I had a call this morning to say my 89 y/o Grandad had died, exactly 15 years ago to the day he collapsed with 3 blood clots on the brain, after a risky surgery he then had to live in a care home, where he's been pretty healthy, even if he did always think I was my Mum :rotfl2: It's a funny feeling as although it's sad he would of hated the way he's been living for the past 15 years!

Anyway a few hours later I had another call from my Dad to say my new nephew Oscar had just been born, they always say one goes out as another comes in don't they, well they were right in my family today!

Sorry to hear about your Grandad, Jo but I admire your way of thinking. :flower3: I always feel that my Mum is somehow part of my DS as he was born less than two months after she died... :goodvibes

Congrats on the birth of your nephew - I love the name Oscar...

My Dad died rather suddenly on my eldest DD's first birthday and I felt exactly like you feel. Even though it was a year after she had been born, it gave me great comfort that I had her.

My Grandad didn't make a great age like yours, but out of everybody I've lost, I still miss him the most, he was my hero

Take care:grouphug:

Thanks Michelle, I know this sounds bad but my girls (who normally get very upset about death) haven't really been sad about their Great Grandad dying because of the distraction of their new cousin. And I'm really pleased with that. He was 89 and for the last 15 years had been in a home after suffering from 3 blood clots on the brain so he really died about 15 years ago! As my cousin put it Nanny (who died a few years ago and was totally devoted to her husband) will now be at peace because he is with her :goodvibes

Jo,i completley understand where you are coming from  .Oscar is obviously a blessing.I believe in reincarnation(i know alot don't-but it's my choice :goodvibes ).
As you say your Grandad 'died' about 15yrs ago because of this,i do understand that-you thought that just his body remained? :confused3 ,not really 'him' .
As alot of people on here can guess+some 'know' my Grandparents who raised me mean the utter world to me-especially my Grandad and i am truly dreading the day that you have unfortunatley had to go thru  .I just hope what i preach to others i can practise myself :goodvibes .

When my half-Sister died 6 months ago,i believe she is with our Dad+he is looking after her, just like your Nan+Grandad are now together.x.
