Anyone have any experience doing any of the backstage tours as a party of 1? I'm thinking of doing the Around The World Segway tour next week and it would most likely just be me - what would that be like?
In a similar vein, is anyone planning on doing the tour next Tuesday and want to meet up? ;)

I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour solo back in 2005 and had a great time. It was a week-long solo trip, so I had the time to spend a day touring without feeling like I was missing out on ride time.
Never tried the Segway tour, but if you end up doing it lemme know how you liked it afterwards :)

I did the Around the World Segway and the Seas Aqua tours last week on my solo trip - both were a blast :thumbsup2
The Segway tour is was full (10 people - apparently very popular) so got to chat with other folks and the CMs running the tour, but in particular riding the Segway was fun (need to win the lottery so I can buy one ;) ) - first hour is spent inside learning how to ride the Segway, then you go Around the World, with stops at each country talking about the background and info as well as some obstacle courses/challenges thrown in.
Oh, if your tour starts before the park opens, use the Akershus breakfast entry at the far left, they have the Segway list there.

I have done the keys to the Kingdom, Backstage Magic and Mickey Milestone tour all as a party of 1. I think it is jst as fun going solo as it is with someone with you. I think you should totally go for it!

Went Solo last June, did Keys to the Kingdom. I was the only single in the group so sat with the really cute CM guide on the Haunted Mansion and at lunch, she was quite the flirt!;) Also did Wild by Design and there were other singles on that tour. So don't hang back just because your by yourself.pixiedust:

Never do a solo trip. But have done a bunch of solo tours. I'm the dork that likes to learn on vacation. :teacher: Plus, when you're on vacation with the same friends after a week everyone needs me time.
Haven't done the Segway tour, but I'm planning on doing it on my next vacation. If you're already doing a vacation solo, doing a tour solo isn't that big of a deal.

Never gave it a thought, taking tours solo. Didn't take notice if other folks on the tours were solo guests. Took the Keys to the Kingdom tour at WDW and the equivalent tour at DL (can't recall the name). My focus was on the tour guide and I couldn't tell you much about guests in the group.:listen:

The last few trips I have done something extra. Last trip I did a KTTK tour. The time before that I had Lunch with an Imagineer. This next trip I would like to do the Segway Tour of WS.

A few years ago I did the KTTK tour, Backstage Safari and Around the World on a Segway. It was my first solo trip and I really wanted to try the tours. All three were great and all had other solos on them. In May I am already booked for the Wild by Design tours and also the 7 hour Backstage Magic tour. Go for it.

We did the segway tour at epcot, it was wonderful. There were several solos there and I really didnt think much about it. Sometimes even when you are with a group the individuals like to do different things.

Just noticed your thread. I will be there next week too on first solo trip. I have already reserved a tee time to play golf next Tuesday, or I might have tagged along. Have a great tour!

I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour solo and it was great. I wasn't uncomfortable at all, even though I was the only lone wolf. I knew I'd never see these people again, so I didn't feel uncomfortable asking nerdy questions.
That tour included lunch and the tour staff seated me with the tour guide for the meal. That was really the best option because of the other groups' sizes and the table seating area.
I think the Segway tour would be fine solo, esp. since they're usually done before the park opens. I took a test drive on one a few months ago (not at WDW) and it was so much fun! It takes a little time and concentration to get the hang of maneuvering it. Going with a group would be a distraction and I'd be self-conscious about not doing it right and having my BIL mock me, lol.

I've done Keys to Kingdom & Around the World on a Segway during a solo trip in Sept 07 (I also ate at alot of TS restaurants by myself) and it was fine. I did spend a lot of time talking to the guides. I was the only solo person on both tours.
I would definitely say go for it! Riding the Segway was so much fun!

I've done the Keys to the Kingdom, Dolphins in Depth, and Back Stage Safari twice, all solo. It never bothered me to be solo as all the tours are a learning experience that I wanted to experience. You'll have a great and fun experience on the Segway tour. I'll have to try that the next time I'm there.

I have done Keys to the Kingdom, Around the World on a Segway, and Yuletide Fantasy tours all solo during 3 separate trips and had a great time on all of them.

I've done KttK, Mickey's Magical Milestones, and the Epcot WS Segway tour (all solo), and I had a lot of fun. I plan on doing the 2 AK tours, Backstage Magic and the dolphin tour at Epcot, and most likely will be solo for them too.

I did the Backstage Safari tour solo, and I was on the other side of a solo Segway tour. What I mean is that although I did the Segway tour with a large group of friends, there was one solo there in addition to our large group. I'll bet that at first he wondered "Oh, no, what did I get into! I'm the only one who doesn't know anyone else." But very quickly everyone becomes friends on a tour.

The Yuletide Fantasy Tour is available during the end of November and December. This tour takes the group (think bus load of people) into the WS, MK, and DHS for short visits and dicusses holiday traditions. It also takes you to the warehouse where they store/create all of the holiday decorations and it makes a brief stop at GF. The takes 3-4 hours but your longest stop is in the WS before it opens where you probably spend about 30 minutes.
I really enjoyed the tour though it was a bit different than I expected. What did I expect? I am not exactly sure, probably more discussion of backstage stuff, but that being said, I did enjoy the tour and was glad that I booked it.

I did the Dolphins in Depth at Epcot solo. It was a small group, myself, a couple and two girls that came together. Everything was pretty comfortable and I would totally do it again. In fact, I might do Keys to the Kingdom in Sept if I can tear myself away from the Food & Wine festival.

I have done Undiscovered Epcot, Backstage Safari and Wild by Design (at Animal Kingdom) solo, plus did Lunch with an Imagineer. At the Wild by Design Tour the other two couples did not show up, so it was just the tour guide and I. :woohoo:
I am going from September 11th-26th this year and am thinking about doing Keys to the Kingdom. Also, the 3-park tour that takes all day----not too sure about the walking involved on that one.

P.S. Missjessicaanne: When are you going in September?
