We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for four nights and will be booking the dining package. My sister-in-law will be joining us for three of the four nights (in the same room).

How would we go about adding her to the reservation? When I tried to do it on-line, I have to purchase the same reservation for everyone.

Can I call the resort after making the reservation and add her to the reservation (and the dining plan) for only 3 days?

I called Disney reservations and the rep told me it was up to the discretion of the resort.

We ran into the same situation with my sister in October 2007. (other than the fact that she came a few days later)

We had to either add her for the whole stay or do a split reservation and only add her for the last days.

Since they wouldn't guarantee that we could stay in the same room if we split the reservation, we just added her for the whole time and she used those extra credits for two signatures and a breakfast.

We have a similar situation. I am arriving with my kids on a Wednesday, and DH will come on Friday at the earliest. I told reservations, so had to add him for the whole time.

I just got a one day park ticket for the package, so he can upgrade his as he sees fit, and I'll get the kids and me a 6 day hopper.

They said it was okay if he wasn't there when we check in, and I'll just get his ticket/room key for him.

We also have the dining plan, so we'll just figure out how to use up his credits. It was a "free dining" offer with the Disney Visa for us, so if we don't use all the credits it's not a huge loss.

The same thing happened to us last February. We were stayin with friends for 6 of their 9 day trip. When I called to add the dining plan for us, they said that we had to purchase it for the whole length of their reservation because, of course we were staying with them. So we figured if we had to pay for it anyway, it was much better and easier to stay for the 9 nights. I know we spent a lot more money by doing that but........

*sigh* Seems like a flaw in how they do their reservations and dining plan b/c it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

So I guess we should buy the dining plan for her (it's only an extra day) and figure out a way to use the extra credits.

It's not a flaw. The rule is than all persons named on your reservation must purchase the dining plan for the length of the stay - the entire stay. Disney's done that for a reason - it's too difficult to keep track of people using dining credits for just a few days of a longer reservation. Imagine having to add dining credits for people coming and going.

There are two ways to deal with it - either split the stay into two reservations, or buy the dining plan for the extra person for the entire stay and find a way to use the credits they won't need. Or don't use the dining plan.
