So I've been getting these cards from DisneyLAND but never gotten anything from WDW. Until today!
It looks like just a mass mail promotion because I don't see anything that says PIN# or code#. Either way I'm so tempted to book something. We said we were not going in 2009 at all but between this and the 4/3 thing I'm really tempted.
The card says:
40% off a Disney stay at selected value resorts in a standard room.
Nine magical times to celebrate Jan. 4-15, Jan. 25-Feb.12, Mar. 1-14, May31- June 6, Aug.23-Oct.6, Oct.25-31,Nov.15-21, Nov.29-Dec.5, Dec.13-24
Ask about packages and other room types including Mod, Deluxe and Deluxe Villas.

I had a 40% pin which I used against a deluxe hotel. When the 4/3 promotion came out, it actually worked better as we qualified for the $200 gift card. Either way, I think it's an amazing deal! :thumbsup2

I think so :rotfl2:
In small print it says you need the number, so it is a pin
I guess I will need to take another end of summer resort only trip,:woohoo: I will call later, I am hoping for Old Key West or ,maybe Wilderness Lodge.
It is my lucky day, I was able to get a Standard room CAA rate at the Wilderness Lodge for next week and now this, I should have bought a Lotto 649.:rotfl:

Yes, I see that now.
I'm supposed to be staying home and having new windows put in my house in 2009. Plus, my DH works in the auto industry which is not the greatest place to be these days.
What to do....what to do:scratchin

I got it yesterday too.
The one time Disney actually offer free dining and tickets with a Travel Agent reduced hotel booking...I get it. Ugh..
But I tell you--Disney is feeling the pinch!
I am off on Dec 14--but I just might have to go again!

Sounds like me an my bad luck with discounts for DCL, if spring break 2009 was the same week as last year, I could take advantage of the buy one get one for $99 or the new CAN special which would save me about $2000 but my husband does not want me to take the girls out of school so I am stuck with spring break, oh well I paid it off when the dollar was at par.

I know it!
I have changed my dates this year 3x already...then I saw a TA Disney cruise promo that 'dances around' my WDW dates BUT I would have to change flts around a bit and that adds fees there ...ugh ....I just never seem to call it right!:confused3

I'm still trying to figure out how Disney decides to do these things. We had one show up at our house for someone else.
We took a friend with us in August while we stayed at our DVC resort on points and her name was on the reservation, but of course, it was our address that they had. And we just got a 40% off pin in the mail yesterday for her. And yet, I know lots of people who have been to Disney many times as a cash paying customer (including us before we bought DVC) and not a sniff of a pin.

My Dh just got one sent to my parent's house even though the vacation is always booked in mine and my parents names. So who knows how Disney decides.
The dates don't work for me and either does the 4/3 promotion. I only have a weekend booked and can't extend it.

Its okay....the only pins that have come to my house are in the name of my 12 year old DD. How did she get on the list:confused3 :confused3 . I have always been the lead on the ressies....pay for the vacation and do all of the leg work and they send the perks to a minor:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My last trip i booked in my name, with my kids, and my brother who lives elsewhere. Guess who got the code card in their name? My brother, at my address. And i can't use it because it is not transferable, even though the entire last reservation was in my name.... Go figure. I guess i won't be going back in 2009:guilty:

This is exactly what we just got in the mail! The young girl we took with us is the one who's name is on the card, and so it's useless to us. We've waited many years for a pin# (we are DVC), and it finally comes in someone's name that can't be used! ARGH!

We got one??? We have never received a 40% off pin code before. Especially in the mail. I was so surprised. I think Disney is doing everything they can to increase business.
I believe it's the same one that everyone is getting. I have always been asked about our postal code when we entered some of the parks but I never received any pin code in the mail. There was a few times in the past that when we mentioned we were from Canada, the CM said thank you for your time and asked for nothing else. In the past few times, they wanted some information.
I wouldn't be able to use it, since we have a DVC vacation planned already for that time. But it was really strange to get one.:)

Well I called and I was able to book Old Key West , Studio room for $177 per night at the end of August. Not sure if we will go but it is room only so you only have to prepay 1 night room and tax. I was told that you can use this PIN for a package with tickets and dining plan also, but we have tickets left over and the girls prefer the pools to the parks.
I checked 4 or 5 hotels and pretty much everything was available.

I also got one in the mail, first time too, of course we're already booked with free dining in August, so it probably won't get used, but it's nice to know they are coming to Canadians. :goodvibes

Add me to the list of people who got one mailed to my address with the wrong name. My mom had her name on my ressie for one night, 5 years ago and the postcard came in her name. :confused3 We're doing the 4/3 deal anyway, but you wait years for a code, and when it finally comes, you can't use it because it's in someone else's name. :headache:

Like everyone else, I too received a code by snail mail. I was so excited as I read on here about the code even before I picked up my mail. Convinced DH that we have to go back next year:lmao: :lmao: This is all after our first ever trip this September.
I later talked to my 2 sisters and they both received codes as well. Now, one has not been in 12 years and the other not at all. Here's what I think happenned - when this whole celebration thingy happenned, I sent them the contest and methinks Disney picked up names and addresses from there;)
Now to figure out how to make this work to our advantage.

I just rechecked the card and it's addressed to me with my full name, first, maiden, married. Which is how I am registered on the disneyparks site. We have never booked a ressie with that name. I am always the lead name and it's just booked with my first and married name.
I still have no theory on how they send them out because I would have guessed that there was no incentive for them to send me anything. We stayed onsite 3 times in a span of 16 months. The length of the 3 trips was from 8-14 nights. The latest being June/July of this year. I would think that on paper we sound like a sure thing.
I'm still calculating, in my head, the cost of maybe staying someplace I would never spend the money on ie: BC or Poly.

Add me to the list for receiving the 40% off card in the mail today with someone else's name....the person that lived here before us??? We only been at this address since.....ummmmm 2001 and we've been to Disney World 3 times and one cruise since moving in !:lmao:
I did get an email from Disney but not for the 40% code I got the buy 4 days get 3 free after seeing that promo on the Dis, on TV, in the Saturday's Star newspaper. Don't they know I feel left out ?:confused3

I got two in the mail yesterday!
One addressed to me and one to my friend who I traveled with a few years ago - to my address.
That trip was in September 2006, my friend's name was one the reservation too, so I suspect sometimes they are computer generated from previous bookings.

I don't understand either. We usually stay at DVC resorts using our points and we go twice a year for 14 nights each.
And the last time we book under CRO at the other Disney resorts was AKL 8 years ago and it was under my husbands name. This 40% pin code is under my name.:confused3
Now my only guess is that since we do stay at the DVC resorts and book it through the Members Reservation (hence we are not in their system), and so when they asked for our postal code when we visited last time, they may have thought that we don't stay onsite. So they figured sending me a pin code will entice me to stay in one of the resorts. If that's the case, then that makes sense.

I got one too - addressed to me using my Maiden name, and sent to my parent's house!! I've been married for 9 years and DH and I have gone to WDW twice in that time. I did go YEARS ago with my parents (1987), would that be how they got that name? Who knows? Wonder if we'll be able to use it, since almost all my ID is in my married name?:confused3

Yes, you can use it. Just call them and explain that you are now married. You don't need to tell them how long you've been married. They will just change your info in their system. If it were me I would leave the address as is until right before you travel. Then call them and change it.

I got the 40% off code too. Does anyone know if I book this room only for August and then they offer free dining during that time, can I get both? Thanks, ;)
We received a postcard code at work!!! addressed to some unknown person named Joe( that's not me, although maybe it was a typo...) I looked his name up in the phone book and there isn't a joe _____ in the book. Our shop is in an old warehouse in an industrial park. no houses or condos even close. I almost cried when I saw the postcard that didn't have my name on it!!!
We're not going in 2009 either, but the postcard in my name may have been a deal breaker!

Wouldn't that be great? :) No, Disney doesn't allow "stacking" of codes. You can switch to free dining...if it is offered...but sometimes what is available with FD is not what you already have booked, so you might have to change resorts or category of room. HTH

I also got the 40% deal in the mail and with the wrong name on it and it is the 1st time we've ever got anything in the mail. The name isn't anyone I know and we are the only family that has ever lived in our house so I am puzzled to where they got the name from. A bummer though since I was hoping to go again this summer, let's hope free dining will be offered again for August.:goodvibes

We rec'd the postcard with 40% of Value resorts as well. However, I think if we decided to go back in 2009, the free-dining option would save us more money (family of 4) as we would go during the value seasons anyways. I'll hold into the card anways....you never know when we'll win the lotto :cool1:

Well--I am always 1st on the bookings and it came to me.
BUT I am a TA and never book anymore on the conventional WDW site. Only the TA site? Maybe they wonder where I went?:confused3
I can't use it..the TA rate is better, wish I could pass it along.

I am reading about everyone receiving all the 40% pins and booking ahead..
i am crossing my fingers.. but then it got me thinking..
what if ... booked everything with this pin code that everyone is talking about BUT THEN some new great special suddenly comes along .. example... new resort discount code or whatever that would make it cheaper for you ...
can the reservations be changed to get the better deal ?? ie. the deal that would come out cheaper or do you have to stick with the deal you have now , which is the 40%.. thanks
