Mouse Skywalker asked me during chat to have a Primanti's sandwich for him. Well I just had one. YUMMY. You can see Primanti's on a variety of Food Network, Travel Channel and History Channel shows about famous sandwiches across the country.

They started in Pittsburgh's Strip District 75 years ago. They make all sorts of sandwiches. They all come with sweet and sour cole slaw and french fries on the sandwich. They originally were only open from midnight to 8 in the morning for the truckers who were making deliveries to the warehouses in the Strip (the Strip is the former wholesale center for a lot of things including produce. It is a strip of land between a major road and the Allegheny River. Now it is a great place to shop.)

They have grown into a local chain. I actually think they have one open in Florida somewhere. Key West? I don't remember.

I'm stuffed right now. And I have to try and work for another 3 hours. :sad2: (abouit having to work)

I am so jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think there is one in Fort Lauderdale. I love Primanti's. I also could go for a Benkovitz or Wholey fish sandwich.

Kim, yum. I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch. I'll be having a Primanti's next week when my family is in town. We always go shopping the day after Thanksgiving and it's a tradition to stop at Primanti's for lunch.

Mouse Skywalker, please tell me you don't like IC beer. I wouldn't even drink that when I was a poor college student. It takes like the can it's in. The only thing worse it IC Lite. - nice picture

Kathy, I almost had a Benkovitz fish sandwich last night at the Steeler game, but I passed. They did smell good though. Do you ever visit Pittsburgh? I think I live in the same town where you used to live. Did your daughter go to SV?

You were right about the Primanti's in Ft. Lauderdale.

We lived in the North Hills. We were back in Pgh last year for a visit. It seems like a million years since we moved. It will be 5 years in Dec since we moved here.

I didn't realize they sold the fish sandwich at the Steeler games.

My favorite Pgh treat is Silver Star casing hot dogs. The last time I was there I bought 25 pounds of them and froze them. My family laughed at me when the suitcase was delayed by the airline. We did get them on the next flight.

There are certain foods that I miss from Pgh. I also miss the Strip district. I wish we had something like that here in Orlando.

I actually had a fish sandwich. I go to the one in Market Square. The Oyster House is across the square from them, but I have never liked the fish sandwiches at the Oyster House. And the Strip is WAY to far to walk to get a Wholey's or Benkowitz's sandwich. Especially when is is only 26 degrees out and snowing.

Light up Night weather will certainly be in keeping with the season this year.

Wasn't the Oyster House that had a location at the airport? I thought they had an ok fish sandwich. Primanti's was better than them.

What is the weather like in Pgh today?

Kathy, its been cold all week. We have been getting snow bands off the lake. Not a lot in the city, but they have had enough in the mountains for Seven Springs to open today.

Isn't that early for Seven Springs to open? Thanks for the update.

Yes it is early for them. They have gotten 10 inches of natural snow and they have been able to make another 12.
