Solo trip anxiety...

OK, so I have always vacationed to WDW with friends or family in the past, but this upcoming trip in January 11th - 18th will be my first solo trip :confused3 . I don't want to cancel it because my use year is Feb and these points are old & will drop off in Feb if I don’t use them between now a then. So I have an entire week planned, 3 nights at SSR and 4 nights at AKV.
My friend I'd planned on going with cancelled about a week ago due to money restraints, which I completely understand, however now I have two airline tix and my week long rental. I've called several friends and fam members, but no one can get away for the 8 days this short of notice.
So long story short, I'm still going, but just me...and worse, it’s my birthday on the 13th:thumbsup2 . Can anyone let me know if there are any group meets of any kind planned, or if any other groups of people are also going solo? Trust me, I'm looking forward to rocking the single rider line benefits ;) , but would like to get together with friends occasionally too.

I am sure there will be plenty of people going during that time, just keep a lookout throughout the threads.
This is the exact same thing that forced me into my first solo trip back in March, I would have never tried solo if I hadnt been forced to do so. I had rented a lovely condo had the car etc etc and then at the last moment my traveling companion backed out on me. I am surprised you cant find any family members/friends to go with you.... I truly enjoyed myself and had a great time and I am sur eyou will as well so dont let it put a damper on your excitement!!!!!

Cool, I'm hoping to just get some get some get togethers set-up sometime during the week. Yeah, as far as my family goes, if it was a shorter trip I think they could join me, but Sun - Sun is not that easy for them I guess. Plus, they would have to either meet me there, or fly out with me from Phoenix. I'm the only one in my fam that lives in AZ. The rest are in CO, UT, PA, or CA.

Unfortunately I had to give up unlimited text messaging to be able to afford to make the move down here... oh the sacrifices :rolleyes:

I'm having the same problem right now...only bad news is my vacation is in two days! I've had this trip planned for a year. My DBF and I planned the vacation and got engaged in disney in September and he broke up with my Thanksgiving night. I'm completely devastated, but was hoping we'd maybe work it out by now. We've been together 5 and 1/2 years. All of my friends and family have work or finals in college next week so they can't come. My cousin agreed to come but then backed out today after I bought her airfare and park pass. I've had so much dissapointment in the last week and am considering trying a solo trip but I just think it would be too lonely. I'm still on the fence and have to come up with a decision tomorrow so I atleast don't lose all my DVC points. I'm staying two nights at BCV, 3 at AKV, and one at the GF. Do you guys ever find that going to TS restaurants is just too weird alone?

I'm determined to go on this trip...but it is not looking good for me....it would have been my first xmas disney trip too!

In my humble opinion, I would still go. I'm thinking that if you use the buffet lines, you'll be able to strike up a conversation with people. Take the savannah safari at AKV, you'll meet people there and will dine with them. You'll find people to talk to in the lines at the parks. And it would probably do you good to get away from the disappointment, at least for six nights.

Yes, you should go...if anything the trip is paid for and you can just relax in a beautiful resort. If you want to go to the parks, you can, but if I was in your situation I would probably just hang out at the hotel, enjoy my leisure time, and take advantage of the dining.

I'm going, I didn’t want to at first because at Disney you always see people hanging out with friends and fam they traveled with, and it’s not always easy to go it alone for that many days. There are a lot of friendly Diser's on here though, so if you do go, I'm sure you will have some fun.
