Does anyone know how much the boat rentals at Fort Wilderness are? Pontoon or fishing boats? Does anyone know of any affordable fishing exursions outside of Disney in the Orlando area? The fishing exursions inside of Disney are $250, for 2 hours which seems really high to me.

Here is the best I can do:

This is a couple of years old, but I doubt the prices have changed much. I'm sure Frank and others will be along shortly with more info about fishing in and around Disney. Be aware though that you can share the rental with other fishers, making it a bit more affordable. I'm sure you can find someone to take you up on a share.

ok, I thought it was $250 per person, but it's $250 for up to 4 guests is that right?

The pontoons were $35.00 per 1/2 hour Jan 08. You can not fish from the rentals, boat fishing is from the paid excursions only. The 1:30 pm trip for 5 is a bit cheaper at $225.00 and they will take 1 person for $175.00. Yes that is a hefty price, you probably could go outside of WDW all day for that price.

You can however fish from the banks and canals at all the WDW resorts, not from the docks tho. At times this can produce some pretty nice catches.

Frank may have some phone #'s of other Orlando area guides.

It is my experience that there is no such thing as affordable fishing excursions,,,its a matter of how badly you want to fish and then finding who is the best price.

Try this for the Orlando area;
Bill Longs Fishing Guide 407-290-1593,,he specializes in big largemouth bass.
(I haven't used this guide, but for some reason I have his number.)

Lake Okeechobee has good bass fishing. If you might want to try Okeechobee call the Okeechobee Guide Association for guides at,,

Last time we rented a pontoon boat they offered a discount to AAA members. You have to ask about it..it's not written on the sign. It's not much..maybe 10 percent..but every little bit helps. ;)
