To all.
I am trying to put together a little computer lab for a Daycare that my daughter attends.
My company donated 2 pc's and now I am looking for kids software (ages 3 on up).
Can anyone direct me to some free or inexpensive software for kids learning and entrainment?
thanks

Here are the ones I have used in JK/Sk classes:
Reader Rabbit
Sammy's Science House
Millie's Math House
Bailey's Book House
Trudy's Time and Place house
These are educational and the kids really like them. These have been around for a few years but they are updated regularly. I liked these so much we have them at home for my daughter.
Hope that gives you some ideas.

I might also suggest asking parents for software. Lots of times you can get lots of good software that they aren't using anymore.
Also, if you have internet I can give you a long list of great kid friendly websites!

that would depend on how much you want them to learn... i am guessing excel spread sheets and quick books accounting software would be more than a 3 year old level?

Starfall.com is a free website very useful! And another one is Waterford.com, but I believe you have to pay to use it. Good Luck :goodvibes

Here are some good interactive websites:
http://school.discoveryeducation.com/
http://marcopolo-education.org/student_games.aspx
http://www.crayola.com/gamesfun/index.cfm?n_id=2
Finally that ed technology course I took came in useful!
I am also a big fan of Starfall.com but it is more geared towards K-2, pre-school kids may not get it. Reader Rabbit is great and so is Jumpstart Pre-school. They have a whole series of discs. I would check ebay I bet there are parents on there selling their kids old computer games. Sometimes educational warehouse has computer games on sale too.

I got a really cute learning cd from Publix with their Publix Preschool Pals for free. Of course with what they charge for the Boars Head ham they can afford to pass out some free software. :)
