Not sure if you can limit them, but you can make them non-charging. When you check in that is one of the questions that they will ask - whether you want the 'secondary' cards to be able to charge or not.

We have ony experienced charging or non-charging based on resort pre-sets. Though we have asked with mixed results.
As 999ghsts works at WL, her answer sums it up best! However never be afraid to ask as I find with all resorts that it depends on who you ask, when you ask and most importantly How you ask that gets the most interesting responses!

When we checked into the POR I was asked which cards I wanted to have charging on and what limit. It was a tip through The Dis site that I even put charging ability on the kids cards. The tipster suggested that even charging lunch to the room would be great for the kids and they were right! My dd still talks about how she got to 'pay' for lunch and signed her own card. The card did say child on it and I kept it for safe keeping.

I have a question reguarding charging privileges. If you have more than one card, do they keep a per card running balance can they say "okay, on card #1 the charges for today came to $75, and for card #2 the charges for today came to $50, etc.? Or do they just add up all the cards and say the balance is $125. Did that all make sense? What I was hoping to be able to do is to give all 3 of my children charging privileges (they are 12, 9, & 7) and then at the end of the day take them to the front desk and have them pay for their purchases. They will all have their own money to spend and I don't really want them carrying their money with them all day long. And it would be nicer if they could pay someone rather than just giving money to me at night.
Thanks.

We did this several times and all the charges were on one bill, not separate bills for each person. I guess it won't hurt to ask though.

mamamia,
If I remember correct when you get a print out from the front desk it will have the card that made the purchase. I dont think they were seperated by card number but you could go through and figure that out yourself.
When we went last year we had 2 rooms and my aunt and mom were in one. We all had charging cards and just got aprintout before we checked out adn added everything up.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I tell you sometimes I feel like planning this trip to Disney is like planning a wedding. lol. But I love the planning. I'm actually nervous that when the trip is over I will be in for a big let down. (our first trip was in Feb. 2000 and we have a trip planned for Nov. 2002)

We never give our DD's charging priviledges. With two teens this could be dangerous!:D Plus I'd have to worry about them loosing the cards, which is very likely for one of them.
I'd rather give them money for what they need, than let them basically have a charge card that we are responsible for. :):D:)

Bumping this because I am looking for some other experiences. I am going with three 13 year old girls, and I think giving them a room card to charge on will be a great way to get in a lesson about money management (I'm a teacher, I'm always looking for a lesson :D )
I want to have the girls count up their receipts at the end of each day so they know how much they spent and how much they have left.
But I am also wondering if I can put a charging limit on just thier cards. Just in case they don't do well on my "lesson" and end up spending all their money by day 2.

Ahh, but what about this. Do you want your 13 year old in line with a slice of pizza and 50 people behind her, and have her charge card run out.
Just a thought.

If you have multiple rooms under one reservation you can split the rez and put different cards on the rooms (but only one credit card per room).
The one time we did this we had to be rather persisitent because they do not like to do it, it seemed to be a rather complicated transaction for the CMs.

No, you can not put a limit on the child's cards and have the regular limit on your card. You can lower the limit that is allowed to be charged back to the room, but it will be a total amount, not a per amount per card. So, if you try to do this, it is entirely possible that they will charge too much the first few days. With WDW, it's either an all or nothing proposition, nothing in between. You're only other option will to have the girls get pre-paid Visa cards with their money on it and use that instead of the room card. But again, it could lead to them using all their money before they are finished with the trip.

Dallas_Lady...
Maybe you'll be the one learning the lesson - not to give teenagers a charge card. ;)
j/k...I'm sure they'd have a better appreciation of how expensive Disney can be!
