When someone posts a layout, can that be used as a template? I'm very new to this and saw that some people were thankning others for sharing a template they'd made.
Just a little confused! Thanks!

yep, we call it scraplifting. Most of us ask the poster if we can lift it and I've never had anyone say no before.

How cool! So I wouldn't need to own the program they use?

I think you might be confussing some of the types of layouts....
right now we have 2 types of scrapping on this board, digital, where you need to have the files or templates, down loads...I am not digital so I dont' know exactly what the terms are called. Then you have the traditional scrapping, using paper.
I think you might be talking about digital. Where some of the crafty ladies on here make digital kits. They are some times willing to share them and will direct you to a link you must then down load. If they didn't make the files then they might be able to link you to some of the free sites.
If it's paper....then as Buffy said, we generally ask if we can borrow, or scrap lift their paper idea and use it on our own pages.

I don't see why you couldn't scraplift a digital layout if you liked it though. there are some really cute ones that you could translate to paper fairly easily. happy scrapping! maggie

I'm not sure about digital templates, I don't know much about digital. But if you were doing paper you can lift.
