WDW Marathon, transportation for packet pickup

For all you repeat visitors, do buses run from the resorts to event registration? Or just the one from DHS? and if there's just the one, is it pretty regular? I'm arriving early in the day and DH is flying in later. I'm thinking of using ME and letting him get the rental car, saving us a days rental.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

You can get special event busses to the expo from the on property hotels. These event busses are not the Disney busses--the ones that take you to the parks. You usually pick up the event bus at a separate place from the Disney bus line. You should have no problem. They do run frequently. These same busses take you to the start line of the event.

Both years I did marathon weekend I stayed at POP so I can tell you how they do it there. Mears busses take you from the resort to packet pickup and back. There is a temporary sign set up that says marathon expo just next to the area where the park busses pick you up.

If you are going to be down on the Thursday before the marathon I recommend getting to WWoS about 20 minutes before packet pickup starts, you can walk right in. I did this for this years half marathon and by the time I left there was a line almost back to the turn styles. If you are doing the full waiting for Saturday and going early isn’t bad since all the halfers have already picked up their packets.

Thanks for the info. After further discussion with DH, we decided we should just pay the extra day for the rental car and I'll pick it at the airport. So guess I'll just drive right to WWOS. I should get there around noon on Friday. When the line is long, how long are you waiting?
