Hi Clare

As far as I know, Adrian :lovestruc and I will be there May 9 - May 16, and Vanessa and Colette will be there May 13 - May 20. Let us know what you are interested in doing and we'll make some plans! I know we are planning :teacher: some "communal meals" where we all get together May 13 - May 15 when the four of us will be there together, so we would love to have you join us! :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you expert solo/adult dis'ers :goodvibes

can I come in?

Hi! My name is Angela and I'm planning my first solo trip to WDW for my b-day!!! :dance3: :woohoo: (can you tell I'm excited? :lmao: )

I regretted not going this year for my 40th bday so much that I decided to that I am going in 2009 :cool1: :cool1:

I'll be there from May 12th - May 19th. I'll be staying at the All Star Music.

The only thing I have planned so far is being in the Magic Kingdom for my birthday on the 13th.

And that's exactly whe Adrian :lovestruc and I are going in May - to celebrate my 40th birthday (which is in July, but we wanted to take advantage of the :teacher: "Buy 4 Get 3 Free" special ;) )

I would imagine that we would all get together as a group for dinner on May 13, since that is about the only day everyone is there. :) Would anyone be interested in dinner at Le Cellier in Epcot that night? :hippie: Maybe we could see Illuminations and then check out the Boardwalk afterwards :wizard: (Now that the clubs on Pleasure Island are closed  :sad2: )

Hi Clare -

That sounds great. I've never eaten at the Plaza so that would be nice.

I'm pretty sure I'll be having breakfast at Crystal Palace before MK opens. Let me know if you'd like to join me

When is your birthday?

Welcome Angela! We would love to have you join our group! :) Let us know what you are interested in doing, and what some of your favorite restaurants are. ;) :goodvibes

Thanks Rich! It looks like we are all in the same age group. :thumbsup2 I was afraid I'd be the old lady trying to hang with some young whippersnappers :rotfl2: (disclaimer: I am not nor have I ever been anti-youth...:goodvibes )

The only definite thing that I have planned is spending my birthday (May 13th) in the Magic Kingdom :cloud9: I want to do an early breakfast at Crystal Palace and thanks to an invite from Clare, I'll be having lunch at the Plaza.

The plans for the rest of my trip are pretty loose at this point. Its hard because I don't know the park hours for May so I don't know which days I'll be visiting each park. I plan to spend at least 1 day at DHS and 1 day at DAK.

I also plan to spend 1 or 2 days at EPCOT mainly in the World Showcase. I have been to EPCOT three times and have never fully explored the WS (thanks to my kids who find it boring :scared1: ) But since this is a solo trip, I can finally do what I want to do :cool1:

I have a few restaurants that I would like to try - Kona, Yak and Yeti, Le Cellier, San Angel Inn and The Wave.

I too am very sad that they closed Pleasure Island. I had been to WDW 4 times and I had never heard of the Adventurer's Club. I only learned about it on the DIS when it was announced that it was closing. My boys and I went to the AC during our trip this past August and had so much fun!!! I really hope they bring the AC back!

OMG Rich that is way too spooky - although I'm 'celebrating' my 40th in May, my actualy birthday is in July too!

Le Cellier sounds great - can I ask that it's after 6.00 pm though? As I'm returning home on the 14th, I have to do online checkin at 5.20 pm.

Just a thought - if it helps - I'm staying CL at the BW so if you'd like me to I can ask the IPO to book Le Cellier for us, but no problem if you'd rather do it yourself.

Sounds like a great plan!

Well it will soon be time to start making ADR's for our trip! :cheer2: So far we have a dinner at Le Cellier in Epcot On Wed May 13 at about 6:30 PM. Where else would people like to eat, and on what day?

(Adrian mentioned Lunch or Dinner at Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios, and Vanessa/Aubriee and I were talking about the Character Dinner at 1900 Park Fair)

Let me know what your thoughts are, and I'll start compiling a "Master ADR List." Thanks! ::yes:: :upsidedow :rotfl:

Le Cellier (Epcot Canada)

Ohana (Polynesian Resort) Dinner
Prime Time 50's Cafe (Hollywood Studios) Lunch or Dinner
1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian Resort) Cinderella Character Dinner

Do any of these appeal to people? What other suggestions do you have? :upsidedow

At this point, no. But once the May hours are released and I can figure out which parks I'll be visiting and on which days, I might have some suggestions.

If they are still only showing Fantasmic a few nights a week, I was thinking about doing the Fantasmic Package at the Brown Derby. But the day I select would be based on which days Fantasmic is being shown.

I'll be glad when February gets here :crazy2:

Hi Rich!

Count me in for Le Cellier and Ohana. I think I'll pass on the others though. I can't see using two dining credits for the Brown Derby, but due to WDW cutting down on the number of Fantasmic performances, I'll probably go ahead and do the Fantasmic pkg this trip, but will be doing Mama Melrose, (since it's only one credit). I bet Fantasmic is packed now with the decreased number of performances.:sad2:

I plan on doing a couple of backstage tours this trip, so will be busy and will just be catching you guys here and there.:flower3: I'll probably be in Epcot both Saturday night (5/9) and Friday night (5/15), since they've cut the Flower Power Concerts back to only the weekends. I hope to do the Backstage Magic tour on Wed. It ends up back in Epcot, I believe, so Le Cellier on Wed would be perfect.

I know you already have all my info. Can't wait to get you on Expedition Everest.:lmao: Don't worry Adrian and I will both hold your hand.

When I met up with a few DISers for breakfast @ Crystal Palace before the park opened, my mom & brother were walking with me. My brother was wearing his Red Sox shirt, and we overheard the guys behind us commenting on the Red Sox because of his shirt.

Hi Floydian

Welcome to the 40 Club!!!

Don't worry about celebrating your birthday late. I'm doing a late birthday celebration since I turned 40 last year. In fact, none of us is celebrating our actual 40th birthday - some are late and some are early. So you would fit right in!

You should definately join us! You do not want to miss this!!! We are going to have some much fun.

If you don't want to take the whole week off, just take a few days.

Come on...you know you wanna ::yes::

I found the May 2009 hours posted on wdwinfo.com - http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/may09.cfm?requesttimeout=1000

I hope this isn't the final schedule - It looks like Fantasmic! is only being shown once and Spectromagic is only being shown twice during my entire trip. That can't be right?! Hopefully the blank spaces mean shows might added later?

Hi Rich -

I vote for Crystal Palace. That's where I want to have breakfast on my birthday.

If the majority vote to have breakfast at Chef Mickey on May 13th then we can meet up with at the MK after breakfast. Or if the group decides to not come to the MK, I can meet you all at EPCOT for dinner at Le Cellier.

Thanks!

Mon 5/11 Backstage Magic Tour at 9:00am

Tues 5/12 Boma 6:05pm, but plan to try for that new restaurant Sanaa at AKL as soon as they allow us to book ADRS for it (end of this month I hear, if you are not DVC)
Wed 5/13 Were you able to get Le Cellier, Rich?

Great! Thanks! Count me in then. I already know Rich and Adrian (in fact ate several nice meals with them this past Sept and also went on a cruise with Rich and a couple of other DISers in January), so shouldn't have any trouble finding everyone else. I'll probably be carrying my little lime green Overland Pacer bag with a lime green Mickey head on it. You got some great ADRs, by the way. I've never eaten at the Blue Zoo, but always say I'm going to try it one of these days. Have you tried the fish and clams at Tutto Italia? If you haven't it's very good and if you happen to be on the DDP, (like I usually am, lol), it's a very good value.

Sure, I'd love to have the company. I just called and changed the ADR to four people, so we have an extra seat if anyone wants it. Thanks for making the other reservations. The only thing with 'Ohana, is that I believe that is the only night Spectro is showing and Spectro is my favorite parade. Oh, well! I think Sun 5/10 is the only night Fantasmic is showing that week also. I love Fantasmic, but have a feeling it's going to be packed since it's only showing once that week.:sad2: I usually don't do the Fantasmic pkg, but was afraid not to this time, plus the Fantasmic pkg includes the appetizer even on the basic DDP at MM:woohoo: .

I'm thinking about signing up for some of the tours..(Backstage Safari Tour, Undiscovered Future World and Wild By Designs) anyone been on those?

I went on the Backstage Safari tour a couple of years ago and had a great time. We got to see where they prepare the animals' food, got to pet a white rhino and little spiny lizard, and got our own personal safari, minus the Little Red spiel. Anyway, it was a good tour. I've never gone on the Undiscovered Future World, but it sounds interesting. I'm going on the Wild by Design tour Thurs May 14th. Maybe, you could join me. I think it would give us all a greater perspective and appreciation for what they have done at AK. I am also going on the Backstage Magic tour Monday May 11th. It is more expensive, but is seven hours long, covers three parks(Epcot, DS, and MK), and it includes lunch at Whispering Canyon. Plus I'm sure you know you get discounts with AAA, Annual Pass, and Disney VISA. I saved 20% with my VISA.

I've had a hard time deciding which resort to stay at. I originally booked at POP Century, just because I haven't stayed there in the last several years. Then I started thinking about upgrading to POFQ (since I love that resort), but just stayed there last May and then stayed at PORS this past Sept. I then got to thinking about maybe trying AS Movies, since it's the only Value I've never stayed at and going by myself this trip, it seemed like a good chance (since I won't be in the room that much this trip). So I switched my reservation over there, just to try it. However, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to go back to POFQ. A room was available over there about 2 1/2 weeks ago, but then 2 weeks ago, suddenly no Moderates at all were available for the buy four, get three free offer, except a king room at CSR and a pirate room at CBR, neither if which I wanted. Anyway, I've been checking, just out of curiosity:rolleyes1 , everyday and just found a standard room at POFQ available (PORS still doesn't have any rooms for that week:mad: ). Anyway, I wasn't taking any more chances, so just called and changed my ressie to POFQ and feel, so much better. I still want to try AS Movies one day, just so I can say I've stayed at every Value and every Moderate resort, but just couldn't seem to make myself do it this trip. Was I wrong? Should I have tried at AS Movies, just to try it?:confused3

Anyone else have this much confusion over which resort to stay at? I have a friend who's going the end of July-early August and has never stayed anywhere (in six trips) except AS Music. I have another friend who never stays anywhere except POFQ. She did try PORS once and hated it, so has stayed at POFQ ever since. Am I the only one who likes to switch my resort up? I've stayed at AS Sports, AS Music, POP, POFQ, PORS, CBR, CSR, WL, AKL, and BW and have enjoyed all of them.

Hi aubriee -

I had the same dilemma as you in terms of deciding which resort to choose. So far I have stayed at Pop (3 xs) and AKL (1 x). I want to try to stay at every resort so I figured this would be a good time to try something different.

I was originally booked in a Family Suite at ASMu but once I decided to do a solo trip, I knew I didn't need that much space. I looked at POFQ and CSR since those are the next two resorts I'd like to try but I decided against it.

Since this trip is major splurge, I figured I better stick with a value so I picked ASMo.

I'm happy with my choice but if I come up with the necessary funds, I would love to try a moderate or dare I say it...a deluxe resort :goodvibes

I always love wherever I stay, but you know it's funny the things that are important to us on a particular trip. I went back and forth between POP, AS Movies, and POFQ debating on if I wanted to spend the extra $222.00. I wanted AS Movies only because I've never stayed there. I wanted POP because I haven't stayed there in several years, for the slushie machines, and for the music that plays at the bus stops.:rotfl: I finally decided on POFQ because of the ceiling fans, the shaded covered bus stops, and the boat to DTD. The other perks at a moderate didn't really interest me. I just wanted the air movement from the ceiling fan and the shaded covered bus stops:rotfl: .

Look what you made me do - I just called and switched to the Port Orleans French Quarter :cool1:

When you said the price difference was only $222.00, I figured "what the heck, I'm worth $222!!!"

One of the main reasons I decided to switch is I was wondering what I would do in the evening since the parks close so early. Now I can spend time exploring POFQ!!!

This trip just keeps getting better and better!!!!

Now wait just a gosh darn tuttin minute! I am innocent, innocent I tell you!:rotfl: I was just thinking it's funny the things that are important to us in a resort. Some people like the enclosed hallways of the deluxe, whereas I prefer the open walkways of a Value or Moderate. I love the buses, so staying on a monorail resort doesn't even interest me. I don't use the pools, so the pool amenities mean nothing to me. I seldom use the restaurant at my resort, so again those mean nothing to me. However, I do like the ceiling fans, covered bus stops, and the boats to DTD and, for this trip at least, was willing to pay the $222.00 to upgrade from my preferred room at AS Movies to POFQ to get them. Call me strange, but it was really the covered bus stops that made me switch.:confused3 Now the year I rented DVC points and stayed in a studio at BW was great. I spent most of my time that trip at Epcot for the Flower Festival and it was great being able to just walk over there. Seriously I think you'll love POFQ. I've stayed there a couple of times before and just love it. The CMs are all so great and so very friendly. If we both get back from the parks in time, maybe we can go hear the jazz musician over at the Scats Club and don't forget they have bignets in the food court. YUM!!!

You are supposed to be there for the tours at least 15-30 minutes early I believe, so I'd be waiting at the bus stop by 7:15-7:30am. Believe me an AK bus will come along and what's great is they are always almost totally empty.

I thought you guys were staying at the Wilderness Lodge.:confused3

By the way, are you going back in Sept for free dining? Mark and my mom say they're not going back this year, but they always say that, then change their minds at the last minute. I booked the bounceback offer last Sept when we were all there, but changed my dates last week to Sept 26th-Oct 4th. I think Kat and ANTS are going to be there the same week. That's not why I changed my dates though. I just decided I wanted to be there for the start of the Food & Wine Festival. YUM!! I'll probably also be going back in Dec. need to check for sure when POP Warner is there. I usually try to arrive the weekend they are leaving. lol

I usually try to arrive the weekend they are leaving. lol

OOOOO you're going in OCT!!!! Antss is planning on joining me and Mom and Dad for some ADRs you are welcome to as well! :goodvibes

Oh guys, I could really use some pixie dust right now. It's been a terrible last couple of days. Thursday my younger son and D-I-L got taken to court by her parents and lost. Long story, but they are both a basket case right now and swear they hate her parents and will never speak to them again. I went to court with them and as soon as we got out, I called my elder son to let him know how it came out and he sounded so depressed. He said that it was just turning out to be a horrible day all the way around. When he showed up for work that morning they were told the company was downsizing and either people were going to be laid off or else everyone's hours were going to be cut, neither option of which he can afford. Just before I called him, his best friend (since first grade) called him to tell him he'd just gotten laid off and had no prospects. This friend and his wife just bought a house last year, had a baby in November, and the wife quit work and just started back to school. They don't know what they're going to do. It was just a bad day all day. Then the final blow fell that evening when my elder son again got a call. His other best friend (again since first grade) had shot himself in the head. Apparently he and his wife had been seperated for the last two months and she served him with divorce papers Thursday. He was only 30 years old and left two year old and a seven year old sons. My elder son is now as big a basket case as my younger son and D-I-L are. He's been asked to be a pall bearer for the funeral this weekend and says he has no idea how he's going to do it. He and Matt have been best friends for the last 24 years. His parents were also our neighbors for that long. That kid lived at my house growing up. I loved him as much as my own sons and just can't believe he would do something like this. He and his dad were both volunteer firemen, and of course he spent his entire life in the same small town, so everyone knew and loved the family. The whole community is just in shock. Between his younger brother's problems with his in-laws, his problems at his own job, his best friend losing his job, and now his other best friend committing suicide all in the same day, my elder son is not coping well. To top matters off my younger son's son turns four tomorrow and we have a birthday party to go to in the morning before the funeral. There's too many people coming from out of town to cancel it, so we have to act happy for a couple of hours, before going to a funeral.

Thanks guys! Maybe I shouldn't have posted it here. I didn't mean to bring anyone down, but the day I posted about Matt killing himself, I was just so upset and in such shock. I still find it hard to believe he did it. That has to be the hardest funeral I've ever been to. He has a twin sister and another sister that two years older than him, but he was the only boy and was always the golden son, if you know what I mean. His poor family are just taking it so hard, of course. A mother should not have to bury her 30 y/o son and a two year old and a seven year old should not have to grow up knowing their dad killed himself over their mother. My elder son was a pall bearer and is having such a hard time dealing with it. He just keeps saying that he saw Matt last weekend and can't understand why he just didn't call him, so he could help him. Thanks again for your prayers and good thoughts!

I'm sorry everyone but I'm not going to be able to make it for Le Cellier on the 13th due to a friend driving from Tampa to see me that afternoon. However, I'm definitely still OK for the Brown Derby on the 12th and Crystal Palace on the 13th, and also Jelly Rolls :dance3:

Is there still a spare spot for Cape May on the 10th?

I will be taking my first solo trip May 10 - 15, staying at VWL. Would be interested in possibly meeting up with some DIS'ers. Are you folks going to be doing attractions together as well as dining? As far as dining, is your Brown Derby or Crystal Palace option full? Sorry for getting in so late but I have been off DIS for a while. Thanks and have a good day.

Welcome to our group! :grouphug: Let me call Disney Dining and see if I can get a table for 6 for Hollywood Brown Derby. Clare is in charge of the Crystal Palace ADR, so I'll defer to her on that.

PS What is your first name so I can add it to the list? ;) Also, what is your T-Shirt size so Adrian can add you to the group "surprise" ?
