My grandmother used to make a hot icing but we can't seem to find the recipe. It was a chocolate icing and it was sooo delicious!
Has anyone heard of this?
Do you have a recipe you are willing to share?

Do you mean cooked icing? I can still see my grandmother at the stove stirring her chocolate icing. It was the best ever and I wish I had the recipe. All I know is that it had sugar, butter and cocoa. I don't know what else. It wasn't a "thick" icing and she sort of poured it on the cake. And then I would like the pot!!!

That could be it!
Sounds exactly like it. She just called it Hot Icing.

Could it be the chocolate sheet cake icing? I dont have it in front of me, but google it and it should come up. Or I know it is on the pioneer womans blog. This is my favorite cake!

ooh. I remmber that recipe. If has to be served hot, and if you like, you can cut your cake horizontally, pour a bit of the icing in there and let the cake soak it up. Then, a few minutes before you serve the cake, you pour the rest of the icing on top.
I do know how to make it, but I don't have an exact recipe. Mine is more like a hot fudge icing-syrup thing. As it cools, it becomes denser, that's why you need to serve it warm, or hot.
I'll see if I can get the aproximate recipee form a fiends.
