Well the good news is my DW, Jackie, got a new job. The bad news is that she may not be able to keep her vacation. That means the WDW vacation in September and October is in jeopardy.
We won't know for sure until Monday or Tuesday next week...let the anxiety begin.

Bummer. Did she tell them when they hired her she had a vacation planned? Sometimes, if they really want you and you tell them when they make the offer, they'll allow it......tell them you've already got flights booked that are nonrefundable. Were you planning on taking the kids back this time? and going in Sept/Oct instead of catching the MNSSHP again? We could use a "pro family" to guide us through!:D

We decided that if she can't get a vacation in September we would push the trip as far ahead as we have to but still be able to use our AP's. All we have to do is wait.
Hi Jdads,
I just switched jobs last week. On my first day I just explained to my supervisor that I had already scheduled a vacation for Sept. 10-21 and I hoped that I wouldn't have to cancel it. She had no problem with it at all, despite the fact that we are just now initiating a huge NIH funded research project and Sept. we'll really be busy with our data collection. I hope your DW's supervisor/position allows you all to keep your vacation. Maybe we'll see you there!

I had to cancel last year (rescheduled for August, thankfully!), so I feel your agony. Hope it works out for you!

We ran into the same situation last year when my fiance switched jobs in June and we had a two week trip scheduled for the end of July, first week of August.
He told them when they hired him and said he didn't expect to be paid since he knows the policy is two weeks PAID after 6 months. Obviously, it's not a good choice for everyone - we don't have kids, so it's easy for us to say "Sure, don't pay us for two weeks!" But, if it's possible, maybe that could save the vacation.
If not....just plan a bigger and better vacation for a few months later! I hope it all works out for you and your family.
