Hi all! I have just scheduled a 7 night Eastern cruise for December 14, 2002. This will be my first cruise. I was originally booked for August 24, 2002 and I'm getting a little jealous of their thread asking who's all going on that date!;) So, I started wondering, who's with me in December? I know it's kinda far away, but I'm excited! Maybe we can schedule a meet onboard closer to the actual cruise date! My DH and I will be onboard and we will be celebrating my birthday which is December 15! Who else is going with you and are you excited, too?:)

Hi There!
I think there are a few of us that are sailing that date! We will be there...my DD 9 and myself. I would love to get together for a meet!

Hi...we are very excited!
Michelemouse started a thread several months ago but has not had much response. Yes, we have been excitingly planning our first family reunion cruise for over a year now. Will include 4nana, Pop Pop and family....son, 3 daughter's, 3 son's in law and 7 grands ages 1-15. We will have 5 cabins Cat 9 on Deck 2 and can't wait to make some magical family memories! The countdown is on!!

We will be sailing then, also!! DH, DD, and myself. Also, my DB, SIL, and their family, but I am sure Gail will be posting on her own.
A DIS meet sounds good.

LOL, 1karen!

Sounds like your DH and mine will have something in common! That's the reason why I had to reschedule to December, DH had to work!
Wow, 4nana! You will have quite the party group!
Glad to hear that you are all interested in meeting, I think that will start our vacation off right!:D

I know there are more of us out there!!
This is our second cruise also - last Christmas we cruised with a family group of 19. There will not be as many this year, but it will be great !!
SuAnne
05-10-2002, 09:54 AM
I am sooo looking forward to our cruise too. We went just before Christmas in 2000 on the4 Day Wonder and I promised my daughter we would go back this year and do the 7 day cruise. It will be nice to be able to meet up with some DISer's as it will be just my daughter and myself (we were originally sailing with a friend who hs had to cancel :( ) Can't wait!!! :bounce:

Count us in too! DH, and 3 DS's - 21, 19 and 13 by the time we sail. My parents are also booked. This will be our third "Magic"al cruise - keep 'um coming!

I was just wondering if anyone knows what cabin(s) they will be in? I am booked for a cat. 6 on deck 6, stateroom 6082. Where are you?:)
SuAnne
05-13-2002, 12:57 PM
Well we are now in 5640 with a Navigator's verandah. We were in a Cat. 3 until our friend had to cancel :( but I've read lots of good things about the Navigator's verandahs which should be perfect for DD and I!
glindamood
05-13-2002, 06:08 PM
This is our third cruise - first was a Cat 6 (6092) and the second in a Cat 4 (8586). I booked using our DVC points and we are in a Cat 10 this time - paying cash for 3 DS's that are in a secret porthole room on Deck 5. We are 2 adults and didn't spend that much time on our verandah and just decided against it for this trip. We are somewhere on Deck 2 - I must just have a mental block about the number.
4nana
05-13-2002, 06:39 PM
As a group we had to go something affordable for all,
so we chose Cat 9 Deck 2 adj 5 cabins. This is our
first Dis cruise, so I'm sure we'll be happy just to be
together on the ship. Come on December...can't wait !!!!!
:D ;) :)

We are in 8590 - the same room we had last Christmas. It will seem like home, and the motion did not bother me there.
I am convinced that for the next cruise, we could do with inside cabins. There is so much to do around the ship that there is little reason to spend much time in the room.

My Parents traveled with us in an adjoining room on the last cruise It was a wondrerful vacation. We are looking forward to this cruise. See you then, Jennifer

Welcome, tdailjr! I see this is your first post! You will find lots of information on these boards, they are great! Thanks for joining our thread, I absolutely cannot wait until our Dec. cruise! You said that this is your second cruise. Was your first with Disney or another cruise line? :)

Hi Jennifer! Glad to see someone else sailing along with us on Dec. 14 :bounce: We're now down to our 200 day mark until we leave for the WDW part of the trip and today we received our tickets to MVMCP and our local radio station was broadcasting live from AKL all day...the excitement is building!

05-22-2002, 04:02 PM
bizybea, I found out what our cabin number is. We are in room 6626. My husband said we were toward the back of the ship.
SuAnne, are you also going to Disney World? Or is there a MVMCP on the ship too?
Does any one know what type of special programs they will have for christmas on the ship? :earsgirl:
SuAnne
05-22-2002, 04:58 PM
We are going to MVMCP at WDW on the Thursday before the cruise. We were on the 4 day Wonder cruise just before Christmas in 2000. The Atrium was all decorated and there was a huge tree.. They had character greetings with Mickey and Minnie in their holiday attire, a tree lighting ceremony, a Christmas concert with a wonderful Bahamian choir the night we were in Nassau, Mrs. Claus reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas....lots of Christmassy things. We enjoyed it so much we decided our next cruise would be in December. I read in a 7 Day Navigator from 2001 that they also have Gingerbread House making! It should get us all in the holiday spirit :)
bizybea
05-22-2002, 08:19 PM
That's cool, tdailjr! We'll be on the same floor, but I'm on the other side of the ship. I can't wait to get on that verandah! Ooo...I bet the ship will be so pretty! Does anyone know if they sell ornaments on the ship in the summer? I was originally scheduled to sail in Aug but couldn't go after all so we scheduled in Dec. I really wanted to get a Magic ornament but didn't know if they sold them year round. I'm sure I'll see them on our Dec. cruise, I was just curious. Also, what is MVMCP?
SuAnne
05-22-2002, 08:49 PM
When we were on our cruise in Dec. 2000 they had already sold out of the Christmas ornaments ( it was early Dec.) so hopefully they will have them this time.
MVMCP is "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party" which they have at the Magic Kingdom on several nights a week from late Nov. until approx. the week before Christmas. You need to buy a seperate ticket for it and this year it is from 7pm-Midnight after the Park closes. They have snow on Main Street, fireworks, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade, some special shows, cookies and hot chocolate, character greetings and the rides are also open. It is lots of fun!
bizybea
05-22-2002, 08:56 PM
No way! They sold out of the ornaments in early December?! You would think that they would sell so many per sailing to ensure that they would last.
The MVMCP sounds neat!

This will be our first Dis cruise so we are all very excited! There are 16 in our family w/5 cabins Cat 9 on Deck 2. We are flying in the night before and will be staying at the 'Radisson'. Plans are to use '********' for transpo to the hotel. Now, to get some descent airfare for our gang from Md's BWI to MCO.

I'm thrilled to find this board as it has answered a lot of questions and I feel that I have some idea as to what to expect.
We (DH-46,DW-41,DD-11,& DS-8) are cruising Dec.14 on the Magic. This will be our first Disney cruise ( and also our kids' first cruise). We have the early seating for meals. Sounds like we may be seeing a lot of 4nana & family as we are on Deck 2 also and will be staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise!!!

I don't think I can stand the wait! I'm so excited to go!! It's only 4 months away, but today I realized that that also means Christmas is only 4 months away. Uggg....
What side of the ship are you all on? We have a balcony cabin and we are on port side right now. On the other 3 night cruises we've done with DCL, being on the port side was fine, but I'm wondering if starboard is better for the views. Any opinions from my fellow 14Dec cruisers?

We hope to do Palo's once! We'd prefer Palo's brunch or high tea as opposed to dinner, we don't want to miss any dining room meals with the family ;) I believe Palo's brunch is served 10:30-1 on sea days, Sun., Mon., Thurs. There is also Character Brk. we need to consider, but that is at 8:30am and should not be a problem. What I'd give to know our Dining rotation. It would ease some of the anxiety of planning ;) Why is that not issued 60 days out when paid in full?????

I would love to meet with other DISers. I think the Lumieres idea is great - although Palo's brunch cant' be beat, from experience I can say that it is tricky booking a large group from several rooms. I don't know about booking the tea.
We can set a time for Lumieres on a sea day and just show up.

Just after we came home from our cruise two years ago,the Disney Chritmas special was on TV and they has filmed some of it on the Wonder and showed Santa flying over the ship, so Hayley thinks that since it will be so close to Christmas that we might see him this year!
I love all this pre-trip excitment...between that and Christmas, I'm in heaven

Hi Target!
That was us! We're from London...but it's London here in Canada. Not nearly as far away as London, England but lovely all the same. We're about 2 hrs. from Detroit.
I think you're right though about the documents going out to passengers ouside the U.S first as I recall someone else on another cruise from Canada who received their documents quite early.
I'm sure you'll be getting them any day now!

Another reported receipt of documents - but sadly not mine. Our children are in a room by themselves (one is 21) and he got his yesterday plus my parents are joining us and they got theirs today. Since I booked with DVC using points and they were both DU reservations I am thinking that is why we don't have ours yet.

So glad another Dis. family will be traveling with us! Please browse thru our thread and you'll get a feel of who you will be traveling with from our board. ;) We have quite a few kids and some around your age range, so hopefully everyone will get to meet. Some have already made email penpals. no docs for us yet either, but we booked through a TA and with air included so I don't expect to see them until next week at the earliest. We don't even know what flight we're on yet! Hope it's very early. This board has been the most helpful information we've found. We are all excited about this adventure and in need of some good family time and relaxation from our usual hectic schedule. DS 19, who will have just finished her finals at college is dreaming of lounging by the adult pool, soaking up sunshine! Sounds good to me!

Got my air info from DCL today. Great times! Arrive the day before at 11am (direct flight on United from Washington DC)-be able to enjoy the Hyatt and do a little pre-cruise shopping (soda, etc). We don't fly out to DC until 1:50 pm on the 21st (I'll get home in time to attend my office Christmas party that night!) and it is a direct flight again! :bounce: :Pinkbounc Wow! I was nervous about the air being bad times, or yucky airlines, but I have had the pixie dust sprinkled on me! I am thrilled!:D The guy at DCL said my docs were shipped yesterday and may arrive today, but definately tomorrow!:bounce: :Pinkbounc I left a note on my door saying that my signature on the note gave them authorization to leave the package-do you think this will work? I hope I pasted the link correctly. If I did, that is my DH and myself on the right with my sister and her husband last December. Feel free to page through the other pictures.... they are fun to look at again!
Everyone have a great weekend!

Here we are on formal night last year - I am next to Micky, DD is next to Minnie. DH is the tall one in the middle - he is easy to find in a crowd.
A week from now - we will be halfway between Columbus and Orlando. Time to pack!!!

"It's beginning to look alot like Christmas"
:D
How is everyone doing with the hustle, bustle of Christmas and getting ready to cruise?? Among the rush, am dedicating today for decorating the house, tree and get the Xmas cards signed. Going over list and checkin' it twice, about 90% ready, with piles ready to go south. ;)
Unfortunately 3 of the grands have suffered w/a 48 hr virus this week:(. I won't go into details, I feel so bad for them, the 18mo old has it now and it is not fun... believe me. Keeping our fingers crossed all get well and stay well ^i^....Friday is almost here!!
Everyone take care and try to stay well. :teeth:
Ohhhh....I found the "lime green " ribbon and got enough for our group!!!!:bounce:
Am working on a picture link:(

Started packing today! We have a busy week ahead. I guess that will help the week go by fast. I think we're trying to bring too much. Packing for 6 is not easy. I know something will be forgotten. Still looking for lime green ribbon. We are all so excited! :bounce: Happy packing everyone!! Next sunday we'll be sailing!
4Nana--- My little one just got over a little flu bug too. Better now than later in the week! Hope they feel better soon.

After cleaning up from a big Xmas dinner today, I'll be doing a little ironing then getting everything ready to put in suitcases. We have a little more than cruise packing because we will be staying in Orlando after the cruise until Jan. 4.
Tomorrow , 8 yr. old DS will be having his front permanent tooth capped after falling on ice Thurs. and breaking half of it off!!
Better than breaking a limb I guess.
I for one am certainly looking forward to a relaxing vacation.
Can't believe it's getting so close to going. Here's to everyone staying healthy! See you all soon!

Has everyone booked their excursions? Should we wait or go ahead and book? Want the butterfly farm and Trunk Bay! Thanks! Time to pack!!

If you know what you excursions you want to book, I'd say go ahead and book them! That way it's one less thing to do when you finally get on board and you don't have to worry about them being full!
Have fun packing!

Well, I posted a reply and it didn't take, so here we go again!
We booked our excursions at 60 days out. Me and my DD14 are doing the Pinel snorkel on St. Maarten, the whole family is doing the sub ride at St. Thomas (DD6 and DH can't swim), and DD14 is doing parasailing at Castaway Cay.:bounce: It's only money....that leaves us half the time on each place.
4nana, reserve one of your green ribbons for me, since I didn't get the chance to look this weekend! (busy decorating house, doing laundry, buying and decorating tree, doing laundry, took DD6 to birthday party, doing laundry, took DD14 to ice hockey practice, doing laundry, finished Christmas shopping, doing laundry, wrapped gifts, doing laundry, went to church, doing laundry):p
WHEW! I need a vacation! The baskets are ordered from The Perfect Gift, everything is packed but the clothes (those are folded and piled high to be picked through tonight and packed), kennel is reserved, the convertible is reserved for use on Friday, and United just filed for bankruptcy! That is who we are flying! Oh well....no worries. I am not complaining because our flights are GREAT! I am sure they are flying, so no sweat here. My husband thinks I am having my midlife crisis (I'm 39) by reserving the convertible. We have never reserved (or owned) one before! I just want to feel the wind in my hair!! :p
See you all soon....if not at check in, then on Monday at 11:30 in Lumiere's! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Target and Dec 14 cruisers...
YES, I have enough "LIME GREEN" ribbon for everyone !!!
Ooooh Target, the wind blowing in your hair sounds so adventurous! You go girl!!! You only go around once!
Whose bright idea was it to cruise a week before Christmas?? ;)
I am really going to need this vacation ~ all the planning and getting ready for cruise, plus decorating and shopping for Christmas is taking it's toll! ;)
Keeping fingers crossed all stay well ^i^. Thank goodness our grands are better and recovering from their terrible virus.
lillilace ~ of all the luck, sorry about your sons tooth.
Hope all goes well there.
Tooth Fairy ~ If you are sure you would like to do an excursion, why not book it now? If you really want to do something I would hate to see you wait and take a chance on it being booked. Our group decided to do a non Disney all day outing on St. T. We will be met by our guide in the morn ~ sight see the island, shop, lunch, swim at our choice of beach, visit Coral World and the men are going to Parasail and return to ship by 4pm. :) Probably tired, sunburnt and ready for a shower, nap and room-service..
LOL!

4nana- that's so sweet that you got enough ribbon for everyone! Like Target my weekend got away from me and I didn't get around to ribbon searching....
Target- I changed my flights (I'm using frequent flyer miles) and I'm now getting into Orlando around noon on Friday instead of 2pm. My hubby isn't getting in until around 11pm (he is not using miles and HAD to work the whole day...), so I have the whole day to relax by the pool.... don't forget to look for "Omaha" if you are up there!
Have fun with the convertible, I acutally own one (I live in Nebraska- and yes it's really silly to have a conv. here!) and it's the best feeling in the world to cruise around with the wind in your hair! Have fun.
Nobody worry about United, I work in the travel industry, and they are NOT going to cease operations any time soon... don't fret! You'll all be just fine!

My 4.5 year old DD will be joining your family on the sub ride! She was too little to do the 12 metre regatta with the others. We'll see you there!

Henn1313,
Doesn't that excursion sound fun? My DD6 is going to be amazed at all that is "under the waves." I am looking forward to it. I just picked up a rolling duffle to stick in the bottom of our suitcase for our water, soda and juice we will purchase in Orlando to take on the ship. Especially with the drink stations closed now, we will be bringing on our own drinks (we don't do alchohol-although I may try one of those tropical thingies!). I was going to have The Perfect Gift deliver the water and soda but at $1 a can, it is cost prohibitive. Cheaper my way.
Will finish packing tonight and will try to relax tomorrow and Thursday.....this is gonna be fun....:D :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Last minute thoughts...
Lumiere's 11:30 luncheon ~
It being the dressier of the dining rooms....does that apply to lunch?? What is your clothing suggestion????? Are we wearing causual like nice top w/ capris or more dressy dinner type, should our men wear jackets???
luv2tvl
12-11-2002, 07:45 AM
11:30 at Lumieres on Monday, right? Just want to make sure I don't miss it!
I don't think the guys have to be that dressy. If I remember right from past cruises, you saw just about everything in the dining rooms for lunch....
Everyone will also have to come to one of the Keroke nights so you can hear me sing... (that's my favorite thing to do, and I think there are TWO nights of it!) Wahoo....
2 more full days of work.... I'm worthless!

Hey Dis Gang - - AFter all these months (and years) It's almost here - and Ohio is in the middle of an ice storm and winter storm warning!! All I care is that it will be clear to fly out on Saturday. Each ice storm makes the cruise all that much better.
4Nana - Lunch at Lumieres is casual - nice shorts, & t-shirts are fine. No jackets. Usually not tanks or very short-shorts or swimming suit coverups , even though there is no prohibition. Just did not see them - custom, I guess.
Two more days of work!!!!
See you soon - -

Okay all! I am packed!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc For the four of us, there are three checked bags and we each have a small carry on (husband's is the camera equip). One carry on has toiletries, one has swimwear and christmas gifts for some friends in FL, and the other carryon has our semi formal wear with one other outfit (incl shoes). This way, if everything else is lost, we can still attend the semi formal and formal nights and have a shorts outfit for the week (just need to wash every night). :p I also split up everyone's clothes among the checked suitcases. I used the vacuum bags for the big suitcase, and it weighted in at 65 pounds! Hope they don't check the weight at the airport! I packed an extra rolling duffle for the drinks we will be buying. That will be an empty bag for the ride home (souvies). Also, one of the carry ons will be empty of the christmas gifts so we can redistribute some of the clothes (since I don't know if I will be able to find a vacuum to use those bags again!).
I think all is ready and we are heading off to a hotel by the airport tomorrow night (Thursday). We don't want to fight DC traffic to get to the plane in the morning. Also, we can leave our car at the hotel while we are gone. A little safer than the airport parking areas, I would imagine.:D
Looking forward to seeing you guys at Lumieres on Monday.
4nana, Samantha is dying to see Tyler! We have a little Christmas gift for him and Bethany. They have been writing almost every night. Thanks so much for hooking them up! It is going to be great seeing them meet for the first time!:D
I have today and tomorrow at work. I am worthless as well (see-I am spending my time here!). The ice storm today didn't help....but it did delay coming into work by an hour!:D I'll take it!
See you all soon!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Target ~ girlfriend, you have it all together don't you?! :teeth:
We are very excited and about half packed. My gosh, it is
a task to get this gang ready! Anything that isn't bought, too bad!! Anxious to just get on the plane Friday morn., sit down, breath a sigh of relief that we've come this far and probably CRY ;)!! Can't wait to see my Seattle daughter and family!
Yes, I think Ty and Sam will enjoy recognizing another kid on the on the ship, even tho he will be very shy at first. He got her the cutest -----? Hum, no can tell, but I know she will love!
It is pouring rain here, but the ground is still covered w/plenty of snow as I dream of some warm Caribbean weather.
Target - I will look for you in your convertible w/your hair blowing in the wind. If you see a 15 pass. van, trailer w/ 25 pcs. of luggage, carseats, strollers, diaper bags, etc....you will know it is us...LOL!!
Take care all ~ can't wait to meet everyone at our luncheon!
Suzanne, thanx for your advise, casual it is. :smooth:

Well, I hope everyone has a safe trip to Orlando in the next couple of days.
I am pretending :p to work today, and then bright and EARLY tomorrow I am off to Orlando.
I can't wait to meet you all on Monday (or if I see someone before) at the lunch at Lumieres....

Emily,
We are heading to Dulles Airport tonight to stay overnight and we fly out at 8:50 am on United. We can leave our car at the hotel since we are staying there tonight. No rush hour traffic to deal with either! I will look for you at the Hyatt pool, but, as you said, if we miss each other, I will see you Monday at Lumiere's. Hard to believe it is actually happening. My family is getting visibly excited (a rarity). Just a warning, my DH is very shy (not is private!) and probably won't talk much at lunch on Monday.
I am still debating the surial bath, and probably won't decide until I am stepping foot onto the ship....too many pros and cons....
I actually cleaned the house last night (since packing was done) and the family watched the second of our four Christmas movies (tradition each year)! "Christmas Vacation!" What a hoot! We already watched "A Christmas Story" and will see "Jingle All the Way" and my favorite "Holiday Inn" with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire when we return. Certainly in the mood for the holidays now!
See you all soon!!:D :bounce: :Pinkbounc
