December Scrapping Challenge- Princess Nancy Wins!!! Get in those final numbers

December is Here!!! Time to finish up our scrapping year on a great note! Get those pages filled up and journaled. Everyone is welcome. We have an annual thread that is updated from here at the end of each month. These are the same categoreis as in our annual one. Have fun and get that scrapping done! Finish up the albums before the end of the year and get some Christmas presents done. We count pages of all sizes (you can choose to half the count if you don't think they small ones are worth as much. You can scrap digitally, with paper, or hybrid scrapping. It all counts!!!

You can do it!!! I did 200 last month and had company for 12 days. Just think it is less than 7 each day. 4 double page layouts- take them out in the morning and start setting them up- think about them as you go about your day. Attach them in the evening and before you know it you will be done.

Rebecca and I are both paper scrappers, Rebecca mostly works with her swap items so her pages go really fast. I sat with her at SDV and she flew through 120+ pages. Having the swap items kitted with the pics really makes it go faster.

I am not fast, at all. I am currently working with my 8x8 completed pages so the pages are almost done, I just need add pics and journalling and I'm not big on journalling so it's not on every page.

As Buffy said kitting makes a big difference. I also happen to be working on various size Christmas books. For those I cut things in little batches from time to time and then sit down and make the multiple copies of the books for the children on my Christmas list.

I also have the freedom to spend the time I want to scrapping. I am not working and I don't have children. Yes I do have a number of things I am doing for the church but I can take time off for myself when I want. I probably have a lot more hours to swap and just my dog to interupt so that makes a difference too.

26 of the pages I made last month were 6by6 pages that were a Christmas ABC album for a niece. Each page had paper piecings on it along with a phrase and letters. I also did 2 8by8 books last month with paper dolls on each page.

I did an album for my uncle who visited for Thanksgiving that was an album in a box kit from SEI. They have the layouts ready and stacked and all the papers cut so you just have to add the right size photos and journaling. Since he doesn't read much I only used 1-3 words of journaling per page.

I also kit my pages when I am not feeling like actually glueing and pasting. I choose out pictures, background paper, matting paper, and embellishments and stack page kits like this in a bag. If I want to type jornaling or titles then I make a list of what I want to do and when I am waiting for an online response or figuring out a nice way to put something in the church newsletter I will type some of it up. Then as I print it, I add it to the kits. I can do 10-20 pages in an hour when all I have to do is mat photos and glue everything to the page. Having lots of swap items makes a big difference. I probably have used well over 500 items this year alone. Since I am at 900 pages for the year and I use 1-5 items on most pages I probably am well over 1000 in swap items used.

I have no hang-ups on scrapping in any order. When I am in the mood to scrap, I tend to grab the bag of pages I feel like and do them. I also will do quick pages to hang on the church bulletin board every time we have a church event.

About 20 of my pages for last month were for the CPS due in January- I have another 9 to do this month to finish that swap. I actually swap on 2 boards other than this so sometimes I am completing page swap for those boards as well. The swaps tend to go quickly because it is a design that gets repeated over and over- yes I still have to cut it (generally anything other than a straight mat is cut by one of my machine and I can have both running at the same time when needed). 42 pages from last month were completed page swaps from other groups.

Things were going along swimmingly, and then all of a sudden, I started sneezing up a storm. The last paper I used was some sort of fibrous cardstock, I wonder if I am allergic to it or something. Either that or the white stuff that started falling when I went out to get the mail about the same time. Holy cow! For the last 30 minutes I've been a mess!

Ugh! You know what helped us... First I tried snack and than homework after dinner.... to give them a little play time.. they didn't want to work that way... so now as soon as they get home they MUST get their homework done before they can play or have a snack... it gives mine a real incentive to finish up!!(especially when we have games at night).... then if there is a test we review at bed time for it....

I've tried it both ways. They just have no outlet all day. Recess is a joke, they can't run, they can't scream, there are days they just sit on the picnic benches. Then it's right to homework til dinner, eat, then more homework til bed. And we don't even do sports! I don't know how you do it!!!

When we move I am seriously considering interviewing schools about the homework policies. I've already told this school no more long term projects. If they want them done it has to be done at school.

The guideline is 10 minutes per grade they are in. So 6th graders should have 60 minutes, etc. And its only Monday - Thursday. And reading time counts toward the total. My daughters old school is ranked very high in testing & their whole curriculum is geared toward them taking their state test. When she was in 4th grade, she would easily have 2 hrs a night & projects on weekends. The kids were all stressed out. We moved to a different state & noticed a change right away. Currently, she's in all honors classes, taking double science classes, 2nd yr language, & in high school (9th grade). And she has less homework then she did in grade school. CRAZY. Also, she does her homework during free time at school to get it out of the way & she works on projects over the weekends & doesn't wait to the last minute. But, I compltely agree that family time is way more important than homework. And I'm an education major. I also believe taking kids out of school to go on vacation is a positive & that they will learn things there they can't in the classroom.:confused3

What company offers the best 12x12 color copies. I want to do one family paper (non digital) 12x12 scrapbook & make copies for the kids. Or is there a way to send my pages in & have books made? I don't have a 12x12 scanner. Anywhere you've found that has 12x12 scanners that you can put onto a disc? Are there any local places that offer photo books that you've been really pleased w/ (walgreens?)? I know a lot of questions. I've just come to the realization that I am very, very far behind in my scrapping. And there is no way that I will ever get caught up if I have to make albulms for all 3 children & 1 for us. Or maybe you all could share who you handle this situation. Thanks ahead of time.

Well, apparently I had a blonde moment earlier this month and started marking my tallies for this month on LAST December's tally sheet (they hang on the wall next to each other). So my count probably isn't exact, since I had to rely on my memory to figure out what I had already done this month. I am going to say that I am up to 29. And I am finished with DH cousin #1's books. :woohoo: :banana: :woohoo: She is the one that I was the main reception/backup ceremony photographer. These books are their wedding present. It started out being one book, but 38 pages/72 layouts later, it wouldn't fit in one book.

Still have to finish cousin #2's book, but that is an 8x8 gift album, and goes much faster. And 4 mini-mini albums, for Grammy and Auntie (cousin's Mom), and about 3 days to work on them.

My only motivation is panic. I have a lot to get done, and we get on the airplane on Tuesday. Which leaves 4 days...Sunday is my birthday, and I'm not spending it working on stuff for others. So I have 3 days. Not all of what I have to do is scrapping related, so I want to get the scrapping stuff done tomorrow.

I haven't forgotten about you all. As many of you, I've been wayyy busy + getting ready for baby. I'll give awards out again after Christmas. GOD willing that baby waits to be delivered until closer to due date, January 12th. I figure if I keep saying it, he'll wait & prove me a liar. LOL He's head down & I've gotten bigger. So, its making sitting & scrapping very difficult for me. So, I think I'm done for the month. But, who knows, the nesting phase might kick in & I'll be a scrapping crazy woman. GOD's Blessings to you all as you celebrate the holidays w/ family & friends. If you pray, please say a special one for all of our soldiers & families who can't be together this time of year. That was our family last year & it is a very, very difficult time. So, I'm chersishing every minute of this one. Just knowing I can hug my hubby whenever I want has been wonderful. I finished the book I wanted to make for MIL and gave it to her yesterday.
She couldnt look at it as she would start crying! Everyone else loved it.
Its the first time Ive done something like that.
So for the month, which my goal is 10 pages, I figure this would count as 4 pages. Thats what I would count it as.
The other 6 will be easy to get done brfore months end.

I gave the scrapbooks to everyone last night at Grammy's house. There was much ooooing and ahhhhing, and some crying. Cousin #1 (who I took the pictures for) was so emotional from just the title page, I didn't know how she was going to make it through both books. The first 10 pages were a big exclamation on every page. They had gotten photos from a bunch of people, but I was the only one who got photos of several people, so they were very happy about that.

Only thing I should have done, was take pictures of the completed books for myself, so I could remember what I had done in the future.

I just got CM's Story Book Creator+ for Christmas and hav been playing around with it. I got my first digital page done.
