I am planning on renting points from a DVC member. I am not yet a DVC member. Does that person make the reservation on my behalf? Do I receive any information from DVC before my trip (i.e. check in procedures, etc.)?

The member should make the reservation in your name. The confirmation will be sent to the member, who should forward the information to you. Since you are not reserving thru Disney- you will be dependant on the member for all information about your stay. Be aware that you will not receive daily housekeeping, but may pay extra for that service.
Once you have checked in- you will be treated like any other guest at the resort. Enjoy! :)
