I would check on foodnetwork dot com or on tasteofhome dot com. Both of those are great for recipes. I don't actually have a recipe for it anymore. The last time I cooked it from scratch was the day I went to have DS18!!! I was so sick of making it by the time I got it done, I ate one little bit and the rest was wasted!!

Ive got an easy "no boil" recipie.

Sauce: 1 pound ground beef
1 jar (30oz) spaghetti sauce
2 cups sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 cup water

Filling: 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
8 oz lasgne noodles (9 to 10 nooodles) uncooked
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

For Sauce: In large skillet over meduim-high heat, cook meat stirring until browned and drain grease. Add spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, and water. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 mins.

To Assemble: In small bowl combine ricotta, egg, salt and pepper. Spoon 1 and 1/2 cups sauce into a 13 x 9 baking dish; top with half the (uncooked) noodles, all the ricotta mixture, half of the mozzarella, half of the Parmesan cheese, 1 1/2 cups sauce and remaining noodles. Top with remaining sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan.
Cover tightly with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 mins. Remove cover and bake for another 15 mins. Let stand 10 mins before serving.

Its very easy since you dont have to boil the noodles and it tastes great too. You can pick any kind of spaghetti sauce you want to use.

I also use the 'no boil' lasagna noodles. (Barilla)
I follow the 'assembly' instructions on the back of the box.;)
I find that the real difference in the taste of a lasagna is the
quality of the ingredients.
Whenever I do make it, I always make a second one for the freezer.:)

I use regular lasagna noodles, but don't boil them - as long as you use enough "wet" ingredients (vegetables, or in my case sauce) you don't have to boil them.

Layer noodles - sauce - one pkg. ricotta mixed w/ an egg or two and about 1/2 cup parmesan - sauce - noodles - sauce - combo of 1.5 lb hamburg (or ground turkey) browned and 1.5 lb sausage cooked and crumbled - sauce - noodles - sauce - tons of mozzarella cheese

bake around 325/350 for about 45 min with foil on, then about 20 min with foil off. Check that noodles are done by putting a butter knife in without much resistance.

It's my quickie but delish recipe. My sister doesn't like hers too saucy, so if you don't like saucy you might not like this. But using lots of sauce gets you out of putting in too many spices to the meat and ricotta mixes.

Ok, I have a question. I also follow the directions on the back of the box. we also like ours more cheesier than saucy.. While cheese wise it was great, it was also very bland.(.the cheese mixture)any ideas on how to make this a little tastier?

yes I am making lasagna for dinner!

lots of parmesan in the sauce or ricotta adds flavor; italian seasoning mixed in with the meat (if you're doing meat - otherwise mix it in with the ricotta - heck, do both!)

The quality of the cheese you use makes a big difference in the taste.
I use whole milk ricotta, quality mozzarella (not the store brand pre-shredded kind) and I grate fresh parm/pecorino cheese. Sometimes I add some slices of provolone and/or some fontina cheese.
I also add a little garlic powder/onion powder/parsley and a teeny tiny bit of nutmeg to my ricotta. And one other thing, sometimes if I have some left over alfredo sauce, i use that for one of the layers of the 'sauce'.
HTH! :goodvibes

I agree with the no boil works on all and the quality of the cheese is key. I use a mix of cottage cheese and ricotta. I make my own sauce too but i don't have a real recipe. I use pre shredded cheese but that is not very budget friendly!

Sauce
2 large cans of tomato sauce
2 cans of tomato paste
1/2 cup sugar (cuts the acidity)
1 cup water
italian seasonings
chopped onion
diced pepper
olive oil
garlic
1 lb sweet italian sausage
1 lb hot italian sausage

saute garlic, onion and pepper in olive oil. Remove from pan and brown the sausages. add the rest, bring to a boil and simmer atleast one hour.

Filling
2 large containers of cottage cheese
1 container of ricotta cheese
2 packs of the 5 cheese shredded cheese
1 pack of shredded moz cheese
1 pack of chopped spinach
1 egg
grated parm cheese

combine and layer with the sauce and noddles. I usually end up with enough for 2-3 lasagnes and freeze them.

Oh!!! I have a recipe from my x-MIL that I love enough to continue serving 10 years later!! Everyone who eats this say it's the bomb! It is AMAZINGLY good - it's the cheeses that are unique. Everything else is super easy.

I guess you could use no boil lasagna noodles and just add about a 3/4 cup more water to the mix. Here's the recipe (from memory, it's THAT easy)

1 lb of beef, cooked and drained
Jar of Ragu traditional spaghetti sauce
Mix the beef and sauce together in the pan, and keep warm.

Cheese filling:
1 8 oz package of cream cheese (either soften a brick or get the soft tub)
1 8 oz package of 6 cheese Italian blend, finely grated
A little extra cheese for sprinkling over the top before baking
8 oz of ricotta cheese (in a pinch, cottage cheese can stand in)
1/4 cup of green onion tops (scallions)
Mix all the cheese filling together in a bowl.

To assemble:
Spoon some sauce on the bottom of a casserole dish to line the bottom. Lay down a layer of noodles (mine are boiled, if you do dry, add extra water to your meat sauce). Spoon dollops of cheese on top of the noodles (I use about three spoonfuls per lasagna noodle). Top with sauce. Repeat the pattern of noodles, cheese, and sauce until you run out. End with sauce on top and sprinkle a layer of cheese on top to melt in the oven.

Bake for about 15-20 mins at 350 until everything is melted and bubbly.

If you have men in your family, this is a huge WINNER!

Mine is fairly similar to a lot of the others posted here:

Saute 1 yellow onion with 1 tsp of minced garlic in 2 tbs of olive oil until the onion is soft. Brown the following with the onion & garlic:

1 pound of ground beef
1/2 pound of ground Italian sausage

Drain the excess fat

Add 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 jar of Emeril's Homestyle Marinara (IMHO, this is the BEST pre-made jarred sauce), keep on warm

Mix 1 tub of ricotta cheese & 2 eggs (I say 1 tub, but I don't know exactly how much - just a mid sized tub) with 1 cup of parmesan cheese

Empty a small can of tomato sauce on the bottom of the pan so the noodles don't bake to it and layer cooked noodles, meat sauce, ricotta cheese mixture and toss some mozzarella cheese on top. Repeat these layers again.

Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes. YUM!!

I grate a little nutmeg and add an egg to the ricotta.
Whole milk mozarella

Home made sauce with tiny meatballs and sausage.

I buy the noodles at a pasta shop.

Good grated cheese.

This is not the easiest nor the cheapest recipe for lasagna but it is my absolute favorite. I had this meatball lasagna at Patsy's restaurant in NYC and just loved it. The restaurant was Frank Sinatra's favorite and the night we ate there we saw Lisa Minella having dinner. A few weeks later I saw Sal Scognamillo the owner and chef at Patsy's prepare this lasagna on the Martha Stewart show. The recipe and a video of Sal making the lasagna can be found on Martha's web site at http://www.marthastewart.com:80/recipe/patsys-meatball-lasagna?xsc=stf_MSLO-RECIPE

At least with the video you can see what you are getting into so you can decide if it is something you'd like to attempt.
