Welcome to the “Nothing ever goes right but who cares!” Report. I’m writing this for a couple of reasons, one I love my friends on the DIS and promised my November 2008 buddies a report of some kind, and two my DBF (Adam) and I got engaged on our trip.:lovestruc I am so excited about the engagement but I don’t even know where to begin as far as planning a wedding is concerned. I should also mention the DF and I bought a house together and are still in the process of unpacking remodeling, so as far as a wedding is concerned we are not planning on anything until atleast 2010. So that being said lets get into the report…
I was so excited for this vacation, I had everything planned and couldn’t wait to get on the plane. The day before we left was Nov. 1st and I had a hair appointment scheduled for 10 that morning so I could have my hair colored. **side note** I had a feeling that the then DBF was up to something due to some weird behavior the few days leading up to the vacation so it was very very important to me to look my best! Anyway I went in to see my hairdresser who I’ve been seeing for 5 years and was telling her all about how excited I was for my trip. I have a hard time sitting still and was bobbing my head around to the tune of the mickey mouse club:rolleyes1 when the hair dye started to drip down my head. No biggie I thought, it happens all the time it’ll come off with that dye remover stuff later. **another side not** please notice the title of this report. So DBF came to pick me up after my hair was all done and my hair dresser said “oh honey come here let me get that dye off of your forehead! You don’t want to look like that in pictures!” She came at me with a face cloth full of dye remover and started to scrub my head. This had been done many times before to me but it especially stung this time. I didn’t think too much about it and we left the salon. On the drive home DBF looked over at me and said “ummm I think you should take a look at your forehead it doesn’t look too good!” I pulled down the visor mirror and to my horror the dye remover had burned the skin right off of my forehead!!! :scared1: I cried for a good 20 mins. How could this have happened? I’d gone to the same hairdresser and used the same products for 5 years and this time I end up looking like a burn victim?? Ok Ok, I wasn’t going to let this small little inconvenience completely ruin this trip that I’d been planning for over a year. So like a good girl I sucked it up and finished packing.
The next morning we woke up at 5am and packed up the car and left for the airport. We got to the airport and DBF was insisting that he carry the carry-on backpack. So I let him have it, heck what did I want to carry it for anyway? We went over to the café and had some Dunkin for breakfast before heading through security. We finished breakfast and headed over to security. We got the the front of the line and we took off our shoes and put everything including the backpack onto the xray machine. I was waiting for the attendent to wave me through the metal detector when I heard in the nastiest voice “Huh, looks like someone is getting a nice engagement ring on their vacation.” ……. I was completely stunned. I couldn’t move. I looked back at DBF who looked like he was either going to beat the man or cry and I just said “oh my god”. We both walked through the metal detector and over to our gate without saying a word. I didn’t know what to do. I grabbed my cell phone and ran to the bathroom crying. I called and woke my mother and told her what happened. She told me to stop crying and to go be with Adam. She said he was upset enough and I would make it worse if he saw me this upset. So I washed my face and walked over to security and expained what happened to a manger who looked like she could give a flying elephants butt and then returned to my seat at the gate next to Adam. I hugged him and told him that the guy was a jerk and not to worry about it. I told him I still didn’t know what it looked like or how he was going to ask so to just forget it even happened. I also made him laugh alittle when I said “honestly, did you think you could as me of all people to marry you without something going wrong?? HELLOOOO look at my forehead! I’m bad luck!” He said he was ok (I knew he still wasn’t) and we boarded the plane.
During the flight I got his mind off of what had happened, we played hang man, and tic tac toe, and talked about what we were going to do once we got to the hotel. Once we got off of the plane we had honestly forgotten (as much as we could) about the terrible event at security. We walked over to the ME podium and got right on the bus headed for the AKV, no wait at all! I was so excited I was bouncing up and down in my seat. We were the last to be dropped off and I couldn’t believe the resort. What a beautiful place. We walked into the lobby and our mouths hit the floor! **side not** AKV is a HUGE upgrade from our 2007 trip when we stayed at ASSp. Here are some pictures…

We went to our room and I couldn’t believe the sights! We had a savannah view room! I was so excited.

After we got settled into our room we went on alittle exploration of the hotel. It was magnificent. We hung out by the pool and then headed back to the room. Our luggage had arrived from ME so we got ready for our ADR at Boma that night. We went alittle early but they seated us within a few mins. What an awesome dinner we had! It was yummy! I was worried DBF wouldn’t like it but he was a good sport and tried alittle of everything and he thought it was great. After dinner we went back up to the room and got into bed. We put on the TV and watched the TOP7 with stacey (DBF likes her lol) and fell asleep.

This looks like a good place to stop for right now… but one more things you as readers should know. This isn’t your average trip report. Once the trip report is over I’m going to be needing your help! My family is , for lack of a better term, pretty immature. My sisters are too young and my mother is to into herself lately to help me with anything that has to do with a wedding. I was talking to my boss at work the other day about throwing an engagement party and she was appauled that I was throwing one for myself. But again nothing in my life goes as planned which is not always a bad thing so I’m going to need the help and advice of you guys to help with all things wedding once the trip report part is over… everyone game?

Alright- so I went and read it- omg- I knew the secret was spilled, but dang, reading how it happened (again)- I was furious all over again! Stupid, stupid people.:sad2:

And you know what? A wedding-( planning one)-- is so much fun. :lovestruc
Yes, you must remind yourself that if it can go wrong, it most probably will- it's Murphy's Law after all (WHO THE HECK WAS MURPHY AND WHY WAS HE SO FREAKIN COOL THAT HE GOT A LAW???) ;)
but -it will be your wedding and even the smallest detail that goes horribly wrong- that seems ginormous at the time, will all fade into the background when it's all over with.

As long as you sign the document- and you say "I do" that's all that matters.

Can't wait to go on this journey with ya'!

Congratulations on your engagement! I was so shocked at what that security agent said - plus the manager didn't even seem to care  I am so anxious to read how your fiance proposed and I'm hoping it was still magical for the both of you!

You have a whole bunch of friends here on the Boards who will help you in any way we can for your upcoming wedding :grouphug:

Day two!
I was up very very very early… try 5:30am early! I stayed in bed however and tried to go back to sleep. It didn’t work so I ran through what we were going to do that day in my head. After the whole thirty seconds that took I decided to get up. I knew DBF was going to want coffee so I started it and went into the bathroom to take a shower and get ready. I came out of the bathroom to the whole room smelling like Disney made coffee… yes disney coffee has a distinct smell! I got dressed for the day did my hair and poured myself a cup. By this timei had made enough noise to wake DBF who made a B line straight for the coffee. I took my cup and went outside and sat on our lovely balcony. And these are some of the things I saw…

Once Adam was out of the shower and dressed he joined me outside and asked what we were doing today.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/17151000913_0_ALB.jpg
I told him we were heading to Chef Mickey’s for breakfast!! I checked the time and decided we should head to the MK bus. I went to grab the backpack and he took it out of my hands and said “can you wait for me outside? I’ll only be a second and I’ll carry the backpack.” I said ok and left the room… I totally didn’t go far and kept my ear to the door and heard the in room safe being opened… he was locking up the ring.. I wasn’t getting it today! Darn!
We made our way over to the buses, the lobby again made my mouth drop and the music made me feel like I was in africa. We got on the bus to the MK and then walked over to the CR. I realized that the expected travel time from AKV to the MK was definatly over shot because we arrived at chef mickey’s half an hour early! I checked us in anyway and within 20 mins we were seated. We had an awesome time! We actually sat next to people that were on the same MK bus from the AKV, it was kind of funny. We got pictures with everyone and the food was awesome… I’m a fan of goofy’s breakfast surprise, it was kind of like a breakfast pizza on steroids! Here are some of our pictures…Notice the lovely burn… bruns are very in fashion right now just so you know!

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/48151000913_0_ALB.jpg
After Chef Mickey’s we headed over to MK. We decided to take the scenic monorail route as opposed to the walk. I love the monorail. Adam laughs at me everytime I saw please stand clear of the doors in spanish. We finally got to MK and it wasn’t crowded at all! http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/39151000913_0_ALB.jpg

We rode everything we wanted to ride with little to no wait at all! Space mountain only had a 10 min wait! The only thing we needed a fast pass for was splash mountain and we got the fast pass, rode BTMRR, and then it was time for splash. We got on and were in the back of the log. It is one of my all time favorite rides so I was very excited as always and sang along with the songs. We got to the big drop and started going up and up and up. We were just about to go down and I threw my hands up, not knowing that Adam wanted to do a cute “kiss” picture and I punched him square in the mouth. :headache: Again Bad luck. So we got off the ride cracking up laughing and headed to the photo station. It was hilarioius, the picture caught us right after impact so you see adam holding his face and me (still with my arms up) looking at him like “Moron!”
After MK we decided to head over to HS for alittle while. During our 2007 trip RnRC was under rehab so we didn’t get to ride it. I had ridden it before but DBF has never been on it. We decided to hit that first. We walked over and there was a 20 min wait. I figured we’d get a fast pass and just go do another ride. We got our fast pass and as we were leaving a nice guy and his son asked if we wanted theirs. Of course we said yes and got right on. He loved it! Then once we got off the ride the first time it was time for the second fast pass we got to be used so we rode it again! How cool is that? After the second time we headed over to Muppet Vision and the backlot tour. We walked by TSM and I couldn’t believe the line and the fact that all of the fast passes were gone. We spend the rest of the day there and then headed back to resort.
After a long day at the parks we headed over to Victoria falls (the lounge at AKV) and got some african wines to taste and sat by the fire pit inside the lobby. It was so relaxing and I just loved sitting there with him. It was warm and the wine was fantastic . We went outside to the lookout point and checked out some of the animals before heading up to bed.

Next up day three and the engagement!:woohoo:

thanks a bunch kmores! I hope you don't mind if i completely take advantage and use you! :woohoo: I'm so glad i have the DIS. Like i said my mom isn't into the whole wedding thing, my sisters are young and don't get it and DF's parents eloped after a short engagement. So TIA to everyone. I don't care what the correct etiquette is for all these little events leading up to the wedding, we're going to do it what ever way we like it!

so i went back to work today atfer the thanksgiving/wisdom teeth removal break and was miserable. :sad2: not only did my mouth still hurt but there is no countdown to check anymore. Everday i'd get in and open the place and jump on the Dis to check my ticker and maybe leave a comment on the Nov 08 thread. Sadly thats no more. I guess once we got home the engagement excitement overcasted the fact that we didn't have anything to look forward to anymore.
I guess i'm going to have to get started on my next installment so that i can relive it some more. DF and I really need to pick a date for the wedding so i can start a new countdown. :lovestruc

Perhaps a combo Valentine's Day/engagement party?

Yes! I've already called my friend and oldest younger sister and they have been enlisted to atleast help with the preperations. I figure it can be an engagement/house warming party. I'm not expecting gifts or anything like that... just an excuse to party and show off my new bobble! :thumbsup2 February will give us enough time to finish home renovations and is within the three month engagement party period... did anyone know that there is even proper etiquette for an engagement party!?:confused3 I hope none of you mid or are offended that we are pretty much throwing etiquette out the window!

What a great start!!

Congratulations on your engagement!! :lovestruc I can't wait to hear how it finally happens.

As for wedding planning, there are so many great websites now a days to help with all the details. We used www.theknot.com. I live in MA and we were getting married in Ogunquit Maine where my family is from. This site helped my mom and I keep so many things organized like guest lists, get ideas etc.

Best wishes with it all

Day Three

So Tuesday Nov. 4th started off like the day before with me waking up very very very early. The only difference this time was that I grabbed my cell phone and went out to the balconey. My Best friend Kristen, who is also my co-worker, was covering my shift at work so I knew she’d be up at work by 6:30 so I called the office. She answered the phone with a tone in her voice like “Who the Heck is calling the MRI center at this hour!?” I said hello and gave her the full update from the airport fiasco and I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She was so excited for me. Then it registered to her that I was up at 6:30 on my vacation and she quickly scolded me for not sleeping in. I chatted with her about the day before and what our plans were for the rest of the day and then her first patient of the morning came in and said good-bye… not before she made me promise to call her as soon as I was asked.

I went back into the room and put on the weather channel because while I was on the phone I noticed it was pretty nippy outside. According to the obnoxiously perky weather girl it was going to be in the high 70’s low 80’s by noon. Perfect. So I turned it off and made my way to the shower. I put on a jean skirt, my new pink tank top, with my little black zip up sweatshirt… I figured hey my legs would be cold in the morning but it was supposed to be in the 80’s later. Adam got up shortly after and got dressed for the 80’s too. **Side not this all becomes relevent soon I promise** We didn’t have and ADR for breakfast so we headed down to the mara QS for something to eat. We sat at the table and he asked what we were doing for today. I told him we had an ADR at Le Cellier at 1:55 for lunch and then I had booked a carriage ride at FW. He seemed pretty excited because we had both wanted to head over to FW and WL to check it out. After breakfast we headed over to our favorite park EPCOT.

Finally after 3 MK and 2 AK buses an EPCOT bus came rolling in. It was a full one! We of course let the families with little ones on first and then made our way on…. We found two seats next to each other and squeezed in. When I sat down I felt something odd, at first I thought it was the backpack but when I looked down the backpack was on the floor under Adam’s legs… it was something in adam’s cargo shorts pocket… is was hard, square, and small… I was going to throw up he had the ring in his pocket. My initial reaction was “OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!” :scared1: My next reaction, as is my reaction everytime something freaks me out, was I need a bathroom!!! The bus ride to EPCOT was crazy long. When we finally arrived we went through bag check and went in. He asked me what I wanted to do first and my response was “Bathroom” not a sentence a statement. After my bathroom break we headed over to SE because it was being renovated last time we were there. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/80251000913_0_ALB-1.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/11251000913_0_ALB.jpgI loved the new upgrades! It was fun seeing how you can make your future. After that we headed over to Soarin to get a fast pass, then over to TT which had only a 15 min wait. TT is one of our favorites.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/40251000913_0_ALB-1.jpg
I stared at his pocket the entire time waiting in line. It was in there! Good Lord when was he going to ask me!!! ARG!!! After TT I again needed another bathroom. Everytime I looked at his pocket or thought about it I needed to find a bathroom. We headed over to the living seas and did Nemo and Friends and found a new favorite thing… the cuddle fish… Don’t know why but I liked it. (random i know) Anyway after watching the dolphins for a good half an hour we headed back to the land for soarin. Soarin is cool but honestly people don’t see what the big deal is?? After soarin I started thinking again and needed to hit another bathroom… by this third bathroom break Adam knew something was wrong… he thought it was something we ate and I let him think that! HA!

We started to get hungry but it was only 12:30. Another hour and twenty mins before our Le Cellier ADR. So we decided to walk to countries clockwise and end up in canada last and hopefully be there close enough to our ADR to be seated. We enjoyed the coutries and were happy to discover that the food and wine festival was still going on and stopped at a few countries to try some food. However we were extremely cold! :cold: Going from building to building we didn’t notice that the sun NEVER came out but once we started walking to countries we noticed… big time. I was so cold that my legs were turning purple. So although we were trying to use up time walking the countries we ended up power walking through them and ended up at le cellier at 1:00. I was so cold that we just decided to go and see if we could be seated early. The hostess said most likely no but we could still check in and sit inside to wait and they would try and get us in ASAP. I was happy with that it was warm in there! We got our buzzer, sat down… and vioala! Within 5 mins they were able to seat us! SWEET! We had never been to Le Cellier and I could now see why it was so hard to get in there! What a small place! We had a very nice waiter and he sat us and brought us out favorite canadian beer labatt blue and took our order. I got the filet mignon and Adam got the New york Strip (men!) I started to wonder in my head if we he was going to ask me while we were here. It seemed romantic enough… uh oh… had to go to the bathroom again! Well the food came quickly and it was deliciouse! I licked the plate clean! After desert, the check, and no ring I started to get anxiouse… what was the hold up??

After le cellier we decided it was just too cold and we went back to AKV to change into some warm clothes before heading over to FW for the carriage ride… Oh MY! The carriage ride!! He was totally going to monopolize on my idea of a carriage ride and ask me then!! I knew it! Ok so I’m sure by now you’re all on the edge of your seat so I’ll make this quick. We headed back to AKV I changed, he wouldn’t change infront of me, made me leave the room (I’m guessing the ring switched to his pants from his shorts), got the bus to MK, from there got on the ferry boat to FW, and fast foreward to docking at WL. We got off and I was loving FW. It reminded me of going camping in North Conway NH. We were pretty early for our carriage ride we walked around a bit and went over to check out the little ponies. So cute! After the ponies we headed over to the big barn and saw the draft horses getting all dolled up for the carriage ride. We walked back over to Crockett’s Tavern and went up to the service window and ordered some wine. I knew it was coming… and I needed another bathroom break. After the bathroom I went back over and sat in a rocking chair next to adam and waited for our carriage to arrive. It drove up and we hopped in. It was so much fun! My heart was pounding though… the anticipation was killing me!!! We went down this little road for about 15 mins and all of a sudden the driver started to turn around to head back… What?? No ring?? Huh! Jerk! I started thinking maybe it wasn’t going to happen until the fireworks at EPCOT and started to relax… when all of a sudden adam said “I think you should put your wine down.” My words… “I don’t wanna…” He laughed and took it from me anyway. He grabbed my right hand and started to say something when I said “Um, if you’re doing what I think you’re doing you’ve grabbed the wrong hand.” He laughed and switched hands and said “Katie, you told me last year when we were here that it was always your dream to get engaged in disney. You made my dream come true when you trusted me enough to buy the house with me. I would like to prove to you that you can always trust me and that my love isn’t going anywhere.” (cue the tears) He reached in his pocket and pulled out the box I’d been staring at all day and said “Will you marry me?” I cried and cried and cried… it was beautiful and exactly what I always imagined it would be. I didn’t move, just cried. After what seemed like an eternity he said “Um is that a yes and would you like to put it on?” I laughed and said yes and he put the ring on. As soon as the ring was on the driver said “Oh look!” and pointed to our right and there was a family of deer running through the woods right next to us. It was amazing! The driver also noticed I was crying and said “Ok either he just spilled your wine or he asked you to marry him, which was it?” I showed the ring and just laughed. Sadly i was so overwhelmed that i didn't get any pictures of the carriage or us on it... and i'm kicking myself in the you know what! That would've been an awesome engagement photo!:headache:

After the carriage ride we went over to the bathroom for my last bathroom break and then over to the WL to check it out. What an awesome resort! Loved it!

While we were there we went outside and started texting friends and family. I called Kristen and she was so excited for me… my entire work place knew in a matter of 30 seconds. We explored alittle more at WL before heading back to EPCOT. We rode TT one more time and then got an awesome spot for Illuminations. Those fireworks are my favorite. It was an awesome way to end the day… sitting on the ground in his arms watching fireworks. We waited for the crowds to die down and headed over to the bus back t AKV. We stopped at the bar and had a celebratory drink of this awesome african beer and then headed back to the room. It is probably the happiest day in my life so far and writing it now I’m crying and still not believing it really happened. So I’m going to go give him a huge hug, tell him I love him, and head to bed. :lovestruc :cloud9:

What a great start!!

Congratulations on your engagement!! :lovestruc I can't wait to hear how it finally happens.

As for wedding planning, there are so many great websites now a days to help with all the details. We used www.theknot.com. I live in MA and we were getting married in Ogunquit Maine where my family is from. This site helped my mom and I keep so many things organized like guest lists, get ideas etc.

Best wishes with it all

Welcome to you too! What part of MA are you in!? Adam and I grew up on the North Shore and just moved to Seabrook NH in Sept. I did get on theknot today and was looking at some idea's for engagement parties. I'm excited to throw one as well as plan the wedding!

I live on the South Shore but grew up in Wells Maine.

My husband was planning on proposing in Disney but got to nervous about bringing the ring through security at the airport for the fear of having security saying something. But instead we just celebrated!

I can't wait to hear more about your trip and good luck planning your wedding!

OMG how utterly romantic!!! I am bawling over here....and so excited! what awesome memories!! woo hoo!!

and don't worry about etiquette....surround yourself with people who love you for who you are and don't care about all that bs....they aren't your true friends if they can't support you no matter what! and really..there is no real "to do" except what YOU want to do. i have seen so many bridezillas - hwo much fun is that for you?

and remember...it's only 3-4 hours to "perform" in front of others on your day...the real stuff starts afterwards!!

My daughter just got married and if I do say so myself we did a awesome job with her wedding. As another poster mentioned, the Knot is a great information source, and I was telling my daughter, another Dis'er about your story and she said 'Of course, she can give her own engagement party!!! You just can't host your own shower LOL" so go for it! I loved planning her wedding so ask away, I'll chime in :)

Get your ideas form the knot, and then pop over to ebay, for one. My daughter fell in love with this certain dress in Brides, which she got from the library, so it was almost a year old. Well, of course, it had to be that dress!! We went to the store, found the dress, they told us it was discontinued, (last years model, how can you tell the difference, its a wedding dress!) but they might still be able to get it, and so I went home, jumped on the internet, and found the dress, brand new, from an online bridal store for $400.00 less! So, get your ideas, and then research, research, research. Oh, and if you go on the message boards, some of those brides are pretty *****y, so be prepared :)
Loved your engagement story, reminded me of my own daughter's. Congratulations!!!

We got to the big drop and started going up and up and up. We were just about to go down and I threw my hands up, not knowing that Adam wanted to do a cute “kiss” picture and I punched him square in the mouth. :headache: :
Katie you are so gosh darn cute!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: I can't believe that you hit him----:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: If he ever brings it up-- just tell him that it was in advance fo every day he's a PITA for the next 50 years--- you just got it in early.:rotfl2:
And the burn- I remember when it happened--- holy moley!

Day Three

Hahaha anytime anything big happens around me--- I have to throw up. Seriously.

I knew the story already but OMG--- so sweet. Adam gets the sweet Fiancee award!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Jo! I'm so glad you're back!:woohoo: Yes the splash mountaint punch in the face was priceless. I couldn't stop laughing... three hours later we were in line for Peter Pan and i just happened to think about it in my head and laughed out loud.

He defiantly gets the Best Fiance award! His BFF Steve is taking his wife on a little winter weekend away up in the mountains and they are going on a horse drawn sleigh ride and i said how cute that was but that my carriage ride was better! He started joking around with me and said he couldn't believe that i even remembered the carriage ride and i said "of course i remember it! Do you want to read my TR? I'm reliving it actually and telling all the girls on the DIS!" He got all embarressed but i assured him that you guys think he's the cats pajamas! :thumbsup2

I also will be picking a date soon. I would like to do a late september he would like to do mroe of a late october/novemeber wedding. I'm trying to talk him out of it because we went to a wedding on october 19th and a cold front came through and we were all frezzing! September is alittle on the warmer side. Get read for a rant about how I can't stand my family now..... BOTH of my sisters bailed on me today... should've known. :sad2: They're 19 and 16... you'd think they'd be able to keep a schedule of their activities by now, but apparently only mature people do that :rolleyes1 (starting to see what i mean about my family?) I was really hoping they'd come over to help plan the engagement party today too because i spoke with my mother yesterday and she didn't mention anything that had to do with the engagement OR even ask how i was recovering from my oral surgery... which i'm not recovering well apparently i have "dry socket":confused3 which is why i'm still experiencing pain and its not fun. Instead my mom told me about her boyfriends (yes she has two... IMMATURE!!!!) and how she had to go to court to get a restrainning order on her ex.... Like i need this drama!!! Sometimes when i talk to her i feel like i'm back in high school. Can i just say i'm glad i'm the "black sheep" in this family?

Anyway i went to CVS got Modern Bride Magazine. My plan for today is to do a nice big clean of the house and then start reading through the magazine and see if i can find any ideas for the engagement party. :lovestruc Oh and i think we've picked a date....

10/10/2010 Perfect huh? Adam said he likes that date because he'll never forget our anniversary!:lmao: he's always thinking! It hasn't been set in stone yet and the only thing that is making me alittle leary is that its columbus day weekend. How are crowds going to be on our disneymoon??? Other than that it would be good because 10/10 is a sunday and people won't have to worry about going to work the next day. I also found a place that we are going to go take a look at sometime in the next two weeks. They have an awesome deal where if you have 75 or more people its 23.95$ per person and it includes....

~4 course dinner
~personal host/hostess (to attend every need)
~Outdoor flower garden and luxuriouse bridal room and floral photographs, complete with complimentary champagne and cheese tray
~Exquisite tiered wedding cake with cake knife and server
~Engraved crystal toast glasses and napkins
~stunning floral centerpieces for each table
~Wide selection of linens
~champagne toast
~deluxe 10 passenger limo service for bride (gratuity included)
~A wide selection of invitations, reply cards, reception cards and place cards (I didn't even know you'd need this many "cards')
~Guest book and plume pen
~rental room fees and 18% house fee
~Bar service
~free coat check and parking

It sounded like a pretty good deal to me!! 75*23.95=1796.25 :yay: Not insanely expensive!!!:woohoo: My co-workers have been there for a wedding and they both said it was very very nice. I also spoke to the wedding co-ordinator there and she sounded very nice and told me to give her a call when we were ready to come in for an appointment. What do you girls think?

Awe rora i'm glad you joined! DF and I keep going back and forth on whether we should do the normal wedding or do something like a disney escape wedding then have a party with family after. Its hard with our families. Mine because they are who they are and his because there are so few of them. Hey lynn! Thanks for coming! You were one of the first wedding TR i'd read. I was a silent lurker. Your wedding to Tim was so pretty! We absolutly LOVED the AKV. We didn't want to leave! As you'll see once i get back into writing my TR the last day was very hard for me... i needed an "i'm leaving disney" support group! :rotfl: One of the best things was getting something to drink at Victoria falls and then sitting by the fire inside. There is a cool plaque on the floor by the fire that has an african fable on it. I wouldn't have even noticed it but i moved the chair i was in closer to the fire and looked down and there it was. DF and I sat there many nights.:goodvibes Make sure you get a SV! So cool waking up to animals everyday. :thumbsup2
As far as a Disney wedding goes i'm not sure. We keep going back and forth with whether we should do a small destination wedding of some kind like disney and then have a reception party for friends and family after, or if we should do the normal wedding and reception here with friends and family and then just do a disneymoon. We are going to go take a look at a few venues that can cater to a small wedding.... i'll keep you guys posted!

Ok girls, here is the next installment of my TR… FINALLY!
November 5th… the day after the engagement.
I woke up kind of late for me… 7:30… and jumped into the shower. Today was AK day! I was so psyched about everything, pretty much life in general made me happy that day. I was washing my hair in the shower and got some shampoo in my eyes. I wiped the soap out and looked down at my left had and caught my first glimpse of my ring since the day before. I just sobbed.:lovestruc (I’m a sap and a half) I got out and got dressed. Adam woke up and got ready and asked where we were going today. I told him we were off to the AK. The year before we had breakfast at the AK at pizzafari. The place was practically empty and I LOVED the breakfast pizza. So we decided to go to there again for breakfast. We left at 8 for the bus. We got there and realized I was wrong about what time it opened and that we were there about 45 mins early. Oops. So we poked around the rain forest café gift shop and waited for the gates to open. While in the gift shop I noticed that there was a turnstile at the back where there was an attendant standing. Once we heard the rope drop show starting I mentioned to adam that I thought we might be able to beat the line and get in through the gift shop. So we tried it and voila! We were in like VIPs! :thumbsup2 We beat everyone else coming in through the main gate! We stood on the bridge leading into the oasis and watched the rest of rope drop. (which was a pleasant surprise) We went right into pizzafari and got breakfast. Again no one was in there and we could relax and plan our plan of attack without the craziness outside.
After breakfast we decided to head over to EE and get a FP. We hit the FP kiosk and then notice that our FP time is for twenty mins from now. So we walked over to the ride enterence and see only a 10 min wait!!!:woohoo: Holy Moley! We got in the stand-by line and got right on, got off and got right back on with our FP. It was awesome! We love that ride!
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/22251000913_0_ALB-1.jpg
After two rides on EE we headed over to the KS. The line for that was 30 mins so we got a FP and decided to walk through the jungle trekk. We had never done this before and were pleasantly surprised at how cool it was. Check out these tiger pictures!!!
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/13251000913_0_ALB.jpg

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/82251000913_0_ALB.jpg
We spent so much time in there we almost missed out on our FP for KS. We got on our truck for the safari. It was awesome I was so excited that I forgot to get out the camera and take pictures! Anyway the coolest thing about the safari was when the guide told us that she couldn’t find the rhino. Apparently he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. So we continued on and after taking a corner the guide says “oh… ok.. um please don’t make any loud noises, we’ve found the rhino.” I looked to my right and saw the very large butt of the rhino so close I could’ve touched it! We drove past without any problems and the guide said “yea um he’s been chasing the trucks the past few days so sorry about that folks he just makes me nervouse! “ It was pretty cool! After the safari we headed over to dinosaur! Love that ride too, its so crazy and you always feel like somone beat you up when you leave the ride, but its totally worth it! We got a FP and then decided we wanted a snack. We headed over to Dinoland USA and saw a little place to get snacks and decided to get a cookie ice cream sandwich. OMG we could’ve shared one! It was huge! And we got one each! DELICIOUSE! Insanely bad for you but sooooo good! We headed back to dinosaur! And screamed out heads off at the scarey carnitor! So much fun! After Dinosaur we went over to “its tough to be a bug”. The show was going well until the spiders came down from the ceiling and scared the poor little girl next to us. She started crying and had to leave… I felt so bad. Then the bees came out and I didn’t get stung but adam sure did… he jumped a mile! So I asked him if he wanted to me to take him out too… he laughed and said “no I think I’ll be alright!” we didn’t stop laughing. After “its tough to be a bug” we decided it was time to go… but not before one more ride on EE. Yup three times! After EE we headed back to the bus. It was about 2pm so we decided to head over to the boardwalk.

I’m going to stop here for now. Next up is the crazy waiter at Big River, Boardwalk/beach club/yachet club exploration and HS.

That's funny about the little girl because both my kids freaked out on Its tough to be a bug too. Luckily they were sitting on our laps when the bee stung everyone or that would have put them over the edge:rotfl:

The ice is definatly the worst part. I must say that i am impressed by my towns plowing. we got more than where my mother lives and they STILL look like a war zone. :sad2:

Any way wedding planning is kind of moving along. I'm still calling a few places and getting some prices but every now and then i get the urge to just say forget it, lets just go somewhere and elope with only the people we care about. Then i stop and think how some of those people include future DMIL, who doesn't fly, and future DGFIL, who is in his 80's and is very OCD about when he is home for his nap. Those two thoughts and the fact that my sisters will still be in school and stuff makes me realize that in theory yea it sounds like a good idea but the reality is it wouldn't work. Which is sad because i'd love to have a DFTW. (i keep looking at the escape package.) The other thing is that DF's boss had pulled him and a few other employees aside and explained that with the economy there may be the need for some lay offs so to expect that at least through the winter. So DF doesn't want to talk about planning a wedding at the moment. He did say after Christmas we could start checking out some of the halls that were in our budget. :cloud9:
And please girls if anyone has any input on the wedding planning feel free to PM me or post on here. I asked the girls on the budget boards if they had any ideas for weddings on a budget and they had some awesome ideas that i'm going to use. And since no one has been married in my family since the early 80's (god those dresses were hideouse!!!:rotfl: ) any new ideas is much appreciated!:grouphug:

He loves to play with socks (if you can't tell thats what is in his mouth)
He is my buddy and my favorite thing in the whole world. He loves other dogs and we had talked about getting him a brother once we were settled in the new house.

Well.... Meet Toby

you will know it when you try it on. I had trouble finding a dress that I liked and ended up at the Filene's Basements for their big bridal event. I was about to walk out where I tried 1 last one on, I thought I had tried everything on and there it was. So don't be surprised if you walk out buying one.

Way back when in 1996 I got my dress & all the bridemaid's dresses at David Bridals. The wedding dress I tried on 1st ended up being the one I bought.
Disney now has their own line of wedding dresses too at an economical price of about $1000:scared1:

I feel like i never have time to myself!:laundy:

but quick update on wedding planning,

we've been activly looking at reception halls and so far it is between two places...

the granite rose in Hampstead NH

and

the tewksbury country club in tewksbury MA

If you guys have time check them out and tell me what you think! :thumbsup2

we've also decided on a tentative date of 10/16/2010.

I am also taking a quick poll on our honeymoon..

we are definatly going to disney for our honeymoon and my aunt who is DVC is giving our room to us as our wedding gift... shes the best!

we can't decide between the BWV, BCV, or VWL. I'm leaning toward the BWV because there are things that i've always wanted to do there like the dueling pianos at jellyrolls and its in walking distance to epcot which is out favorite park but he's leaning towards the VWL because thats where we did our carriage ride and got engaged. Let me know what you guys think!

Miss you all! hope everyone is doing well and staying warm!:grouphug:

Sounds like it's all coming together nicely. What a great aunt for the wedding present. As for where to stay I'd go with VWL. We have stayed at BC. BW is in the same area. Nice places but you can hear and feel the booms from Illumanations every night. I mean they are loud. WL is a great place. You can always hop on a bus and head to the boardwalk to do everything you want.

Quick wedding update....

We have a Date and a Venue!!! :woohoo:
We will be getting married 10/16/2010 at the granite rose in hampstead NH.
www.graniterose.com check it out and let me know what you think! We got a great deal which includes and wedding cake and centerpieces. Adam and I are so excited! :cloud9:

I also got my wedding dress!! :lovestruc You ladies will love this... I got a 1300$ couture wedding gown for 300$ brand new with the tags still on it!! :woohoo: I am now proclaiming myself the wedding-on-a-budget queen!! I found the dress on ebay by accident and i got it in the mail last thursday! Because it is a couture gown the designer (who is casablanca) doesn't advertise their "diamond collection". Apparently they only make so many of each dress and sell them to certain bridal boutiques. What i could find however was another bride in the same dress. http://www.projectwedding.com/biography/list/JustAnothrBridezilla
It looks alittle different on me because i'm taller but what do you girls think? It need to be taken in a bit but for 300$ i don't mind paying for alterations!

well i'm off to work! I'll check back later today! Miss you all!

:sad2: So to be honest... I sadly don't remember as many details as i should from Nov. 5th....
But i can give you girls the basic run down and then move onto Nov. 6th which had some pretty cool events that took place that I remember very well.

After AK we went to BW to have an early dinner at BRBW&B. We had a crazy waiter that reminded me of keanue reeves in bill and teds excellent adventure on speed. We ordered some forgetable entrees but had some memorable drinks! We ordered the beer sampler and tried them all... They were deliciouse! :thumbsup2 Wouldn't recommend the food but the drinks...absolutly!
We took a walk around the BW/YC/BC area and looked at both wedding gazebos, one at BW and one at YC. I tried to talk adam into a wedding in disney... failed miserably... but did talk him into a disneymoon :woohoo: SCORE!
We took a ferry boat over to HS where I, as always, Made a complete geek out of myself and showed my true star wars nerdiness. After riding ST we caught the end of the JEDI training show and i stayed to watch and took these amazing pictures...
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/53251000913_0_ALB.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/73251000913_0_ALB.jpg
I begged adam to let me stay and take a picture with a storm trooper... but he said thats where he drew the nerd-line. so we headed over to the back-lot tour. I know we did almost every ride that night...excpet TSM. I do, however, have this awesome memory of going on TT and being in a car with this large family. It looked like 4 young kids (all under 12 i'd guess) two set of adults... the men were definatly brothers... and one set of grandparents. The whole time in line the Grandparents were asking how bad this was... because Grandpa had a bad back, and grandma was reallt scared and these kids kept telling them that it wasn't even scarey! Well they were sitting behind us and let me tell you... this grandma was something else!! First she screamed her heart out but after the second drop she was having just as much fun as the grandkids... it was awesome... adam and I laughed so hard! After the ride we told the grandma she was the coolest grandmas we've seen the whole trip!:thumbsup2
So that was pretty much the extent of my memories from Nov. 5th. i'm going to start writing my next installment tonight... it maybe up today or tomorrow night. I want to take my time with it only because i do have such good memories. :cloud9: (and lots of pictures!)
Talk soon!

Thanks for popping in JO!

I'm glad you like my dress! I'm so in love with it... i walk by the closet that its in and if adams not around i poke my head in and look. :cloud9: I like that is different and not the same old wedding dress. I cant believe that i got it on EBAY for that price! I look around for it online and the amount of money people were charging was INSANE!!!:scared: So needless to say i'm psyched about it!

The Granite rose is so pretty! I honestly thought that paying for the wedding ourselves would limit it us BIG TIME! This place was great... the women who showed us around actually worked for disney and spent an hour talking to us about things we should do on our disneymoon! She was very accomodating and was one of the only people we met who was willing to work with our small budget and guest list. I'm getting my wedding cake and centerpieces included in the package!:woohoo: Its very woodsey too which will be nice in October... nice foliage!

The house is coming along... we've redone the family room downstairs, the master bedroom, and painted the upstairs formal living room. we also put in a new chandelier in the foyer. o0o0o0o I have a foyer! :rotfl2: Adam is now working on the upstairs bathroom... we completely gutted it (thank goodness!) and so far we bought a nice new kohler tub and installed it, bought tile backboard and put it around the walls of the tub so we can tile that area and this weekend we'll put that tile backboard down on the floor so we can tile that. I stand there like this  while i watch adam do most of the work... thank goodness he's handy! Once its all done it should be really pretty... Adam got his inspiration from the AKV bathroom actually.

As for my mom, we haven't spoken much since christmas... lots of issues since then that have caused a severe rift in the family. :sad2: Shes been like this my whole life unfortunatly and its very hard to deal with someone who has the types of issues she has. Thankfully i have the support of Adam, and my sisters who are also going through the same thing. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger though!

Sadly Adam and I won't be back to the World this year either... saving up for the wedding and home renovations are holding us back from any vacations this year... but thats ok. It'll jsut make me apprecaite my Disneymoon even more!

Well i better get back to work! I'm so glad you're back JO!

Finally!! Alright last full day of our amazing trip!

November 6th 2008

Again I don’t remember much of that morning. What I do remember is waking up thinking that it was our last full day and fighting back tears! :sad1: I mean who’d want to leave? We had just got engaged, were staying in this amazing hotel (shameless plug for AKV if you never tried it there… please do!!!) had great weather, and crowds were amazingly light! I remember we went down to the pool area to have breakfast at the MARA. We went early that morning to HS to get a FP for TSM. We took it pretty slow that day, did a few rides and walked around enjoying ourselves… we watched the street performers and had a good laugh. We finally could go back to TSM and even the FP line was long… good grief! I have to say that it was pretty cool! I beat Dfi!!!! YESSS!!!!:thumbsup2

After TSM we left HS and I waved bye to the sorcerer’s hat because I knew we wouldn’t be coming back again this trip. :sad2: So sad! We took the boat over to EPCOT where we had an ADR at CR. If I haven’t mentioned this before I was pretty psyched for this… I had a personalized menu AND a diver set up for Dfi. :cloud9: We got to the check in desk alittle early but figured that maybe they’d be able to get us in. after we checked in Dfi had to use the little boys room and I seized the opportunity and went back over to the hostess. I asked her is everything was all set and she winked and showed me the menu with our pictures on it! I was so happy! She said she was just waiting for a table next to the tank to open up and she’d seat us. A whole 5 mins later our buzzer went off.

We had never been to CR and once we got into the dinning room my jaw hit the floor… it was amazing! I had never seen anything like it. We were seated right up to the fish tank! Our host handed Dfi his menu and said “ I think you’ll find a magical surprise in there!” Dfi opened it and couldn’t believe it. He had no idea! http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/93251000913_0_ALB.jpg

Our waiter came and I ordered a Bahama Mama and Dfi ordered a beer. We were sitting there waiting for our food when the diver came over. He had the sign I had made for Dfi!!! While he held up the sign another diver came by and sprinkled sea shells from above to look like confetti. Everyone was “aweing” and the diver wrote on his little etch-a-sketch to kiss… so we kissed and everyone in the whole resturante started clapping for us! :lovestruc (ok so I’m crying all over again thinking about it) I couldn’t contain myself. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/24251000913_0_ALB.jpg
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/44251000913_0_ALB.jpg

I felt that was even better than the engagement! He was beat red of course and kept thanking me. A little boy came over to our table and said “congratulations!” then ran away! Hahaha… it was awesome. I couldn’t control myself the whole dinner. (which by the way try the grilled mahi mahi, it was amazing… I licked the plate clean!)

After dinner we hung out around EPCOT for a while before heading back to the AKV to pack up some of our stuff. After packing we headed down to the bar got a few drinks and did some animal watching and sat by the fire. I couldn’t have been happier, and to this day I doubt anything will make me happier than our wedding.

Alright well I need to go get control of myself and wash my face before he thinks I’m crazy! Oh and I recently found out that they stopped the divers at CR… how come?? I think it is one of the coolest things Disney does! Anyone know why they did that??:confused3

I'm so bummed i won't be able to go again this year. I just can't get enough Disney! People at work think i'm nuts and ask why i don't go anywhere else for my vacations. Which i do every now and then, i've done Virginia beach, US and IOA, i've been to maryland and the NH mountains. I'm just not the type to go to an island and just lay around i guess. I'd get really bored! Not that i need to explain myself to anyone! I LOVE Disney and i think its the best vacation spot so there!:snooty:

ITA, I live in "the Ocean State" and I really dont like the beach.:confused3 I get bored after a while. So I tell everyone that we vacation at two places Maine & Disney. Obviously Maine more often since it only costs us the price of gas and groceries.

Luckily I have friends that love Disney as much as us. My friend since 7th grade is a bigger Disney nut than me. :rotfl:

My only other disney freak is my aunt! My sisters like it too but they aren't crazy over it like me. I'm slowly but surely getting DFI crazy about it. ;)

So at last... my final words...

Nov. 7th

I woke up feeling so sad... i even think i shed a tear or two before getting our of bed. :sad1: I so didn't want to leave... we had such an amazing vacation. We got up and decided to head down the to mara and get some breakfast. We were sitting at our table and saw a family come in with two little girls so excited to be in disney with their luggage in tow. I knew they must have just checked in and i was so jelouse!

We hung around the AKV's for a while and did some shopping. I bought a really cute tote bag that had a black mickey head in leopard print fur on it... so me! We walked around the resort trying to take everything in one more time before we headed to the ME bus. We gathered all our belongings and checked-out. There really wasn't much left to do but wait for the sad trip home.

This is a terrible picture of us sitting in the lobby waiting for the ME... can you tell i was crying???:guilty:

While sitting in the lobby we got a phone call from DFI's brother who was house sitting/dog sitting. Apparently He was driving back to our house the night before and for whatever reason the hood of his car flew off and smashed his windshield... didn't i say nothing ever goes right?? So with only 2 hours until we were supposed to head for the airport we had no ride home. :headache: (we also felt pretty terrible about DBIL 's car getting messed up because he was driving to our house) After numerouse phone calls we finally had a ride home from my aunt and mother. (not who i would've picked but hey i'll take it.)

We sat outside on a bench and waited for the ME to pick us up. I noticed next to us another couple with disney wedding pins on... they were going home from their disneymoon.. I suddenly felt better and turned to DFI and asked if we could definatly come back for a disneymoon... he laughed and said "we aren't even home yet and you're talking about coming back?" I said of course i was and that i needed an answer.. He said "of course we can disneymoon!" :lovestruc I love that man of mine!!!

I'm going to end here because after the ride home we had more mishaps which include... our flights being delayed an hour and a half....my dog not being where he should've been... driving 40 mins at mid-night to go get him.... being pulled over for speeding on the way back from getting duke... noticing that the new mickey tote bag i bought had the security ink tag left on it... and noticing that i left the camera charger in the hotel room. Phew...Told you nothing ever goes right... but WHO CARES??? :rotfl2:

Well- I am so glad that you were able to get the diver to do the sign-- what a neat thing for an engagement album!:rolleyes1 That's so sad that they aren't doing it anymore. I had heard that too.

I wonder why? It was one of those special things that was all Disney, ya know?
:wizard:

Can't wait for the photos in May.:lovestruc
Hope you're doing okay---

Wish you luck on all your wedding preparations.

I remember my "disneymoon" with fond memories as I'm sure you and Adam will as well.
