Hi Everyone!

First things, first…DISCLAIMER: This is my first attempt at writing a Trip Report. I am not an author by trade, therefore please forgive me in advance for any mis-communication, ramblings, and any other incoherent writings. No animals were harmed in the making of this Trip Report. Please, be gentle

Ok, now, that we have that out of the way. My name is Christine aka DisneyQuilter. Let’s start with a little background information on me and my Cast of Characters for this trip.

Me (disneyquilter aka Christine): I am a mom to 2 beautiful daughters (you’ll meet Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum later on in our program) and the wife to a gorgeous husband (I have one friend who calls him Peter Brady, but really, I don’t see the resemblance). I am 32 y/o and an Obsessive-Compulsive Disney Planner. The latter is more meant to describe my freakishly over-obsession with planning for my WDW trips, more then my Disneyland day trips. See, the reason being, because I have been raised on Disneyland since birth. I am a native Southern Californian. Orange County, to be exact. Born, bred, and raised here. No, I am not one of those Real Housewives of the OC type. Far from it. I don’t live in Coto de Caza behind “the gates”, I am not blonde, and I don’t hang out at the beach all day. I live in a small suburb in Orange County, about 15 minutes from the Original Mouse House. Anyway, Disneyland is basically, in my backyard, so planning a “trip” to Disneyland takes me as long as packing a backpack to go…like 5 minutes. Now, I am totally straying off of subject—more on this later.

Back to my Cast & Crew

Enough about me, onto my DH, Kevin: He is a Disney Fan. He turned me onto Disney animation when I was 16 years old (yes, I have been with him for 16 years). He got Aladdin for Christmas, the first year we were together. I thought, “Wow, this is strange. 17 years old and mom is still getting him Disney cartoons for Christmas.” But what I didn’t realize was that he was so into the animation and the storytelling that it wasn’t “just a cartoon”. It was art. Now, on top of being a huge Disney animation fan, he loves the parks even more. Also, growing up in Orange County, Disneyland is a part of your childhood. Just like me, DH went all the time as a kid. Now, here are some other miscellaneous facts you may be interested in. He is 33 years old, father to our 2 beautiful daughters, a surfer, a soccer coach, and just a great guy. We’ve been together for 16 years and have been married 11 years.

DD#1, Tweedle Dee: My oldest DD, Tweedle Dee, is 11 years old. She is awesome. She looks like her dad, but has my attitude (oh man, I am in trouble in a couple years). She LOVES Disney. Since she was 4 years old, she has wanted to be a Disney animator. Storyboards, to be exact. She can draw like nobody’s business and she really is serious about it. She is also a OCD Planner when our WDW trips are concerned, but she can go to Disneyland and get around better then anyone I know. This kid can even tell me where there is an ATM machine without looking at the map. Do I have her trained or what? Some other facts, she is a soccer player, all-around good student and takes herself way to seriously sometimes. She is my more dramatic child (you will see this on the Trip Report).

Tweedle Dum aka “Bean” aka DD#2: Since she was an infant, I have called her Bean. I also call her the other half to Tweedle Dee, my Tweedle Dum. She is all about fun. Disneyland is her palace. She loves the characters (I am thinking it is because she is a character). She aspires to be a Disney dessert chef. She loves food, especially dessert and as soon as we went on our first trip to WDW in 2005, she discovered desserts are a “work of art”. She is NOT a planner. She is all about spontaneity. There is not a planning bone in her body. She is 9 years old, a soccer player, a comedian (you will see it in the photos), and an all-around good kid.

Now, I do need to say, I do not photograph well. So you will see me more behind the camera, then in front of it. Just remember, you were fore-warned. Here we are:

When you upload them you have to choose a size. One is 400x680 I believe. That's a good size to use. Yours look to be 120 x something? If you don't change that thing back it automatically loads every picture in at the same size.

Man, now I have to wait till I get home to upload my next installment. I need to reload all the pictures into Photobucket. I will choose the Large option, this time :)

Sorry Everyone!! A few more hours until I am home from work--then I can get my next installment done. Thanks for hanging with me popcorn::

Part Deux…

Ok, now that I have this Photobucket thing squared away, we can continue with our regularly scheduled programming.

How did this particular day trip come about?

Periodically, the family and I will take a Friday night and go to Downtown Disney. We have dinner, get some awesome carmel apples at Marceline’s and just “people watch” at the Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel. We have a blast, strolling down DTD and watching the bands and such. So, about 6 weeks before this Disneyland excursion, DH, myself and our girls were walking in the Grand Californian and I had mentioned that once the holidays are here, we should get tickets and go. Now, to give you a wee bit of background of our lives…it is a particular busy time of year for us. Both of our girls play soccer competitively, so we are going to games and practices Monday through Saturday. Both DH and I work full-time as well. Our schedules are pretty hectic, to say the least. Well, we are sitting on a bench outside the GC and the conversation goes a little somethin’ like this:

DH: So…you want to go to Disneyland
Me: Yep, let’s go next weekend
DH: We have games
Me: The following weekend?
DH: More games and a birthday party
Me (getting desperate at this juncture): October 18th??
DH: One game on Saturday…What about Sunday, the 19th?
Me: DING!! DING! DING!! We have a winner!!!!

Little did we know that the Annual CHOC Walk was scheduled for this particular Sunday.

We get to Disneyland at 8:30AM, and practically sprint for the Tram line. We are first. Waiting, waiting, waiting…SHOVE! Someone was pushing me from behind. And here we go folks. I turn around and see a whole sea of people. DH looks at me and says, “Sunday? October? Crowds at Disneyland? How is this possible?” I just shrug. I don’t care, I’m at Disneyland for the first time in 8 months…at this point I am too giddy to care about crowds. My DDs are just as giddy. See, normally in mid-October on a Sunday, crowds are typically low. Not today though folks. It was the CHOC Walk. So the crowds were a bit heavier then the norm…ok, a lot heavier.

We finally board the tram and begin our journey. The kids are glowing. Kevin and I have reverted back to being kids ourselves. We were in our happy place and loving every minute.

We disembark the tram and head over to the ticket booths, but not without getting through security. A quick bag check and we were on our way…right into the ticket booth line. A not-so-quick 25 minutes later, we were sprinting to…you got it…another line. To enter the park (FINALLY!!!).

My DDs love this part of the day. PICTURES IN FRONT OF THE FLOWER MOUSE!!!

Here are Tweedle Dee & Bean looking as sweet as they can be. What you don’t see, is that right after this shot was taken, my oldest DD was yelling at my youngest DD for Lord only knows what.

I love all the details & Magic the Cast Members and Disney Imagineers put into the holiday seasons.

Awesome! Santa rocks! :thumbsup2 You guys need to start your WDW trip on the first free dining day....it'll be the 23rd I believe. I already picked most of the restaurants. As soon as they release the park hours I'm good. Wait. Really that doesn't matter so much. We can hop now with no problem. I still forget about that.
