This may be off topic, but I was just talking to another long time DVC member the other day and Clarry Trice came up in conversation. Do any of you old timers recall him? This was back in the days of the Prodigy Boards. I remember he passed not long after OKW opened, but helped a lot of people with Disney Information and especially the new (at the time) DVC. From what I recall they planted a tree in his honor at OKW. Does anyone know if that tree is still there?

I don't know if anyone here joined prior to 12/91 when we signed up. I don't remember that name at all. Sorry.:(

I thought it might be a long shot. It would really only be people who hung out on Prodigy's Disney forums in 1991 and 1992 that would even remember this. Thanks for the reply though.

I had the pleasure of meeting Clarry & his wife, Emily, about a year before he died. A small group of Prodigy members got together one evening to hear John Charles (I think that's what his name is). I can't remember where this was though. This was before we joined DVC; I wish I had listened to Clarry and bought then instead of waiting til '94 to join.

I hope you can access this link (http://216.239.35.100/search?q=cache:PUrS1tmuT0UC:homepages.msn.com/ResortRd/stevecluck/+Clarry+Trice+&hl=en). It mentions Clarry Trice.

I do remember hearing about Clarry and the tree planted in his memory. It's near the quiet pool at Turtle Pond if memory serves. I frequented the old Prodigy site, too, and it was the discussions there that convinced me to buy in 1995. I almost bought in in 1994 and wish I did. Then I would have had one more year of free passes!! :D

I remember Clarry Trice from the Prodigy boards very well. He was such a great poster and he had excellent advice. For years I kept some of his posts, but no longer have them. Much to my regret I did not buy into DVC at that time.

Clarry Trice is the person who most influenced our decision to buy into the DVC. Clarry & his wife bought in sometime in early 1992. They were influenced by an early member - Mr. G, who joined in December 1991. Clarry passed away in March 1993. He originally planned the "gathering" which was held in December 1993; another Prodigy participant picked up the plans & the first Gathering was held as Clarry had hoped. DVC sponsored a get together the evening before the first official Gathering. It was a sales incentive!
Clarry's tree is still alive & well. As a matter of fact on our last visit Disney was doing some major trimming to it. It has grown quite large compared to its size when it was first planted. I believe it was a Prodigy person from CT who "lobbyed" Disney to do something in his memory. Disney does not put plaques acknowledging in memeory of, but many of us visit the tree on each visit. the tree is to the right of the entrance to the Turtle Pond pool entrance.
There is a Gathering plaque inside Olivia's towards the back near the booth where that fictional guy used to sit :).
Clarry, his wife, Mr. G & his wife & others met in May 1992 to listen to John Charles on the Empress Lilly. That was the night the Gathering was born! They had discussed it earlier that evening at dinner. I still have the original *P note Clarry wrote a few days after that May meet.

We were at the Empress Lilly that night. Were you there? I can't remember who other than the Trices were there. I have pictures from that get-together somewhere in one of our many photo albums.
We just got back from OKW and didn't see the plaque this year. I didn't know where they had put it. I remember the guy in the back booth....wasn't his name Captain Wahoo?
