
they will be glad to help you make the decision of post the kids pictures or not.

As far as my guys, they know that some things are non-negotiable. Like lime green DIS shirts on a Disney Trip. :rotfl: They started boycotting wearing them anywhere else many years, although maybe sometimes a bit for camping because I was recycling old ones. It's easier to pack when I just kept all our sets together and when it was time to go just grab 3 sets of tshirts and threw them in a duffle. More recently I only used like bike tour or fun run shirts - mostly normal white shirts, just matching.

This is the first year they didn't wear matching shirts for school photos! Although that wasn't as hard because they were usually at different schools which had picture day on a different day so I'd just tell them what they were wearing. But now my packing for any trip has advanced to "get get what you need and put it in a pile on the sofa" and if they forget stuff, oh well! ;) They do, however, know that if we ever go back to Disney that they're going to be wearing DIS shirts!

Hi Barb! Glad to see you around! Stop in between batches (or while they're in the oven!) and say hi! :thumbsup2

Off to work early today. I'm working extra hours today and Monday so I can get Christmas Eve off. Hopefully much won't be going on today though so I can maybe DIS. Can finally do it again. I couldn't the whole time we were on Daylight Savings :confused3 !! Yeah, I know that makes sense, but somehow my weird computer at work gets messed up with it and whenever I went into the DIS it just would keep reloading over and over and giving me an "updating daylight savings" message but never go anywhere. Now that we're off it, I guess I'm okay until March!

Anyways, I'm off to drive Eric to school first since he missed the bus (3 out of 4 of us overslept today and of course the one who didn't didn't bother waking anyone else up!). Not counting DH since he's up (and shoveled the 3" or so of snow) and gone long before any of us think about getting up! Matt drove Stephen, but since Eric's at the middle school, they're not allowed in early and I'd prefer he not stand out in the cold (since it's only 3 with a wind chill of -8 they wouldn't let them inside - has to be below -10) for a half hour!

Have a great Wednesday all!

I can't seem to figure it out I either have pink eye again :headache: or a head cold that is draining everywhere eyes , nose etc you get the picture. I am thinking head cold because it feels that way and well I just can't get pink eye again . IF that is the case I am not going back to :teacher: work ever again ...:lmao: Yeah like that could happen.

Wanted to say HI . I hear someone was baking cookies ... I want some sugar ones if you guys are taking requests.

Need to go clean ,do :laundy: and wrap for :santa: . BBl

And I don't know what to tell you regarding pics. Obviously I'm of the "post lots of pics" camp, but my boys are teens and I'm not really concerned about someone abducting them. The biggest concern would be someone at school possibly seeing one of their pics in which I made them wear matching shirts or a fanny pack!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/marciemi/2007trip/Magic%20Kingdom/IMG_1270.jpg

(and yeah, that pic even had their name on it!). Anyways, I can understand someone being cautious about it and certainly wouldn't blame them if they felt uncomfortable doing it. Guess it just comes down to how you feel!

I love the photo! And that's the crux of the problem, I do love to see family photos....

I am also amazed that your "guys" will wear the shirts. My family would not be so agreeable. You all look super in them!

And yes, I would love to take the snow with the snow blower. We STILL haven't gotten to use ours. The snow turned to ice and now is melting....

Thanks for the input! :)

i still haven't figured out how to get the pics off the camera into a photobucket so you don't see any of my kids.
:rotfl:
only had the camera for 2 years this month and still haven't read the manuel.
too many words in it. :rolleyes1

back to your question, i like seeing families in pics.
it never dawned on me a possible risk for the child by bad people.

just do what you and your dh thinks is best.

i know what you should do.
go over to the community board on the motherland side and make a poll.
they will be glad to help you make the decision of post the kids pictures or not.

I also love family photos. I'm not normally a nervous nellie (oooh a little alliteration..) but the thing with the boards is that you don't know who's seeing your stuff.

Anywho, it's entirely possible that all of my photos are blurry, so then I'll post 'em all and we'll all end up with a headache!! :rotfl:

I'm going to try to do a poll on the other board out of curiosity... we'll see what comes of it!

Thanks! Elyse

dave and donald, you two are gems!

donald, your wife is a tremendous person to help those that need someone in their last days.

she's a terrific lady!

oh dave, i drink coke, little ice so it doesn't get watered down..

Coke it is....little ice...not a problem.....

Donald: Being an EMT is not too hard for me EXCEPT when I am on a run and I happen to "know" the person I am treating, THEN it becomes very hard for me to handle. Two of my friends (yes I do have them :lmao: ) died in my arms while I tried to save them. Both were involved in automobile accidents and were NOT wearing seat belts. Yes, there can be a great debate on if wearing them would save or cost a life...:confused3
So having said all of the above, my job is not so tough...the tough ones come and have to go. I have to believe I have done everything possible to save a life, whether it be you or anyone!

Hope everyone has a great day and Mac...you are correct...2 MORE DAYS!!!!!

I just got the CUTEST ornament yesterday! Thank you, Homie! I love it!

Tami - Sorry if that isn't spelled right. I don't remember since I always called you macadamia. Anyway I hope you can get some relief for your thumb & shoulder. That would be awful to be in pain during your trip. Good luck!

Thanks, Lori! And as long as it's not my husband mispelling my name, I just don't care at all. It's not your fault my parents picked an odd spelling. I got xrays and a prescription for an anti-inflammatory, and I'm seeing an orthopedist on Friday. So far, so good. The Dr. says it's probably a build up of scar tissue that's limiting the mobility and causing the pain. So it won't kill me to wait until after vacation if I need surgery.

are you trying to say the little was busy climbing again and he finally tuckered out?

No, he never tuckers out. Unless he really shouldn't. Like at 7:30 PM, when he dozes off sometimes so he can stay awake all night. As we speak, he's thrown all the bedding off the guest bed, thrown his last chicken nugget onto the bare mattress, and is pulling books off of the bookshelves in the next room. He's probably going to throw them on the bed eventually and see how many he can bend in half by jumping on them. I remember having that much fun doing similar things. And now I know exactly why my mom got so exasperated with my "fun".

oh no, you have to be in pain.
shoulder injuries can be miserable. i have had surgeries on both shoulders.
but i do see your priorities are straight.
do the trip first and then schedule the surgery....:thumbsup2

i do hope your pain lessens and you can get a night's sleep soon!
praying for you.

and remember, better living thru chemistry....:rolleyes1

Thanks for the prayers! They are very appreciated. I love the things chemists have come up with for my personal comfort. I guess you could say my life depends on their past discoveries, with insulin and stuff like that. We'll see how effective this particular anti-inflammatory prescription is.

The doctor said he would normally give me a shot of cortisone, but steroids make diabetics VERY insulin resistant. I was actually impressed that he knew that. Most doctors I've had have known diddley-squat about diabetes. I'd rather have some pain than have super high blood sugar. Shoulder pain can't damage your kidneys and eyes! NOTHING will interfere with my Universal joy!

Hey guys :wave2:

Sorry I haven't been around...been very busy. This is my busy season at work. My shopping is finished and mostly wrapped. Still have some baking I want to do...next couple days slated for that.

Just wanted to say HI to everyone...hope you are enjoying your holiday season!

Hey, Brab the Barbarian! Good to see you again! :dance3: You wanna swing by and teach me how to bake? I know you probably have all kinds of free time to do that. I'm sure you can fit it in somewhere between 2-3 AM. That's my open spot. They say if you really believe in yourself, you can do ANYTHING. So just believe in yourself, magically beam on over here, and we'll have fun.

What are you waiting for?

Oh, yeah, it's not 2 AM yet....

I have baked an army of gingerbread men. I'm not sure why, since I don't even like gingerbread cookies. I usually don't cook what I won't eat. I think I must be under some Christmas-induced hypnosis.

Elyse, at the rate we post on this thread, lots of pages get lost quickly.
some homies don't go back and read what they have missed but start with the last page that shows up.

when that happens, your pics of the family don't get viewed at all...:sad1:

but let it be known, i go back and read every post made.

Coke it is....little ice...not a problem.....

i always wear my seatbelt.
illinois cop-pers will pull you over and give you a $100 ticket if the seat belt is not on for anyone in the front seat.
if you are pulled over for speeding and see people or littles in the back seat without a belt on or child seat carrier/restraint, bigger ticket added o

i know that had to be devastating to lose your friends.
