We are taking the auto train back form out trip on 9/2. We were doing to get a Family Bedroom but I was just looking at the Deluxe ones also.

Its my husband and my self and 2 kids, almost 10 and almost 3. Here is the description of the Deluxe bedroom:

Deluxe Bedrooms
The ultimate in sleeping car travel. By day, our Deluxe Bedroom provides a comfortable, cushy sofa and arm chair with a great view of the scenery, or your own private video entertainment. You can stretch out, relax, even nap. At night, they convert to a wide lower berth and comfortable upper berth.

You also have a private sink, vanity, fully enclosed private shower and toilet.

Complimentary Meals are included.

The beds are bigger and I think my husband and toddler could take the lower larger bunk, my son can take the top bunk and I can take the recliner.
When going through to make the reservations it does not say I have to many people for this size room.

Has anyone used the Deluxe room and think this will be ok?

I hope you won't be disappointed, but I would strongly advise you not to try for one deluxe bedroom. If you notice, the bed measurements are not even the size of a single twin bed. I took the train last Sept. right after 9/11 and stayed in a deluxe bedroom. While the service was exemplary, the accommodations are very snug. For 2 you would be fine, but not for 4. The chair, btw, does not recline either. Good luck, we were going to take the train with our 2 kids this Oct., but have decided to drive instead. I really did enjoy the train (went to Fla on business...so didn't take kids), but I wouldn't subject us to one deluxe bedroom. You can however get adjoining rooms, but it is quite expensive.

Thanks kristielee, I ended up finding pictures after I posted and you are right. I think the family bedroom will be the best way to go.
