This was our first time to stay off Disney property. I'll never go back. We rented a BEAUTIFUL 4 bedroom 2 bath with a pool home. We went with a private owner (check them out carefully!!) and got an unbelievable price. The house was new, large and clean. The neighborhood was quiet and relaxing (Westridge, on 27 just S of 192). It really enhanced our vacation.

Anyone worried about the magic being lost, don't!!! Being able to put the kids to bed (in their own room!!) made our time at the parks more enjoyable. Everyone was well rested and couldn't wait for an evening dip when we got back to the house.

We'll never stay at an over priced Disney resort again!

Our lakeside villa is at Hampton Lakes just across from Westridge. We ourselves have stayed in Westridge many times before we bought our own place.

I think you will find most owners are safe to deal with and are very proud of "their own place" and hence ensure it is well maintained and clean.

We've stayed in rental homes 2 times already and loved it. Our 3rd time will be next month and can't wait. Its the only way to go I think. We've been spoiled. Staying in a hotel just doesn't live up to it.

I've had two wonderful experiences myself this year. You CAN be spoiled by the space, the POOL and the peace! It actually makes it harder to go to the parks!
