My teenDD has outgrown her Kodak PS and would like to move up. A DSLR is out of her price range. We have looked at the above cameras and the prices are Canon SX100IS $199.99, Lumix DMC-TZ5 $339.99 and Fuiji S1000 $209.99. We are looking for reliablity, quality of picture, and a more versitile camera so that she can continue her interest in photography. Any advice or first hand knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

While I don't have 1st hand knowledge of those particular cameras, you can't go wrong with the Fuji as far as I'm concerned. I shot a friends wedding with my 4 year old Fuji S5100 w/ 10x zoom, 3mp. They were very happy with the pictures, and I was pleased, too. The colors are very nice, the shutter lag is not too bad (especially compared to my brother's Kodak and my Canon), and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I would not hesitate to buy another Fuji camera.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards the Fuiji since it was at Costco which has the best return policy if something goes wrong. I know that Canon is the big name in cameras but I have heard some horror stories.
