Ok, I thought it would be a long time before writing another one of these, but here we are!

First, let me introduce the "cast" for those of you who don't know.

There's me, Heather.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/1-3.jpg

I'll be 22 on the 28th of November, I LOVE Disney, especially Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell. I'm almost 21 weeks pregnant with our first son, and we're very excited!

And then there's my husband, Darren (with my nephew's feet!).

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/3.jpg

Let me tell you, it was hard finding a semi-normal picture of him. He's such a goofball, he never smiles, it's always a weird face or something.
Anyway, he'll be 25 on January 7th, he loves Disney just as much as me. He always works hard so he definitely deserves this vacation.

And baby Brayden will be there, of course.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/bmf7.jpg

He is due on April 5th, 2009. His favorite activities include sleeping, waking up, and using mommy's bladder as a Space Walk. We love this little rugrat!

Darren's parents are coming on the trip for a few days.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/4.jpg

They love going to Disney, and we go with them every year.

Now, how did this trip come to be? Well, every e-mail I get about some good deal, I call Darren in to see, we discuss it and decide it's not a good time, no money, he can't get off of work, etc.
So I wasn't expecting much when I showed him the e-mail for the buy 4 get 3 free deal.
"I guess we could go in January..." He says. Hmmm. I won't be too far along in the pregnancy. I won't be able to ride the biggies, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to take. I can skip a few rides if it means the well being of my baby, plus I just enjoy the atmosphere of Disney. I will be sad to pass up my favorites, but I'll be back!

So I send off for a quote. The price isn't bad. We decide to definitely go! It will be a laid back trip, with lots of naps and slow walking. I'm happy to just be going, I miss it so much!

We'll be going to Pop Century from January 17th-24th. Darren's parents will probably stay offsite since they can't get into a value because they're booked up. They are only going for 4 days (kinda crazy when you can get 3 free, huh??) but I will enjoy the alone time with Darren.
We will be driving, with plenty of potty breaks, I'm sure.

I think that about wraps up the basics. We won't be making any ADRs because for one, who knows what we'll want to eat at any given time? And two, they are probably booked solid!
We try to get to as many evening extra magic hours as possible, so that's really the main thing we plan around. We like to be spontaneous and decide where we want to go when we get there. So this won't be much of a pre-trip report as far as planning goes, but I'd still like to chat with everyone and get excited about going!

BTW, all baby updates will be on the baby report (link in sig).

Congrats again Heather, that's so exciting! I remember how bummed you were when your original trip was cancelled, but it all worked out for the best. Now not only do you have Brayden on the way, but you also have a relaxing trip to look forward to! Even without the big rides you'll have a great time - as much as I love the rides, my favorite part of our trips is always just walking around the resorts and the World Showcase. Keep us updated!

Oh Heather I am soooooo excited for you and Darren. And lucky baby Brayden, he gets to take his first trip before he is even born. I am sure you are going to have a great time, even if you cant ride everything. You will get to see and do things you otherwise might have missed.

Cant wait to hear more about it. Oh and go join my pre-trippie too.

Congratulations! I have been to WDW pregnant. I focused on the food since I was missing the big rides that trip. I just love going with my kids but take advantage of your last adult trip (well, unless you go by yourselves after Brayden is born.)
Things, I look forward to when the kids are older - good sit down restaurants, eating after 6pm, walking INTO the countries in WS, seeing the nighttime shows/fireworks (we missed everyone this past trip!), and strolling through the gift shops.
Have fun!

Congrats on your trip! We are arriving at WDW (staying at Pop) on January 23!! Maybe we will run into each other. BTW- I know you won't know when you will want to eat but when I made my dining reservations everything was wide open! Lets home it stays that way, I want empty parks to enjoy!

I can't wait to read your reports to see lots of pictures of Pop. I know you have stayed there before but it fascinates me as it seems so popular. TBH it was not a resort I would have ever considered, I guess as from the pictures I have seen it doesn't look as Disney-ish. However everyone on here seems to love it so it must be good.

congrats on another trip

speaker from experience, when DW was pregnant when we went, it was great.

right there are some rides and things you wont be able to do, but that just gives you that much more time to do the other things that alot of people miss on a normal trip

we loved it, we saw more shows that normal, and the none rushed side of disney.

looking forward to it, and congrats again

Well, I didn't know a bunch of DISsers would be going in February!! Darn. I wouldn't be able to go that late anyway, too far into the pregnancy. :sad2:
Maybe next trip!!

Anyway, I'll have a list up soon of evening EMHs that we'll probably get to, plus the shows/rides that we will try to do. Maybe we'll FINALLY get to see the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. We're usually too busy riding stuff, but not this time. Anyone have any suggestions of good shows to see? We've done Fantasmic, but we might do it again. I want to see Wishes, of course, and maybe some of the parades.

Ok hun you have less than a month to go you must have some sort of plans, ideas, holiday shopping, something to give us?

TrueEeyore
12-22-2008, 01:41 PM
Ok, I'm starting to get worried. I've been reading on the boards about the bad stomach virus going around Disney right now. There's a thread with 10 pages of people saying they got sick! And seriously sick, too, not just once or twice. To the point of dehydration.

So my question is this. Do I stay home and make sure I don't get sick. Or do I risk it and go, hoping it's cleared up by now? It's been going on for about a month I think. I really shouldn't be getting sick like that, plus who wants to be sick on vacation?? I Lysol and Purell with the best of them, but everyone is saying even that doesn't keep you from getting it. It's airborne. :scared:

What do y'all think? What would you do? :guilty: I hate this!

DreaGirl
12-22-2008, 01:51 PM
Hmmm...I'm not sure. We were there Nov.14-18 and none of us got sick. We stayed at Pop.

If it were me, I would probably go. I went pregnant back in May (I was around 20 weeks) and I just made sure to wash my hands a lot and drink a lot of water.

ariel2007
12-22-2008, 01:54 PM
Thats a really hard one to call on. Personally I would go. Things like this always happen, not nessercarily at Disney World but in general and, and if you avoided everything just in case you would never end up doing anything. But then again if I was in you situation I can't say I would 100% feel the same. And I would hate to tell you to go and then for you to get sick. I think you have to do what you fell is right on this one.

KatGarcia
12-22-2008, 02:48 PM
I say go. Your best bet is just drink bottled water and keep some anti bacterial wipes and stuff with you. You should be fine!

princess&her4princes
12-22-2008, 02:58 PM
Hi Heather,

I completely understand your concern, but think you can pretty much get a stomach thing anywhere this time of year. We're home a week from WDW and I ended up with one here, you know? Just be aware of washing your hands and all and see if you can take some extra vitamins...vitamin C and that sort to boost your immune system? Can you take Airbourne while pregnant? I would hate for you to cancel your trip because of this, cause it's everywhere right now. Good luck with your decision!!

OMG that was just so weird. I typed Disboards into Google like I always do and at the top of the search results page it said 'The Dasani Girl is....', I was like "What?"

KristinAnne
12-22-2008, 07:06 PM
I think you should go. You're still about a month away, so that's a long time for it to run its course. It's true that you could get sick anywhere. It might seem more prevalent here because there is a place to write about it. In theory, there could be an outbreak anywhere you're planning to vacation, but because there aren't any message boards, you wouldn't know. That being said, I'm sure I'd be worried about it too. Maybe you could talk to your dr. or nurses about it and get their opinion?

Iggipolka
12-22-2008, 07:22 PM
I'm 19 weeks pregnant and we're going to WDW in 16 days. I'm going, virus or no virus. I figure that I can get sick just as easily at home by going to crowded places (the mall, my job, the movies) as I can at Disney. I'm going to be very careful and wash my hands a lot as pregnant women can get more sick than non-pregnant women. However, no stupid virus is keeping me from my long awaited Disney Vacation!

Thanks for the opinions everyone. If it were just me, of course I wouldn't hesitate to go, but I have someone to be responsible for now. My doctor told me that if I ever get a stomach bug and can't keep anything down to go straight to the hosipital because I would dehydrate fast. So if we get there and end up with an ER visit, it would be horrible, not to mention that ER fees are ridiculous, even after insurance coverage.

We talked about it all last night. We're still debating...:guilty:

dancin_princess
12-23-2008, 03:35 PM
If you decide to go, lysol and purell everything as you always and maybe even opt for a surgical mask or scarf (but i doubt it'll be that cold) It may look a little silly but least u'll be at disney and know ur baby is safe :thumbsup2

There was a similar virus going around last year when i still lived and worked there. My boyfriend and i never caught it and we were at the parks almost every week. Just play it safe

We just got back from Disney, were there 12/10-12/17, and I didn't hear anything about this. We also didn't catch any stomach bugs, just a nasty cold, but I think that was on the airplane on the way back.

I probably would not cancel b/c you have been looking forward to the trip so much and you can get sick anywhere. I would just be extra careful to avoid touching hand-railings and things like that and wash your hands often.

But if you do cancel, could you reschedule for a few months after Brayden is born - that would be fun too! :goodvibes

We went when our baby was 2 1/2 months old and if you do decide to reschedule, that is a GREAT time to go. We had a blast and the baby centers were the best!!! I highly recommend that age...he was cute in pictures and slept most of the trip so it was like we were still on vacation!!:cutie:

Here's some info I found on Noro and Pregnancy:

http://www.healthline.com/blogs/pregnancy_childbirth/2007/03/norovirus-infections-and-pregnancy.html
If you are pregnant and develop symptoms related to viral gastroenteritis, you should let your provider know. If you have a low-grade fever and if you are able to ‘keep up with your fluids’ during the acute phase of the illness, it is unlikely that you will develop serious complications related to the pregnancy. If you cannot keep up with the fluids, develop a high fever, begin having contractions or other symptoms of a more serious problem, let your provider know about these immediately. If you have a sick child at home with a Norovirus infection, wash your hands frequently, but don’t be surprised if you join them in their misery despite your best efforts.

And..from the CDC:

Noroviruses and Pregnancy
http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/hurricanes/infections.htm#noro

Vomiting and diarrhea related to norovirus are particular concerns for pregnant women, who can become dehydrated easily. To help prevent dehydration, pregnant women should drink an oral rehydration solution (such as Pedialyte® or Gastrolyte® ), juices, or water in small, frequent amounts. Health care providers might want to consider the early use of intravenous fluids in pregnant women. Because illness is usually of short duration, symptomatic medicines such as Immodium® or Pepto-Bismol® are not recommended. In addition, effects of their use in pregnant women have not been thoroughly studied.

There's no risk to the baby, it's well protected from nasty germs and viruses. The biggest problem is dehydration for the mother.

Thanks!! Our NYE was fine, we just went to my brother's house and he grilled. It wasn't anything spectacular. How was yours?

I'm glad you are still going! Yeah, 2 weeks!!

:yay: Thank you!

glad to hear that you are goin! maybe we will run into each other while were there

Well, be warned, I'm kind of shy in person. Don't be scared to say hi though! And Darren loves to talk! He's not shy at all. :rotfl:

We just booked our hotel for Friday night!! We usually drive straight through the night, but with me being pregnant and Darren having to drive by himself the whole way, we decided to spend the night in a hotel along the way. We've never done that before, so now we get an extra night of vacation!

So we'll leave Friday morning, drive for 7 1/2 hours to Lake City, stay overnight at Econo Lodge, then leave the next morning and drive 2 1/2 hours to Pop Century. We wanted somewhere cheap, but nice. It's only one night. And it has free breakfast! lol

Here's some pictures of the hotel:

Thats so cool you get to add an extra night. We always stay at the airport the night before we fly just to make things easier and its so much nicer, its like the real start to the holiday. And that place looks really nice. How long is the drive for you then? Oh and have you still got your Mustang?

I hope so! I told Darren it kind of looks like it would be on that Verizon commercial where that old man is scary and then he's like, "The towels are kinda scratchy!" :rotfl:

Very nice and great that you added a day to you vacation!! Two weeks..wow, it'll be here before you know it!!

I know. Crazy. I can't believe how close it is, it doesn't feel like it.

7 1/2 and 2 1/2 is 10...So 10 hours for a normal person. But a pregnant person? Probably about 12 hours with all the rest stops we'll have to have! :rotfl:
I'm just glad we'll wake up and only have 2 1/2 hours to get there.

Nope, we sold my Mustang, much to my dismay. When we got the Expedition, it was pretty much neglected and it started having engine problems. I felt like crying when we sold it, and I still can't think about it too much :sad2: . That was my first car, I got it when I was 16. I really needed something easier, with a back door for the baby.
But now I have to see someone driving it around town and he seriously made it look so bad. He put all kinds of weird stickers all on it and everything. It disgusts me to see it lol.

Are Darren's parents joining you in the beginning or end of the trip?

Neither, they had to cancel. I'm kind of glad that it's just me and Darren for one last trip alone! :lovestruc
Sorry I forgot to mention that they weren't going. They just decided a couple of weeks ago.
But now his mom thinks we shouldn't go because I'm pregnant. I keep having to remind everyone that they do have a hospital nearby and it's not like we're going to the middle of nowhere. We'll have help if something were to happen.

Ah thats a shame you had to sell it. Its a shame Nick couldn't have brought it, he would have looked after it for you.

Your only 10 hours from Disney, you are so lucky. I would love to just be able to drive there. Then again if I could I would be there every weekend . I am glad you and Darren get to go just the 2 of you, I know you really wanted to. Have you been looking in to all the alternative things you can do being pregnant, like looking for hidden mickeys and all the little extra things like Cinderella's wishing well (can't believe I missed that last time :sad2:). And have you any plans yet of when you are taking Brayden?

I'm glad you are going to get a couples only trip in before the baby. That is something I wish we would have done before our DD arrived.

Just keep reminding people that being pregnant is not a medical condition! If you are healthy, then you can do whatever you feel comfortable doing. :)

Aw, I wish Nick could have bought it. Would have been kind of expensive to ship, though!! :rotfl:

When I think of how far YOU have to travel, the ten hours don't seem so bad. It's so exciting passing all of the orange fields and knowing you're almost there. Plus, I won't fly, so I could never live overseas. I don't see how you survive such a long flight, I would be so nervous!

Yeah, we'll do leisurely things like that, see all the things that usually go unnoticed. It'll be a different kind of trip, I think it'll be fun! We'll probably take Brayden in January 2010, hopefully anyway! If not, then most likely sometime in 2010.

The only time we've been to Disney ourselves is our honeymoon. So I guess this is considered our 'babymoon'. :rotfl:

I agree! My doctor was like, "Absolutely!!" when I asked her if I could go. I'm PREGNANT, not a child myself. I'll know if something were wrong, and get help. I really won't be doing that much there, and we're stopping every couple of hours on the way there so I can get out and walk (don't want blood clots for sure!). I think we can handle this!

the econo lodge looks nice. i remember stayin in one when i was much younger. it should be comfy and if not, your only 2 1/2 hours from disney :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Thanks! I know, I just realized we could have stayed an extra night in Disney for about the same price lol. The point was splitting the trip so we weren't exhausted driving the whole way through, but it's only 2 1/2 more hours. Oh well, it'll be a new experience!

That hotel seems nice! I love finding good deals and you can't beat the free breakfast! hehe  Also, I just realized that you have the same birthday as my best friend! Thanks. At least I can tell him he got to go to Disney and didn't even know it at the time!

When we got back last time Nick started looking in to getting a Mustang. Although the cars themselves were affordable it costs so much to ship them over. And all the ones that we have over here are either stupidly expensive (were talking £20k upwards), or there in bad condition. Its just another reason we have to move over ;)

I don't mind flying at all, especially on the way over I am just so excited to be going on holiday. I do get bored though, I am quite a fidgetty and impatient person, especially on the way back when your going home and back to reality. Disney isn't that bad its only 9 hours flight, when we went to Thailand it was over 14 and that wasn't funny. Nick really wants to go back to Australia but I have told him the only way I am going is if we fly First Class as it is just so far. I cant see us shelling out £20k just for flights any time soon though

It should be really nice seeing and doing different things, its a perfect excuse to see a different side of Disney and really relax. Sounds good to me :thumbsup2. So Brayden wont have to wait too long for his first trip then (well 2nd of sorts), how exciting :woohoo:

Ok so here's a list of things we can do.

Magic Kingdom

- Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
- Carousel of Progress (if it's not closed seasonally)
- Country Bear Jamboree (not sure if we'll do this or not, but at least we CAN!)
- Enchanted Tiki Room (Darren isn't sure about this one. Last time we were singing that song ALLLLL week! Along with another song that I will tell you about shortly)
- The Haunted Mansion
- It's a Small World
- Jungle Cruise
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Mickey's Philharmagic (I am SO disappointed that this will be closing on the 18th! We are definitely going to MK on Saturday so we can see it a couple of times. It's my favorite show)
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor (I get nervous about being picked in here!)
- Peter Pan's Flight
- Pirates of the Caribbean (I know it has a small drop, but I'm sure it will be fine. Has anyone pregnant ever been on POTC?)
- Snow Whites Scary Adventures
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority (We'll spend a LOT of time on here. So relaxing! I wish the TTA went around the whole park like that.)
- We'll also be able to ride the train, something we usually pass up because we're in a hurry. So it will be nice to ride it around a few times
- We usually skip the parades, but if we're in the area at the time, we'll probably watch as many as we can. We are normally running to the major rides while the parades happen, but not this time!
- Wishes. My favorite fireworks show. I hope the loud noises don't scare Brayden. He got a little fidgety on New Years Eve, so I'm hoping it will be okay!
- FOOD! Dole Whips, turkey legs, ice cream, roasted almonds, etc. Yum!

Epcot

- Honey I Shrunk the Audience (probably my least favorite 3D show. It just seems outdated. The muppets in DHS as well. It doesn't really feel like the stuff jumps out at you anymore. :confused3 )
- The Seas with Nemo and Friends
- Mission: Space (kidding!)
- Soarin'? (Okay, this one is iffy. Darren's mom knew someone that got turned away at Soarin' because she was pregnant. I don't see why there'd be a restriction, but we're going to ask before going on. I hope I can ride)
- Spaceship Earth
- The Land
- If I can handle the walking, we might do World Showcase. We've never made it to all of the countries and this would be a nice time to do it. We'll see!)
- Illuminations
- Food here too!

Hollywood Studios

- Beauty and the Beast (we've never seen this show. I've always wanted to.)
- The Great Movie Ride
- Indiana Jones Stunt Show
- Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show (Darren wants to see it. I want to skip it because we saw it on the last trip. I think it's an every other trip show.)
- Magic of Disney Animation (never done it)
- Muppet Vision 3D
- One Man's Dream (never got to watch the whole movie at the end.)
- Toy Story Mania (I heard it's pretty jerky though. Anyone been on it have any insight?)
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid (LOVE this show!)
- I hope we can catch the new Block Party parade here. I won't be able to stand and watch it, so we'll have to find somewhere to sit pretty early. My sciatic nerve acts up if I stand in one place for too long :sad2: )
- Fantasmic!
- Food...Of course! ;)

Animal Kingdom

- Festival of the Lion King (never done it. I have been wanting to for awhile now though)
- Finding Nemo - The Musical (THIS is another song that got stuck in our heads after watching it. "In the biiig blue world..." Oh man, it was bad lol. So I don't know if we'll see it this time around or not.)
- Flights of Wonder (I haven't seen this show since 2000.)
- It's Tough to be a Bug
- We'll probably do the trails where you see the animals and stuff. I know we're skipping the safari since I nearly bounced right out of the truck a few times. It's just too bumpy!
- Food
- So not much to actually do at AK, but there's still a lot to see there.

Darren has been saying he was going to rent me a wheelchair, especially for Epcot. I keep telling him no since it will look like I'm trying to get in rides a different way or whatever. He's worried because I get a lot of braxton hicks contractions after walking for a long time, so we'll just have to stop and take breaks. Of course I have to stay hydrated, but that means I'll visit every bathroom Disney owns. Which SUCKS because of the virus going around.

Also, because of the virus, we're going to be driving to the parks to avoid being in busses with sick people and just breathing the same air over and over until we get to the park. I love the busses and associate them with Disney with their diesel smell, but this time we have to take precautions. Plus, it'll be nice to get into a comfy seat after leaving the park instead of a plastic seat on a crowded bus.

So I think that's pretty much all we know for now. We're going tomorrow to get the necessities and then we're all set!
I can't believe we're leaving a week from today!

I don't get the test results back for about two weeks, so we'll probably be in Disney when I get them. Even if I fail, it doesn't mean I have gestational diabetes, I just have to go and take a 3 hour test to determine if I have it or not. But hopefully I will pass the first one so I don't have to do the 3 hour one!

But I'm not going to stress about it.. there will be other times.. plus, its going to be way hotter than when I usually go in Jan. So I will have to pace myself more!:cool1:

Walking's good for pregnant ladies. I'd make sure to do the World Showcase tour. If you feel too worn down, you can always find a nice table somewhere and relax for a bit. Or make one of the Kidcot masks for the baby, that will give you an excuse to stop and rest a bit in each country.

Can you do the Norway ride while pregnant? I did that for the 1st time last month and it was so much fun!! You should definitely be able to do the Mexico boat ride.

Well good luck, I am sure you will be fine. I know how well you take care of baby. And don't worry, I know you have a lot of important things to concentrate on at the moment, its just nice to know whats going on with you and baby . That is so funny, I can just imagine you reading it to baby, so he can learn what he didn't when you were there. You know when he has the cheek to fall asleep and not concerntrate his full attention on Disney

Thanks!

Oh and it looks like there is still so much you can do at WDW, including a lot of great rides and shows. I didn't realise there would still be so much, maybe you aren't going to have so much free time as I thought.

I know, we're really only missing out on the major thrill rides. Disney just has so much to offer that there's something for everyone, no matter what your situation. That's what makes them so great!

I know, there's always something we never get around to doing, and I'm sure that will be the case this time too!

Walking is usually good, but my doctor told me not to do too much of it because it causes me to have contractions. You bet I'll be walking my butt off when my due date rolls around! :rotfl:
I'm not sure about the Norway ride. I think I saw somewhere that said pregnant women might want to skip it. :confused3

I'm at WDW now and while I'm not as far along as you, I have been walking just about all day. I too get braxton hicks contractions after awhile, but if I sit on a bench and drink a bunch of water, they go away. Today, I just sipped water throughout the day and the braxton hicks were much less.

I have seen zero evidence of sickness at the resort (AKL), the buses or the parks. That's not to say that it's not around, but it's just not as visible as the threads on the illness have made it seem. Yeay! :)

Like Melissa said I know how disappointed you were before when you had to cancel, I am just so glad you got to go again, and just Darren and you too, I know how much you wanted to. But it does feel like only a few weeks ago I was reading your last report, and then you PTR for September, then your PCB report, and you saying how you and Darren wanted a baby soon, then your pregnant, and now your going back and when you get back you'll be so close to having your baby, how time flies hey :goodvibes

We didn't get the stomach virus and we didn't see any signs of it whatsoever. I'm so grateful for that!!

Anyway, I can't wait to tell you all about the trip. I've been busy today trying to unpack and wash clothes, but the pictures are uploading now. I also have quite a few videos, so it may take awhile. Just know that it's coming though!

We got to experience new things, it was so exciting. So stick around, I'll have Part 1 up soon!

Day 1. Friday, January 16th

We woke up at about 7:00am. We already packed the car the night before, so we just finished up the last minute things and then it was time to go!

But not before this:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-1.jpg

Woo hoo! So we left about 8:00am, went to my mom's to say goodbye, then went to a gas station to fill up.

Brayden on the way:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-2.jpg

Mississippi!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-3.jpg

Alabama!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-4.jpg

The infamous tunnel in Alabama. Somewhere before this, Darren got flipped off by some old man. :rotfl:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-5.jpg

In Alabama, we stopped at Dairy Queen to get some lunch.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-6.jpg

Then Florida, finally!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-7.jpg

We ended up in traffic for about 15-20 minutes...

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-8.jpg

Darren wasn't too pleased.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-9.jpg

We finally made it to Econo Lodge. Yeah, it was pretty crappy, like I expected, but at least it was only for 1 night!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-10.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-11.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/brayden/disney%202009/day1-12.jpg

After checking in, we went to find something to eat for dinner. We ended up at Krystal Buger (how fun, right? haha) and we went to Wal-Mart afterwards, because there wasn't much to do.

We got back to the room and went to sleep, Disney World was waiting for us the next day! :hyper:

I know there's not much detail in this first update, but it will get better. Stick around for Day 2 when we arrive at Disney!

Hi! Thanks for reading. Yes, I got my diet plan and everything. My BS levels have been great so far, I hope they stay that way.

Yay! Glad to see you do an update. So sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes. Exactly. If I wanted to diet, I'd never be able to keep it up, but now I HAVE to. It's still hard, but you just have to stop and think of why you're doing it.

Sorry about your GD diagnosis! The good thing is that it should end when you deliver. How is everything else with the pregnancy?

So, why did Darren get flipped off? You know it is a small town when you go to Wal-Mart to "do something". :rotfl:

Yes, I can't wait for it to go away. All I'm going to have in my hospital bag is candy! :rotfl: Everything else is fine with the pregnancy. Having GD came as a shock since everything had been so normal.

I really don't know why Darren got flipped off! I think the man wanted to go around us and he thought Darren was going too slow, so he passed us (it's a two lane highway, he could have easily passed, but he wanted us to speed up.) and flipped the bird as he went by. :rolleyes2

Horray, at last you have started, and a great start too. It must be great driving through all the different states, and seeing all the different state signs. The drive didn't look too bad apart from the bit of traffic, how long did it take to get to the Econlodge then?

We've driven to Florida so many times, it's not fun seeing the state signs anymore. All that means is another state is behind us! lol.
I really don't remember how long it took to get to Econo Lodge. I know it estimated about 7 1/2 hours, so probably around that. We stopped at a few rest areas and to eat though, so maybe a little longer.

Yeaaaa for the 1st installment!:cheer2: Can't wait to read more. By the way, is that a Fudpucker shirt you have on? I got the very same one when we drove over to Destin from PC Beach last summer...too cool!:thumbsup2

Haha I love Fudpucker's at Destin! We've gone there quite a few times! Back in 2005 we wrote something on one of the poles and then when we went back in 2007, it was still there!!!

Me too! I wrote my name on a table. Haven't been back since then to see if it's still there though. I always forget to bring a permanent marker.

:cheer2: Yay!!!! You started!!:cheer2: Can't wait til you get to Disney!!

Sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes!! Hope you can put your mind at ease and figure things out sooner than later with that!!! My friends have had it, I came close twice, and know it's pretty easy once you figure it out. Good luck!! Btw, love the pic of Brayden on the way!!;)

Thanks! It's easy to figure out, the more protein I eat, the more carbs/sugar I can have! :hyper:

YAY for trip report!! It's ok it wasn't long! The first day is always exciting just because its the first day!! Cute belly by the way! And I'm sure we all feel like Darren at times on the expressway.. stuck in traffic. The hotel looks nice- like the pic you seen online! How was the stay there?

Thanks!! The Econo Lodge was okay for one night. I wouldn't want to spend a whole vacation there though!

So hunny bun do we get the next installment yet? And how are you going without your sugar, will it just be like this until Brayden is born?

So glad you are back. Can't wait to hear more!! Sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes. I'm glad all you have to do is eat more protein though. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and I had to take insulin shots anytime I ate. :scared1: The good news is that it'll go away as soon as you have Brayden.

Day 2. Saturday, January 17th. Part 1.

We woke up and checked out of the Econo Lodge. I was hungry, so we went to McDonald's drive-through for breakfast. We were on the road at 8am.

After a little bit of driving, we saw THIS:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-1.jpg

Isn't that a lovely sight?? I thought so. But this is even better!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-2.jpg

We drove under the sign, we were the only car in sight...Drove a little more.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-3.jpg

A little more...

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-4.jpg

Hey, we've got Disney to ourselves! (Not quite, but a nice thought, isn't it?? haha)

I just loooove the purple signs.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-5.jpg

Finally, we reached our destination.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-9.jpg

We got there at 10:45 and checked in. We requested a king sized room and got it! I only wish we'd requested to be close to the food court.

Our room wasn't ready, so we headed to Magic Kingdom. We bypassed the busses and just drove. (We didn't ride a single bus this trip. Sad, because I like the busses, but we found it to be a lot quicker and more comfortable.)

First monorail sighting! And lime green too, how about that!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-11.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-12.jpg

We parked at the TTC and got on the monorail to MK. It was SO crowded at the TTC. Would it be a sign of what's to come?

Why yes, it would! (Note: We didn't get any heavy crowd pictures, but trust me, it was crowded.)

We hooked a right and headed to Tomorrowland. We were on a mission. We got to The Launching Pad and got a turkey leg and Coke. I know some of you don't like turkey legs, so I won't gross you out by posting a pic.

But this guy wanted a bite!

After eating, we rode the TTA. Brayden's very first Disney World ride!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-21.jpg

Does anyone know what this construction is?

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-23.jpg

After the TTA, we walked around, through Fantasyland. CROWDS everywhere. Small World even had a 40 minute wait!

We got off at the front of the park and decided to go see if our room was ready.

Hey, it's Pinocchio!

Wheres all the pictures of you Heather, I am used to seeing loads. I'm sorry it was so crowded for you though hun. And TTA was Brayden's first ride, how cute. When you take him back for his first out-of-Mummy trip you should make that his first ride then, it would be so cool. I really want to know what the construction is now, I haven't heard any plans for anything.

Don't worry about it, I know you're busy. Just stop by to say hi when you get a chance!

Why is it so crowded in January?! Crazy! But at least you're finally there, right? :woohoo::woohoo: And yay for Brayden's first ride! Too cute! I can't believe how fast the months are flying by. Heather... you're gonna be a mommy in TWO MONTHS!!! Can you believe it? I'm still so happy for you guys and can't wait to hear all about the rest of Brayden's "firsts" throughout the year. And I know you'll have tons of pics to share ;) Great update, and I hope you're feeling good!

Day 2. Part 2. Saturday, January 17th

So after leaving the crowded Magic Kingdom, we headed back to Pop to see if our room was ready. It was! And it was in the 80's, 3rd floor. Probably the building the longest distance away from Classic Hall. But it was okay.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-31.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-32.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-33.jpg

I found this little creature in our window:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-44.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-45.jpg

We went to the food court and ate nachos, breadsticks, and pasta. Sorry, forgot to take pics! Then we went to the gift shop and Darren found this to hold my water:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-37.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-34.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-36.jpg

As we're walking, I told Darren that from SOMEWHERE at Pop you could see the Disney World entrance sign, but I didn't know what section. I just so happen to look over after I said it and there it was! I had to laugh at the coincidence.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-43.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-42.jpg

How cool is that?! Right by our building.

The year I was born:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-41.jpg

Then we got in the car and headed for Hollywood Studios.

The new American Idol Experience. We were kind of sad that we'd miss it, since it's not scheduled to open until Feb. 14.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-46.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-48.jpg

We went to Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I love this show!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-49.jpg

After that, we tried to go to Toy Story Mania. Yeah, not this night! It had a 90 minute wait.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-50.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day2-51.jpg

So that ends our first day at Disney. Not the most exciting day, but you have to remember I was carrying around a lot of weight in my stomach and my back and hips HURT. I actually took Tylenol this night because I hurt so bad, and I hate taking medicine while I'm pregnant.
But you couldn't stop me. I was in Disney World and I was going to see it, dangit!!

So coming up is Day 3. Don't give up on me yet, there's more to come. If not great details, at least there's lots of pics!!

Hi Heather. I love seeing the Disney sign at night! I've never seen it at night because we always get there during the day. Love reading your TR as usual. Love the bottle holder! I always have a Dasani in my hand also so that would come in handy.:cool1:

We saw it every night pretty much. I just thought it was a cool little gem hidden away at a value resort!
You need to get the bottle holder, it was a life saver for me!

I've been MIA from your baby thread and totally missed that you had a trip to Disney! I'm looking forward to reading all about how you handle the trip being pregnant. I know people do it all the time, but I've never done it.
Those glasses are totally 80's!!!

Thanks! It wasn't that difficult being pregnant, but I was kinda TOO pregnant for all the walking. It was painful for my hips. I'd go pregnant again, just not so far along.

My hubby seen the mickey water holding thingy.. and he said "That is a cool invention.. I'm getting one of those when we go" hehe So where did you buy this?!! :goodvibes Ohh ad I loved the "night shot" of the disney world sign.. very prettty! I love all your pics! It's making me soo excited!

We found the water holder in the Pop gift shop! Well, Darren found it. He came up to me and said "let's get this for your water." So sweet! :lovestruc He carried it the whole trip for me and never complained when I asked him to give it to me! Or for the millions of bathroom trips I had to take!

'HAPPY VALENTINES DAY' :lovestruc

Hope you and Darren have a lovely day. Just think your last Valentine's day just the 2 of you :lovestruc

Thank you. We did our taxes lol. Seriously! Then we went to Babies-R-Us and spent the money and gift cards we got at the baby shower. I had a lot of fun, I could spend hours (and thousands) in that store!
I hope you and Nick had a great day!

sorry i have been reading, but did not have to comment on the last one.

i have not seen you on my report lately, but i guess you have an excuse being pregnant and getting things ready.
:goodvibes
just giving you a hard time.

Hush you! I am soooooo busy that I'm finding it hard to sit here at the computer when there's so much to be done. You better feel special! :rotfl:

great trip report so far, looking forward to more!:thumbsup2

Oh I love Ryleigh spelled that way! My maiden name is Reile (pronounced the same) and my mom thought it would be a good name for either a boy or girl but I didn;t like it spelled that way so I went with Caleb. But i might have to consider Ryleigh if i eve rhave a girl!
Congrats!

January 18th, Sunday. Day 3. Part 1.

Darren woke up at 8 and went to get us some breakfast.

Can you say yummy?! (We know Stacy can)

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-1.jpg

Then I realized I hadn't been keeping note of what we were doing the past two days, so Darren wrote it down while I finished getting ready.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-2.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-3.jpg

Where were we going?? A little bit of Africa, a little bit of Asia...

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-4.jpg

And hey, there's a free ad for you. Need a DJ?? lol

So when we got into the parking lot, we got the very last spot on a row, the one closest to the tram. This driving your own car thing was really working out for us! So the tram came and we hopped on.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-5.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-6.jpg

Sorry lady blowing a bubble. Didn't mean to get you in my picture. Poor thing, looks like she worked hard on that bubble! Don't you know there's supposed to be no gum in Disney World, woman?!

So we took the super secret shortcut through Rainforest Cafe. There's never a line to get into the park this way. You can use it, but don't abuse it!! Haha, jk.
Since we were coming back there to eat later in the day, we didn't cheat!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-7.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-8.jpg

We got into the park and it was crooooowded. I was ready for the weekend to be OVER. These people needed to go home.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-9.jpg

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-10.jpg

We wanted to see Festival of the Lion King but we didn't know what time it started. Yeah, we didn't grab a times guide. I guess we thought it would be better if Darren ran to Camp Minnie-Mickey to check it out while I sat on a bench and waited.

A fellow bench:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/day3-11.jpg

He came back. Nope, the show had already started. Boooooo. We were going to have to come back later in the week to see it. I really wanted to see this show!

So you know those awesome acrobats that we always go see in Animal Kingdom? We had our picture taken with them and we see them 2/3 times a day when we're at AK. Welllllllllllll, we wanted to see them today so Darren asked the lady working nearby when they'd be out.

THEY DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE she said. What???? Our funny guys were gone? That stinks. So we were pretty bummed about that. I wonder why they stopped doing the show? And I wonder if they're working anywhere else in Disney. If anyone knows anything, let me know! We really liked watching them, they were good.

ANYWAY, after that disappointment and the crowds getting larger, we decided to just go ahead and have some lunch. Back to Rainforest Cafe we went.

Darren looks like he's about to get poked in the head.

We got our usuals. I got the chicken nuggets, Darren got the burger. We don't go to RFC for the food, we go for the atmosphere.

Someone obviously ordered a voooooollllcannnnoooo too. Wasn't us. Should have been, that looks delicious.

We finished eating and went back to the gift shop. We always take pictures in the photobooth.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c281/sweetsugarbabie/Disney%202009/day%203/scan001001-1.jpg

Tried to get Brayden in there. It wasn't easy.

We were pretty tired so we headed back to the car.

So there you have it folks...Yes, we spent the morning at Animal Kingdom and didn't do a THING besides eat. I told you it was going to be a leisurely trip!! Haha. Part 2 will be better. Know why??
Magic Kingdom extra magic hours!! It was going to be open until 2am that night. We needed to rest if we were going to make it through the night. Well, I needed to rest anyway.

But first, we went to Downtown Disney for a bit.

Ok so here's a list of things we can do.

Magic Kingdom

- Mickey's Philharmagic (I am SO disappointed that this will be closing on the 18th! We are definitely going to MK on Saturday so we can see it a couple of times. It's my favorite show)

Well this is news to me. I did not know that it was closing. How sad! It was me and my boyfriend's favorite show!

I know your hands are full now so post whenever you can. I'm paitent.

Thanks Carla!! I promise I am going to finish this one day! It's hard right now because during his naps I'm busy with laundry and dishes and stuff, so when he gets on a better schedule I'll have more time. I really didn't mean to leave everyone hanging! I know I hate when TRs don't get finished or never updated, so I'm a hypocrite. It will get finished, don't hate me everyone lol.

BTW, Philharmagic was closed for refurbishment. It closed the day after we arrived. The attraction is still open, I'm sorry if I made it sound like it was closed for good.
