...for so long.

I just popped into chat to see if there was any news about the rebroadcast of the Gaylord Palms show. Got there just in time to see someone posting about how they hoped that those Podchat people wouldn't be there.

Don't they realize that we're Pete's Special Children????

Yea...I believe you're right Ursula. I heard someone mention how chat was being abused by people who were just popping in there and using it as their own "trash can".

I was late getting into chat one night and I remember the group in chat saying that they hope the "pod people" stay out. :rotfl: pod people..
I am a pod person special child! Yea, I have no identity issues..:rotfl2:

on more than one occasion I have wondered into chat on a non podchat night, and they really don't like us in their club house of sorts.

I dont really understand the seperation between pod people and board people - dont the board people understand what they are missing?

I think we can be a bit intimidating as most of us know each other's "real" names and a lot of details about our group's personal lives and sometimes we have a tendancy to start conversations about things we're aware of and familiar with, but others aren't...so it's a natural instinct to feel somewhat "excluded" when that happens. I know it's not intentional, but I can honestly say it happens in all the chats because I've felt the same way myself when I've tried the DVC or trip planning chats a few times.

OK I'm confused. There was chat last night and it was shutdown because people were talking junk about us? :confused3

You know, in all honesty, as I'm still relatively new here, I can understand how other people that don't browse the pod board could feel a tad left out....HOWEVER, I have found that my posts on the pod board receive much NICER and polite responses than if I post elsewhere. The people here seem to really and genuinely care about each other, and to me, seem much nicer, so I don't really think that it's a BAD thing...if others feel left out for whatever reason....the solution is simple....come join in lol. The people here don't bite.

Just my two cents.

No, no, it wasn't shut down. Kevin checked it out and moderated for a bit. It got much nicer after that.

I have noticed that there is a group of people that frequent chat that get "put out" when us pod people show up. I guess they feel steamrollered. I get it...we're a tight group with lots of inside jokes. But mostly we take over chat during our scheduled Wednesday night chat time, and occasionally when there's a reason otherwise.

I don't think they pay attention to the schedule, so it can't be that they're offended that we're invading their scheduled time. I think they just get all worked up because they don't know us, and since they have the chatroom all to themselves most nights, see us as interlopers.

I think we're the "Brazilian Tour Group" of the chatroom!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am not wearing green soccer jerseys and doing rally chants on the bus, but I will cut in line and push though people that are obviously waiting.

I think both calypso*a*go-go and UrsulasShadow have raised good points. When a chat room gets crowded it becomes harder to have conversations or join one and it moves faster so questions, welcomes, comments get lost which can lead to people feeling ignored. I do think that most people in the chat rooms know the topic of the night and are happy to chat about that topic but when there are the same 10 people there every night, a chat room begins to feel more like a private room. Similarly when the active participants on the podcast board and avid listeners to the podcast participate in a chat in large enough numbers, the room changes its tenor and becomes more like the largest vocal group's private domain. The chat room is for the entire DIS Board community based on the schedule and topics for each night. Sometimes a little tolerance goes a long way on both sides.

Who's going to carry the flag around at TSM during Mousefest? :) Also, who needs jerseys when we're getting the new cool Dis Unplugged shirts?
