You guys who have sailed in September... how is it really? What are the chances of bad weather. How were the seas? Any advice?
I'm seriously thinking of booking then... cuz I can't wait to get back.
Thanks
Sandie

Although it is supposed to be a part of hurricane season i think, we did not experience any problems. The seas seemed to be the same to me as the other times of the years that we have cruised, and the weather was outstanding for us.

September is a great time to cruise, but don't tell anyone. The rates are low because people don't want to cruise because they are afraid of huricanes. If every one finds out how great it is, the prices will go up. So keep it a secret. Maybe this post will self destruct after you read it.
We took our first ever cruise in September 2000. We liked it so much that we cruise again in September 2001 and have another one booked for September 2002. If there is any chance of a huricane in the vicinity of the ports, they re-route elsewhere. So as long as you don't have your heart set on the specific ports, you should have no problem. I have heard from people who have cruised both in September and December, that the seas where actually rougher in December.
Good Luck any way you go.

Our first cruise was 9/98 and we thought it was perfect. We have since sailed in March and May. We like Sept. so much we are going again this year. Prices are cheaper, the water and air temps are great and if a hurricane comes along we go some where else.
Remember, don't tell anyone else.

We have had 14 - 20 ft swells and have had sea sick days but we still always go in Sept. We have missed hurricanes by being lucky several years.
I have to say though that hurricanes are prevalent in Sept and can ruin a cruise. If your heart is set on specific ports and you are a 'planner' it would be best to plan for a different month. If you are going with a sense of adventure and won't mind diversions to who knows where, then Sept is a great month to go.

Dave and Russ......OK, now that the secret is out, I have to add my opinion. I agree compleatly. We cruised in Jan and the water was a bit too cool for us to enjoy the pools or the water at CC. Sept2001 was fantastic. Not TOO hot, but water temps were excellent.
As far as hurricains go....I have lived in Fl (hurricane alley) and Charleston (Hugo 1989) and I would not hesitate to book in Sept. Hey, June is in "hurricane season" too.

Our first cruise was Sept. 2000 and we boarded during a hurricane, but by the next day all was great!
Our second cruise was Sept. 2001, and this time no problems at all.
We have our third cruise booked for Sept. 2002 (just 4 more months!!!!!) and can't wait. Now, it just happens that our twins have their birthday in September and that is how this 'tradition' started. This will be their third birthday on the cruise and we already know we are planning to go in Sept. 2003.
I fear we have started a tradition that won't end!

Whew. You guys are awesome. That's why I like this board more than any other. The people always help.
Now to find the money. :D Oh well... it's only money, eh?
