I believe I read in my Passporter that you can fish at POR in the surrounding streams/water ways. Does anyone know if this is a fact and have you done this?

POR does have a fishing hole near the main pool. But I believe it is strictly catch & release.

Po-R has a fishing hole at the resort. You can rent a pole from them with live bait or I saw others who brought their own pole and tackle box. It is a catch and release type of thing. What we found is that the fish were shy of the hooks as their mouths were sore so it was hard to catch them. Although my son absolutely loved the experience...even the worm thing. The pole they rent is one like you would envision in Huck Finn...a stick with a line and hook. It was kinda fun. Made for great photos. You rent the pole by the 1/2 hour, I think.

Thanks for the info.
My DH would without a doubt bring his own pole and gear.

i did this with my 4 yr old son 2 weeks ago and he loved it--as for using your own gear im not sure because the fish are very small--the hooks they use are tiny and they gave us cheese on the day we went.i caught 2 fish as well as my son but i think this is good for younger kids and not a serious fisherman because like i said all the fish we seen were very small--i do know that they offer a fishing trip early in the monrning and take you out for serious fishers-im not sure on the cost..have a great time-wish i was going back already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fishing hole opens early am and closes at 12, with the last pole rentals at 11:30 a.m. they have a deal to rent 4 poles which is cheaper than one. We are going in three weeks and will fish as well....

have fun.

As well as the fishing hole, you can fish the waterways (at least you could the last time we were there about two years ago). DH is a keen angler and didn't want to be restricted to the fishing hole - he had some success on the waterways both early morning and at dusk. He also caught from the docking area at POFQ.

Tight lines!

...my DH took my 3 DS's there one morning..What a great photo op!!! As posted, it is not for "really serious" fisher-persons (gotta be politically correct -lol!!) but rather a enjoyable pastime for an hour or so. Yes, the fish were kinda small, but my 7 y.o. (he was 6 at the time) LOVED it, especially when he was the first one to catch a fish!!! I really won't "lug" all the fishing gear to WDW (unless maybe you will be visiting another part of Florida that is known for fishing) Part of the charm of the Ol' Fishin' Hole is using their "rustic" poles, just like Huck Finn!!
