If not, what is the latest you can add it? Thanks so much!

If you have a package reservation, the latest you can add it is 72 hours before your check-in date. You cannot add it at check-in.

There are reports that if you make any changes to your package reservation within 2 weeks of check-in you will be assessed a $10 processing fee.

If you decrease the cost of your package within 45 days of check-in you will be assessed a $50 change fee. Adding the dining plan increases the cost, so it won't be assessed this fee. I have seen one post that indicates WDW MAY start charging the $50 change fee for ANY changes made to a package reservation within 45 days of check in starting in 2009.

Thank you TDC Nala,

I am actually a passholder, so I have a room only reservation. They are actually offering the passholders the DP. I was thinking of adding it closer to our trip. My reservation would actually change into a package I guess. I wonder how it would work. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it!

You're correct, your reservation would need to be changed to a room/dining package. If you convert to a package within 45 days of check-in you will be required to pay the full amount due on the entire package.

You can't change your reservation to a package at check-in. Since you can't make changes to package reservations within 3 days of check-in I'd think you need to do it before that.

Thank you again TDC Nala,
I appreciate your input. I see you are getting ready to go to New Zealand and Australia - I am so jealous. I have been there two times in the last 4 years and love it there. Have you been there before? I cannot wait to go back! Thanks again for your help!

No, I've never been to Australia or New Zealand before, and I'm glad to be going in January when it's summer there.

From Disney:

Effective for arrivals January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009

Changes to reservation- For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change of package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change

Keep in mind if you have a room only it will have to be cancelled and your deposit refunded then your AP/Dining package would have to be payed in full at the time of booking if its within 45 days from travel

Hi, justplaingoofy...just wanted to mention the above only applies to a downgrade on a reservation, not an upgrade. I just upgraded my package today (42 days out) and no change fee was charged. CM specifically told me "there's never a charge for an upgrade change. The fee is charged for downgrades only."

I appreciate you clarifying that. If that is the case they really need to specify a little more clearly. Especially where it says "For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change of package price"

oh, I agree completely with you on this one...a lot of their contract language on the reservation confirmations is about as clear as mud. (all that really, really fine print at the bottom!)

And then there's the call-3-CM's-get-3-different-answers you see mentioned so often - almost like talking to the IRS help lines:lmao:

...that's why today, even after I asked the CM & she said "there's no change fee for an upgrade" I wasn't going to believe her until she ran the thing through the system & told me the new cost. I was almost expecting her to say "$178" which would have been the Deluxe upgrade for 2 adults/2 nights plus $50 for the change. So I was VERY relieved when it was $128. I figured as long as the actual reservation system was delivering the totals, the CM must have had it right...this time anyway!:rotfl:

I've heard of a $10 change fee for 2008 if same or more. had to switch properties within 2 weeks of arrival and was charged $10 which the TA said it was the change fee.

But I had called CRO a day before asking for my same package price (as a new one) to see if there was availability and the price was $10 more than my rez. So I guess I never was charged a change fee, but that the other resort ended up being $10 more for some reason...
