I can only tell you what I've heard, but to my understanding a refub was possibly in the works, but due to the economic crisis has been put on hold.
This is only speculation, but it's basically what's been going around.
I personally wish that they would refurb the wait area to look more like Disneyland Tokyo or Paris. I like the ride the way it is, but if I could change it I would make it "blast off" like the DL Tokyo and Paris versions. They look awesome!:upsidedow

I remember years ago when they did a major refurb. The "WED Way" ride let you see the entire structure with the lights on. It was very interesting to be able to see the coasters.

Hmm, I've never seen the tracks before. I think it would take away some of the magic though. So this is the Disney World Space Mountain right?

Refurbishment of the existing tracks, installation of new cars, repainting, and possbily restructioning of the queing area. Don't expect any increase in the speed of the ride, but the jerkiness of the cars should be smoother considering that it's a steel track.

I think it is a real possiblility the refurb will happen. I saw on another post that Space Mountain is not mentioned in the new 2009 vacation DVD nor is it even on the map.....

I heard talk of a refurb for Space Mountain, just not sure when.
SM really does need a refurb. Looking down at their tracks and brakes versus the ones on Everest kind of scared me since both track systems are SOOOOO different. Yea...I was always analyzing those parts of the rides when I rode them for I don't know what reason. Maybe the fact that I got to learn the ins and outs of a rollercoaster amused me =D.
