OK, I was putting my Christmas lights up outside around the house, and the ladder slid out from under me. I was about 15 feet up, slid down the side of the house, and wacked my chin on our front stoop. Wow, I was scared, and I put a big dent in our extension ladder. Boy, that was stoooooooopid. DW said she would hold the ladder from now on.

Wow. You are lucky. It seems to be the season for ladder injuries. I was talking with someone last week who broke his wrist having a ladder slip out from under him in his garage.

My brother who has been in the service for 20 years, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, etc had his only major injury falling off a ladder and breaking his wrist. I only put lights up where a 8 foot step ladder will do....for now :)

I always worry about my DH when it's time to do the lights. He actually walks the roof to do it.

Falling from a ladder can be so dangerous. I'm glad you are okay. 5 years ago or so, not too far from here, a man fell only 6 feet off a ladder while putting up Christmas lights and ended up a quadripeligic. The newspaper recently did an update on him. It's amazing how quickly your whole life can change.
