I would like to do an ATC swap, but I have never hosted before, plus I m not computer savvy to do all the listings that everyone does.:confused3
I know, I am a dumbo right?:rotfl2:
Maybe we can do it after the holidays if there are interests. Thanks for checking me out.

:dumbo: Not.
The lists are just copied and pasted from other swaps. Then we change the particulars to match what we want - Due dates, check in dates, groups, element requirements, etc.

Now here is my Dumbo question - What is an ATC and what do you need to make one?

Can you tell me more about it? Some examples would help too. Thanks!

Sure, they are called "Artist Trading Cards". They measure 2.5x3.5. You double matt them & you can embelly them how you want. I find them to be really fun.
You collect them. It's kinda like how guys collect their baseball cards & trade them. Then they keep them in a plasic sleeve. You can paper peice them, put stickers, stamp them. All kinds of stuff. Plus, there are ATC swaps as well like how we do here. I haven't joined any, but I think I might. But I'd prefer to start one with you all:goodvibes
When you go to a crafting convention, you can wear a button that says "I swap ATC's" & boy let me tell ya, they start flocking.

It's also like when you go to Disney & we trade the pins with the cast members. It's a great way to see peoples ideas & keep them for people to look at. You can make a book for the one's you want to keep, & another book for the ones you want to swap. Of course you would make several of the same ones to swap with people. I have gotten really hooked on them. I wish we could do that here!:yay:

Is that a good enough explanation? I feel like I just wrote a novel,:rotfl2:

Do you have a link or a site that I can go look at some?

Michi Belle

Ok here is a site that is cool & started to do swaps. A lot of people seem to do clip art & vintage pics (which I love). We can totally do stuff with Disney as well. I'm warning you though, we can get VERY hooked...

http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/atcnov03.html Let me know if this link works.

Here's another one. See if this attachment works. This website will give you the basics & explanations.
<a href="http://www.altered-art.net/make-artist-trading-cards.html"><b>How to make Artist Trading Cards - basics and backgrounds</b></a>sics & an explanation.

Here is one I found.

and
http://www.cedarseed.com/air/atc.html

What I don't see is what goes on the other side?

Michi Belle
12-05-2008, 10:06 AM
All you put on the other side is a label with your info. Your name, & mayber email. So lets say someone really likes your card, they can email you & ask how you made & with what materials. It's just a card you see from the front. Very easy, but fun stuff to do.:goodvibes

If you search the gallery at Two Peas, you will find a ton. There are some Disney ones on there too.

I think a swap like this could be interesting.

Thanks New England Eyore. Here is a pic onf one...

Umm, mayber not. It's not letting me paste it. She has some cute one's of Donald Duck & Woody on there..

I just got a vintage set Mad Hatter stamps that I am itching to use! They would be perfect to swap with for ATC's. We can even start a monthly ATC swap group. But, we can do 1 first & see how everyone likes it. We can do Disney themed if you'd like. Everyone will get some Mad Hatter's from me, that's guarenteed!
How does February Sound? Of course people wanting to do it who have an interest.

I thought I would help my non-computer savvy friend with photos, so anyone interested wouldn't have to go looking for Disney examples. These are not mine - I found them online in someone's public Flickr account. They are really cute, and don't use stamps, which ATCs are primarily stampers items.

Sounds like fun!!! I love to swap but I am getting to the point where I have too many items to use. I just got some new tools today that could be fun with doing these though.

I think this is interesting too, not sure about the Feb timing for me.

Michi Belle
12-05-2008, 02:29 PM
Yay! Well, I guess we may some possible interests. I was thinking maybe doing sign ups in February & due date in March. That way it gives everyone plenty of time to think of what they want to do & make them since we have a ton of other swaps out there. But I will cjeck the calendar to see which month is the slowest fo swaps.
The only thing I am worried about is the computer stuff. I have my good friend Mischief_Managed that can guide me through this.

I will wait to see how many possible interests I have. Please go ahead & post if this is something you'd like to do & I will go ahead & figure out what kind of groups I want to do.

Thanks a lot everyone for sharing your opinions with me...:yay:

Ok, no prob. I will check the calendar. I will think of what to do for the swap. Once that is done, I will email Bamb & see if they will approve it.

Marlynnp, your lucky to have it already. I will get it as soon as we get going on the atc's. I'm super excited. :cheer2:

Maybe that can be one of the requirements?
On the back we have to put a small picture of us, like we do with the circle journals?

The other thing that is totally cool about doing these is one you get a group together of swapper who enjoy making these, we can swap Holiday ATC, Altered ATC pockets, make birthday ATC for each other's b-days, the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!

Michi Belle
12-07-2008, 05:16 PM
You guys are too!:rotfl2: Your right though, the possibilities are endless. You CAN use them in your scrapbooks too, but you DO want to keep extras to just have to look at & show others. I'm really excited that you guys are interested. We can do a ton with this.
Like you said Tinkerbean, one month we can have a b-day atc swap, then holidays, vintage, Disney, words, yo uname it!:cheer2:
Would you guys like to do a Disney one first, or does that not matter? I will certainly take suggestions & work them in.
Also, if everyone likes the 1st swap, would you want to do one like every month & a half or so? Thanks yall!!!:flower3:

I think this sounds interesting. I would definitely consider signing up for this one, but I think I'll wait for the specifics until I say 'yes' for sure. (i.e. how many in a group, and specifications for embellishments, etc. On a budget here...) I've heard of these before, but had never really seen any until now. Its such a cute idea!

How DARE you sow me cute stuff and stamps to tempt even more ££££ out of my purse??:lmao: This looks so much fun:banana: but I'm not sure how you do the vintage pics - do you print it from your computer and paste on, or buy the stuff (like for decoupage?). I like that they are small = not too much cardstock:thumbsup2 but like pretty intink I'd want to see how many in a group etc.

I'd love to do an Easter group - I've got some cute chick stuff:goodvibes

Michi Belle
12-08-2008, 08:05 AM
I believe I would only have 6 in a group at the most, because finances are tight for everyone including myself. We can totally do a holiday theme, even though X-mas & Thanksgiving will have passed. I will include an Easter catagory for you.
They will have to be double matted, & have at least two embellie's on them. Whether it's stickles, sticker's, brads, eyelets, ribbon. The same applies for our regular swaps. I'm working on what other catagories I want for this.
As Tinkerbean said, they look like really cool business cards!:yay:

MazdaUk,
So sorry about thaty, hahah:banana:
As far as Vintage, you can totally download a ton of Vintage pics from clipart & use that. There are such cool looking one's. I am a sucker for vintage looking things. I thought that the women were so beautiful then. Because that's how Real women looked. I saw a website that swapped naked vintage atc's. They were so beautiful....

Hey, its not THAT difficult to get me to spend:lmao:
Not sure if my printer is good enough to print things off and get them looking that nice, but I've got a couple of sources for other stuff, and there's always stickers etc:thumbsup2

What DH will love is that they are small
